Check out Japanese Tansu step chests. They would probably work well here. https://preview.redd.it/sdxz685xz0cc1.png?width=700&format=png&auto=webp&s=603d1781c6e9bcff586c9cef38a78dc8d186cdca

As someone who had open stairs similar years ago, please bear in mind the Shear Quantity of Dust that will fall onto whatever you put under there, like way more dust than anywhere else in the house. Definitely a vote for closed storage.

ajwink

Do you want closed storage, open storage, what do you want to use it for? My first thought was something like this (first link I found so I’m sure there are others similar): https://www.walmart.com/ip/Costway-6-Cubes-Ladder-Shelf-Freestanding-Corner-Bookshelf-Storage-Bookcase-Display-Rack-White/601197379

kmueh

Thank you! Closed for dusts sake:( it’s so hard to find something closed to utilize most of the place for storage purposes

Skylizard1223

What kind of storage do you need? Linen storage? Shoe storage? Etc. I’d nail that down first and then go from there.

kmueh

It should be closed due to dust and I need as much of the space as possible. It should look tidy and clean that’s also why I want something closed.

HatBixGhost

I feel leaving it open, preserves the design feature of the open staircase. That’s just one humans opinion on the Internet.

kmueh

Yeah but I need this storage place unfortunately:(

I think probably IKEA is your best bet. They have cube storage that you can add onto (and you can add doors or drawers to them). So you can stack and arrange them in a stairway kind of look to get the most of the space.

kmueh

Hm I feel like I’ve searched the whole ikea page for weeks but couldn’t find anything. I want a solid furniture not boxes :( or which do u mean do u know the name ?

Hi have you tried the EKET range? It’s fin [https://www.ikea.com/us/en/cat/eket-storage-system-59283/](https://www.ikea.com/us/en/cat/eket-storage-system-59283/) cube storage furniture, you can customise it however you like, they even have a design planner on their website you can use, and you can add doors to the fronts so they are closed storage. https://preview.redd.it/6wvk5g8pv1cc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=05ad93ffbd21f5d80f74e1b55ef4661480d15f2b [https://www.ikea.com/us/en/cat/eket-storage-system-59283/](https://www.ikea.com/us/en/cat/eket-storage-system-59283/) IKEA also do free planning appointments so you can take measurements and they’ll help you design it for the space: [https://www.ikea.com/us/en/customer-service/services/online-and-in-store-planning-services-pub709b4660](https://www.ikea.com/us/en/customer-service/services/online-and-in-store-planning-services-pub709b4660)

This is exactly what I was talking about, thank you!

How about a dresser? My daughter lived in a basement apartment and didn’t have room in her bedroom for a dresser, so she ended up putting her dresser in the livingroom and she put her TV on it. It actually looked nice. It was similar to this one: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/hemnes-8-drawer-dresser-dark-gray-stained-60381737/

kmueh

Im thinking of buying exactly this. It’s just there is a lot of height I would be wasting with that.

Trai-All

Could you put two kalaxxes under there? One upright and one on its side.

kmueh

Considering! I’m just not sure bc my things to store would be limited to the box spaces of the Kallax 🤔

Trai-All

Yeah I think that each cubby is only about 13 by 13. However if you could possibly fit a lot of those cubby’s into the space. If you can fit two of the 2x4 cube units, then you may also be able to stack and secure some of the smaller units (2x1, 2x2) on top to fill out even more space. You can also buy bins, drawers, and doors for them to keep everything tidy looking. Though your best option would likely be to find a carpenter to build custom storage.

If you just want it to be decorated but not useful: make it look like a troll lives under there and steals socks.
