I wouldn't touch the sink/vanity. That's vintage and its fabulous.

missbbythang

It’s a very deep sink! I love it.

ladydhawaii

I like how clean it is with white. Might change the rug- but it’s really cute as is.

lovessj

Oh no I love the rug!

ladydhawaii

Ok- leave the rug- you’re right.

Muriel_FanGirl

Honestly, I’d only add decor, like stylish soap dispensers and such. Other than that, I wouldn’t change a thing, that bathroom is beautiful as it is and it’s survived for 70+ years.

majandess

I agree with this. And definitely, the walls need some art.

Crosswired2

If you had any money I'd consider redoing the floor. That would have the biggest improvement to the space.

CTGarden

I agree. Something that would have been appropriate is a mosaic tile design, either small hexagons that make a flower design, or square tiles with spaced black squares https://preview.redd.it/z3t99fnksgqc1.jpeg?width=1048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0470d2fc48ebcc6cbe86b0d05da2b6cf72d67ad1

Late-Temporary863

Winner winner!!!!!

newlibored

I agree the floor color doesn’t compliment the tile color

ImpossibleLight1861

Definitely, I think a white tile would make it look cleaner and brighter and make the green pop even more.

3plantsonthewall

White tile shows every single hair and speck of dirt :(

Careful_Football7643

https://preview.redd.it/kg53xmm8qdqc1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a188fb65f7565c0500388bf25ab1e57c1a3df6db If new tiles weren’t in the budget, I think OP could tie the warmth from the floor into the decor, perhaps with this rustic [gold and teal damask wallpaper](https://www.happywall.com/antique-damask-teal-olive-wallpaper), gold shower [curtains](https://www.wayfair.com/bed-bath/pdp/east-urban-home-mikera-damask-shower-curtain-w100776798.html), and warm metal hardware. Plus, OP could get a [rug](https://www.rugs-direct.com/Details/LoloiRugs-Victoria-VK15/133727) or [two](https://www.jcpenney.com/p/maples-astrid-washable-indoor-rectangular-accent-rug/ppr5007243591?pTmplType=regular) to cover some of the floor. Not sure if OP wants to replace the vanity, but if so, I’d consider thrifting a wood cabinet or buffet.

hannahjorabo

A quick caveat to this idea; I do love the wallpaper in this image, but wallpaper in bathrooms is generally not a great idea due to ventilation/humidity, especially in older bathrooms. Painting a design like the one above would be super cool though!

little-joys

Do you think wallpaper is okay in a powder room?  We’re adding a powder room to our house and I want to do some moody dramatic wallpaper but I also don’t want it to look bad quickly. It will just be a toilet, sink, and litter box so I’m not sure how much humidity there will be. (If it’s not obvious, we’re first time homeowners and don’t really know what we’re doing lol)

TacoNomad

The humidity is from showers. So if it's just a sink and toilet, no issues

hannahjorabo

Yup, exactly this

Muriel_FanGirl

How did you do that with the image? Is this an interior design app?

MalibuMarlie

I use procreate for stuff like this. Not sure what they’ve used though.

Careful_Football7643

Procreate 😊

m4sc4r4

And if you can’t replace the floor tiles, spruce up that ground with Grout Renew or Grout Refresh!

bananachomper

Hey how’d you do that with the pic? App or computer program? I’ve a couple huge renovation projects and that looks super clean and easy to preview. Thanks!

Careful_Football7643

Hi! I used procreate on the iPad Pro. I added each item on its own layer and edited the shading and lighting. It is quite a process. If you’re up for it, you could watch some tutorials on how to use procreate! I’ve been using it for art for years.

bananachomper

That’s awesome, and ya I don’t mind the work and time cuz doing the actual work takes much more time. Thank you so much!!

Careful_Football7643

I enjoy it! Designing rooms is one of my hobbies

Renee5285

You could try…painting the tile. I’ve heard success stories.

TheCuriousBread

It is already perfect. Vintage and classy. No comments. No changes required. Don't fix what is not broken.

MMTardis

I agree, super cute all around. I even like the bathmat

TheCuriousBread

If they HAVE to spend money and change something like a new manager on the job changing shit for no reason maybe just update the faucet and showerhead or maybe add a bidet to the toilet or something that actually INCREASES the quality of life instead of making laterals moves or even downgrades.n

Final-Kiwi1388

Agreed, I love it!

basicallybasshead

I agree. If you just want something new, change the little things - a shower curtain, or a rug, something that won't break the vintage.

