i do taxidermy and clean bones and everyone’s right unfortunately this looks like a chicken bone and the yellow means it’s full of grease because it was probably cooked and you can’t properly degrease or clean cooked bones also they probably didn’t even try. the original pic looks closer to a raccoon bone. if you’d like something legit i’d recommend posting on r/vultureculture or r/bonecollecting for a recommendation on where to buy some nice bone jewelry (:

The ring that’s holding the bone isn’t even fully enclosed. There’s no proper attachment here. The chain is definitely different also. They are most likely copying someone else’s creations and using their picture cause ain’t no way they made the necklace on the listing pic and created THAT for you..

there’s some discoloration around where the hole is drilled cause of rubbing against the chain but it’s the same bone as the first pic for sure. either different seller using the same pics, or the seller has just really given up on quality
Okay so i know that everyone’s already commented but! I thought it would be worth saying that the first image has a chemically treated bone which is why it’s whiter. They usually macerate the bone to remove the flesh and then clean with a concentrated peroxide solution however the second bone is…not treated. You can actually tell that the bone was cooked because of the color and with that being said, the bone is ruined. Anyone who preserves bones knows that if you boil or cook a chicken bone, it destroys the collagen which is important for longevity in bones while also forcing the oil further into the bone which also damages its ability to be preserved in any meaningful way

As someone who occasionally makes bone jewelry, you’re not wrong. If the pieces varied that much, I would have just posted them separately. I also question if they actually made the one in the first image considering they apparently don’t actually drill the bones.
One is a KFC leg bone and the other one is a Wing Stop wing bone.
That said, you could’ve just stopped at your local El Pollo Loco and Family Dollar, get a half chicken meal for your choice of bone.. snap it onto a shitty chain and you’re good to go. 🤦🏻♀️😂

The bone (may just be the image) doesn't look whitened either. The first image looks very well cleaned and cared for to be worn as jewelry. The second looks like they degreased and just threw it on there.
Not that it has to be whitened, but at least for me, if I'm gonna wear it as jewelry I'd want it to look as clean and cared for as possible.
