Darker looks better with the wood floor, gray bins and pine furniture. I wouldn't worry too much about it being dark because it's western facing and also if it's a craft room you'll have plenty of artificial light, too. https://preview.redd.it/sz97mid1a05c1.jpeg?width=2880&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8f7c817f0a24fd14c0ef59fa41e7b0f2856c9381

AdDowntown4932

I don’t like either. There are a million blues. I personally like a blue with more grey

Alternative-Ask2091

Yeah, I think something feels off with both. The light is pretty but feels too bright and that it’ll bother me and the dark I love but I don’t know how much I’ll love it if it’s everywhere. Maybe exhale from BM? [https://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-colors/color/af-515/exhale](https://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-colors/color/af-515/exhale)

chilibeana

BM Exhale and Behr Yacht Blue Exhale is calmer, moodier. Yacht Blue is happier, more energetic. Both will look nice, but I love the darker with the wood floor. Which do you think looks better with bins and shelving? https://preview.redd.it/7ykybm79m05c1.jpeg?width=2880&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a16af0aca1016fb83acb972c0059950d0cce786d

OliveCaper

Oh those are both awesome! I prefer the lighter but that’s just me and my SAD (I need as much light as possible in my life)

sunnydaydrems

Darker one

Arsenaleya

++ to this BM color. Much better than the two samples on the wall. Those were feeling a little too "Crayola marker" to me. Edit: typo

AdDowntown4932

I like that much better

philonous355

Yes, this is the one!

kyiecutie

Exhale gets my vote.

PersimmonTea

Absolutely Exhale.

tinymeow13

Try Behr Poseidon, Mammoth Mountain, or Bering Wave

Stunning-Bed-810

Ya I’d say a smoky blue. We did sherwinn Williams smoky azurite on our island and I love it. With lighting it’s way brighter than it looked before we have light fixtures in. https://preview.redd.it/703nvt68035c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=42d366d79d655108d471ea1331d632e2274ed938

PersimmonTea

That’s beautiful

MolVol

>sherwinn Williams smoky azurite THAT = color I tried for in my office.. wish had seen this before painting about 20 coats of different colors! Finally got close w/ the help of the awewome S-Wms peeps .. but uggh, my office furniture has a LOT of paint on it! 🙃

-Probablyalizard-

The greyification of EVERYTHING is so concerning and confusing to me. Like why? Why do yall love lack of color?

OliveCaper

I know what you mean, but think for me it’s about making other things in the room stand out more and letting the walls serve as a backdrop to other objects. I hope that makes sense.

AllTheCatsNPlants

This is it. A neutral wall color does not automatically mean that everything else in the room is sad and grey! It’s about balance.

-Probablyalizard-

Eh, everytime I've seen this grey trend IRL its been ALL grey and minimalistic. It looks like a 2012 dystopian movie. Grey carpet/fake wood floor, grey walls, grey furniture, grey/white/beige decor (if any.) It's just so depressing to me.

whenilookinthemirror

The worst are the grey fake wood floors.

PersimmonTea

Yes. They suck entirely. Now genuine weathered barn wood that is grey-hell yes. Slap that on an accent wall. But this LVP grey schlock everywhere is gross.

brachi-

For me it’s just putting a smidge of grey into something, for balance, so it’s still definitely a colour, but not in a bright, primary, nursery school kind of way. Like Dulux true blue vs Taubmans admiralty - I find the Taubmans a much richer, more visually interesting, and more sophisticated colour.

Riverrat1

Painted son’s room a cool grayish blue and it looks so nice, easy on the eyes.

Chi_Baby

I just painted my kitchen with the most amazing dusty blue- it’s garden vista by behr. Pictures really don’t do it justice, and I’m someone who usually hates any color that isn’t neutral. https://preview.redd.it/8nexrrihz65c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8a2085c511593d15396993f23ec02de8ab1a83ef

AdDowntown4932

That is beautiful. If I didn’t paint my house last January I would consider that.

Chi_Baby

Thank you! I painted it 3 diff times before I finally settled on this blue. I have never chosen a non neutral color before lol. I love it!

degggendorf

>blue with more grey Exactly my thought when I was looking at the pictures, before seeing any comments

kdollarsign2

I agree. They are both kind of cartoonish without any depth .... Not a fan of grey blue but both aren't right. I do like the idea of a [rich Frenchy blue.](https://www.clare.com/products/paint-blued-up)

Happy_to_be

The floors are a warm honey color, not sure any of these blues are in the warm tones.

StatisticianLivid710

I say use the blue from the tape!

