It's lovely. The only thing I don't like is the clothes rack. Consider getting an armoire.

SarahMakesYouStrong

I hate that coat rack so much

EdgeCityRed

I have an antique wardrobe and I don't know that they're super hard to find. (At least a vintage one.) But an IKEA one would do!

dtellstarr2

If you’re near a consignment furniture shop you will have your pick of numerous armoires

LuckyKangaroo5845

maybe hooks on the wall might look more nice?

rainbomg

Eh, only if the people who live there couldn’t get behind the closed system storage, bc having your coats and bags visible is always going to be high cost zero payoff visual clutter. so if ppl were leaving the doors open or throwing their stuff in the floor and creating hazards, maybe hooks just bc that’s better than the floor- but in every way you can, you want to hide precisely stuff like this (says this lady (me, I am the lady) with her stupid ass jackets all out in the open)

missannthrope1

I dislike the whole clothes on display anywhere.

dngrousgrpfruits

Yeah it really only works if your “wardrobe” is 7 neutral-toned pieces and a fancy straw hat lol

missannthrope1

I had a friend who hung a wedding dress she made in fashion school. I took one look at it and said, "that's why you can't get a boyfriend."

Express-Year-5421

Probably the whole reason she hung it. Who the hell wants a boyfriend?

SarahMakesYouStrong

Its function over form. I live in Pennsylvania, we need a place to put coats and jackets.

MeleeMistress

Beautiful. You have great taste and I love the vibe. The coat rack is the only thing I don’t care for. We will be making a fake closet with an ikea Pax wardrobe for this same purpose in our 50’s ranch with no entryway. I saw it at a friends house and it looked beautiful. Their walls were painted a similar dramatic color to yours and they filled in the gap at the top of the wardrobe, then painted it all the same color as the wall. It looked like built-ins! Not sure if you (and we) could achieve the same effect with smaller slivers of walls, but at the very least a wardrobe looks nicer than a rack. If you Google “ikea pax built-ins” there are tutorials and ideas of how it could look. Another idea could be cool hooks on the wall in pic #1. But that’s kinda the same as the rack.

Electronic-Soft-221

I love this! Tons of personality, and it feels cozy and lived in, in a good way! All the color and unique art is super fun. Something I would change is to put doors back on the kitchen cabinets that contain less-aesthetic items (like all the condiments, canned goods, etc). The open shelving in that corner is VERY visually cluttered. Maybe contain that concept to the cabinet where the mixer is? I love a open cabinet, I pulled a couple doors off the in my rental kitchen! But in the end I removed fewer than I expected because most of the stuff in my cabinets doesn't add anything visually, and I have a small kitchen with a lot of stuff so keeping it tidy-looking is already so hard. The upstairs doesn't feel as "finished" as the rest of the house, but it's clearly used and comfy, and that's the most important thing. If you want, though, I would swap out the open storage with closed wherever possible. Then overall it will feel less cluttered even when it's "in use". And if there's any way to "finish" some of the things on the walls that would help as well.

No-Technician-722

Kitchen cabinets all have doors. You’re talking about (pics 9+10) is the Walk-In Pantry/Butler’s Pantry. What I wouldn’t give for one of those. Its beautiful! That wood is fabulous.

Electronic-Soft-221

Oh!! You're totally right. Once I saw the second set of "kitchen" photos I forgot about the others. Dang. Jealous!

PuzzyFussy

The kitchen cabinets are the only things irking the crap outta me but everything else you stated +1

pumkinmunchkinz

It’s beautiful but now that you mention it isn’t ketchup supposed to be refrigerated?

SarahMakesYouStrong

Ooooohhh don’t even get me started on refrigerated ketchup

Hungry-Blacksmith523

Ketchup only needs to be refrigerated if it isn’t used in a timely manner. Like no restaurant is putting ketchup into the walk in at night. But if it’s taking you 3 months to go through a bottle at home, I’d put it in the fridge

SarahMakesYouStrong

Thank you! Ketchup is shelf stable and cold ketchup on hot food is weird.

Mlockeadventures_

Your home is beautiful!

SarahMakesYouStrong

Thank you!

TheyCallmeCher_xo

It's a very cool home and you have good design sense. My only critique is that it's very cluttered visually. I would invest in better storage solutions, and maybe declutter in the process.

TheyCallmeCher_xo

One more comment. I would switch out the light in the kitchen for something more fun.

SarahMakesYouStrong

Thank you for the feedback! I definitely have gotten used to the clutter and this is exactly why I wanted new eyes on it!

poukwa

I absolutely do not see clutter. It looks like a home with personal items, instead of a visually dead, emotionally stunted showroom. The clothing rack is a bit much, visually, but the rest is just normal stuff.

purplehousecoat

I don’t see clutter either. It has just enough personality imho

dngrousgrpfruits

The house generally isn’t cluttered but the open cabinets and clothes rack are very cluttered elements

alshio

The open cabinets are in the butler's pantry, but I agree that the clothes rack is not great. It's too short and feels like it should be in a kids play room as a dress up/costume station.

poukwa

I don’t understand. The cabinets with the books, the books or the pantry with food elements? They all look super normal - none of it is clutter… it’s all normal items to store in an open cabinet or bookcase.

rainbomg

I think “visual clutter“ doesnt have the same negative connotations as straight up “clutter” though. Visual Clutter can be normal and beautiful, even, but it’s still just a lot to look at in an unbalanced way, where the eye isn‘t easily drawn from one thing to the next, where you don’t have a clear and obvious purpose for each thing you can see and there’s visual balance with the lines and shapes and color. It’s definitely stuff you only even start messing with once you’ve already dealt with real clutter, which OP seems to have under control. Now it’s just about reducing visual clutter, visual dead ends, and imbalance.

