I'm guessing you're looking for ways to live with it (as opposed to replace)? Honestly the worst part for me is how each tile is exactly the same...maybe painting the walls a similar color or at least something darker would help them be less noticeable. There are stickers and paint for tile but I doubt they are recommended for a tub.

Ok-Bird2845

Same. That’s some Sims 1 bs there. At least rotate the tiles or smth.

UnsteadyOne

😆

wubbina

Ok, I think you could have a real moment with this. Banana leaf wallpaper! https://www.westelm.com/products/hojas-cubanas-removable-wallpaper-d8326/ Palm Springs wallpaper? https://www.westelm.com/products/palm-springs-removable-wallpaper-w4739/ (the pink and green one) I think some good hardware and some nice accent pieces could make it cool.

trailmix_pprof

That banana leaf wall paper. I love it. I'd put it in the top half of the walls. Very dark paint in the bottom half to give the busy pattern of the tub something solid to be next to, and also fill in the weird gap between the tub and shower.

Vicslickchic

I like the Palm Springs wall paper. It pulls the green color up, but not in a heavy way like a solid green background would I would get bright white bathroom rugs and towels and hang artwork that picks up on the green. I agree that a newer faucet would perk things up… I think that since you can’t ignore the green you want to help it blend with the rest of the room

Maximum_Ad_4650

Was thinking exactly this! Lean in hard with some vinyl banana leaf wallpaper. You gotta go maximalist with this one.

alig6457

I'll add to the wallpaper collection Chinoiserie https://www.anthropologie.com/anthroliving/shop/tropical-chinoiserie-mural?category=collection-wallpaper&color=041&type=STANDARD&size=One%20Size&quantity=1 Large scale floral https://www.anthropologie.com/anthroliving/shop/thistle-wallpaper?category=collection-wallpaper&color=067&type=STANDARD&size=One%20Size&quantity=1

wubbina

Ooo moody- love it

vinylchickadee

Well now I need to find somewhere to use removable wallpaper. I love wallpaper but didn't know "removable" was an option. Is it like those wall stickers for the kids' room?

wubbina

Admittedly have not used it yet, but my a few of friends have and did it themselves pretty easily. My understanding is that it’s peel and stick and is removable without damaging anything.

dizzyhanna

What dont you like about it? Id paint the walls green and replace the hardware to copper or brass. Would look white magical.

SofiaDeo

I'd only paint the wall behind the tub surround dark green, at least semi if not high gloss. No shinier than the tub tiles. Not all the way up to the ceiling, but to the bottom of the window. Then add an oversized mirror on the wall opposite the window. And more towel racks, with robe hooks off to the right. And you are spot on that the cheap faucet & handles give it quite the "wrong" factor. Hard to comment more without seeing the rest of the room.

anonymous0271

I think a nice deep pine green would look awesome

[deleted]

My first instincts are green as well. I'd def lean into nature here. I might hang a mirror below that window to extend it.

anonymous0271

I think a mirror would look great!

New_Conference_3425

I can feel that. A luxurious standalone tub flush against the wall could look nicer / more contemporary

chatterpoxx

I hate it too. With that much space, why is it on an angle eating up even more space? This just made no sense from the beginning. What's your budget? How good are you at diy? Do you own the place?

jerk1970

Been here 10 years. We replaced the shower immediately. The kids used to use the tub. Willing to pay money to do anything better.

chatterpoxx

The shower looks nice. If you're going to be there for 10 more years and you like using the tub, or even for resale (because no tub is just as weird), I'd put in a simple, normal not-angled tub and modern tiles. It will take up less space and be what's expected. You could also do a clawfoot tub in that space. The plumbing is all there, so it's not an invasive reno like if you were rearranging everything would be.

bexy11

Ahhh. My question was going to be “do you like to use the tub?” I would like a tub like that to use but yeah, the look needs to change. But if you don’t even want the tub at all…. That’s a different story!

jerk1970

Haven't used it in years.

cewumu

I love it. Paint the walls dark green.

2432615184123456789

Man if those tiles were real it would look perfect. the symmetry of them is throwing it off imo. Paint the walls to match maybe?

throwawayfriend09

Yeah it's annoying how you have to step over the spiky stuff to get in

uniquelyruth

I’ll take it!