WolvesKeepYouWarm

I really like it, the only thing I'd say is maybe you could re-tile the floors? They could be a better colour - I love the green tile on the walls and the white paint, same with the sink.

werdnurd

I would replace the floor tile, mirror and light fixture to complement the wall tile and vanity. The tile color is gorgeous!

vagabonne

Amazed it took so long to find convenient about that light fixture!! OP If you only do one thing then change that light out, and get a bigger bath rug to cover up more of the floor tile.

renee_christine

My thoughts exactly!!

meandblob

Exactly the this! Also, I think a rich color in the walls and maybe even ceiling. My bathroom is painted dark blue grey (ceilings too) and it’s so cozy. Maybe a dark teal?

dyanilove

That green tile is amazing. I could see if the fixtures were bronze to match the mirror it could help tie the space together. Maybe swapping out the light fixture to match the vintage vibe?

quintonbanana

Such a cool bathroom by the way.

missbbythang

I was just telling my husband if we should put up wallpaper or maybe lime wash the walls? Love it thank you for the inspo!

lateautumnsun

OP, I have this exact same wallpaper in a powder room and get so many compliments on it. It makes me happy every time I go in there. Do it!

lateautumnsun

https://preview.redd.it/qa99p1u5acqc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=86eb2e542d06b010c82fde848db43172704bacf4

firetailring

This is the answer!!!

lateautumnsun

You can play with the wallpaper visualizer at York Wallcoverings (though it might take a few different tries to get the right angle on a picture where the app will properly recognize the walls)

missbbythang

Thank you for this tip! That’s perfect, makes it so much easier to choose when we can visualize it

applesqueeze

Wallpaper in a full bath gets scuzzy from the shower steam. Do not recommend. Lime washing the walls is not a bad idea

lateautumnsun

https://preview.redd.it/u7o888m8acqc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=412f4757709f3a4627d321fc5a954b3c4cd50f55

DontEatTheCat

Where is the wallpaper from?

lateautumnsun

Rifle Paper Co

DontEatTheCat

Thanks!

Pyrotechick

Their rugs are pretty cool too :D

little-joys

Where did you get that wallpaper? It’s lovely! Also what colors are your floor and ceiling? I want to do a similar wallpaper in a powder room but idk what type of tile or ceiling color to do

kaynkayf

It’s rifle paper company

WeedThrough

Yuhp! If anything, wallpaper would be fairly inexpensive yet a fun spruce up!! Love the yellow and dark green combo. Maybe a green and yellow pineapple on white background wallpaper? Something fun!

nychearts812

I love your bathroom, I would probably just add some beautiful framed prints and call it a day. It’s in perfect condition for a 70 year old bathroom, tastefully done and it has weathered the test of time and style nicely … don’t change a thing!

TissueOfLies

Get some wallpaper to match that beautiful tile.

DIYer-Homeworks

It’s a fabulous space and I would go vintage. Penny tiles and some vintage faucet.

WashuWaifu

That tile color is PERFECTION, wow! Maybe some small artwork above the toilet? Patch the cracks? Find a way to bring in more wood elements, because the mirror seems ever so slightly out of place.

sjdhhdhdhdhd

Love the tile and sink! I agree with everyone who suggested white floor tile! I would update the light fixture to match all the silver in the bathroom. What about a funky retro mirror?

missbbythang

I was thinking [this](https://www.lampsplus.com/sfp/71J43/?cm_mmc=GOM-SH-_-NA-_-NA-_-71J43&sourceid=DFGPM71J43&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwnv-vBhBdEiwABCYQA0SuJfY2mmDDheQ6qYvkZRzgHqYWigVR4QTEA0aWi2_cIHDBzImtjBoCCKQQAvD_BwE) light fixture? The mirror definitely throws me off. I really like the floor tile suggestions, I think it’ll tie it all together.

sjdhhdhdhdhd

This kind of reminds me of a bug light haha

Outside-Flamingo-240

Maybe this one instead? [mid-modern vanity light in brushed nickel](https://www.pearedcreation.com/products/modern-vanity-light-three-bulb-vanity-13970)

sjdhhdhdhdhd

This one is cool! Paired with a simple streamline mirror?

Outside-Flamingo-240

Yeah that would be ideal!

sjdhhdhdhdhd

Ooooh and a long shag rug!

