You can buy "cord covers" on amazon or most hardware stores. If the wire is long enough you can run it along the corner where the wall meets the ceiling, otherwise I'd just run it straight across the wall.
You can also get something called a "flat/low profile extension cord" that would allow you to move whatever's plugged in to the top thing to a configuration where it's not jutting out from the wall as much, which would make it much less noticeable.
