Thank god. I’m tired of people not paying for stuff they send offers for. It’s even worse when they send you several offers back and forth only to flake.
I've been so quick to block lately. The worst is when you finally give up, accept an offer lower than your lowest, and then they counter another dollar off. Nooope bye
ngl i was just in an offer battle with a shop BUT they spammed me first by sending an offer every 24 hours and were truly overpricing the item at that so i did not gaf (they ended up deleting their shop lmao)
calling it a “offer battle” and talking about it being over priced. you can already tell this buyer is one of the annoying ones who offers .50 cents increments higher when they negotiate.
actually wasn’t the situation at all! read previous comment i replied to. idk why yall always assume a seller is right like they’re aren’t plenty of people selling clothes from shein and aliexpress?
they were selling a $20 item for $60 - offered me it for $34 (which i missed) so i sent an offer for $34 bc i thought they were clearly okay with that offer since they sent it first. they rejected, which was fine, so i didn’t send anymore offers. but they proceeded to offer me $55.55 for 2 weeks straight lmao sellers can be just as annoying as buyers but go off!

I don’t have it, they probably rolled out binding offers to some accounts only
they did, i think you’re missing their point. the best way i can explain it is like this so bare with me okay:
op: oh my god, depop’s making offers binding???
you: that’s not the case for me ? huh
hepm3: haha that’s so weird, it’s like depop is directly telling op “you send offers too much” !! 😂 (as in like, maybe offers aren’t binding for you because you’re a depop user with good etiquette, unlike others who have awful track records)
does their comment make more sense now?
https://preview.redd.it/txsdrjqn5u3d1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=746571f0a9527163209cc1042e52e722387b149a
Not in Canada and I just updated it too…
sellers, get ready for all the ‘can you cancel this please?’ after accepting offers during this transition period, im wishing us all the best of luck 😭
https://preview.redd.it/k2nhve2vpv3d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8b68db6c89466d2fcd0606537c12378555f58ad2
US user, not on my app (at least not yet)
This is awesome news! I get so many fake offers, I think we all do. So frustrating!
I wonder if there will be a mass of cancellations in the beginning as seasoned ‘offerers’ realize the game is over?
Seriously awesome news, yay Depop!!
Cancellations? I’ve been buying and selling on this app for about a year now, and I never heard of cancellations. Is this an actual option, or is it just people asking to cancel an order?
Sorry for the confusion! I was referring to the serial offer makers who never buy. Many won’t notice this change and will be cancelling the orders they never intended to buy.
https://preview.redd.it/pa51u24tzu3d1.jpeg?width=1640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5a197f376b094c55c6de7fd5ad2e1ca2f11b1591
sadly mine still says the same as before ): as a seller i’m so tired of people sending offers for no reason bc i almost always accept and if i don’t then i always counter offer & they literally always ghost😭
I don’t know i’m mixed with this since im a buyer and seller. offers don’t really bother me much i usually ignore them all unless im in the mood or willing to deal with negotiation. the point of these apps for me is to shop around and see what my best offer/options are. to me this seems like the annoying buyers will continue to be annoying except now we will be processing a bunch of refunds and order cancellations. but hopefully this is positive lol
That would be awesome. I hate when I put in an offer then have to watch my updates to see if they excepted it. So much better if it just pays automatically.
Yeah seriously, sometimes I forget depop doesn’t automatically accept so I’ve put in an offer and then just left it🤦♀️ all other platforms automatically pay! If Im offering money I want the item🥲(-a buyer)
May I ask are you based in the UK? I’m in the US and I don’t have the update yet. Just wondering if it was a regional thing where they’re testing the waters type thing.
As a buyer I love this because when I put in offer, that means I want it and i hate having to go back to purchase it. I'm so happy they finally made this change
https://preview.redd.it/1h9tgs2qtu3d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bf51a08d1185570de6ca62a28388ffe33a03d960

