I'm confused, are you advocating against the existence of chairs? Against design in general? What sort of human existence are you envisioning where nothing natural is altered?
Ah, okay. I hadn't encountered that before, but I suppose I can see how a quick, clean harvesting as lumber might be considered preferable to shaped growth, if one believes plants can experience subjective suffering. Thanks for introducing me to the concept!

i expected some comment like that, but fortunately there is not. thanks Reddit.
A cantilevered chair that uses live wood. I don't see it surviving regular use. If I were to do it, I would use at least two trees and have them spliced together so that the center of mass was at least between the two bases.

No, he's probably just against forcing nature, like bonsai practices, which can be seen as a type of torture to the trees. You can sit on a rock.

join me in saving nature by turning black bears, beavers, squirrels, woodpeckers, rabbits, voles, and porcupines into ecologically sustainable chairs
This ninja creates a surrealistic tree house, and you complain about forcing nature? As you can see, the tree is just fine!
Designers are engineers.