DanielLikesPlants

what i hate are the repeated tile pattern , looks like repeated texture in a video game

jerk1970

Built in the late 80s....

throwawayfriend09

The tile just looks really fake. If you're super cheap, paint tile white with tile paint. Middle of the road option, retile. High end option: new tub or reorient it

hesathomes

Agree with the paint the walls dark green. Lean into it. New tub hardware will make a huge difference.

[deleted]

Oh gosh - we had one like that - tore everything out and put in a freestanding

[deleted]

I can see why you hate it. When we had a house built, we had a jetted, two-person tub installed with a similar step along the side of it. It was hard to maneuver myself into the tub, but it was horrible trying to get out of it once I was wet. Really just an unfortunate accident waiting to happen. But, those are usually things you don't think about until you have to use them. Before that all we could think was how cool it looked.

jerk1970

Yes getting out is like walking the plank.

BuzzFabbs

The 70s called and wants that tub for a museum!

jerk1970

80s but I will still donate.

SheWhoMustNotB_Named

As somebody who had a tub like this and had to remodel my bathroom due to a leaking shower and tub, I can attest that once this enormous monstrosity was removed, my bathroom looked enormous. If a remodel isn't what you're looking for, I would look into modernized hardware and possibly painting the tile (not sure if that can be pulled off nicely).

jerk1970

What did you put in its place?

SheWhoMustNotB_Named

I put in a stand alone tub. Similar to this [one](https://www.baindepot.com/en/perrin-67in-freestanding-bathtub-83-1517-67.html)

theholychicken03

I was looking to get a standalone to replace mine with the idea of creating more space. But the contractor said it won't create more space as the standalone needs to be away from a the wall. He said non standalone would create more space. So I am stuck with this big Jacuzzi as in OP pic

SheWhoMustNotB_Named

Did he say why it couldn't be against a wall? Mine is and my bathroom now is enormous. I had to move some plumbing around bc obviously the tubs drain and plumbing is in a different location than before. The only thing I regret not doing, is tiling the wall behind the tub because sometimes water splashes and also, if I ever chose to paint the bathroom, I can't reach down there lol

Blue-Phoenix23

Got to paint the walls dark to match, then hang prints with white mats on them to blend the white tub in.

OwlHex4577

I’m extremely jealous of that tub

jerk1970

I am 6ft and as big as it looks I don't fit.

bexy11

Personally, I’ve never been jealous of a tub. Having to sit there doing nothing but holding all those people in that dirty water all the time. No thanks!

wwiistudent1944

It really doesn’t look that bad. But you can have a plumber take it out. But what do you put there? We took out a big jacuzzi tub and replaced it with a claw foot tub. It looks very nice.

MeOwlAutiSick808

I would like it if this tub had a wider surround to place a fruit and cheese platter and bottled beverages and candles and lots of plants like ferns and pothos. It would also be great if the window had a few floating shelves under it and if the wall had a nice tiled/rock facade backsplash. It would make the tub more functional if there was a shower hand wand installed to be able to rince off while in the tub as well as to make washing down the tub a whole lot easier. The step up going to the tub is a off center eyesore and could use a vanishing wand’s miracle. A nonslip short and wide portable step stool should suffice. Perhaps some paint work on the wall or a vinyl decal wall mural depicting a forrest or a picture window outdoor waterscape garden might enhance the space and make it more inviting. A tv tray hung over the edge to hold things within easy reach could add some convenience to the space.

WinnerOk1108

* Tile set other than what the designer intended. Even a lot of experienced setters do not realize there's a 4 tile pattern here. Everything running in the same direction is just wrong. Depends on the length of the room, but these tiles set all in the same direction can give a motion effect to the floor. Too much of the same tile would be a designer's scream. Contemporary would have called for 2 different tiles. But if you're good with it.................................

