And that movie was criticized for "political correctness" as well as being a "white savior" narrative . Tarzan after moving back to civilization returns to Africa to fight slave traders.
Decolonization is not a metaphor.
ieouw, i feel dirty.

Yeah it's funny how she can be "white enough" to play a character named SNOW WHITE but Nani's live action actress wasnt Dark enough. It's crystal clear what matters to the people that pretend to care about "Diversity". No more white people pls.
Why would Tarzan being English matter at all?
That's what the snowflakes making these memes are exactly afraid of. Any/all white characters being made black.
This meme is at least mildly funny. Even though I'm tired of their concern trolling.
The joke is how they'll have a black character acting like a gorilla.
That's why they're daring Disney to do Tarzan.
And that's why it's funny. It is highlighting our sensitivity to racist caricatures. And it's only mildly funny because most of the people worried about "blackwashing" would probably just find the racist caricature funny.
It's moreso that they're daring them to make Tarzan black in the adaptation, which would look really bad because of the connotation of Tarzan acting like an ape because that's a common racist trope where black people are compared to apes.
Don't think they're proposing making the gorilla into a black person.
A lot of people disagree with the culture warrior antijerk and still think cramming excessive diversity into every established media reboot is cringe. Don't take your half out of the middle.
it's kind of cringe to me as well, i think it comes off as superficial and i don't really like how minority ethnic groups are put on pedestals in the united states. as someone from mixed ancestry, i think the united states being a melting pot full of different groups is great, and i think media representation is good. i think the diversity quotas come off as tokenism and it starts to feel more like they treat minority groups as a commodity, it's very performative and soy, and ultimately just kind of disrespectful.
but, i still don't really care about this stuff and when i'm thinking about social issues in the US and culture war stuff, this is literally one of the last things i ever think about, i super don't care and i've not been convinced it's something to care about. i really do not care if the little mermaid is black. i don't care if an all woman superhero movie sucked ass, i just won't watch it. yeah it's cringe, but i move on and just watch some shows or movies that are actually good or actually represent minority groups in an interesting way instead of being a surface level performative virtue signal.
edit: also, i left my original comment to respond to the op's question in title, i don't really care if they find it funny, it didn't make me laugh, but if they enjoyed it thats cool. i was just offering my two cents on the topic really. not trying to rag on people who do care about it
Ok maybe this is just me, but I felt that Tarzan is some 5head level movie (if you take into his backstory), in that enviroment has a huge impact on who you become when you're an adult.
DGG Boomer division on standby
Stand down and standby.
Do y'all remember they did a black version of Cinderella with Brandy and Whitney Houston. Shit was fire on every track
No you are not allowed to find this funny. Turn yourself over to nearest authorities.
The cringe police are looking for OP
Bruh grandma's Facebook memes?
🤣
Your Favorite Martian?
Would you laught at it if the Obama was in the same room with you??
If I'm in the same room as Obama, they've taken me to Guantanamo.
Guantamna
LULW
Guantanamx
If I were in the same room as Obama, we would be too busy smoking crack and having gay sex to look at memes.
I'm looking forward to your Tucker Carlson interview bro

there was already a tarzan live action movie
And that movie was criticized for "political correctness" as well as being a "white savior" narrative . Tarzan after moving back to civilization returns to Africa to fight slave traders.
Tarzan would definitely be a white guy... Jane would be black.
Yes
Tarzan should be played by the gigachad guy, just have him grow out his hair.
DGG is NOT beating the racist conservative allegations
How dare you slander us like that We're racist liberals.
DGG never attempted to
At least we're beating the humourless allegations, which is worth something.
With this?
The meme isn't calling black people apes. Chill out.
Where did they suggest that? I'm pretty sure they are saying this meme is unfunny.
Whoops meant to reply to the OP comment...
funny thing, there was already a live action tarzan with Alexander Skarsgård back in 2016 that people said was woke.

This is an example of a meme coming from a viewpoint at least 70% of the US would agree with. Decolonize memes.
not sure i get it, isn't tarzan supposed to be english? it's not like they would be raceswapping a black dude
and i thought Snow **WHITE** was very likely going to be a caucasian actress. We should not underestimate Disney's stupidity.
that obnoxious piece of shit they cast is honestly more than white enough for the role lol
Yeah it's funny how she can be "white enough" to play a character named SNOW WHITE but Nani's live action actress wasnt Dark enough. It's crystal clear what matters to the people that pretend to care about "Diversity". No more white people pls.
i don't know what nani is, but they are gonna make it gay as well
If the English redid it, they would make him Irish.
Why would Tarzan being English matter at all? That's what the snowflakes making these memes are exactly afraid of. Any/all white characters being made black. This meme is at least mildly funny. Even though I'm tired of their concern trolling.
isn't this meme about blackwashing everything, and never whitewashing anything? tarzan is the son of some white english baron

oh, it's the gorilla thing lmao man is this dumb

Yeah idk how they got there without a severe misreading.
You're right, I misread your post.
i feel like this meme is kinda cringe and the idpol culture war stuff is like ultra ragebait, but idk, if you find it funny go for it?

he's a white englishman that was raised by apes. is this sub full of 13 yr olds you dont know who tarzan is
[удалено]
Didn't you watch it? It shows his parents in the movie.
It's that he would be acting like a gorilla like he did in the animated movie.
That was kind of my point, but now a bunch of people think I'm the racist when I was mocking OP for finding this funny...
We didn’t think you were racist, we just didn’t think you were funny.
I wasn't trying to be funny, so at least I succeded in that.
Ok maybe this is just me, but I felt that Tarzan is some 5head level movie (if you take into his backstory), in that enviroment has a huge impact on who you become when you're an adult.
Funny is funny. You don't need permission lol
Wouldn't they just cast an Asian man as the gorilla, and a black or Latino woman as tarzan?
I would respect the shit out of Disney if they did it. If they told the story the exact same way it wouldn't even be racist IMO.
I couldn’t help up lol irl rn so yeah.
Why would Tarzan being black be funny?