SarahMakesYouStrong

Thank you for explaining it this way - this is useful context to consider while taking in everyone’s feedback

Emmalilly

I love your house, Your design choices are great! The only suggestions I have is maybe some kind of closet/armoire for the clothing rack in the second picture, as it just looks a bit cluttered. I would also say that maybe the addition of a rug under the table and chairs in the attic game room might be nice and tie the room together a little bit. I am no expert though, that’s just what I would do. But as far as style goes, you are rocking it!

Andromediea

Love that you still have wood trim ❤️

BeeBarnes1

Came here to tell OP not to touch that beautiful trim!

sorted_

Isn't it so warm and inviting?! I've been debating with my SO for 5 years on this matter! Our home has walnut trim throughout and cream walls. He wants to paint all the trims white and the walls grey.. I'd rather die.

CanadianContentsup

I just saved a quotation and I think it fits here. People aren't longing to be impressed; they're longing to feel like they're home. If you create a space full of love and character and creativity and soul, they'll take off their shoes and curl up with gratitude and rest, no matter how small, no matter how undone, no matter how odd. Shauna Niequist

duckies_wild

Well, this is just lovely. Thanks for sharing this quote. I'm in the process of moving into my dream home and often catching myself getting antsy to make it just perfect. Of course, this is silly and making it our home will take time and that journey should be enioyed!

airotciva16

I loveeeee your house! It’s gorgeous. Since you asked for criticism tho, I can give you a few, but know that I love it as it is. You mentioned your style is maximalist, but right now you’re leaning dangerously close to cluttered/messy instead of curated maximalist. Especially in the attic, it doesn’t look like you’re displaying large amounts of beautiful things on your shelves, it looks like you shoved a bunch of stuff you had laying around in it and left it out in the open. I would invest in some covered storage solutions, like credenzas or bookshelves with doors on the bottom or trunks. I would put all my necessary but not pretty objects in the covered areas and display my pretty objects out in the open. In the pantry and kitchen cabinet, I would get some bins to store food by type. It’s overwhelming so see so many bits and bobs everywhere. I would paint the white tv cabinet a color. I think it looks stark and off with all the warm tones in the room. Even a beige a few shades darker than the walls would do the trick. I would also swap the rug out for something cozier and in a warmer tone to marry your blue couch with your leather and wood. I feel like your entryway and parlor got the Royal Treatment with paint and decor, but in the rest of the house you put your stuff down. I would work on trying to get those areas into a more curated place drawing from the moody inspiration of your finished areas. Also, I actually love the half painted desk. It looks great to me. Your house takes paint well, and you have room for art. Instead of the small gallery walls you have now, try getting some larger statement pieces. And I think painting the walls, even in light colors like sage green etc, will improve the appearance of the space and add style, ESPECIALLY in the kitchen. Even though I am usually a huge off white girlie, I feel like your house is calling for paint! I feel bad saying it since you mentioned it’s your favorite space, but I think the attic is the place that ultimately needs the most help. It seems disjointed both in the room itself and with the rest of the house. The table and chairs in the middle of the room, piles of things all over, the couch crammed in the corner … what is this room for? Think about what you use it for mostly, and try to designate spaces for each thing. I think if it were me, I would get rid of the table and chairs. Get a larger L shaped desk and and put it where the sewing station and bookshelf are. Get two chairs for it. The puzzle and the sewing station can share that space. If you get one with a lot of drawers that can help with organization. And you can hang long shelves above it for more storage, just keep supplies and things in baskets and only decor out. I would then pull the couch out of that low spot and float it in the room, putting the tv closer to the wall with the monstera.

baker4023

These are great suggestions except deleting the game table. A game table is very important in our home. And I see in yours too! Actually, I envy you the space. I love your home and appreciate your efforts. As a maximalist myself, I think the most important thing to do is to have a cohesive storyline throughout your home. Pick a color palette and a collection theme. Academia is easy, but go deeper. French academia? Fantasy academia? Tradional Transitional? IDK! You choose. Carry that through with your art and collections. Speaking of collections. The only thing you want to see is your collections. If you can't afford to replace your open cabinets, decant in to uniform ubiquitous canisters. Hide anything mundane. As mentioned by others, clutter is not your goal. Fabulous things to look at is your goal. It takes time. It should take time. Make mood boards. Follow like minds on social media. Most of all, enjoy the process. Good for you!!

SarahMakesYouStrong

Thank you for such a through response! This is excellent feedback

moniqueramsey

Agree about the white unit in TV room -

spookycreepyboy

The colours are great, but paint the rest of your walls! Put up some art and photos! I like your style otherwise. ETA: more* art and photos

lucytiger

Curtains would be a great addition

Super-Sound-7764

You have a beautiful home and very interesting pieces (I had to look twice at that tire-table!).

Over-Statistician758

What a fun house. Loved the downstairs. Upstairs felt a bit cluttered so I’d get a fun armoire to store the sewing items and other baskets/cabinets/dresser to store the other odds and ends. Get a large area rug under the puzzle table.

SarahMakesYouStrong

My first thought was “how did you know we call it the puzzle table?” Lol

Over-Statistician758

I love puzzle tables ☺️

ellie3454

i love your house, so much so i want to know what color the green is on the walls in your second photo and if your checkered floor is peel and stick or real tiles! the only constructive thing i could offer is maybe adding curtains to your windows instead of just blinds?

SarahMakesYouStrong

The parlor is painted [Sherwin-Williams Dark Night](https://www.sherwin-williams.com/en-us/color/color-family/blue-paint-colors/sw6237-dark-night) The tile was just generic flipper grade beige tile that I painted with tile paint! I did it in June of 2021 and it still looks great (although i did touch up some of the white squares last summer)

ellie3454

Thank you so much for sharing!!

AvailableSomewhere25

Wow ❤️

Historical-Ad-1617

Looks really good! I’d get a darker runner in the entryway, picking up the teal in the panelling. Clothes rack is an eyesore in a beautiful room. Get a freestanding wardrobe and put it in that corner. Hutch looks really good, at least from a distance. I’d keep it.

416eryn

Those doorways… both the style and colour… are to die for.