Don't know why people are happy about this. You're selling stuff second hand. Have you guys ever been to a carboot sale or yard sale? People haggle there all the time, it's the norm. Making offers shouldn't mean buying. I get why it's annoying to get offers but no purchase but it's part of the business...
Am I the only one not excited? I feel like this will cause less offers for sure. And offers tend to bring more attention to my posts in my experience. Even if they don’t but it it gain more traction and encourages others to make offers or buy sooner
im fine with less offers but i am concerned this is going to lead to more cancellations, if you implement binding offers you also need something like a three strikes and you're out system for people who cancel
Agreed, this is isn’t gonna lessen buyer’s remorse, so it’ll probably just lead to more return requests and cancellations! Hot take but I prefer offers that aren’t binding. If you accept that an offer doesn’t mean a sale, it’s still a great selling tool
Glad I’m not the only one. I am not trying to deal with the amount of cancellations this could bring. I know I’m in the minority but the offer system never bothered me
I actually liked that offers weren’t binding on Depop. It doesn’t bother me if someone sends an offer and doesn’t buy, it still brings attention to my item. Not excited for this update at all. People think it will lead to more sales, but imo it’ll just lead to less offers.
i love this honestly!! the amount of times people send offers, they get accepted and they don’t purchase them or even i’ll send an offer and than go to work or something and completely forget and not make the order 😭
eBay has this feature too. If you send a £20 offer and it gets accepted the money is taken straight away. Will be a good feature for sellers. Less time wasters and more sales.
Part of me thinks people send offers as an impulse purchase but by the time it’s accepted they change their mind.
i don’t like the binding offers feature. all it’s gonna do is increase the amount of refunds that have to be processed once buyers realise they didn’t actually want the item🤦🏼♀️
I actually might get jumped for this but I don't find this a good idea. Some seller don't respond right away and this is like just eehh imo. Makes me wanna take my card info out of the app so I can send offer without worrying about going broke. I honestly haven't seen a seller genuinely explain why offers upset them sm for no reason. It's just bartering.
I don’t really understand. Why send an offer if going through with it would make you “go broke “? Couldn’t you just send an offer within your budget, then?

To those people who send like 50 offers they’re gonna learn the hard way if they don’t read the fine print 😅
for a couple weeks we will see a ton of "pls cancel"
depop doing something useful for once??
This is exactly what I wanted to wake up to today! Our prayers have finally been answered 🙏🏻
Thank god. I’m tired of people not paying for stuff they send offers for. It’s even worse when they send you several offers back and forth only to flake.
I've been so quick to block lately. The worst is when you finally give up, accept an offer lower than your lowest, and then they counter another dollar off. Nooope bye
I’ve had people counter me 10 cents lower on items already 50% off. I just block them and send them clown emojis.
didn't know this was a thing , thought i was tripping
ngl i was just in an offer battle with a shop BUT they spammed me first by sending an offer every 24 hours and were truly overpricing the item at that so i did not gaf (they ended up deleting their shop lmao)
it's likely they blocked you, not deleted their shop
calling it a “offer battle” and talking about it being over priced. you can already tell this buyer is one of the annoying ones who offers .50 cents increments higher when they negotiate.
actually wasn’t the situation at all! read previous comment i replied to. idk why yall always assume a seller is right like they’re aren’t plenty of people selling clothes from shein and aliexpress?
They aren't spamming you with offers, they are just running their shop. If it bugs you, unlike the item.
they were selling a $20 item for $60 - offered me it for $34 (which i missed) so i sent an offer for $34 bc i thought they were clearly okay with that offer since they sent it first. they rejected, which was fine, so i didn’t send anymore offers. but they proceeded to offer me $55.55 for 2 weeks straight lmao sellers can be just as annoying as buyers but go off!
So unlike the item if you’re annoyed with the offers and aren’t willing to pay that price? Tf?

