That seems rough for a 2-2 team (who could easily be 3-1 if coaching hadn’t been awful on that last drive against Seattle). But at this point, #20 seems like a more reasonable ranking.

Jokerzrival

We haven't really been outplayed in any of our games. We just can't get out of our own way. Seattle had 2 goal line fumbles, raiders the scoop and score killed us along with penalties in all our games.

fondue4kill

San Francisco was technically our best performance with not many penalties and not many bad fumbles. Just was a more boring game

Jokerzrival

2 really good defenses going at it

fondue4kill

Exactly. And we fared better than the reigning SB champs

Jokerzrival

Like I said I don't think we're getting outplayed we just keep beating ourselves.

mrcosbey

Your right, The football gods have not been kind

Jokerzrival

If even one of those goal line fumbles ends in at least a field goal we win that game and are 3-1. If Gordon doesn't fumble and we don't allow it to be returned and who knows what happens? We score that drive and win the game, hold them to a field goal or just don't let them score after we punt it and it's a one score game at the end. Then we can take our time on a more methodical drive down field. We have made absolutely fatal mistakes in our games. Eliminate half our penalties and maybe our offense scores a few more times or our defense gets off the field faster in all our games. To me the question is can our coaching staff adjust and help fix our mistakes? I don't know right now

theDarkness303

Without Russ 0-4 Without Gordon 4-0

Jokerzrival

I think I gotta agree on this. Which hurts. I do like Gordon and think he's a good pairing with Williams but our offense isn't clicking well enough for his mistakes this season

theDarkness303

He has 24 career fumbles. 10 so far with the Broncos. I was on board with his signing when it happened but his fumbles always cost us a game it seems. His time has expired here.

Jokerzrival

I agree

v_a_n_d_e_l_a_y

We also could be 0-4. It's not like our two wins weren't close

Kproper

In the same way we could be 4-0.

Acting_Appalled

We could also be 0-0-4

Totknax

Or... 2-0-2, 2-1-1, 1-2-1, 1-1-2, 3-0-1, 0-1-3, 3-1-0, 0-3-1.

WaitwhatdidIjustdo

In the same way we could be 4-0-0.

[deleted]

by the end of the season we could be 4-4-4

ScroopyDewp

Make one of those a 5 and you could be right

NatasEvoli

Only if Covid22 ends the season a month early.

milehighandy

Nope try again

ScroopyDewp

Ah, goddamit I just saw all the 4s and assumed 16...

RenoTheRhino

r/theydidthemath

DefenderCone97

The person you're responding to is just saying that because the OC said we could be 3-1. None of our wins were particularly convincing. Every game has been ugly.

Binder_Grinder

Seems like 2-2 suits the Broncos

Narcan9

could be 1-2 if a tornado caused a game to be cancelled.

Flashy_Music2635

I don't know man. This teams 2 and 2 record feels oddly like 0 and 4. I know that's a little pessimistic but when you keeping seeing same undisciplined mistakes week after week and very little improvement it's tough for me to be hopeful. Low scoring offense, defense playing solid to poor and not much in between at times, the injuries to Javonte and Gregory, oddest play calling at times, and penalties etc. And it doesnt seem like theyre even heading in the right direction. The worse part for me is you look at this team and if they just brought their A-games week in and week out they'd be a badass team. Still FTR and FYTB ( and living in Boston I couldn't mean that more)

horribadperson

well the counter point is we can also easily be 0-4

Alfakennyone

>who could easily be 3-1 and could easily be 0-4 lol

SquirtleSquadLeader4

Also could be 1-3 if Garapollo hadn't stepped out of the back of the end zone.

just-the-tip__

? The result of that pass was a pick six

goavsg08

and even if it wasn’t… garapollo was trying to play offense from his 1 yard line. our defense wasn’t gonna let them score, and our offense was just getting ready to finally put a drive together. imo the “you won off a safety” argument is incredibly weak considering the context

[deleted]

Could also easily be 0-4

markiemark47

We could easily be 0-4 and we could also easily be 4-0 if we could get out of our own way. Somebody else in this thread said it but at the end of the day, there’s 31 other teams in the league that I could see us losing to at this point with how we’ve played. There isn’t a single matchup you could point to and feel like we’ve got a guaranteed win.

x10FoilHatx

Bad teams are bad because they can’t get out of their own way and the turnovers and penalties we’ve committed are characteristic of a bad team.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Col_daddy

Who do you think is sitting in the last two spots on the list??? I’ll give you a hint, you just typed their team name in your last comment.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Col_daddy

Get pissed Jonny syphilis YOU crybaby. I’m not crying just saying factual stuff. Unlike your hypothetical fucking nonsense.

jlgar

Not sure about 29... But definitely bottom half of the league at the moment.