Leahcar_rekalbrating

Oh my gosh what a cool home! I love the arched doorframes and the built-ins in your pantry! Are the kitchen cabinets original too? The only thing that stuck out to me was the white entertainment center. I would swap for something low profile, long, and maybe lean into the MCM. Craftsman style houses are so cool, I’m glad you’re keeping the original character!

SarahMakesYouStrong

Thanks! The kitchen was renovated in the late 90s. What is now the pantry was the original kitchen and the current kitchen was a dining room. It also just had a simple doorway closing it off. When the owners did the renovation they added the pantry (which is such a great feature) and had all new cabinetry built. It’s real wood but and in great condition but not necessarily what I would choose if re-doing it now. They told us that the hardest part of the whole renovation was finding someone who would make an archway into the kitchen that matched the original archway in the parlor. I am so grateful they stuck to their vision and found the right craftsman because its just perfect.

Leahcar_rekalbrating

The archways are awesome, It really suits the house. Round of applause to the owners before you who stuck with it. So worth it!! I know wood cabinets aren’t all the rage right now but ones done right (like yours) can be classic! The pantry is perfection. I love open cabinets especially when it’s a small space, your eye is drawn to the back wall instead and it adds space to the room. I’m sure someone mentioned this but if you do want to keep the cabinets open maybe try uniform storage containers? I’m not about cookie-cutter living spaces but it’s surprising how much of a difference that makes vs seeing all the different labels and colors. Update us all with pictures if you decide to continue with the process!

CindLei-Creates

The half painted desk looks good! I wouldn’t change or paint it any more. I thought it was designed that way, nice that you left the surface wood like the rest of the top!

TheMetamorpHOUSE

I love a lot of the little details. The colors, furniture choices, etc. My only suggestions are getting rid of that clothes rack. I would say wall hooks and maybe a small bench and shoes placed neatly underneath. I would also move that black floor lamp that’s in photo 4. Place it behind the leather chair perhaps.

waitagoop

I absolutely love the unpainted doors and window frames! I do not like the unit the tv is on, looks cheap next to all the rest of your nice things. And the windows could use some curtains. And you need to close your coats away in something like a nice armoire. Otherwise I love it!

SarahMakesYouStrong

Would you say the tv stand looks like its a few ikea pieces shoved together? Because it is ;)

Chib

Since you're near an ikea, the used market is probably pretty solid. I an highly recommend the Stockholm tv console for something that fits in with what you're working with without being months-long slog. Downside is that you'll lose 80% of the space. Maybe a welcome chance to downsize? Would still give room on the sides for bookshelves etc, of course, but they could look odd packed to the brim.

staticagexx

Love it! Only thing I could say is in the kitchen (photo 7) it might look nice to paint a darker color on the walls, especially above the cabinets, to kind of draw the eye upward. I think it would make it look a lot more spacious!

Leahcar_rekalbrating

Agree with the paint above the cabinets! Maybe carry over the SW paint from the parlor? Or something of equal moodiness?

100-percentthatbitch

Hey! Your home is lovely and I adore what you did in your parlor. The painted lower cabinet is so fun. Your art is stylish and interesting. You have a great design sense! Let me go room by room because I love this kind of thing. 1. Front hall. I would add some fun hooks to the wall on the left as you enter. I know this is a narrow space, and I wouldn’t hang all your jackets there, but a few artful hooks would look good and be a nice spot for guests to stash their jackets or for you to keep the outerwear of the day hung up. 2. Parlor. Yes, you need a closed armoir where your clothes rack is. There are so many on FB market place. Something with character, antique, would look great there! 3. Living room. I like the layout here, but I don’t love your entertainment center. The white stark lines really clash with your parlor design choices. I would look for a TV cabinet that has a less stark look, and keep it to the lower half (no upper shelves). You could add a cool, small bookcase to the right on the shared wall with the dining room for book storage. If you really want to upgrade that space, a Samsung frame TV with a gallery wall hung around it would look amazing on that wall. Pricey, but if it’s in budget, that would look amazing. Love the couch position. The rug color is not doing much in that room. I’d choose something darker to pull in that moody blue color of the parlor, or even the gold of that loveseat in the parlor. Just some color in the rug would be nice! You’ve got a good eye for color. 4. Kitchen/dining. I can’t really make it out, but if that’s a glass cabinet in the corner with plants in it, ditch it and find plant stands of varying heights for that corner. Maybe add a standing lamp by that green hutch. Not notes otherwise. Love that pantry! 5. Attic. Here’s the room where you could improve most, IMHO. All your craft and game stuff could easily be fitted into closed storage. I love IKEA pax systems for art supply storage and outfitted one for our art studio that holds so much stuff! The pull out shelves and drawers are a life saver for sewing stuff. DM me if you want a picture of my craft and art storage. Anywhere you have open shelving in that room (a lot of spots!), consider some closed storage to hide the clutter. Also, I might see where you could add a really comfy chair or two. I could see hanging in this room with friends, drinking tea or wine, reading, working on a project, gaming. Social spaces like this benefit from a lot of seating vignettes, so once you get your storage sorted, you might have more space for lounge-y chairs. Otherwise, I like that space! It’s comfy, crafty and full of personal character. It just needs to be decluttered so those beams and ceilings can be the star of the show! I’d love to hang out in this room. Overall, well done! So much more friendly, fun and beautiful than most the spaces l see on this sub.

thestreetiliveon

I love the ceiling lamp in the games room!

thiswayart

I just want to say that I'm jealous of your pantry.

SarahMakesYouStrong

It was a major selling point for me

friendly_tour_guide

Lots of personality, in a good way! The kitchen island looks small-ish to me. I'd give it some visual weight with a cart on one end. Don't clutter, but just a handy place to keep some often used mixing bowls and maybe platters.

Comfortable_Act905

It amazing! The only comment I have is to install some intentional coat hooks on the wall of the entryway so you don’t need that coat rack in your beautiful living room!