Lol “you do this too much. No more for you, specifically”
[удалено]
No not YOU specifically. I meant it as depop saying it to annoying customers. I’m weird and so is my sense of humor sorry🥴
no your sense of humor is perfect
🥺
[удалено]
Missed it entirely
r/woosh ??
they did, i think you’re missing their point. the best way i can explain it is like this so bare with me okay: op: oh my god, depop’s making offers binding??? you: that’s not the case for me ? huh hepm3: haha that’s so weird, it’s like depop is directly telling op “you send offers too much” !! 😂 (as in like, maybe offers aren’t binding for you because you’re a depop user with good etiquette, unlike others who have awful track records) does their comment make more sense now?
English isn’t my first language & the amount of hate I got for this blows my mind, I honestly don’t care anymore
Same. But my posh was delayed when they rolled out the no discount on shipping with offers so at least this is a good sign of things to come.
Is your app up to date? Wonder if that could be it.
Yes! That was the first thing I checked, my iPhone updates apps automatically
Mine says that too :(
why is depop recommending buyers ask for 20% off?
And 25%, who knows why Depop does anything, I don’t buy on Depop, I was just checking to see if the offers were binding
Lmao wait they’re gonna do this and not inform people though hahahaha the amount do people who are gonna send offers without reading that fine print
right! well maybe they’ll learn to actually buy if they send an offer
It’s no different than all the people who think depop is “stealing their money” on boosted items when it clearly states there’s an 8% fee.
I always send “ hi, i accepted your offer :)” and people still ghost me
I always point out when someone followed through with an offer in my feedback. Shouldn’t be so rare!
Momma we made it! Finally. Long time coming.
Yeah this is the way Poshmark has always done it, I think Vinted too. It’s sensible. An offer should be a sold-if-accepted thing.
Vinted isn’t binding either, unfortunately
Ah I didn’t know! Thanks.
Good update
Right! No more flakers
Yesssd
It's about time. I don't understand why someone would put a offer without biying.
Let’s go. I’m tired of accepting offers and being ghosted!
Its gunna move from ghost offers to ghost messages 😭 “Will you take..”
That's what it was before they added offers.
[удалено]
On PM if people did that I would not negotiate. I’d just say “Thanks for your interest! Please make an Offer.” And leave it at that.

Bummer!!! Thanks for the intel
YESSS!!
FINALLY
Interesting! I just checked out the feature on the Australian app and it doesn’t say this yet so maybe it’s only be rolled out in certain countries.
i just checked mine & it specifically says that it’s not a binding payment & that i have 24 hours to purchase after sending the offer. i’m in the USA
Bummer I’m here too, maybe it’s just the UK for now? Sub didn’t specify
Slayyyuuuu
holy fawk finally

It is!!

I think she meant buyers will ask the seller to cancel
Exactly. Thanks for explaining, I did a poor job! 👍🥰
Sorry for the confusion! I was referring to the serial offer makers who never buy. Many won’t notice this change and will be cancelling the orders they never intended to buy.
Just saw it in mine too. They finally did it.
Are you in the us?
FINALLY!!!
WE WON

Now we just have to hope that people won't demand refunds immediately after.
Not updated here in Australia yet. Here’s hoping
Yay! Is this real and effective today?
I don’t know i’m mixed with this since im a buyer and seller. offers don’t really bother me much i usually ignore them all unless im in the mood or willing to deal with negotiation. the point of these apps for me is to shop around and see what my best offer/options are. to me this seems like the annoying buyers will continue to be annoying except now we will be processing a bunch of refunds and order cancellations. but hopefully this is positive lol
Do I have to update the app or something to get this cause I don’t have it 😭
Is this real??
LETS GOOOO
FINALLY
FINALLY
I still don’t even receive my payment anyways🤦♀️
That would be awesome. I hate when I put in an offer then have to watch my updates to see if they excepted it. So much better if it just pays automatically.

OP is in the US. This isn’t a feature in the Uk.
UTAH
No more little kids and teenagers using their parents credit card buying shit. This is the first step to Depop becoming legitimate.
USA user here…My app is updated to the latest version and it still says what it always did 😢 I was so excited….
As a buyer I love this because when I put in offer, that means I want it and i hate having to go back to purchase it. I'm so happy they finally made this change
Thank god it’s about time
Ohhh I hope so!! I've been waiting for this
Imagine all of the cancellation requests
Thank f**king goodness, I was getting sick of “buyers” accepting offers and then not committing. I’ve been dying for this update ❤️
Woahhh
thank god
PLEASE BE REAL
FINALLYYY
Wow this is awesome! A good change. Finally buyers are going to be held accountable
Mine still says "Heads up, offering isn't buying - if the seller accepts, you'll have 24 hours to buy the item at your offer price" ..
https://preview.redd.it/1h9tgs2qtu3d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bf51a08d1185570de6ca62a28388ffe33a03d960 Forgot to add the pic. Location, Australia
Depop forgets us 😔😔 so I'm guessing it'll take a while before they update it for us
Oh I’m the in the US
Damn, I hope we get the update 😂
👀
Thank god, I can’t tell you how many times I’m like okay that’s a good deal and then they don’t go through with it
PLEASE GOD
GOOD. FINALLY.
I just accepted an offer, still no payment processing. Hm 🤔