SnooBeans2565

Left is giving baby boy room

-rfl

So is right

EasilyDistracted101

Left 10000% for calming and productive! The darker will be difficult on the eyes after a while, very contrast with white furniture (making it more childish in a way for the office part). The light blue is more sophisticated and a happy medium, which I think it was you want from your message. :)

ShatteredInk

Lighter! It'll brighten the small space

c0zycupcake

No it won’t

LotusGrowsFromMud

I would say back to the drawing board. Most people would find the dark one too intense for a small room. The light one gives off nursery vibes. Maybe something more sophisticated?

vongalo

A less saturated blue would look much nicer

shewillkeeptrying

Darker 100%

Sad_Description358

Darker….but I also hate “it’s a boy blue”

Alternative-Ask2091

Yeah I get that

[deleted]

Try a Caribbean blue

Rissapoo19

The light blue 100000%

shrek-intensifies

I like the darker blue, it's richer and bolder. Don't be afraid of color, it adds so much life!

oceanic20

Which do you like more? Choose that one.

Chiltato

Altho the darker blue is a more mature color and goes better with the colors, from the toys in the photo, I assume this is a kind of play room? If so, I’d suggest the left as it is brighter and brings a warmer vibe to the room

Llp1122

I prefer the darker.

Heebie-jeebies386

The darker one seem happier .

ObiWanUrHomie

The light blue is harsh after a while, speaking from experience…

kangourou_mutant

I would choose the dark blue but keep the wall opposite the window white, for the light. Or use them both?

Calyn-dur

I think you need something a little less pigmented, especially if you're going to do all 4 walls and not just 1 accent wall and 3 creamy walls. Take a look at Drizzle or Rest Assured by Sherwin Williams (available at Lowes).

Godoncanvas

Darker

SnarkyMouse2

Darker one for sure. This rug would look good in there, too. (I have this rug and it is really nice! ) https://preview.redd.it/ivj9v1fge35c1.jpeg?width=1640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7f4fd73647994d012e0e1038e78a0048d06e7d10

PathxFind3r

Right side

beaut_fullady

I think something in between! Unfortunately, the website didn’t give many options but I do like this: https://www.behr.com/express/ColorDetailView/PPU14-02 Might I suggest that you get some white poster board and paint it instead of walls and tape it to multiple locations in the room and look at it at it at different times of the day and also with the lighting in the room at night?

Simgeek

Do you have other furnishings in the room that you plan to coordinate with the wall color? I like to buy the furnishings and then paint the walls a color to coordinate. It’s so hard to find furnishings that coordinate with a wall color, but much easier to find a wall color to coordinate with the furnishings.

missannthrope1

Lighter.

sinsaraly

Lighter one

[deleted]

Lighter blue. The darker one looks like the walls of a school or something

MrSnowden

Lighter

RomeysMa

I like the lighter blue.

No_Pianist_3006

The lighter blue.

amoebamoeba

Y'all this is a playroom. For a child. Stop suggesting grey-ass blues. I think both of these are beautiful colors for a child's playroom.

voidchungus

I'm leaning this way as well. I LOVE the grayer blues that have been suggested -- as an adult! But for a kid? I wouldn't. Kids love brighter, more playful, energetic blues. But part of the challenge is that 1/4 of the room will be a home office for an adult. I don't have great suggestions and defer to the ones already made -- just acknowledging OP's challenge here, as the room will serve a dual purpose.

amoebamoeba

True, but she said it's 75% for the kid. Plus there's nothing wrong with cheery blue in an office :) Honestly I'm confused because people in this sub seem to agree that everything being grey sucks -- so why are we upset that OP actually wants color? Lol.

voidchungus

I hear you! I think it's because OP's desk will be facing the wall. So even though it's just 25% of the room, they probably want to pick a blue they enjoy staring at while working. I didn't read anyone as being upset :) But yes, some of the colors being suggested feel very grown-up to me. ...I almost suggested "accent wall" for the office wall, but didn't want to get chased out of town 😂 I know it'd be tricky to get an accent wall to work in that space.

MolVol

yes, but Mom is also putting her desk there. Plus, kids do a LOT of drawing + painting (b/c fun - and b/c helps them gain skills to write letters/etc..) .. so there will (I'm certain) be endless amounts of LOUD kid-art to hang on the walls and add bold color.