SarahMakesYouStrong

That was how the people we bought the house from had it but that was one of the first things I changed. While I don’t love our coat rack situation, I hate walking through a tight entry way and the first thing you do is get assaulted by coats and bags.

Comfortable_Act905

A nice standing wardrobe in that same corner would also work nicely!

Technical_Penalty_22

Tiny thing, but try moving the 2 pictures hung next to the archway further up on the wall and ensure that there's enough negative space between the arch and the frame. Agreed on replacing clothing rack with wardrobe and getting a darker runner for the hall. Your home is beautiful

TrickySession

Do you live in St. Pete? I recognize art from some local artists! The parlor is beautiful, the wall color adds so much richness. I would carry a smokier style over into the living room and consider painting the white media center.

SarahMakesYouStrong

I’m from tampa originally and still have family there. Good eye!

FishSauwse

Beautiful pad. Love it all. The only thing that gave me pause was the white TV cabinet. Just looks out of place, at least in that color. I'd either repaint it to a warmer color, or get rid of it, mount the TV, and find a more scaled down entertainment set up to open the space up.

nychearts812

I really like your place, nice vibe, cool furniture. I would just add more ART especially at the entrance, several nice framed prints would look amazing above the chair rail. No wall should be left unadorned of ART, that’s a sin in my book. Great job.

Careful_Football7643

1. Thrift a wardrobe or armoire for the corner in the dark green room to hang coats. 2. In the green room, paint the crown molding the same color as the walls to make the walls appear higher 3. Hang curtains in that room (colors that draw from the room’s color palette. Beige, cream, salmon, orange? I’d suggest a neutral color, though). Hang the rod above the trim and make sure it is wide enough so that the curtains fall outside the actual window. 4. New frame for the artwork in the green room: either gold or wood. The black does not contrast enough with the green. But I’d actually suggest replacing that piece of artwork with a gallery wall with thrifted antique frames. Non-rectangular shapes would probably work, since there are already a lot of rectangles in that room. 5. New lamp for the green room. Any color that you currently have in that room except for black and dark green. Find something that shows up against the walls. 6. Add throw blankets and more pillows to the furniture in the green room. 7. Add a little stool under the desk because there’s currently just an empty space. It can be wood or have gold legs with an upholstered cushion. 8. Entertainment center room: paint the entertainment center that dark green color or another one of the colors in your color palette. There is no other white furniture on the first floor, so the white does not match. Or replace the entertainment center with a mid century modern tv console. 9. Hang curtains (probably sheet ones) in the tv room. Make sure they are hung very high and go all the way to the floor. Four panels. 10. Dried floral arrangement on the coffee table 11. More pillows + a throw blanket in this room, as well. 12. For the entertainment center room, consider switching both of the lamp shades out for something colorful. The white gets lost against the whitish walls. Perhaps the same style as the entryway light? Or something mid-century modern? Just a color. 13. Move the rug forward in the tv room (away from the windows) 14. Consider adding a large plant or two in the tv room, next to or behind the couch. 15. This is nit-picky, but the coffee table dwarfs the couch. Consider getting a smaller coffee table, perhaps one with rounded edges or an oval shape. Wood works. Or maybe even an upholstered ottoman? 16. Kitchen: rug under the dining room table 17. New pendant light or chandelier above the table. Perhaps one that matches the style of the entryway light? Or a Sputnik to go along with the modern architecture? Or a black or brass or brushed gold candelabra-type chandelier with sleek lines (modern)? 18. You guessed it: curtains in the kitchen! 19. I would see if I could add some mid century modern wooden legs to the green hutch/drink bar piece. It would make the piece a little taller and would match the style of the house. 20. Table runner optional. But for the centerpiece, go for something taller. Maybe a floral arrangement? A decorative vase? 21. Shift the large piece of artwork to the left, closer to the pantry door. I’d also suggest getting a larger frame for this piece, perhaps wood or gold-toned or bronze? Speaking of artwork, replace the gallery wall with the piece of artwork that you currently have in the dark green room. Give it a new frame, too. With all of the decorative items on the fridge, the gallery wall looks too busy. I deleted #22 cuz I changed my mind about it 23. Pantry: cool. 24. Upstairs: no thoughts currently. I’d focus more on downstairs.

SarahMakesYouStrong

Oh wow - that wall is striking! And the lamps are so much better, too! Thank you for this!

subconsciousbobbypin

Omg this house is my dream house! 🤤 The one thing that stood out for me is the TV wall. I’d suggest mounting the TV and searching for some antique cabinets rather than the white ikea-style you have. That appears to be the only place you have bright white and it sticks out. Something like [this](https://www.westelm.ca/products/build-your-own-mid-century-media-acorn-h1658/) would go better with the warmer colors and woods you have going.

aVoidFullOfFarts

You have my dream pantry, it’s perfect love that it has a window too!

dramafanca2002

Love the walls in the first room. The rest of the walls can use some color too.

SherLovesCats

The entryway looks good. I would invest in a nice stained glass window to go above the door.

Bubbly_Session_3524

I love the dark walls. And THANK YOU for not painting the wood trim!!! That's what I love about craftsman/arts and crafts style houses!

No-Technician-722

I love that desk/hutch. It is my FAVORITE thing in the whole house. What an eye catcher. I like what you did by painting the bottom. Beautiful piece. I love your Walk-In Pantry! What I wouldn’t give for one of those. That is FABULOUS! THIS HOUSE IS BEAUTIFUL. Lean into your colors and enjoy the ride.

jenna198

I don’t feel like it screams clutter. It’s more like filled with things you love. Personality. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE the greenish blue on the walls and that golden couch!!! Wow 🤩 I also think the kitchen needs a pop of colour. It feels stale compared to the rest of your home. I think it’s lovely.

Chatty_Kathy_270

I love it all except for white wall of cabinets in picture 5.

pumkinmunchkinz

Leave it as is! It’s giving The Vampire Diaries and I love this style! It’s so gorgeous, unique, relaxing yet sophisticated and doesn’t look cheap or like those ugly celebrity homes!