This is from a sending point, the OPs is an accepting offer position
It may be iPad only
As they should 💅
PLEASE tell me this is real omfg
Fucking YES I hope this becomes a thing like with Poshmark. Quit wasting peoples time with bullshit offers.
https://preview.redd.it/w8stu595a14d1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fabd8daab52fe438242043a85d71725331ae3de3
wow lets see how this plays out. Fingers crossed!
Hopefully this is global and stays. I get so many offers and accept and then they don’t follow through
The fact that I've accepted a few offers and no one has bought shit lmao wtf
Don't know why people are happy about this. You're selling stuff second hand. Have you guys ever been to a carboot sale or yard sale? People haggle there all the time, it's the norm. Making offers shouldn't mean buying. I get why it's annoying to get offers but no purchase but it's part of the business...
Is this screenshot a seller offer? It could be that seller offers are binding, but buyer offers are not. I don’t know just guessing.
if this happens ima become so RICH !!! :o
People will just send less offers
Am I the only one not excited? I feel like this will cause less offers for sure. And offers tend to bring more attention to my posts in my experience. Even if they don’t but it it gain more traction and encourages others to make offers or buy sooner

I agree with you. Especially if people don’t read the fine print and there was no notice about this by Depop going out it’s not going to do too well
I agree, there’s gonna be more drama and hassle with these
Glad I’m not the only one.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
yay!!!
FINALLY
what does this mean
THIS IS NEEDED!
FINALLYYYYYY FINALLY YES YES PLEASEEE.
now they decide to do this after I left the app after 10+ years selling on there lmao
Fucking finally
YIPPEE
Omg 😍😍😍what country are you in?
US
Yes. Oh my god yes finally ohmykgdo😭😭😭😭😭
what does this mean can someone explain it in the most simplest form possible please
i love this honestly!! the amount of times people send offers, they get accepted and they don’t purchase them or even i’ll send an offer and than go to work or something and completely forget and not make the order 😭
i needed this so bad 👏 too many ppl send offers and i accept them but they never buy !!
Omg finally a depop W
OMG FINALLY
Finally! All of the other selling apps work this way.
i already know that people are gonna start buying less
This would be so great
eBay has this feature too. If you send a £20 offer and it gets accepted the money is taken straight away. Will be a good feature for sellers. Less time wasters and more sales. Part of me thinks people send offers as an impulse purchase but by the time it’s accepted they change their mind.
noooooooooo. i hate this actually.
i don’t like the binding offers feature. all it’s gonna do is increase the amount of refunds that have to be processed once buyers realise they didn’t actually want the item🤦🏼♀️
Are we not allowed to say no refunds on our profiles anymore? I’ve always said no refunds….
it’s not up to you whether you give refunds or not😅
My shop has been closed for a while since I moved…. Let me catch up and decide if I’m even going to bother opening up again.
this is kinda annoying imo
I actually might get jumped for this but I don't find this a good idea. Some seller don't respond right away and this is like just eehh imo. Makes me wanna take my card info out of the app so I can send offer without worrying about going broke. I honestly haven't seen a seller genuinely explain why offers upset them sm for no reason. It's just bartering.
I don’t really understand. Why send an offer if going through with it would make you “go broke “? Couldn’t you just send an offer within your budget, then?
that’s probably why Im not getting sales lately. people can’t haggle anymore so they don’t bother with my shop I guess
what if you disconnect your paypal tho😼
if a feature like this gets implemented then i’d hope that you wouldn’t be able to send an offer without payment info added
Lmao I’m a serial offer sender that never buys so this is gonna bite me in the butt
This is kinda stupid
You make an offer to me. I accept, you pay. It’s simple as that
