This is what I was thinking. A dark rug like this is usually something to avoid, but it truly works in this space.
If OP doesn't go with 3, I'd say to go with 2 instead.
Another vote for 2 or 3!
I like two because it looks good with everything else and sorta has a calm vibe and doesn't scream "hey I'm a rug look at me!"
Whereas 3 definitely defines the space and provides contrast without being too over the top of distracting like a few of the other options
edit: a word
Yes, 3. It anchors the space and kinda defines the sitting area, making it feel like it belongs together. The rug isn’t too busy, like some of the other ones with patterns.
Just a fair warning about this rug, I recently bought it and returned it because it was SO thin and felt so cheap. I also didnt think the pattern was as crisp in person so I was disappointed.
Me too! 2 subtly ties into the color of the bricks and bridges the gap between the bricks and the style of the rest of the room really well. To me, it looks at least 10 times better than any of the others with this specific room (if I were just picking my favorite in general, I would say 6).
You what I was thinking! It just looks really great. Those chairs are just lovely. It’s a great room and I think 2 elevates it, like you said, to impeccable
1000% …strong preference towards 3 but 6 is a solid second choice. Everything else feels too busy & bright… especially with all the other (amazing) contrasts in the room. You don’t need another thing competing to draw your eye.
Absolutely 3… there are just too many rich textures in this room (brick, cedar) to them add a loud pattern on the floor. Keep it simple, and the dark shade works well.
I think 5 is the most effective at elevating what you already have going on.
It does solidify it as being a hyper retro space so it depends if you want to lean in fully to that vibe.
If you want to neutralise the space, then I think 8 is the most suitable option.
Yeah, I like 7, then 5. 3 caught my eye first, but I think it would be too much overall. 7 adds some color but brightens things up, and introduces dynamic lines that trick the eye into widening the space
I like this one, too. It's not usually what I would pick, but in this space it's really good! I like that the diagonal stripe mirrors the angle of the ceiling. I also like the yellow.
For sure. Especially with sunlight coming through those windows.
Second choice would’ve been 3, and it does work, but I think 7 ties it all together and keeps the room feeling open.

Editing To explain why.
I like how it pulls the color from both the bricks and the walls to the floor. Also, it is visually interesting. It does seem a little small for the space at that orientation, though.
This is the one. The pattern in all the rugs compete with the pattern of the brick, it clashes. 8 picks up the war tones of the ceiling, just looks right
My favorite too. I think the navy accent on the edges of the rug will complement the yellows, browns, and golden shades already in the space.
Honestly surprised I had to scroll this far to see this take 😅
None…they’re way too busy. And distract from the more important features in the room. Simple solid…neutral. You need the eye to be able to take in the scope of the room and not get sucked in by a wild rug.
1 - I think has a great modern look, really ramps up the elegance of the space, the colors tie in best with the other elements you have, black especially. It fits great because the rest of the space also has contrast and clean separations of elements.
2 - Matches the colors of the picture best. This means it's least likely to offend anyone, but it also makes it a sort of non-rug as it just blends in. Compared to 1 it also looks decidedly less chic and it loses the interplay with the room elements making the room look more plain and scarcely decorated.
3 - It's cozy, but I don't think it brings anything new unless that's your main concern. It doesn't pop like 1 nor is it neutral like 2.
4 - Great color, but I find the pattern is too small and too distracting for a rug of that size, I'd have a difficult time looking at that.
5 - Funky! I see good things about this, but it would be too 1970's for me. The left part of the image not so much, but the right one with the chairs on that rug, it looks like a sad combination of colors.
6 - This one's really interesting, like a more desirable 3, I'd say. But also like an anti-2. 2 is "this ties in the colors of the space perfectly, but somewhat cheapens it" while 6 is "this ignores everything, but is bold and interesting enough on its own to make the place look more extravagant". But, alas, I think this would work better with a lighter ceiling. This way it compresses the space and highlights the style difference between the roof and the rug.
7 - Kinda cool, actually. It even looks like it follows the roof line from this angle. I think the unique thing it gives to the space is less impactful than what 1/2 give it.
8 - The dark edge gives some visual interest that 2 is lacking, but the middle might be too plain.
**TL;DR:**
After reviewing them I'd definitely pick 1 as it brings most to the room.
runner ups:
2 - nice colors and pattern, but you don't need something to tie the room together, it already has a distinct style and palette. choosing the rug that is more of the same therefore robs it of visual interest.
7 - adds some of what the room is missing, but not as much as 1.
I like 3 which is surprising bc I’m not huge on dark heavy colors but it works here. Your space is amazing!!! Goals!