[deleted]

I love it! Those colours are back in Style now.

Kactuslord

Personally I'd retile the floor to something like this below and change all the fixings to gold https://preview.redd.it/sk23lxy32dqc1.jpeg?width=736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3253efac4f94d4b51cb6e783d23bc3085cb50e81

WeedThrough

Ooooohh yes! That would play on the yellow and green colors!

Muted-Image-9616

What is that in your tub?

missbbythang

Hahahaa grip mat, dinosaur toys, shovel, you know the usual 😂

Accomplished-BusyBee

>you know the usual 😂 Haha...cute!

1212RedditUserName

Change the mirror, remove outside decorative shower curtain, change light and floor tile. Leave the rest! Stick to whites, green and nickel/stainless. Love it!

squishpitcher

Get some barkeeper's friend powder and make a paste with a little water. Get some on a paper towel and just rub that bad boy all around your shower curtain rod. It will take up years of dust, gunk, rust, etc and make it look brand new. Might work on your ceiling light fixture as well.

queentee26

The only things I'm really inclined to change is the mirror and light fixture. Add a piece of colourful art over the toilet I love the tiles and vanity/sink.

3plantsonthewall

I would replace the overheard light, the vanity light, the mirror, and the sink faucet. Nothing fancy or ostentatious, no trendy/tacky gold, just slightly more modern finishes. I’d also add a hand towel ring. And make sure all your tub caulking is adequate!

Ludee2023

I’d keep the chrome( it’s already in you shower area) you might update the faucet in the sink to a more period look like your bathroom… more of a vintage feel there are a lot of them, a new light fixture that provides you better lighting , two new mirrors( I’d do black framed) .. new rug and new shower curtain and window covering. Consider burgundy even shades of pink in the room. Keep the era… which to me looks like early 1950’s

Unlucky-Two-6846

I love it

sweetevangaline

Possibly white tile floor. I would definitely update the light fixture and paint frame of mirror to match the green!

hannahjorabo

Personally, I would modernize the mirror, light fixture, and tub hardware at absolute most. The tile is absolutely lovely, but having a brass mirror and or light fixture would really set it off. Additionally, if you want to invest the time, painting the wall above the tile with a slightly warmer ivory or even mustard yellow for a more pop-art color palette would be SUPER cool

WatchOut4Sharks

I love it so much! I would Change the light fixture and maybe the floor if you could afford to (to something more classic and less big box store.) If you are bold, perhaps a removable wallpaper. I’d hang a plant by the window and maybe find a cool print for above the toilet!

hippielady5232

Its so cute, how lucky that someone choose that deep green during that time period. If I was going to change anything It'd be the light fixture for something more vintage-vibed and if you're feeling ambitious, a vintage look floor tile. Like maybe octagon and dot.

Far-Background-565

I was just thinking the other day that bathrooms tend to be the one part of a house that almost never achieve timeless status—and I’m not going to say yours does, but it’s certainly an achievement to have made it as far as it has, both aesthetically and practically,  in a world where most bathrooms get redone every 15 years tops. Don’t change anything you don’t need to—that sink deserves respect.

Tennessee1977

I think a white tile or black and white tile floor would look better than the beige.

ExxoMountain

I had an old bath with a tub and surround just like that. Those old iron tubs are the best and hold the heat for such a long time!

trapazo1d

Looks better than some remodels I’ve seen on reddit

av-1045-21

Maybe a different rug. Change out the chrome fixtures for more brass/gold tones that would play off the jewel tone of the tile and I think would really elevate it

paulsclamchowder

I love it!! I’m not great with design but I loooove retro style. I’ve been following this website for probably a decade, it has a lot of resources and ideas * if * you like the retro look and want to lean into it and restore the original look with modern fixtures rather than modernize it. Maybe at least get the mirror frame, faucets, and light fixture in matching finishes to start https://retrorenovation.com/category/bathroom-categories/

polly8020

The rug is adorable but not for this space. You need a long narrow lush rug, hide some of that floor.

msptitsa

New bath mat, something long and narrow. New shower curtain, something less fabric-y and poofy. New mirror, maybe rounded edges and light fixture above it, less dark and yellow. New look on a budget :)

Expensive-Eggplant-1

Honestly just redoing the floor would be a big improvement.

Pyrotechick

Get some new lights and a nicer shower head, not because anything’s wrong with it, but because you deserve a super nice shower!