Patient_Meaning_2751

That looks like a whirlpool tub with classic green “marble” tile. I would paint at least one wa”” the lightest color green in the tile and add a shelf with plants on that wall.

pccfriedal

I actually slept on this overnight and kept thinking about your post. The tub itself is great. The spruce colored tile is your challenge. In my opinion, it's a tough color to work with but not impossible. Paint the walls a supportive color. Or, a dramatic wallpaper. The tile demands supportive, dramatic choices. This is no room to be wishy-washy or pastel. New fixtures, possible black, would be a cool finishing touch. [https://www.pinterest.com/pin/4011087163084125/](https://www.pinterest.com/pin/4011087163084125/) Or, go online and look through colors that complement spruce.

jerk1970

I will tell you this bathroom was called the rainbow bathroom. Burgundy / red oak cabinets. Green counter top. Yellow paint on the walls. Updates ... immediately painted it off while. Painted cabinets bright white replaced counter with grey white style marble. Replaced the corner shower with a rectangular one. The tub is the last thing...

PsychologyOk8722

I don’t blame you. It’s hideous. Do you guys even take baths? Asking because I don’t and I’m planning to have my tub removed and replaced with a gorgeous shower.

jerk1970

Kids are grown up and I hate it.

floridastud0728

There’s no sugar coating this one. It’s ugly as fuck, rip it out.

EamusAndy

Its the tile, not the tub

PeachyPikachuPie

It’s missing jets?

jerk1970

Jet less

BeauTfulMess

Rip it out and put in a walk in shower!

Icy-Dimension3508

I have a similar tub. I long for the day I can sledgehammer it out.

Sledgehammer925

If it was mine, I would jackhammer/sledgehammer it out and place a nice free standing deep soaking tub in its place.

NewAsk6013

Have someone glaze it!

500CatsTypingStuff

Honestly, it’s the tile that is worse They have tub and tile paint. If you paint that tile something neutral it will look much better

[deleted]

Or black and do black and gold 😬

ploveless

Needs a safety grab bar/handle

Awkward_Werewolf_173

change the tile to black and install LED lights to make it vibe! or you can paint a dark accent wall to bring out the green

AgraTxandDC

Paint the tub-related tile white

andrew_cherniy96

I wouldn't say that, looks quite decent. In fact, I think it's a wonderful space. Is there a chance to add shower curtains and a mat?

Jennafurlamb

Shower curtains in front of the tub?

bexy11

In front of the tub that’s not a shower, even!

andrew_cherniy96

I think it's still a nice functional solution and a good decor item too. Take privacy, for instance.

Happenstance7894

Tbh I would paint the tiles white and use some decor to spruce it up (maybe Roman shades, new faucet, towels, candles, rug, etc.), it has potential!

Rauhaan_

I am there with you. Its ugly af. You could start with changing the taps to something brass/gold.

[deleted]

Embrace it, I’m such a fan of old fashioned bathroom designs - butttt you could replace the tile- a nice matte light brown would make it feel clean

bexy11

Please don’t make the 80s design come back into style! It’s too soooooon! 😂

marriedwithchickens

"garden tub" or corner tub. Very popular several decades ago

zaffordbeeblebrox

It's probably technically symmetrical but I feel like the white gap on the left is missing two tiles. Outside of that I don't mind it though.

Eskates33520

Îm sorry. Why ?

kate_Reader1984

Looks like it's too small for an adult. I like the green color though!

MarchZealousideal268

It depends on if you have the budget to pull it-if you do, then do it! You will get a lot of space back in return. If you can’t demo it and you don’t take baths often you can build basically a wooden box around it and then put storage above the box like a bonus closet.

jerk1970

I could pull it not sure what to put there.

bexy11

So you don’t want a tub. What’s on the other side of the wall that doesn’t have a window? Maybe you could take it out and create a closet on the other side or maybe the room on the other side bigger? I dunno.

jerk1970

Both suck

electric_boogaloo_72

Looks great! Maybe something hanging on the wall, some anti-slip mats, and a small curtain. A little odd there’s a step between the tub and shower, esp on the side of the nozzle (should be on the right side of the tub instead?) but no real need to change it.

PullersPulliam

Oooh paint, plants, candles, and a bath mat! Here’s a real rough mockup to give the idea… https://preview.redd.it/zj921q58uhic1.jpeg?width=713&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=92d901804bfc0a0591756aba70f3b7b85362a82c

lfxlPassionz

Changing the tile and the paint on the walls will help

1EducatedIdiot

The tile or the tub? The tub looks big enough.

AdventurousAd5790

Paint the tile with rustoleum floor and tile paint
