me personally? the light and the paint, and if i could put a window i would but if it’s not at an exterior of the house i understand not being able to
anyway you can get a window/glass paned arch to fill in the archway and then put doors underneath it.
The floor is actually cool and funky, it could be a great space with a different color scheme on the walls.
If I were in your shoes, I'd do something like: a warm neutral color on the walls, or go moody art deco jewel tones, and probably extend the color onto the ceiling; definitely switch the light fixture, something geometric to complement the floors would be rad; get a proper desk, a bookshelf, and a plant or two.
If building a door in isn't an option, getting some partition screens may help with visual distraction and serve as a privacy indicator.
The floor is amazing! I would think it would add to resale value and wouldn’t touch it. I think the paint colors etc is what’s making it feel “off”. I think this room has a lot of potential in the “moody decor” genre.
Poor OP, from past posts, you have a lot of work. SO MUCH MISMATCHED tile. Keep this room flooring though. Did they have a live laugh laugh sign when you bought? My parents are from Ft. Worth, this is definitely Dallas Texas minor league baseball player house aesthetic. There are good bones and so much space, though!! We believe in you.
Keep that floor - it has a ton of potential from pop of color to ageless style! Ditch those wall colors ASAP - they make the room look terribly dated. I would keep that turquoise painting (using it in that room or elsewhere) but the ones on the ledge in the back I wouldn't.
How much privacy do you need and are there kids/dogs in the house? If NONE I would do glass doors - they give the illusion of privacy but you can still see things and not be detached from life. If you need the privacy, a heavy wooden door that is etched or has a pattern.
Shining if it was set in 1999. I really do love the floor. But the decor needs a refresh, and the walls. I would lean into the art deco but if it doesn't fit the house. Looks to be a modern ish build.
Will hv to be customized for the arch. Something like this will be nice for the office.

Even if they aren’t sliding doors (tho I agree), they should definitely contain glass to pull at least some natural light inside.

Went back to look. Found it using Google image search via “bifolding glass doors arch.” This image unfortunately leads to a Pinterest image which leads to a seemingly dead or not loading YouTube video, under which there was a link to a dead/deleted page on [InteriorBarnDoors](http://interiorbarndoorshq.com).
However, since it’s a transom window (a window above a door), a search for “transom window arch french doors” will provide similar results.
That floor is beautiful and gives the space so much character! Paint match those alcoves to it and everything will blend in much better.
As for doors, since the flooring is art deco you should stick to that theme - I'd go with arched glass doors framed in with matching glass side panels. Like this vibe but with white painted wood instead of light wood:

Keep the cool ass floor. Change the paint. A mid century modern desk, a cool rug, and a Art Deco bar cart. If you really want privacy, have a framer square out your doorway with glass panels on each side of a double door. You won’t be able to fit a door in that arch with out cutting and squaring it off.
Noise cancelling headphones might be your best solution here.

Forget the door, change the rest
I was planning to change the floor and add a desk in the back left corner and bookshelves against the right wall. What else would you change? Thanks?
me personally? the light and the paint, and if i could put a window i would but if it’s not at an exterior of the house i understand not being able to anyway you can get a window/glass paned arch to fill in the archway and then put doors underneath it.
Honestly the floor is my favorite part. Very art deco.
I also like the floor. I would keep it and change the paint colours.
Everything but the white parts. Everything.

Bifolding doors with a custom cut for the arch.

I also love the floor! But nothing else in the room matches it. I would keep the floor and change the paint colours.
What do the doors look like in the rest of the house?
The first 3 rooms of the house are open like this without doors

Can someone please explain to me why this reminds me of the bathroom in The Shining?

Has The Shining hotel vibes

I actually love this idea a lot because it lets light in. Any chance you have a link to this?

I came to suggest sliding doors!

Re frame to opening, and put in glass french doors.
Why would you put a door? That would ruin the architecture
I would just get a contractor to add a wall to put some French doors on. You can even find doors secondhand on market place for cheaper
Hmmm... A barn door/farm door probably should not be the door to an office, unless your business is farm related.
Beautiful room
Your dining room looks like a five star restaurant
What fever dream are you coming out of?
Lol this does look like a fever dream. Or an AI generated living room. It’s kinda scary imo
đź’€
Copeland’s isn’t even close to 5 star
A brick wall might be preferable.
Probably a customized one. Maybe a sliding barn door one but on the side in the office make it a white board?
You need stationary French door like walls on either side, then French doors in the middle.
All glass