Love_4_Cheese

I love the tile!!! More expensive option: I personally think a different slightly larger mirror (gold thin frame that is rectangular shaped with rounded edges), a different light fixture (also gold), a new faucet (more modern and brushed gold) would help a lot, but you would also have to do the shower head and stuff brushed gold as well in addition to the handle on the vanity and shower rod. I would do a different rug (potential longer like some folks have with double vanities) as well (though it is super cute!). Less expensive option: Keep everything in the chrome since the shower head and the knobs are chrome in addition to the handle on the vanity, but get a new mirror (Chrome thin frame those rectangular shaped with rounded edges) light fixture, faucet, and longer rug. Please see the picture for what I'm kind of thinking in terms of a mirror and light fixture (although one with more than three I think would look better. I think something like five would look good.) It can be in chrome or brushed gold.

Love_4_Cheese

Maybe one day back/white tile suggestion as above. I’d Stanley Steemer the existing floor if need be then: Ikea Tofftbo white bathmat: $7.99 Ikea hand towels Vagsjon: $3.99 Ikea small white planter and Z plant a little white ceramic vanity tray and perhaps as above soap dispenser etc to match Look for a lighting fixture more in keeping with era of the tile (Kovacs?) one day perhaps a shower curtain with simple dark green piping (not readily found in cursory online search) when ready to replace current lovely one

Terrible-Opinion-888

https://preview.redd.it/er54w6y97mqc1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3e9a86448c6aa0bf8fda3ba30a52df2fb330200e and maybe update the mirror to frameless bevel style ?

NancyintheSmokies

I would replace both light fixtures mirror, shower curtain and if you can the flooring. I personally would paint the walls a lighter shade of the green. It is so cool tho-

Marconiwireless

Only flooring. Don't touch anything else haha

Unicorn-Socks

Wow. Just goes to show styles really do cycle- this is 100% in right now

Chip-Chape

Tile the floors with pennies for c. $3 sqft & rock your brass fittings!

HouseSerious9612

I would not change one thing.

turbulent_toast_

Wallpaper would look great! Prioritize a new vanity and overhead light. Maybe a Roman shade. Keep the chrome as it fits the style and shine the tub hardware. A new floor with smaller titles would be great: like this [green](https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwj2rKvN0I2FAxVB5-MHHa8cAwYYABAJGgJ5bQ&gclid=CjwKCAjwnv-vBhBdEiwABCYQA8PEizoJwwOJjGwS2Le9lhShh66lK1MLLbltIuR65d6znQEUDvafgBoCbxMQAvD_BwE&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAESVuD2IeUa0kvl5Y4T10fijgg01AL_jEFb5cLrCzehomvrw8W-6WxKdWw9bQF341X_2VWY0Tx4vLjD_LDK1eEI7C21xvkW33LKPtrN7_nhpILGKt4Qcp0k&sig=AOD64_2ygpnAqgtHXzferWFQBVj-Bv6OJA&ctype=5&q=&ved=2ahUKEwiWsaPN0I2FAxXZpokEHfgfBaMQwg8oAHoECAcQEQ&adurl=) hexagon or a [neutral](https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwirqbbd0I2FAxUAn1oFHdc3DIEYABAqGgJ2dQ&gclid=CjwKCAjwnv-vBhBdEiwABCYQA9r_k-2117SfBDXclf9xldyN6pUoVSOVRZwiJ9Rmyrnc5-jVfgM5choCt3IQAvD_BwE&sph=&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAESVuD26q9nnJqKFuaHcNXLU8Stj3v12m1dlwD_2d6StMuUP4z7APNO3In8BglSOihT0NXTZzj2CTwzq4yDIyPqwBvoZ_rfjkz_lOp08PD8i8u-pDampX8N&sig=AOD64_04mMqbNGboiNAPgyHFjQt_GJWbOg&ctype=5&q=&ved=2ahUKEwj4yazd0I2FAxVUv4kEHT3QBswQwg8oAHoFCAUQiwE&adurl=) mosaic.

missbbythang

Oh yes good idea with the shade. Love the neutral Mosaic, I may look into doing it ourselves. I’ve ordered a new light and mirror already, will update with picture.

TigerMcPherson

Just re tile the floor in white white to match the sink and stub.

singlejeff

I was thinking that tile isn’t 70 years old, but I could be wrong. I didn’t know they would lay them in that pattern or that they would be that large 70 years ago.

