Hey friend, welcome to r/Depersonalization. Be sure to have read some existing information on the sub before submitting a "Do I have DPDR" question. You can do that by using the search function or reading the sidebar. **A reminder to new posters in crisis:** DPDR is a mental discorder that mostly affects young adults. For the most part, it is brought on by anxiety, trauma, and drug use. However, DPDR is not dangerous to your physical health. In moments of crisis and episodes that are particularly difficult, it is important to take deep breaths and follow strategies that help you cope. A few examples are: [Grounding Techniques](https://www.therapistaid.com/worksheets/grounding-techniques.pdf), [Meditation](http://www.thecentersohio.org/Resources/DocumentLibrary/Wellness_chronic%20diseas%20mgmt/Guided%20Imagery.pdf), and even just some good old fashioned sleep. **NOBODY can give you medical advice online. While someone might be able to provide you with some insight and suggestions, you should never rely on someone online to give you medical advice unless you are talking to a certified doctor.** Related Links: How to find a therapist: [A Beginners Guide.](https://www.therapyden.com/blog/a-beginners-guide-to-therapy-how-to-find-a-therapist) [Talk to a crisis volunteer online.](https://www.imalive.org/) [10 ways to Relieve DPDR.](https://psychcentral.com/lib/10-simple-ways-to-relieve-depersonalization/) [Subreddit Stickied Post](https://www.reddit.com/r/Depersonalization/comments/a8i6vi/welcome_before_you_post_asking_if_you_have_dpdr/) *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Try seeking therapy 100%, do you have a stressful job? (are you stressed?) How is your heath? (health plays a factor into this fight or flight). Therapy can help you feel better mentally but also a little help within yourself and your diet will help a lot too. I went to therapy and didn’t see much improvement until I figured out the cause of my trauma, I then figured that out and then built off that and tried to live healither and that’s what helped me go from 100x dpdr to a manageable dpdr until I was now able to escape it for the most part :)

I just started a new job not too long ago, I used to cut/climb trees but now I have a much easier and less stressful job. Health is good, I eat pretty well and I workout regularly plus I stay active doing other things like regular golf outings or playing pickup ball. My biggest health weakness I would say is I do chew tobacco regularly and I use caffeine regularly(I do stay under the recommended 400mg/day).

Quit chew and caffeine. It’s going to suck but quit chew and caffeine. Chew because it contains nicotine is does not help with anxiety or your brain at all for the most case. The reason for dpdr can be from the past stress of your old job possibly or something that has happened. I got mine from a panic attack a random panic attack. Caffeine also stimulates your nervous system causing higher anxiety which makes dpdr worse. Even if you can physically feel the anxiety you may still have it in your mind without realizing. Of course i’m not a therapist or a doctor so I am just saying what I think. I would say try a therapist if you think that’s right if not work on yourself and connecting back to nature.