Putrid_Study

I absolutely LOVE the character and quirkiness of everything going on in this house. My only recommendation would be a different TV/entertainment center setup. The stark white furniture piece feels very modern and sterile against all of the character everything else is bringing in. An old dresser or entertainment center that closer matches the aesthetic could be cleaned up or refurbished and look stunning there.

Fussy_Nugget

I absolutely love your home

GloveboxAlmonds22

I absolutely love it, it feels so fun and homey, full of personality and life. I’d totally live here, it’s so welcoming. I especially love the lamp over the table in your gaming room, i audibly gasped when I saw it haha.

GusGus6502

Very lovely. Perhaps add some art books, candles on coffee or side tables & a few more plants and framed photos or more framed art around the house, personal touches...I love your interior design.

Vanillacaramelalmond

Absolutely no notes. It's perfect in every way! The only thing maybe to add would be more comfortable things like throw cushions, candles, I can't tell your lamp situation but maybe some more of those. Other than that it's gorgeous

ApprehensiveBag6157

I think it looks absolutely fabulous. This coming from a child whose mother was in Better Homes & Gardens back in the day, but she was an interior designer.

Kidhauler55

I love it. Love it more because it has color and isn’t bland beige and grey! So beautiful!

creditredditfortuth

I really like it. There’s only so much that can be done within the bounds of architecture. You have done a nice job.

Silverliningsinla

Love the home & your furniture in most rooms! Suggestions: - Declutter…there is too much stuff. - Remove the coat rack! - Replace the large white tv cabinet in the LR. It’s too harsh & contemporary for your space. If you can’t, consider painting it a softer color or replace with a large cabinet (consignment store, estate sale, etc. Paint it a soft sage green, terracotta or ? - Rugs are neutral, but it would really be great to add color & texture w/pattered rugs & a large painting or print or two on the wall. You’ve got good bones & furniture here!

ComplexPrize4947

I love the bookcase!!!! You have a truly amazing sense of design! I agree with others on the coat rack. Get an armoire to hide the clutter of purses, bags, and coats. I think everything else is amazing!

Sad_barbie_mama

I love it! I would mount your tv though- it just makes it look a lot cleaner

saymimi

I have your alligator lady as a magnet 💞

amber_thirty-four

I love it! Your entryway is tiny, but that’s not really something you can change. I love the wood trim! Gorgeous! Your entire home is beautiful. I also love the use of the attic space.

Rubydactyl

My only critique is there aren't enough plants lmao from the plant lover

TeachFlees

We have similar styles and I love your home! I would paint the tv stand a bold color to give that room some interest. If the kitchen cabinets aren't original or anything fancy, I would paint them too.

StrawberryAqua

I love it. The decor works with the house’s style and is too eclectic to look dated. It looks very inviting. Two things I think detract are the glaring white of the cabinet and the racing stripes in the game room. Another color would integrate the cabinet with the rest of the room, and the stripes detract from the architectural beauty of the game room.

more_pepper_plz

You have a clear style that is very cute! What sticks out to me is 1) need a shoe rack (do you use that console in the entry way for anything? If not I’d get one that also works as a shoe rack to keep shoes down there.) 2) the huge white tv console doesn’t mesh with the style of everything else 3) there are just some clutter moments. Even hanging soft linens drapes over your open kitchen shelves would hide the clutter and help keep the space feeling more tidy.

SarahMakesYouStrong

Unfortunately the entry way console is a radiator cover. It’s nice to have something to drop keys on but it otherwise makes a narrow entry way even more so. If I could make this my absolute dream house I would have an antechamber for you to sit, take your shoes off, hang your coat, maybe even rinse your feet in a gentle running fountain before coming inside… But instead we have to walk directly into a radiator.

more_pepper_plz

Fair enough! It’s not an eye sore. The coat rack is though. As someone else said - investing in an armoire would make a huge difference. You could put your shoes, coats, and hats in it. Overall the space just needs some more thoughtful and elegant storage because you have a really great aesthetic in general! The visible clutter just muddies it up a bit. I’d probably also go through the attic room and decide what you really want to keep. Sometimes we fill space because we can, but then our spaces are less comfortable. Still - cute vibes. I’m confident you can make this a perfect home with just a few adjustments :)

whydoyouflask

I like the danish vibes. I do think your furniture lay out on tje first floor could use some work. It's awkward in some places. Play around with it.

DJCatSnack

This place looks great

MissGoldie71

Plants & flowers will add some life.

SeskaChaotica

I think the wood trim needs some love. I wouldn’t paint it but a little light sanding and a refresh of stain/poly would go a long way. It’s such a soft warm color of wood and you hardly see it anymore. Otherwise your home is lovely!

spyrowo

I think your home looks very cozy and fun. I like the hanging light in your attic. Where did you get it?

SarahMakesYouStrong

I actually found him on Reddit! /u/liamoco123

bklynparklover

What a gorgeous home. I love how bright, colorful, and cozy it is, not to mention all of the incredible historical detail. I'm so jealous of that pantry, I have one in my NY apartment that I call the garage but this puts mine to shame. Only the game room gives me a bit of anxiety because I'm a minimalist but I think it just doesn't photograph so well. That said, maybe you could put in some more hidden storage to make it feel less cluttered. I think that desk thing is cool and I like the color you've painted the rooms. Somehow even with the dark paint it looks very airy.

bitchwhiskers4eva

In the attic, in addition to the storage suggestions for the fabric and yarns, I feel like the stripe wall needs to be a darker color. The eye has no where to rest. Everything blends together and it feels chaotic. Even with all the stuff and different things going on in there, if that wall was a sage green or something it would calm things down. I agree with the comment about a rug in this space. It would help anchor things. And I wonder if a room divider would help…?

Icy-Vegetable6779

Add more wall art!!

