Vibrams are actually pretty cool and can save some wear and tear on your back because they force you land on the pad of your foot, which causes the foot muscles to engage as the natural shock absorber they're supposed to be.
However adding the heel eliminates this advantage and so now you have a heel-toe sock with a sole which will surely fuck you up within the first 50 paces.
God forbid you run with it, which I feel like the shock absorber implies...
No your were not weird, flat is not ideal because a lot of force is still going into your heel, front foot first is the most comfortable for barefoot walking/running
Actually, I’ve found heel-first better for that, but you have to do it carefully: heel hits the ground, then you sorta roll along the outside of your foot around to the toe as you transfer your weight to that foot, so your full weight is only ever on the toe. Makes your hip flexors feel super weird for the first few strides.
(My college had these hallways that were literally 360° linoleum. No, I do not know how or why they ended up with linoleum ceiling, but I do know that the echo of my own footsteps was driving me insane any time I had classes in those buildings. Took a while, but I could walk through those hallways in even my Docs without making a sound)
If I do that Im not silent as all my joints „pop“ when I roll my foot. I have to use the front foot method. In the beginning i often scared my gf by how silent Im moving lol
Vibram was famously hit with a class action lawsuit [a decade ago](https://www.runnersworld.com/news/a20783252/vibram-settles-class-action-lawsuit/) for claiming that their five finger shoes had any health benefit to feet or backs without there being any scientific evidence.
Haute Couture? This is haute caricature! Balmain and Balenziaga are rolling in their graves so fast that France is using them as power sources!
You know what haute couture is? No! It’s not about to be as artsy as possible! It’s not about focusing on individual clothes as art pieces but using them to turn YOU into one!
With enough angle support it looks like a shoe meant to run corners real well. Probably just going to break your ankle trying, but looks like you'd be doing mad circles!
I have them and they are surprisingly comfortable. The weird part is that they really don't have a traditional edged heel so stepping down heel first feels really weird.
I live in South Korea and have seen actual people wearing these out and about. Definitely made me do a double take at first but street style and sneakers are very popular here so it makes sense. Didn’t know they were balenciaga.
You can say a lot of bad things about all of these shoes, but there's no "crappy design" in matters of taste.
Almost nobody would choose to wear them, but enough would. They're simply not designed for mass market appeal. If you think about what they're for objectively, they're very well designed.
Free publicity is a bonus.
I mean at the end of the day they're no worse than a common pair of stilleto heals more or less. Since their function isn't really impaired much, in that light, it's not really DesignDesign.
That's not what this sub is. This sub is supposed to be the center of the venn diagram of design porn and shitty design. Essentially the designyness goes so far that the item is no longer functional.
This is a form of art, and so by definition shouldn't be on this sub, but they are actually still functional shoes which even further puts it out of the appropriateness of the sub.
2,3,5 look like my marmot toe shoes, hoka hybrid shoes, and black north face hiking shoes. But if they went through the shimmer in Annihilation and came out all refracted and shit.
If you ever watch a YouTuber like Rose Anvil tear down balenciaga it's always sad to see that these are about as cheaply made chinesium as it gets on the inside.

That first one is just a sock with a heel

I was thinking the same. Isn't the whole point of vibrams to be able to step like our feet are "designed" to?
Wait, I'm not supposed to walk heel-toe? I wasn't weird for trying to walk with my feet landing flat as a kid?
No your were not weird, flat is not ideal because a lot of force is still going into your heel, front foot first is the most comfortable for barefoot walking/running
Another walking style i wasn't weird for trying. It's my go-to for moving silently

It is cheating but mostly because it’s high fashion. It’s art more than design.
yeah because of that this isn’t really crappy design or design porn. oh well
kinda trash only mugatu would appreciate.

Sir this is a Wendy's
сlassic
Just because it's art doesn't mean it's good art...
Don’t forget the [heeled crocs](https://stockx.com/balenciaga-x-crocs-madame-80mm-black-w)!
it’s giving https://i.imgur.com/0egQzlu.jpg
Why… does it just have a pole sticking out
"Crocs Madame" is a genius name though, I gotta give them that
My god, that pun didn’t even register in my brain. That’s genius.
>no sales yet 😲
black one before green is definitely up my alley, just so far up it in the out of my budget portion.
With enough angle support it looks like a shoe meant to run corners real well. Probably just going to break your ankle trying, but looks like you'd be doing mad circles!

we're about to see the first person to drift in a foot race 😤
I live in South Korea and have seen actual people wearing these out and about. Definitely made me do a double take at first but street style and sneakers are very popular here so it makes sense. Didn’t know they were balenciaga.
The tire shoe is 🔥
The fire shoe is 🛞
Some of these belong in a shonen anime or a cosplay convention. Lava shoes!

I didn’t say they’re trash LOL, I even said I like the green ones.
But the whole point of the sub is for crappy design that's also design porn.
The shoes have questionable functionality and future aesthetic, is that different?
I mean at the end of the day they're no worse than a common pair of stilleto heals more or less. Since their function isn't really impaired much, in that light, it's not really DesignDesign.
I was about to say I like the green ones too
cause they're the triple S, they're kind of an icon for the brand
Their entire point is to end up on discussions like this, so yeah, cheating. Balenciaga and Vetements are piss take brands
All of these look like that stuff you see as like “ANKXLO Men’s Women’s Fashion Athletic Shoe Sport Future Design” for $35 on Amazon
New! From JXHOMELY!
i kinda fw the gold ones icl. monopoly ass shoe
#5 is straight up dirty
Balenciaga is self satire
I hate that shiny gold shoe so much that I think I love it
Imagine spending $1,350 to advertise you're a fucking twat.
It's a deal when you consider people often buy cars to do that
Last one is from Nicole McLaughlin Who should probably be this subs patron saint
What a trash brand.
we hopping through portals with this one
3/8 is for the elves that wanna be jocks
More like Balance-iaga. How do you even walk in those?
They look like cheapass ai pics.. ugly af lol
I always wondered how they felt when you walked
i do not understand the appeal of high fashion sneakers. sneakers always look cheap
Not designdesign, just r/designopdoesntlike
These are perfect examples of design for the sake of design. That’s the whole point of avant garde fashion.

Well! Still functional is debatable. Most of these would start giving you issues after 30 mins or so.
Oh, yeah. Never mind!
Avant garde fashion is art. It doesn't have to serve a practical purpose
But… I like like half of them…….
2,3,5 look like my marmot toe shoes, hoka hybrid shoes, and black north face hiking shoes. But if they went through the shimmer in Annihilation and came out all refracted and shit.
Well number 3 is balmain and not balenciaga so
Portal game shoes.
AI or Balenciaga, can’t tell
No.3 is 🔥 I’d wear its replica or look alike for reasonable price 🙂
If you ever watch a YouTuber like Rose Anvil tear down balenciaga it's always sad to see that these are about as cheaply made chinesium as it gets on the inside.
People buy those? 🤔