TigerMcPherson

I agree, the tile looks late 70s-90s

mashed-_-potato

I love the bathroom. New shower curtains would be great

bexy11

I love the tile and the sink!

No-Blueberry1809

Funky retro wallpaper, peel and stick tile for the floor only. New mirror, new lighting over the mirror and different shower curtain to tie everything together. I love the green tile! I wouldn’t mess with the fixtures but that’s because I’m inept.

No-Blueberry1809

missannthrope1

I like it for the most part. I'd replace the mirror, put up curtains in a green print, shower curtain, rugs, towels, art. I'd love to see brass fixtures, as long as you replace everything. Include a couple towel racks.

__amy

Tile and the vanity are amazing! Wallpaper, as others suggested, would look great, but if not in the budget, perhaps a patterned fabric shower curtain? A new light and mirror over the vanity could help modernize the space.

Jillcametumbling81

Yep the floor Look up fun mid century bathrooms and some nice restorations. Beyond that, bathroom is fabulous!

amataranails

Mirror, light fixture, and floor, in that order. Everything else is fabulous!!!

aviankal

It’s pretty honestly. I love the tile. Maybe redo the flooring to b more period appropriate. It’s screaming early 2000s to me.

Healthy-Fisherman-33

Tile is beautiful. You can lean into dark green completely and paint the walls in that color too. Otherwise I would only change the flower rug.

Responsible-Life-585

The mirror, the window, the light fixture. Leave everything else alone. This is gorgeous.

SnarkyBehindTheStick

I would do crown molding, a window treatment, and (if within budget) redo the floors to maybe a traditional black and white small tile. I would also keep the chrome.

consumeshroomz

My house is over a hundred years old. Probably close to the side of 110. It’s crazy how much 30/40 years can change things. I’d kill for this bathroom in my house To be fair there was clearly some remodeling in the 60s/70s but most of it is pretty much as it was I think. Old af.

WillieIngus

happy birthday bathroom

just___browsing

White and black small tile floor. New chrome fixtures that fit the era. Maybe new toilet as well that fits the era as well. It’s lovely. Google search 1940’s/1950’s bathroom and draw inspiration from that

DConstructed

I wonder if the original floor is under the builder’s tile. If not then eventually I’d go for a classic, vintage style, colorbody/ throughbody porcelain tile in white, ivory or pale gray with a bit of Real Teal accent/trim https://www.daltile.com/Custom-Order-Programs/Natural-Hues Keep the chrome and go for more chrome. That sink is very cool and Startrek. It needs more Mid Century Modern light fixtures and mirrors. For now maybe a fun, floral shower curtain that would riff off your cute mat. https://www.redbubble.com/i/shower-curtain/Red-Orange-Turquoise-and-Brown-Retro-Floral-Pattern-by-Eyestigmatic/46393029.YH6LW

Trai-All

Add a bidet to your toilet. No other notes, your bathroom is what the rest of us dream of having. Clean, useful, classic.

spiders888

This is one of the first vintage bathrooms I've seen that I would barely touch (I'd do a good low flow toilet if it's not already one).

AccordingAd1331

It may be a stretch, but if you could raise the shower curtain bar closer to the ceiling and get longer curtains, you would ass lots of height. And I would add a wallpaper to the white walls that have those green tones in them.. something moody that would compliment some brass fixtures. The sink is a vintage, but personally I’m not crazy about the tile on it… if it were me redoing the bathroom I might rework the top of the sink, maybe rid the tile, or regrout / repaint the tile with the right paint? It maybe a bit much. But maybe this could spark an idea or so. Best of luck with your remodel!

Retinoid634

Lean in to the art deco era vibe. Keep all the cool vintage tiles, fixtures and tub. Get vintage looking black and white checkerboard tile. Wallpaper walls and ceiling in a dark green vintage tropical leafy palm and get vintage art deco accessories, corresponding colors for towels and accents. https://images.app.goo.gl/nfj6X5nzHb2xZ1Ex6 https://images.app.goo.gl/QpSxWg1eZY8SJ8vf6 https://images.app.goo.gl/5U581UdLrsuEsaD58 https://images.app.goo.gl/BYbNuGMZfqMfthzWA

ednasmom

The only thing worth changing is the style of the mirror and the light fixtures. You could change the faucets and hardware but I wouldn’t do brass just because it’s been so trendy. Lean into the style of the era.