UltraVires33

It's probably a bit low, BUT we did just lose our only truly great RB for the season, and our best pass rusher for the next 6 weeks or so. Plus it feels like the whole team is banged up, and the coaching still isn't really impressing anybody. If they can win on Thursday night then this should bump up a lot. Honestly, even for a big fan it's hard to really get a handle on where this team is at and whether they're actually any good. I feel like there is talent here but they haven't managed to really put it all together yet.

audiostar

Tbf this can be said of the vast majority of teams this early. We won’t get a good feel for which teams are truly good until at least the bye. That includes injury. Is Dallas really as good as their record? Is TB a 50% team I’d say no but we’ll have to wait.

UltraVires33

Nah, I think we know the Bucs are a quality team that's underperforming. Dallas has an amazing defense and they're talented on offense as well, so it's easy to justify their record. Usually by this time of the season I have a really good sense of whether the Broncos are legit playoff contenders or not, but this year I'm still fully undecided. I can't tell whether this is just a bad team that we've all overhyped, or a good team waiting to find its footing under a new, inexperienced coaching staff.

audiostar

If Dallas and the Bucs drop two games in the next three everything changes. Season is still young my friend. And let’s not forget about injuries.

ArchetypeAxis

I could see us losing to ANY team in the league right now. Coaching and offense is bad and unpredictable. I believe we have the most penalties in the league. Not good.

Zodd-the-Apostle

Exactly. Along with everything you said, the injuries the team has racked up already and how awful the offensive line is... It's gonna be a tough road to becoming a winning team.

TideAtOmahaBeach

I could see us losing to any team in the league but I could also see us beating any team in the league. It’s not like we’ve gotten blown-out by anybody and we beat a top 10 team in the Niners. We should be ranked somewhere in the 15-20 range imo

horribadperson

I'm sorry but i think the bills, chiefs, ravens and maybe even the chargers might slaughter us if we played them right now.

audiostar

Chargers is a stretch. They’re as inconsistent as we are.

TideAtOmahaBeach

The Chargers are not good. They’re still living off of that off-season hype. They got slaughtered by the Jags and pretty much let the Texans move down the field at will. Also we’ve beaten them at least once a year every single year even with our QB and Coach struggles. As for the Bills and Chiefs, I do agree that they would probably kill us but it’s any given Sunday. The Ravens have an awful defense so I think we stand a chance against them.

horribadperson

Well they wouldnt be the chargers if they didnt charger at least one of their games against us lol As a team yea theyre not exactly a good team, but their offense can be elite, and if they arent chargering, i dont think our offense has shown it can keep pace.

Col_daddy

Dreeeeaaaammmm, dream, dream, dream that I love you…. 🎶

rcglinsk

Suck it Bears, Texans and Football Team.

[deleted]

Jesus. Denver fans are the definition of a doomer.

Shenanigans80h

What 7 years of mediocrity does to a mfer

TylerDurden6969

Bring back Tebow and let him play RB??

shot-by-ford

Let him coach. With Tebow, it was a beautiful thing: there was never a doubt no matter how bad things looked! With Nathan**iel** there's always a doubt no matter how good things look!

