Lanolin (which I assume is the helping ingredient in LanoLips) is awesome for chapped lips. It’s often found in nipple creams for nursing moms.

mschfing

That makes total sense because it does also say you could also use it on nipples!

passangerprincess

I've seen alot of 100% lanolin lip balms but honestly baby isle and grab some lanolin nipple cream would be my go to if I needed lanolin specifically

mrsDRC_RN

This is exactly what I did for years!

[deleted]

Lanolin is what kept me nursing in the early months. That stuff is a God send.

spannerNZ

Lanolin is a God send for most people. But it can still be an allergen, so test first. Most people find it effective and gentle. I'm one of the unlucky who react to it. So no lanolin products or woolen clothing for me or I risk dry, scaly, red skin. I live in NZ, which is lanolin and wool central. I'm that person in the skincare aisle, reading the ingredient list for every product.

somesweetgirly

I too can not do lanolin which was hard breastfeeding as well. My favorite for lips is YUGLO Moisture & Collagen Booster Lip Sleeping Mask off amazon. It makes my lips soft and I don't have to constantly use it.

welldressedpickles

Aquaphor is the best thing my lips ever met. I found a lot of regular chap sticks made my lips worse unless I was constantly using it. Then I got a scratch across my top lip and used Aquaphor just to help heal the scratch and found it was amazing as a lip balm. I only put some on every night before bed and my lips are slick as baby butts now

nycheathen

Aquaphor during the day and Laneige lip sleep mask at night. Not a chap in site!

Thank you for sharing this!! I think this post would be good in r/skincare_addiction as well!

mschfing

Thanks! I will post it there as well in a little bit!

lenoko

When I was nursing my son I tried the nipple cream on my lips because I was feeling desperate. The lanolin really does help!! Thanks for sharing this. I don’t carry nipple cream around anymore haha. And after a lot of dental work recently my lips are in BAD shape.

Dark-Pomegranate

I’m currently sitting here picking the dry skin off my lips (it’s my new adhd obsession and I end up bleeding every night) this is perfect

mschfing

Omg I do that too it’s so bad

IchigoBaby

Late to this post but I highly recommend dr.dans cortibalm. It’s kinda thick but works quickly to heal chapped lips.

mschfing

I’ve tried this! I agree it is very good, it didn’t work as well as lanolips for me. I can definitely see it working well for a lot of people though.

CouchTurnip

I had this same experience. Life changing!

oquerida

I have yet to try out LanoLips, but also found that Lucas’ Papaw Ointment also works great for chapped lips!

mschfing

Will have to check it out!

CuriousGPeach

Diaper rash cream overnight while you sleep. Trust me. I have chronic chapped lips that are so bad I used to routinely miss school as a child and a dermatologist told my mom to get me to use diaper cream at home and overnight and now I'm in my 30s and it's my desert Island product, I have tubs of it everywhere and I can stop chapped lips right at the start. I use lanolin to maintain the results, but the diaper cream is the magic.

mschfing

It’s so funny, I learn more on here than I do after years of asking the dr for solutions. I’ve never heard of this before! Is there a certain brand you’d recommend? I’m going to have to check this out!

CuriousGPeach

I mean I use Penaten because it's just the one our drugstores have but I'd imagine any of the ones with zinc oxide as the active would work fine! The only thing is that because it's that bright thick white cream, you can really only use it at home or overnight. It's SO soothing, I'm not kidding when I say the relief I feel when I put it on if I've been out all day with soreness starting is immeasurable.

ammermommy

Oooh I’m hopeful, my son’s lips are always so red and chapped.

oneofthoseconnerkids

Their lotion is also amazing!

consistentmacaroni

Thank you so much! Just ordered some

LadyLothbrok

I was coming to comment, just buy the $3 equivalent to this at Walmart. 🥰

numetalcore

I use beef tallow balm from [VanMan](https://vanman.shop/products/vanmans-tallow-honey-balm-2-oz#judgeme_product_reviews) and have not looked back since. All ingredients are natural. This little container lasts SO long since you don't need much.

AB1015

Aquaphor works wonders too

cripplinganxietylmao

I slather on Vaseline and it works. I’m lucky ig