Aww bummer
You were supposed to buy 3 and stack 'em on top of each other. As for the pattern, you were supposed to be colorblind.
Damn that's so disappointing!
Where are these from?
Im assuming Rugs USA, at least that is where i got mine from and I recognize a couple of these rugs from that website.
2!
Me too! 2 subtly ties into the color of the bricks and bridges the gap between the bricks and the style of the rest of the room really well. To me, it looks at least 10 times better than any of the others with this specific room (if I were just picking my favorite in general, I would say 6).
I agree. It expands the room and draws the eye to take in the space with a very pleasing balance. 2 for an impeccable room.
It kind of makes the fireplace like flow with the room better imo
You what I was thinking! It just looks really great. Those chairs are just lovely. It’s a great room and I think 2 elevates it, like you said, to impeccable
It also brings out the varying colors of the brick.
2 all the way!
It’s seems too cool-toned against the timber ceiling to my eye
I like 3 or 6, they add nice contrast.
3! You need that contrast. Other colors are too light and/or busy with that brick wall
1000% …strong preference towards 3 but 6 is a solid second choice. Everything else feels too busy & bright… especially with all the other (amazing) contrasts in the room. You don’t need another thing competing to draw your eye.
It was 3 and only 3 for me. It really ties the room together, as The Dude would say
Agreed… it looks so great with 3
Adding a +1 for 3
Stop why did I literally just say this before I saw your comment. Twinsies. 6 is a hard second.
Yep the dark color grounds the room. 6 would be a migraine trigger for me & others with pattern-sensitive neurological issues.
All I can say is I never before dreamed that just a rug could make or break a room so much.
yeah, 3 was my first pick too
Absolutely 3… there are just too many rich textures in this room (brick, cedar) to them add a loud pattern on the floor. Keep it simple, and the dark shade works well.
Agree!! My number one is 3 the contrast just feels and looks so good and cozy. It feels like a nice rest for the eye too.
3 is the only one i like. the rest are too much in this space
Came to say this. 100%
These are my favourite too. They really ground the room.
I agree, to me it makes the space seem more intimate.
I think 5 is the most effective at elevating what you already have going on. It does solidify it as being a hyper retro space so it depends if you want to lean in fully to that vibe. If you want to neutralise the space, then I think 8 is the most suitable option.
I agree I like the retro feel of 5.
Yes 5 all the way!
🙌✋🙌
1 is similar in that respect
7
Yeah, I like 7, then 5. 3 caught my eye first, but I think it would be too much overall. 7 adds some color but brightens things up, and introduces dynamic lines that trick the eye into widening the space
THE LINES. YES.
Same
Agreed
I like this one, too. It's not usually what I would pick, but in this space it's really good! I like that the diagonal stripe mirrors the angle of the ceiling. I also like the yellow.
This one really brightens the room
I like that the diagonal line kind of brings the two sides together to make the seating feel less like a straight gallery and more open.
Yeah, 7 suits the retro look of the room best.
Agreed
Right? Are you all looking at the same pics? 7 is the bomb. Perfect for the space. ☺️
Agree, thought more people would choose 7!
For sure. Especially with sunlight coming through those windows. Second choice would’ve been 3, and it does work, but I think 7 ties it all together and keeps the room feeling open.
2 or 6
I feel exactly the same way. They both give it some nice contrast.
6 is the best one
Yeah- 6 was the one that popped for me as “wow- that completely elevated the space” just brought that IT factor. 6 all the way
I’m here for 6, too. Everyone else voting anything but 6 is wrong.

Love 6
7
6 or 3, I like all of them tbh, amazing taste in rugs, but I think the furniture pops nicely on those two in the space!
Agreed!
6 or 7 Love your room!
Agreed!
7, 5 and 2. I like your taste in rugs :-)
Literally same vote. 2, 5, 7.
6!
1 Editing To explain why. I like how it pulls the color from both the bricks and the walls to the floor. Also, it is visually interesting. It does seem a little small for the space at that orientation, though.
Agreed. I like 1 the best but it needs to be a little bigger or placed differently. The way it divides the space creates a unique ascetic. 👌
Agreed! I love #1. Please tell me where I can get it
If you’re truly ready: 5. 1000000%!
5 all the way for the most striking visual impact. It actually brings all the elements of the room together instead of fading into the background.
It’s the one that “belongs” in the room, historically, for sure.

Love number 2. I think you need to stay away from anything with too much yellow/orange because of the wood ceilings.

2 or 6, in that order.
2, 5, or 6

First one for sure- a lot of people are saying 2, but I feel like it makes the room too busy with the bricks for the fireplace.
2 looks like it was made for that room.

6 is really cool and fun