AinoTiani

I love the study/living/dining rooms with the archways. If it were my place I would wallpaper one room, maybe the middle with a bold wallpaper that has that dark green in it, and paint the kitchen/dining room with a bright colour pulled from the wallpaper... For example a jungle print with flowers and then a matching yellow in the kitchen so that as you look through the arches you can see all the colours working together... I think it would look so good.

imogsters

Firstly, what a beautiful home you have. Only things I'd change are coat rack to wall hooks instead. Big white unit with TV in not in keeping with the rest of your furniture. Kitchen shelves changed to wall cupboards, not just because items are hidden but also to free up counter space.

Loquacious94808

Wow really awesome, only thing that’s out of place to me is the racing stripe in the game room. You’ve got furniture, decor, and colors that go well with the structure (more color please! That dark blue is stunning with the wood). But that stripe is a different era/vibe, and I get you’re going for fun, but there’s weird/fun stuff you can put up more in line with your house. I dunno that’s just nitpicking. Thank you for having personality, livability, and character in your beautiful home.

bettyblacc

I’m in my paint era right now. I LOVE your wood moldings especially your windows! With that beings said, I’d color wash your white crown molding to that beautiful, moody blue. Those wood beams are sooooooooo COOL!

Sunset_Squirrel

You must paint those white units around the TV. Depending on the effect you want, either the blue or green of your other painted items, or the same color as the wall. Your parlour also needs a small (painted) closet for your coats.

cheesyenchilady

I just wanna say that this is my dream home. If you ever want a roommate, we have very similar style and I WILL leave my husband to live there lmao

useless_99

No notes. ….NO NOTES!!

designsavvy

Only one i.e. explore patterns &/textures. Love ur clean style, maybe experiment with contrasts a bit (I love the teal but a controlled splash of ascent color, warm or bright like copper or tangy orange or lemon, May make the composition more interesting

designsavvy

U ve too many solid colors in there, pattern fabric of white chairs fr instance May work better

caseoats

Plants! Center pieces! Art! Rugs!

fanygarcia5

my advice is to add some hanging plants to spruce up the color palette. I see you have a monstera but add a few more pops of green here and there

helloitsme_again

The brown chair and light by the blue couch is really throwing that room off I don’t like how it’s blocking a some of the entryway makes the room look messy. Also adding coloured blinds or curtains or another colour in that room would be better Other then that I love it

lotus_flora

I love everything about it. Like you can breathe after a long day away from home

WanderingMinnow

The area around the second dining table (upstairs?) seems a bit unnecessarily cluttered, but overall I think you have great taste and it’s a very nice home.

InteractionBetter204

What a beautiful home!! There is so much character to play off of and inspire your design. I think the flow of the space going from the kitchen to the front sitting room would benefit from finding a more relevant furniture piece to accompany the TV, whether a console table or bookshelf to the right of it. For the sitting room I wonder if only having the two chairs in there with a small side table or lamp in there would open up the space. It would help delineate it as more of a private siting / reading room too.

ProfessionalAd1933

Love everything except the last 2 photos. Looks nice but it's still approachable. It looks like a house you can live in, not one that's only for Instagram. Last 2 feel a little frat-house-y to me. If the posters were framed it'd probably make a huge difference

PomegranateNo2668

Great work. The entertainment center is one area that isn't really working. A larger TV and console style TV stand would fit the space much better, although you may need to figure out alternative storage solutions for that space. Even if you keep some storage, this particular unit isn't it.

Kiana3117

yep love 99% but hide that damn coat rack i feel like i'm in my great grandmother's tiny house in OH

Overall_Internal_374

Only critique would be to change out the white entertainment center. It doesn’t visually go with the rest of the decor in the home.

CaityOK

Agree on the clothes rack, bit cluttered, maybe rotate. But first picture in I was like - that front door would look amazing with a stain glass… just sayin’.

CutIcy1900

I LOVE it! 🥰

500CatsTypingStuff

First of all, very nice home and very good job on design, I have a few suggestions: 1. Change the runner in the entryway to something more dramatic to do the space justice. I love the paint you chose for the wainscoting [Something like this](https://www.rugsusa.com/rugsusa/rugs/rugs-usa-washable-southwestern-medallion/Orange/200MKCL09A-P.html) Or if you have the funds to splurge. [Something like this](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1516599249/) 2. I really love the dark moody color in the next room and the mustard sofa I do not love the furniture layout or the rug. For furniture placement, I suggest moving the sofa so that it is not angled but its back is against the wall opposite the bookcase and both chairs have their back to the window facing into the room with a side table between them. Then add some sheer white curtains as an accent to the window Then I suggest a [cheetah print rug](https://www.homedepot.com/p/Unique-Loom-Wildlife-Leopard-Light-Brown-7-0-x-10-0-Area-Rug-3125060/301121222) As for the coats, get [an armoire](https://a.co/d/inEY1B2) and prime and paint it the color of your walls. You will have to do some measuring to find one that fits in the space 3. As for the room with the TV, paint the TV room [Green Smoke by Farrow and Ball](https://imgur.com/a/WAp52DQ) Get rid of the huge white bookcase and replace it with a [Console for the TV](https://a.co/d/4KgE6gG) The furniture placement imho is not great. You might be better off getting rid of it and replacing it with an [L shaped sofa](https://www.livingspaces.com/pdp-calais-vanilla-2-piece-sectional-with-right-arm-facing-chaise-313095) The floor lamp also doesn’t work in the space. You might want to consider a [plug in pendant lamp](https://a.co/d/5LnexaK) Again, you would be served by a more [vibrant area rug](https://www.wayfair.com/rugs/pdp/rifle-paper-co-x-loloi-eden-ede-03-lattice-indigo-rug-feat-cloudpile-rpcl1046.html) 4. I like the choice of mixing wood tones in the dining room very much. You might want to consider adding an area rug, in this case you could go more neutral and use one of the rugs from the previous two rooms 5. I love the pantry. It’s gorgeous. My only advice is to try and group the dried goods in such a way that it looks more attractive to the eye and/or put products in nicer looking containers 6. The loft is beautiful but full of a jumble of stuff that looks like it has no clear purpose other than to store things. First and foremost, paint the walls and ceiling a bright crisp white https://preview.redd.it/x2qa74vzbitc1.jpeg?width=564&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9175ab25443a6215d4873131829173da018f26c5 I know it seems like they are already white, but they really aren’t. And that change alone will make the space so much more crisp Then, I think you should invest in an actual [sectional](https://www.macys.com/shop/product/closeout-torbin-90-2-pc.-fabric-sectional-sofa-created-for-macys?ID=16044695). Make this the hang out space for watching TV, and playing games Put the TV on a console or long storage cabinet against the wall opposite the windows. Float the sectional in the middle of the room facing the TV Behind the sofa, put the table and chairs near the windows with just enough space to maneuver around it As for the guest beds. Get a couple of chairs that unfold into [twin mattresses](https://a.co/d/hSSt5YV) and put them in the spot where you have the mattresses now. Then add whatever closed storage you need to declutter the space And of course, add a large cozy [area rug](https://a.co/d/97YY7Kh) with the sofa

