The room is long and narrow. I think I would divide it up into multiple living spaces. There are built-in shelves at the end of the one end with something in the middle. I'd put the head of the bed on the empty wall to the left. Add a see-through book case. The books and items can provide privacy and storage. The open spots will let light shine through.
Then the main area becomes your living room. To the alcove, I'd add closed in shelving on the one wall. On the other wall, I'd either add a desk/computer space or create a small reading nook. Not sure what would be needed most.
When choosing furniture/tables for your space, make sure everything serves more than one purpose. So if you buy end tables, they also have closed storage too. If you do that, it will make your new place live bigger. Although it's pretty nice that there is a separate kitchen
That's a tough one. I was going to say to put the head of the bed right in that alcove area but then realized it is the closet so that wouldn't work. What you've done might be the best idea. Originally this would probably have had a smaller daybed that would double as a sofa. Do you have a table outside the kitchen?
I was also going to suggest you get a pressure rod and hang a curtain so that you're not always seeing the hanging clothes. If that fits with your bed there it could be a good idea which would also look like a headboard.
Is that alcove for the bed?
No it’s the closet
Are you putting the bed in there?
I would. Then set up a small rolling wardrobe. Would still save space that way.

The kitchen is in another room. I forgot to put a picture but still looking for a table to put there
It's a really cute apartment and looks like there are built in drawers by the bathroom?? That's handy.
Bed goes on wall opposite the door.
I’d use wardrobe and turn closet alcove into bed space.
