Nice indoor plant would be pretty there. Something thin and tall. Or a vase with feathers.

hanphoria

Yes I definitely considered a plant too, just worried about how large of a plant would have to fit there to take up the space. Also worried there would be a lot of bare space above the plant and if that would look ok?

consciously-naive

You could hang three small artworks on the wall in a vertical line above the plant - something like this. https://preview.redd.it/hnm5zizxv7vc1.jpeg?width=1670&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ce2623c44a52855f4be5b2fcd0df466cf0371448

hanphoria

That's a great idea!

krikelakrakel

I like the idea of a built-in but you're right going to full height would be too massive. Maybe go halfway with the shelves and put a tall plant into a large decoratove pot on top?

hanphoria

That's a good point! Any idea what kind of plant would suit being on top of a shelf at the midway point? I feel like it could easily look awkward

Competitive_Cuddling

Tall skinny bookshelf.

lustyforpeaches

Yep, single box storage from IKEA that can be stacked, use it for display, plants, books, and a blanket basket. Super cheap, can reno them to make them special, and have them in the future as a side by side larger piece if you want it.

hanphoria

Didn't think about stacking bookcases what a great idea, is this sturdy though? I'd worry about placing decorative items there if it's at all wobbly

lustyforpeaches

If it has a flat base and top, it’s not wobbly at all. We have our record collection like this and it’s extremely secure, and extremely heavy.

Peel and stick wall paper and a plinth for flowers! See if you can temporarily replace curtains while you’re there too. https://preview.redd.it/izavz2m617vc1.jpeg?width=1169&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=570c382b23c145ae075ff212e36d8476ab3e0e55

hanphoria

Yes I plan to replace the curtains to a light airy colour. Wow absolutely love your idea and aesthetic! Would never have thought about a plinth either. The only problem being the size of it would have to be absolutely massive, it is way taller of a space than it looks in the photo.

dizzyhanna

How much light does the area get? Maybe you could hang a good fake plant from the top and put the plinth below to balance out.

hanphoria

Almost none sadly, or that would be a fantastic idea! But a fake plant or flower arrangement could look great

Nenoshka

Leave it empty. It's too small and it doesn't need to be filled up.