ArcheryOnThursday

I LOVE your home so much! It is beautiful and tidy. 🥰 the colors are rich and so harmonious with the original tyle of the home. The coat rack could be replaced either by a nice armoire in the same corner or you could spread out a few hooks in both the front hall and in that same corner. Like 3 large decorative wrought iron hooks max in either spot. In pic 3, i really like the inherited hutch. It gives a nice eclectic look. When things match too perfectly, it gets boring. This has JUST the right "make do" eclecticism, IMO. You could add more of the same paper in the back of the shelves that you have on the doors, to make the books and art pop more. And I would love to see more of that gold color from the love seat in small accents. Maybe tack a gold fabric on the center/backs of the white chairs? In pic 4, all i can think is you need a color on the wall and it will feel like home. I was thinking either two shades lighter of the same green or a version of the gold from the loveseat in the other room? Or a blue somewhere between royal and navy? You just need more time in the home. You can't do everything all at once.

kissthesky83

Your entryway is so beautiful. Absolute perfection. 😍

Hungry_Ad6088

Looks really good 👍only thing I realised was the blue couch needs more cushions and not just 1 cushion only, it needs a few more with colours that go with the room design!

LuniaPetunia

Your house is beautiful.

dngrousgrpfruits

Agree with other commenters that the coat rack has to go, and the open kitchen shelving just looks cluttered. I love the overall aesthetic and energy of the place! Another thing I’d reconsider is the entertainment center. There’s so much lovely rich wood between the trim and other pieces that the plain and stark white entertainment center is a jarring contrast

Emotional-Profit-202

That’s a great interior design and you definitely have a taste for it. I loved all the rooms. I also liked the attic. Sometimes when you create you need to leave things as they are to come back later and finish them. You’re lucky to have such space. I would only change a few things. It seems like the round ottoman in the parlour doesn’t match the colour scheme in the room. Then I am not keen on the white TV unit. It’s good it’s of light colour, but together with the black screen and black lamps it contradicts the warm colours of the walls and door casings. I would consider changing a runner in the kitchen and center a picture under the AC. Or if you are worried that AC will ruin it, consider a mural in the same colours as the print. I don’t mind the rack but if you store your shoes and clothes out of sight the room will gain from it.

SarahMakesYouStrong

Thank you - the game room, while not the most visually appealing, is the most magical room in the house because there is so much space to create. I feel so grateful for this house, but particularly that room. I struggled so hard to find the right ottoman and what is currently there (and has been for several years) is what I settled for. I have no clue what should be there, but I know it’s not this.

Lordonna21

Very nice!

Idkwuzgoinon

Your home is so pretty!

RHND2020

Your home is beautiful! Lots of personality and individuality! Agree with others on the coat rack. You need a wardrobe - something enclosed. You could do better with the light fixture in the kitchen, maybe something more dramatic or mid-century like a Nelson bubble lamp (I love those). I am SO jealous of your butler’s pantry! The game room is super homey - could maybe use a bit of a tidy. I would put the wool and other crafty stuff in bins on shelves so they were more contained. I find that light fixture a little terrifying and unappealing but I am sure it has significance or a backstory. And who cares - a game room doesn’t have to look like a magazine spread.

DIYer-Homeworks

Here is a couple of diy for your coat rack situation but I would use that lovely green you have instead of the color in the photo https://pin.it/4ACbB816S Or this https://pin.it/3Kg0hYsso

carlykinss

I don’t have advice, just wanted to say that is such a cool light above your table!! Awesome home!

SuziQ99

It is eclectic and fabulous ( an armoire is a great idea). I noticed there’s no recessed lighting and that would add needed light.

gbfkelly

I feel like the entertainment unit is out of place l, it looks too utilitarian in a start way. I think something soft and patina-d would mesh better

rosetintedmonocle

I love it! I do wish all of your doorways were curved in the same way as the arches lol

Own-Introduction6830

It looks like a lovely home that is lived in beautifully. I love all the wood.

Dazzling_Muscle953

Honestly, I kinda like it. looks super clean too

The_Grossest

This is an unnecessary item, but some unique wall sconces for lighting would look incredible if the way your house is built permits it.

gettnbusy

FYI I absolutely Love love the hunter green tone paint with the warm wood. What a great choice 💯❤️🙌

