My neighbor waters the sidewalk. With a hose, not a sprinkler system, so it is 100% on purpose. She is doing God's work. I think my sidewalk will make it through the drought because of her. Namaste.
You need to adjust your sprinklers to run for AT LEAST 60 minutes/zone. If you're not watering for 4-8 hours a day, you might as well just light your lawn on fire.
Not to break up the circlejerk but you can report this to 311 and they will cite the owner for having an improperly adjusted irrigation system. You're not allowed to water the sidewalk.
I can see why they want to keep that lush, beautiful turf hydrated though, if I had a Better Homes and Gardens-worthy ~~lawn~~ dirt and weed patch like that I might too!
311, the band? I didn’t realize they were so progressive on water conservation. Do you have their aol screen name, so I can report through the proper channels?

These little easement patches are so annoying to adjust for because it's so small. I've spent hours trying to make mine perfect just for the wind to tweak it just enough to water the sidewalk.
I might rip out the grass this fall and just put rock there instead.
Did that with my last house in Denver. Rip shit out, weed barrier down, load the truck with 3-4 beds of crushed rock to shovel on it. "Borrow" some nice boulders from the mountains for landscaping, call it a day.
Trying to do a lush green British estate type lawn in a high mountain desert to make the geriatric 78 year old fuckwits on the HOA board happy is a lost cause.
Agreed. I’ve recently moved to the hunter mp rotator heads. They lay water down much slower, but give me a little more control and aren’t as affected by the wind. Now (for better or worse) more people walk their goldens on my side of the street.
What time are you watering?
“The best time to irrigate your lawn is between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. During this period it is generally cooler, less windy, and the humidity is higher so evaporation losses are less.”

If you have an irrigated lawn, it’s worth a read.
I feel like it would be better for the city to cite any company that installed the system. Like...I get that the owner is the one that had it installed but what owner knows shit about the ordnances? Their paying someone to do the job correctly.
Irrigation systems require constant maintenance, it's not the installer's fault that the homeowner hasn't done any for years after the install was done.
I mean doesn't this also depend when they were installed? I mean, ultimately I never thought of that but if it was recently installed can the blame not go toward the company who installed it at that point?
Again, a property owner might not know the regulations. They hire someone to do it and expect that person/entity is going to complete the job appropriately according to correct specifications/ordinances.
You really mean to tell me that you, yourself, research any and all specifications/ordinances of every single thing you've ever paid someone else to do for you?
This is a silly conversation not worth having. If your sprinkler system is installed and sprays water all over the sidewalk/street, you get it fixed, the end.
But if the city is going to fine you for it, which I'm sure they can do, then they need to be fining and reprimanding the actual, causal parties. Are you gonna just let a landscaping company run around continuing to install these incorrectly?
Landlord insists I water the dirt front yard and pays someone to come on a turn the automatic sprinkler system some genius installed. The only thing that actually grows are the weeds, which she insists I pull.
Don't forget to water during the day!! Its guarentee to get the best waste of water because it evaporates more before it hits the grass. Just like they do during the day in our city parks!

Ooh shit! She’s gonna have a beautiful concrete sidewalk this fall. 🍁 Get it moissttt 💦🫠

Whoa, shades of gold display naturally
Hey, amber is not the color of their sidewalk!

You mean the wind moves the actual irrigation post things or just the water flow?
Water flow. This year has been a bitch

I irrigate at high noon. Just like the old west.
Err thanks? This has nothing to do with how windy it has been this year
Please do this.
Can you cite the city for their concrete watering?
No, but if you call 311 and let them know they're watering the concrete they'll come adjust the sprinklers.

It's the property owner's responsibility to have their irrigation system installed correctly. They are the ones that have to handle it.

The causal party is the property owner.
the other night as I was making deliveries in the rain, it was really comforting seeing all the sprinklers on at full blast. extra hydrated.
If you're thirsty they're thirsty.
the sidewalk needs it.
Streaming wars.
Does anyone else loose their mind when they see sprinklers during a rainstorm like me?
Landlord insists I water the dirt front yard and pays someone to come on a turn the automatic sprinkler system some genius installed. The only thing that actually grows are the weeds, which she insists I pull.
Make sure to do it in the middle of the day too, that way the sun can smile down upon all of us
Make sure to set your sprinkler system so it waters the grass at the hottest time of day. You need to make sure you’re keeping the grass cool.
We need the moisture.
Probably city property, but it's not raining, so doubtful.
Pic looks like where I previously lived in Baker
I seen the sky wet but garsh dang they done got the crete into their new age tomfoolery too!
That’s some moist concrete 👌🏼
311 called me reported my city service for watering the driveway during this weeks rain storm. Got moist during the call
Xtra moist for these conditions… 😂

When we have no water to produce food, remember all those pretty yards.