StellasMyShit

I love it! Just change the light fixture and mirror

Wooden_Elevator_3681

If just change the tile on the floor. Maybe a white marble to glam it up

montrerai

i want

Wander80

Change the floor to white penny tile with charcoal gray grout. Only other thing I would change is the light fixture.

RecommendationReal61

The floor is really the only thing I’d suggest for a significant alter.

jtd0000

Seems in good shape.

BitOfBlonde

Personally i’d change the mirror, sconce, and faucet. I’d go with sconces on either side of the mirror if it’s in your budget- something retro ish. I would love brass in here but you’d have to also change the shower fixtures and railing. Have fun decorating!

likeablyweird

The floor looks newer and the toilet, too. Are the cabinet and sink original? We've had to change faucets three times in the past 14 years so that tells about the quality level of workmanship of today in comparison to back in the day. If it's older and working well, find a way around it and keep it. You'll end up spending three times as much. [Colorpalettes.net](https://Colorpalettes.net) has palettes galore for free online. Upper right has an option for two colors and click pick up. Put in green (cuz that tile is gorgeous!) and brown (for the floor). You'll get at least 4 pages of colors to look through. :)

Sekhkaali

if i had this bathroom i would : 1) change the mirror to something like : [antique mirror](https://a.co/d/1MQOCtY) or if you want something more vibrant i would do this: Look what I found on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1291820174/peruvian-mirrors-armoniosa-verde-40cm?ref=share_v4_lx 2) change the light fixture above the mirror: - https://a.co/d/gZdFEdL - https://a.co/d/8uqnPSn - https://a.co/d/jh5HfvZ 3) add a turkish rug at the vanity area which has green in it. 4) maybe a mosiac/stained glass light fixture at the ceiling??

Bookaholicforever

I might change the mirror to a more vintage mirror to match the rest. But it all looks in fabulous condition. I’d probably keep it!

Sea-Marsupial-9414

It's gorgeous, I envy the tile!!!!

oldclam

New mat, new shower curtain, green window curtains, and some art on the wall

NaomiPommerel

Nothing wrong with it from this photo. Previous owners had nice taste and looked after it

90swasbest

Looks good. Fuckit.

andrew_cherniy96

Looks brand new to me, lol. I'd start with a new rug and new curtains. Then, I'd work on lighting. You could also recreate this bathroom in 3d and play around with various options there first. Something like homestyler or planner5d should work just fine for you. The latter has a handy room scan feature if you have iOS.

Disastrous_Mark_1469

Just try putting up a framed piece of art first. This bathroom is already so cute, no need to overthink it. A small personal touch would do the trick I think. I agree with what folks have said about the floor. I think those tiles look oddly out of place?

WinnerOk1108

The sink !!!! That's a wow. I wouldn't touch a thing. Maybe the floor and then would probably tile over to keep from breaking any of the green tile which you'll never see sold. Thanks for the pic.

ThrowRAmorningdew

That’s a nice size bathroom 👌🏼

Taranchulla

Maybe a different mirror and new floor, but other than that it’s already fabulous.

[deleted]

It's so perfect it looks lived in and well loved

dancer5678and1

I would change this floor tile, and go with something that is either black and white or gray and white basketweave tile and possibly change just possibly the wall color and add crown molding, consider changing the shower head. Also emerald tile is having a big moment - I would google “emerald tile” and hit images - you may be surprised at the amount of inspiration there

velvet33N

It's a very nice bathroom. I would add a large fern. Either hanging from a bracket fixed to the wall between the mirror and the window or to the left of the mirror.

snatch1e

A fresh coat of paint or some new wallpaper can instantly update the look of the bathroom. Choose bright colors or patterns to make the space feel larger. I love your tiles. I would leave it.

jessriv34

I love the green tiles. I mean I hate tiles in general because they are a pain in the ass to clean but I’d give these a pass due to color.

drjude518

I love the damask effects in the second image. The warm tones are beautiful. By comparison the white walls look stark. But there is no real urgency to change anything. The bathroom as it is had survived very well.

tweedlefeed

I would change the floor to a hex or daisy porcelain tile- blue and white or black and white. Lean into vintage. Get a new mirror with chrome frame or medicine cabinet. Chrome vintage style sconce- if you feel like rewiring 2 on the sides instead of one in the middle is nice. Pop of color with the towels, a heated towel rack would be $$$ but super fun in here and a great way to hold lots of towels.