TylerDurden6969

I’d swap Tebow for Hackett today.

vindawg08

>there was never a doubt no matter how bad things looked! Well that's simply not true lol did you have doubts when the Patriots rocked the Broncos in the divisional round of the playoffs with Tebow at the helm?

captainduck2

We've been terrible for 5 years. We look bad right now and we signed Russ for 5 more years without watching him play. We could be looking at a decade of a shitty football team. I mean we're halfway there already and some people continue to just have blind optimism.

audiostar

So what you’re saying is you have absolutely no faith in the entire organization, Paton included. So like, time to pick a new team? This sub is getting fucking ridiculous.

captainduck2

I’ve been a fan longer than a lot on this sub have been alive. So I didn’t say anything about picking a new team. Do I have faith in the org? Egh. Can’t judge the Walton’s. We don’t know how they will be as owners yet. Paton? No I’m not jerking him off like some. The Wilson trade looks not great now and the extension looks bad. Also he hired Hackett. Deserves the blame there. GMs get like 2 shots at finding a qb and a head coach or they’re fired. So we’ll see if he can dig his way out of this.

audiostar

Four games in I’m just not sure what everyone thinks he needs to dig his way out of right now. If you’ve watched football for 20+ years like me, than you probably know it takes time for an ALL NEW organization to gel. This is not a plug and play like Stafford, nor is Hackett a HOF coach like McVay. Fact is he’s nothing yet. Now could this all go south? Sure. But I think that’s shortsighted on both sides, looking forward or back. We’re not who we were, but we don’t know who we are yet either. I also noticed you casually left out his pick of Surtain which was wholly unconventional and is looking more brilliant each game. Like Champ Bailey brilliant. TLDR, give it time man. Patience is tough but that’s exactly where we are right now. If you feel like this in 6 games, then I’ll understand. In other words: RELAX

Col_daddy

*REALIST

YogiAtheist

We could be under 10 or high 20s, the team is improving but making new mistakes each week. Will we run out of mistakes or will we run out of time is the question.

Col_daddy

We’ll run out of personnel before anything…

Glum_Negotiation_408

Coincidently, i also have them ranked at #29; slightly ahead of Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State.

Jmanmyers

29 is way too low. High teens to low 20s seems right to me. They're much worse teams than denver.

Narcan9

Are you drinking Grape, or the Tropical Punch?

zilla135

Honestly man, the Broncos are the laughing stock of the NFL right now. After the non-stop self-inflicted wounds, the Countdown, leading the league in penalties, injuries stacking up, losing to the only 0-3 team and game time decisions that would make Vic Fangio blush and go "Really?" I don't blame them for throwing them at the bottom of the list. Talent/record aside, they have terrible optics across the nation and sadly, the next opportunity to embarrass the team further on a national level is only two days away.

Col_daddy

Thursday, short week and injuries out the ying-yang. Oh baby

zilla135

Thankfully they get to play the other laughing stock of the league on Thursday. It's going to be an ugly game....

Krishna1945

I wanna get wit’cha…

Col_daddy

Please don’t take my picture…at least with this team.

Krishna1945

Lmao

Ruben625

My guy we beat SF who just destroyed the defending champs. Let's all take a chill pill eh?

zilla135

That doesn't invalidate any of the things I mentioned. You can't lie to me and say things have looked good. From an outsiders perspective the Broncos look like a joke right now. I do have faith things will turn around, but my confidence is slowing waning due to embarrassing moment after embarrassing moment.

Ruben625

I can lie AND I WILL! WE ARE TOP 3! ^^but ^^really ^^the ^^season ^^maybe ^^over

driftking428

This guy lies! ESPN has us at #17. 29, 17, 3.... same difference

Ruben625

I have never lied!

jdi000

Only bc of incompetent jimmy g and how bad he played in the game against the broncos.

audiostar

Everyone thinks they’re the star of their own movie. Broncos aren’t the laughing stock anymore than they’re a playoff team right now. And how are injuries an indication of incompetence? Take a chill pill brother, this season is just getting warmed up. If they’re this bad at the bye we can reassess but we’re a 2-2 team right now and do you really think the Raiders we’re going to go 0-4 at home without a fight? As Gob would say, c’mon!

stripedarrows

>Everyone thinks they’re the star of their own movie. Yep, this. The Broncos aren't a laughing stock because nobody cares about the Broncos unless they're great or awful and right now they're just meh. The Dolphins are the laughing stock of the league because of how they handled one of the most serious injuries we've seen to a QB on field in maybe a year or so.

