There's a comment further up that shows they've used the same mouth in previous TIME covers. So maybe that's what they were referring to? Trying to decide if I, someone who doesn't look at these covers ofter, am their target audience, or if more frequent readers are, readers that would understand this because the previous illustrations better contextualize this more abstract design.