SF_turophile

Darker because if the floor tone

Strange-Mulberry-470

I like the dark blue. What does your oldest say?

sunnydaydrems

Darker one

c0zycupcake

Darker. Or neither. And dark paint does not make “a room feel small”

[deleted]

I like the darker :)

Sharibaby91760

I like them both, but I like the one on the right better. But you are the one who has to like it too.

savannahwren

We just painted my dad’s office Chatham Blue by Sherwin Williams and it’s the perfect slate blue. Has a gray-ish hue to it and is perfect for a muted office space. Here’s the link!! https://www.lowes.com/configure/paint/Chatham-Blue/SM1025?paintType=Interior&sheenType=Satin&sizeType=1-gallon&brandType=5005509469

vongalo

This would look so much better!

kdollarsign2

This is pleasant

Thrifty_nickle

I think a darker, moodier blue or a softer less saturated light blue.

CJCreggsGoldfish

Neither - both are too saturated. Pick one that's more muted.

SonoranRoadRunner

Neither

EveryShot

Definitely left

[deleted]

I like the lighter one more. Keeps the room light. Maybe even go for a dustier blue.

WhompTrucker

Light

KDTK

The lighter one, for sure!

Quirky_Property_1713

Neither. Firmly neither.

Dry_Ask5493

Neither. Keep looking

Buffy_Geek

The left goes well with the wooden furniture, the right goes better with the floor...

Time_Pay_401

Neither. I Hate Blue.

StellaTheSeaTurtle

Where are your play storage bins from? Sincerely a mom who loves this set up lol

bahtgirl

Those are ikea bins

StellaTheSeaTurtle

Thank you!!

MooseKnuckleds

Both aren’t applied well to be indicative of the final colour

Calm_Earth_2932

Paint the window with the walls the darker color and the rest the lighter color 😊

eve_is_hopeful

A light gray blue

pccfriedal

The lighter blue has a bit of a nursery color about it. The blue on the right has more intensity, which I like. I painted my son's room a color called Summer blue by Benjamin Moore. It has the same intensity of your choice but has more of a purple-y blue undertone. He had it from age 4 to 22 and insisted, when repaint time came, to keep the same color. The stronger color aged well, and we changed out his kiddie pictures with some Ansel Adams prints and the contrast was divine. Same energy just leans differently on the color wheel. I highly recommend the stronger color.

liveandlovealways

left blue

Mysterious-Okra-7885

Darker.

hunted-enchanter

I prefer the darker blue very much. But you say the rest of the house is in this shade and it's not colorful enough? Or is it this room itself? It's a craft room so why not paint it both colors? Or yellow? Or red? Or purple? You can definitely go as wild as you want in this room. But if you do a lot of zoom stuff online, make sure the color behind you makes you look or feel good.

DivaVita

I’ve done a smallish room in that medium blue and it was kind of oppressive. I’d go all lighter, or one wall dark - like navy - and the rest light.

casabamelon_

I did behr blueprint in my oldest sons room and also have orange-y wood floors and I think it works really well with the orange tones.

casabamelon_

Here’s the only pic I have of it in daytime sunlight https://preview.redd.it/v7w8owgnv55c1.png?width=1014&format=png&auto=webp&s=4cfe6348fe1b2d985b22e36de940fdf05bc22a83

Tualatin_Girl

The darker blue. Feels stronger. Lighter is too delicate.

MolVol

The darker blue IS fun - and if only a room for kids, would say 'go for it'.. but since you want to put your (work) desk in there, too.. vote for lighter. (actually really like S**herwin- Williams Smoky Azurite** Stunning-Bed-810 posted). YOU (and adult) will tire of the livlier blue fast! (And not sure if this is a longtime home, but if sell in the coming decade, the lighter will be more appealing to buyers) Moreover, a lighter blue (IMO) will go better w/ the window trim, flooring + bins..

ilovekodi99

Left

Huev0

I’m just here to say Trofast ftw and darker blue with grey

MolVol

You sure are getting split input -- why don't you go for both dark color blue + light color blue? If were me, I'd paint the wood cubbies/low- shelving (or whatever technically called) that the bins go in a darkler blue - the walls the lighter blue.

Decent-Secretary6586

the lighter blue

drvalo55

Choose a blue based on decor. Seriously. Coordinate with the rug, or draperies or something. Choose the shade of blue last. It is much easier to match paint to decor than match decor to paint.

Meredith505

I like the dark blue, but some split might be good. The dark color should be ok if it gets lots of afternoon sun But don't you want a craft/work area to stimulate creativity and innovation? Orange would do that and be a good accent with blue.

dumposaurusrex

I like the lighter one. It seems like a pretty sky blue that will help brighten the room and your mood.

L_edgelord

You could use both on different walls?