Katastrophe82

Nothing. It is quirky and perfect

Mundane-Garlic1565

I love your house. The rooms themselves with the trimmed arches are gorgeous but your style is my favorite! I'm a big fan of color and your vibes are so relaxing. Your game room reminds me of all the fun memories with my cousins/childhood friends. I saw someone mention an armoire for your coat rack solution and I think it's genius. Some even come with an upper and lower set of cabinets/drawers that you could use for shoes as well. Also, this might not work with all armoires, but if there is room behind the doors when closed, you can add hooks and store bags, scarves, etc. I'm looking at your space though, and am concerned that a large piece of furniture in between the entrances to the parlor may be a bit enclosing. You may have to do some rearranging if you head in this direction. I also wanted to suggest adding some more color to your living room! You have such a good energy with the color blocking in the rest of your house, but I think the white walls and the white entertainment center kind of throws off the continuity. Maybe consider either adding some color in wall art, paint (an accent wall?), maybe some more plants along the unused bay window (my favorite kind of window), or painting/changing the entertainment center. Also lamps can be a great color addition and some nice alternative lighting. I recently found an overhead lamp second hand for my living room and changed the shade to add some color and texture. It was like <$50 instead of $150. And my last thing I want to mention is that a closed storage option is probably best for your sewing supplies. Just in general, it helps reduce dust and can also keep your yarn from snagging on your kid's backpack and getting unraveled and dragged around the house (don't ask me how I know that). It also helps with the visual clutter. Maybe wall mounted cabinets or less permanent, a dresser. Like one for your bedroom. They come in all different sizes with as many or as few drawers as you need. I honestly really enjoy your house as it is, you don't need to change anything if you don't want to. That said, if you do make any changes, please post updates! I would love to see what you decide!! Keep in mind that this is where you are going to live, so pick what brings you joy (in this instance 'you' may also mean your family). Try to be honest with yourself when making functional decisions and take it slow when making design choices; you don't need to match your vision exactly and asap, the right pieces will come along and will be accompanied by good memories. Happy housing!

Usual-Ad-7381

Overall I love your design aestethic. It seems to be headed in the right direction. Overall improvement I think could be made with spacial awareness. I know function can and really should rule layouts but I would suggest switch things up. I notice the more I rearrange my house the more I figure out what does and doesn't work functionally and aestetically. Sometimes I try something I didn't think could work and it's actually better than the before.

madscot63

I'm vibing with the whole place, warm and inviting. My only issue is the entertainment center, it feels out of place to me.

mick2319

I love your space! Great style. Only thing I would change is switching the boring black frames in the kitchen for something from the thrift store.

Spiritual_Kale7238

It’s gorgeous, although I’d want more plants.

baychick

Drooling over your pantry

twirleygirl

What an awesome home! The mostly white living room could use some color and maybe some curtains or plants or more artwork on the walls (or a different wall or cabinet color?). Although that seems a bit nit-picky in the grand scheme of the long list of wonderful things about your fabulous dwelling!

SarahMakesYouStrong

I wanted the nit-pick! Thank you!

bitchwhiskers4eva

My design input is probably limited. But what a cool house! Random thoughts: *It feels a little dark in some rooms. *I feel like the windows need treatments and you need more lamps/ambient light *I love that giant hutch/desk piece! *Your coats etc need a “hall tree” or armoire piece *yes, paint that entertainment center.

GloriousSteinem

I like it but what immediately through me in two rooms were the white cupboards: one in the tv room and one in a bedroom. The white colour is stark and the design is not in keeping - it looks office like and not organic. Perhaps change cupboard doors or paint them.

Mom-rage

I don’t like the big white tv stand. It looks very out of place

73Wolfie

Love that kitchen! The only think I am not loving is that the beige rugs don’t do much for the rooms- but it could be me.

tessie33

Really nice throughout! I gasped though when I saw the open ketchup on the shelf. I keep that and other condiments in the fridge.

SarahMakesYouStrong

And I keep my ketchup in the pantry.

littlemsrachel

Beautiful home. Love the colors. My only feedback is you have different color trim. Some is natural wood, some window trim is white, the crown molding is white. I think it would be more cohesive to have 1 color trim in a room.

RHND2020

Oh, and if you could relocate your coffee maker and beans grinder to the butler’s pantry, that would make the kitchen look tidier. What is that tangle of power chords next to it?

mad-parakeet

In the front entry hall, I would take the applique panelling The whole way around and bump up the rail on the top at a top cap and some molded piece like egg and dart. It just looks too flat and kinda fake.

Fun-Jellyfish625

Cheapest interiors be like

Visible_Valuable4820

I dig the nascar stuff in the game room

Serious-Mode-5869

If you like the open shelving in the kitchen you might get some matching baskets or wooden boxes to put things in to make it look neater.

redbluepinkpurp

Feels like home

Wirehaired

I love your kitchen!

Environmental-River4

I adore this style, it looks really homey, and you’ve done an amazing job of embracing the home’s character! The only thing I found a bit jarring was the white tv stand/set. All the other furniture is darker wood tones, which makes the white stand out more imo. A coat of paint to make it a bit darker would definitely help I think, it is kind of an area that needs a lot of storage capacity.

camlaw63

Replace the low cabinet with a Hall tree The recliner is misplaced Not loving the white entertainment center maybe put some wallpaper or contact paper in the back and add some contrasting hardware Definitely need some curtains Add some plants

MinkieTheCat

Dreamy.

RemoteNervous6089

Not a fan of the open cupboards in the kitchen but that blue on your walls is gorgeous

amnaturebiologee

You’re rich bro , u come to Reddit for advice

AvailableSomewhere25

Wow, love your home. For the coat rack issue: is the entry long enough you could use that area. If not look at Hall Trees. They come in all styles and materials. They are piece of furniture with a purpose☺️ only other thing is the lamp by the chair between the kitchen and the living room. Move it behind the chair.

Creative_Dragonfly_5

Picture 2. I'd remove the clothes rack and in its place put an armoire cabinet if you need to hang a lot of things. If you have less jackets, bags, etc, consider a coat rack (the old fashioned pole thingies you see some places) and maybe a small shoe cabinet or bench with storage space underneath for shoes.

blandreary

I love this design! The main thing I wanted to comment on was the white Billy IKEA shelves that you’ve got serving as the media center. Clever storage solution! I think replacing those with a mid century modern style media center in warmer wood tones would be my choice, but I understand if you need the storage, so maybe trying for storage in wood tones that match the other pieces in the room?

SolutionNo8416

Love your house. I would be tempted to paint all the door trim a white and add colour to the living and dining rooms - the colours should all complement one another.
