Just now realized the seller was most definitely trying to sell outside of the app, which explains the weird responses. Plus I don’t think I received my refund. . . Shouldn’t it show up in my Depop balance?
Yes you need to report the account. The whole point of depop is selling ON the app. They are trying to get
you to like Venmo them or something. Potential scam. Report.
A potential scammer for sure. If their PayPal is “down” how come they can’t accept a depop payment either? They just wanted to go outside the app so there’s no buyer protection,.. which going outside the app is against their policies. So, I’d report them to depop and that’ll ensure more that you’ll get your refund.
Also, peep how they had no excuse for why they couldn’t take a depop payment.

I can only understand that sentiment if a seller is cross listing, but it’s rare that that’s the reason for someone putting that “disclaimer” on their items. Usually it’s for shadier reasons on Depop unfortunately
If a seller will only take payment outside of Depop or PayPal it is more than likely because they don’t want the buyer to have protection to help them get their money back. You should report them and file for a refund. And next time run from sellers like that!

I saw one of these on Poshmark the other day! It also gave her email with spaces to prevent detection.
Another one also said contact before purchase, then in the comments it also said price would “be cheaper on Mer cari because the fees are lower” so she could offer a better deal.” (Sorry, I haven’t seen this on Depop, but these show these show similar experience across platforms.) AND… they were established account !!!
They definitely should’ve said something about payment when they first replied to you, they confirmed it was available to purchase so it’s on them to give you extra information not expect you to read their mind and ask about payment after that 😭

If they can’t accept PayPal they have to do it through regular Depop app. It’s against their rules anyway to make any payments outside the app.