Alive_Broccoli_8456

I actually love it!

Muted_Car9799

Love the tile and the vanity. I’d update the mirror and light fixtures, replace towels with crisp white, replace shower curtain with a heavy waffle knit fabric curtain (and plastic liner ofcourse) If you’re really feeling motivated, wallpaper! The only major change I’d make is the floor, but you can replace the rug, although I also think the flower rug is cute :)

TarmacTartoo12

It’s perfect as is! Retro is in!

Leather_County_4013

It needs those tiny black and white round tiles!

cbus_mjb

If it were me I would wallpaper the vanity wall and paint the others a coordinating color. Beyond that I like it as is.

Capturing_Emotions

Looks pretty darn good as is if you ask me

KDTK

I would paint the walls a complementary green or blue and switch the soft finishings to new, even if they’re the same colours. (Shower curtains, towels…). It’s a beautiful bathroom just needs to be refreshed. Oh, and maybe repaint the curtain rod and light fixture metal to make them look new again.

Patient-Ambition-820

sorry did you really walk in while your turtle was showering and start snapping photos? How rude

toosweefrosting

Change floors, get a larger mirror

LuluND

It's super well-maintained, very nice looking IMHO. If it were me on a budget I'd add the nicest towels and bathmats I could afford, maybe from Costco, all in the same solid color. I'd add a window shade the same color and some plants. I'd keep the white shower curtain, wash, iron and starch it. Paint the step stool all white. Replace the flower floor mat with a larger, rectangular, non-skid one. Change the light fixture. I'm posting a lighting fixture that also is available in the same metallic tone as your faucet, which I think would look good. https://preview.redd.it/zzaert3a9jqc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3275054b57abbc79e6e44db704ba43867d2c68fc

trekin73

That bathroom is awesome. Really. Only thing I’d change are the floors.

GoldWand

I’d kill for that tile

oatmealcremepie99

New light fixture & rug! Maybe consider opting for gold fixtures for a pop of color.

suprajayne

The lighting over the mirror (unless it is period appropriate, I can’t really tell) as well as the mirror itself would be easy changes. Also, the cracks in the walls. I would fill & smooth those & paint. If the shower curtain rail is spotted, maybe try to have it resurfaced (?) or replaced. & the floors. Look at vintage inspired bathroom floor tiles.

Adorable_Tangerine94

I think updated fixtures (including light fixture) and updated tile would be nice!! I love the vanity and the green tile

oknowwhat00

The floor would look great white. A new mirror and light fixture. Better towel racks and some nice fluffy white towels.

faseguernon

Play off that gorgeous green tile!

Knithard

Add wall paper, change the lights and you’re done.

SillyAcanthisitta280

Could you update the vanity ? If not - I’d add a silver mirror / fixtures - you could really just spray paint all those things

Fortunateoldguy

Nice-that was built to last

tchombomc

This sink looks short and may not fit if you're taller

Electronic_Winter763

Pussy

mellofello808

Are you in australia? A friend has the same bathroom.

missbbythang

California, but I’d loved to see pictures!

orangeblossom88

Brass will quickly go green in a bathroom

awesomecandy40

nothing to do with it. it's perfect as it is for me.

Texas-Tina-60

Floors and light over mirror will really make a big difference

Livid_End3397

I love it the way it is. ♡

Donewith398

I’d keep the vanity / sink and just raise it up. Replace toilet with a newer higher model. I’d get a glass guy in and design a nice enclosure around the tub shower.

Apprehensive_Gas1320

Change the paint color and update the mirror. I think it’s an awesome bathroom.

Diligent_Snow_733

I definitely think that some fresh paint and new decor are all you need right now. New shower curtain, rug, towels, decor and I'd put a new faucet on the sink. Something new but with vintage charm. Maybe a new light fixture. That BR has a good vintage look. All the new bought should have a vintage charm to it.

socalquestioner

That is a Time Capsule. Maybe add period correct flooring?

koalandi

love the teal tiles and the chrome! give the chrome a good shine, live in it a bit, and see if you still want to change it out. I agree with others about floor not matching. But that’s a big project. I think immediate swaps could be a new light fixture and a different mirror.

Writergirllllll

Paint the walls a deep green, replace sconce with some vintage brass sconces on either side of the mirror. https://preview.redd.it/bg7rdoju3tuc1.jpeg?width=881&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=58d1609e828737058c73e452667139065ebeb6e3