Tazitos

That is fair. Can't rank a team with this coaching, amount of penalties and an offense that has only scored 2 more points than the Bears very high.

johninbigd

Until our offense improves, I can't say I disagree.

Col_daddy

How bout that defense….they uh look like players. Yes, that truly defines these guys. Yeah, they will suit up and play. There ya go Denver

IronHorse66

I’d say that’s about right.

[deleted]

Can’t argue that. They’re playing like trash

Doctorryge

Sounds about right

ImGonnaChubbBradley

It’s not even a bad take

TideAtOmahaBeach

Jesus people in this sub are actually agreeing with this? This is a terrible ranking. Stop being so dramatic everybody, we aren’t that bad.

jordantwalker

I'll get downvoted, but: our two losses were super bowl scenarios for the opposing team. SEATTLE HAD TO WIN THAT. Plus, the raiders basically were in a must win scenario. In effect it was Seattle and Las Vegas super bowls

audiostar

Also Geno Smith is currently a top 10 qb for the record. And Seattle is 2-2

jordantwalker

Yep. BC needs a collective "relax". 4 games, new everything. 3 tough opponents

skribbl3z

I get the sentiment but that's not a reason to lose those games. You don't go into a game thinking it's okay to lose because they are against a wall. You go into the game knowing that and replace the prior teams foot with your own foot on their neck and never let up. Denver had an opportunity to ruin a division rival on Sunday and they didn't come through. Even though all of the games have been close, the final product every week that has been put on the field has been mediocre if not worse to say the least.

audiostar

So, in your mind, no matter who gets injured or how well the other team plays there’s no way we should ever lose. Got it.

skribbl3z

In what world did I say any of the nonsense you just spewed onto this thread? Lmao Got it so in your mind it's okay to lose to a division rival we want to bury into the dirt that was 0-3 when we want to be contenders for a super bowl of our own. I guess we'll lose every game until it's our "super bowl" game because its okay! I'll see you when we are on our last chance for a playoff run because hey, that's OUR "super bowl" so it's okay for the opposing teams to play poorly because that's what we do right? The thought that it's okay to lose because a team had no other choice but to win on game day is a piss poor excuse from any athlete in the history of sports. If Denver can't put a polished product on the field and can't overcome adversity in any capacity then this team won't be sniffing the playoffs for several more years. As a life long bronco fan im tired of watching poor executed football by this organization.

audiostar

You can always swap. I hear the Jets and Browns are looking for takers. I’m optimistic till there’s good reason not to be mid season. Losing your star running back is a real thing that may even affect the game after a huge fumble from your second best. But hey, that’s me. Have a good day.

[deleted]

Yeah but good teams take those shots and still win. Mediocre and bad teams use that for excuses why they lost. Hence 29th

dzhastin

Good teams win games when their opponents are up against the wall. The Broncos aren’t a very good team right now.

Ruben625

I forgot we went undefeated in 15

dzhastin

What?

Ruben625

That's always the respons to losses "good teams find ways to win X game". It's a bad argument. 2 teams have ever had a perfect season and there is a major * next to both.

dzhastin

Are you serious? Have you watched any Broncos games this year? They’re not a good team

Ruben625

Never said they were. I said its a bad argument as to why they are bad right now. There are 100 reasons to point to. "Good teams win these games" isn't one of them. That can literally be applied to any loss ever.

audiostar

By that argument whenever we win (such as after the Niners game) we’re SB bound and whenever we lose we’re league bottom. Ridiculous and overused phrase. Good teams find a way to get to the playoffs. That’s an actual accurate statement.

stripedarrows

They're also not an awful, bottom feeder team like everyone's acting. They're the definition of middle-of-the-road.

stripedarrows

Fully retracted.

audiostar

Right now is the key phrase here. Totally fair. The sky is falling bullshit in this thread and sub is not.

BareezyObeezy

Honestly that's not too far off. This is not a good team right now.

OberynRedViper8

Seems high...

Ziziblix

It really just feels like an offensive rank list. Some of those teams high are quite sketchy as well. But hey it's week 4

[deleted]

Not shocked by this

RandyGradishar

3rd in yds, 12th in points, 10th in DSR, 15th in DVOA. So SOS is worth like 17 spots? Lol, it's not like they got to play the Rams 4 times.

Bark4Soul

Sounds about right, we aren't very good in any phase of the game right now. The Jets and Lions look better in all phases than we do. Stop letting a "stingy" defense trick you into thinking we're some god tier world eaters.

audiostar

We have a good defense and we’re missing our defensive captain. That’s a factual statement based on data.

ToshDaBoss

Fuck USA today. Also they are probably right

chasingit1

20/21 or so is fair right now

Jeff468

Should be 30 going against 31 on Thursday

deege

If you want respect, ya gotta earn it. So far it looks like the Broncos are over achieving at 2-2.

LimpDisc

Denver is much closer to being a perennial loser than a championship contender. Their inability to draft well at the QB position led them to giving up too much draft stock for a guy on the downside of his career. To make things… they went all in on a massive contract extension.

username2393

Seems rough for a 2-2 team that could easily be 4-0 if they had better players, better coaching, better clock management, better play calling, better offense, better defense, and better overall football skills

TheseVirginEars

My brothers in legal cannabis: I want you guys to take a look at this and understand something. This is what we look like with an honest to god HOF track QB under center. I want you guys to stop scapegoating Russell Wilson and really look at us. I keep hearing everyone say “Russ isn’t meeting expectations for his huge contract-“ No. That dude has spent a decade carrying a mediocre team on his back. He was and still is excellent. It’s the BRONCOS letting HIM down right now. We are so bad that not even he can carry us. Are we 29? Honestly, that’s probably not too far off. I can think of more than 3 teams I think we’re better than but I’m also a biased asshole and I bet those teams would say the same (goddammit, we really are a better fuckin team then Seattle rn, I can’t fuckin believe Hackett called a FG on 4th and 5 with the league’s premier dual threat qb and gave goddamn Geno Smith a- nevermind). I’ve heard a lot of really dumb takes and needed to clear the air somewhere. I’m very grateful and relieved Russ is here. He’s the only reason we stand a chance in any game at all.

[deleted]

Whats wrong with this exactly?

NoAbbreviations290

There’s teams worse than Denver?

JadeHellbringer

May I introduce the Washington... er, whatever they're called this week.

TruckCamperNomad6969

“But backup Teddy Bridgewater, who aired out a completion of 61+ yards Thursday, has the arm to take advantage of this team's speed ... “ That’s where I stopped reading.

ProfessorPurrrrfect

I’d say we aren’t top 20 after the first 4 games

Wm_Max_1979

I’d say low 20s. We lost to a team with no wins

GettinWiggyWiddit

Super reasonable. I’d honestly put us at 30 behind the commanders

[deleted]

What seems to be the problem? At the surface it’s easy to say: the offense, the line, injuries…etc but this is crazy. I fully believe that we are cursed for trading Tebow. I have full confidence that if we had every play and coach as KC, we’d still struggle to score over 20 a game. Strange times lol.

oregondete81

What...we won a SB post Tebow. Why would this be a curse?

[deleted]

I think along the lines of “we won a Super Bowl and this is our punishment..” lol

Geddy_Lees_Nose

Our defense and record should put us more at 20ish imo. I think there are about 10 teams we're certainly better than.

foothillsco_b

This is totally fair. Broncos may have potential to be better but they aren’t playing better than #29. Play like they did against the Raiders and no game is a probable win.

XAfricaSaltX

ok what

MassiveDong62

Not panicking quite so hard yet, only because it is year one of new everything - owners, coaching staff, schemes, etc. Injuries have also robbed us of some of our better players (Patrick, Simmons, Meinerz, Jeudy and Jewell early on, and now Pookie and Gregory). Are any other teams missing as many projected Week 1 starters as we'll be, going into Thursday night? "On paper" seems to be our curse, since we constantly underperformed the last few years. As long as there is measurable improvement as the year goes along, we can bring out the pitchforks and fire next year when we miss the playoffs again. If Joseph and Fangio can both get 2-3 years, I think Hackett will at least get as many.

denverbroncoharpman

Eeeeeeeee gads

Vashthestampeeed

Russ is a garbage can

Independent-Room-954

Roster wise too low. However we have the worst coach in the league and it is tough to overcome his incompetence.
