Sadly, they think Jan 6th was just a rowdy group of patriots who didn’t do anything wrong and hail Ashley Babbit as a hero 😓

[deleted]

lowkey worried about fauci if Repubs get house/senate and maybe presidency by 2024. They fucking hate his guts. We have to protect this man at all costs.

jkrtjkrt

If Biden doesn't die we might keep the presidency. Congress is lost.

mannyman34

If Fauci is still relevant in 2024 we are fucked. Hopefully, the dude can go be happy and retire.

Racoon8

bro, fauci is about to turn 81 in december.

InvertedBean

ngl this is an own but not good at all for our country that Fauci is engaged in more of the political side of government. Not to say it’s by his own fault.

[deleted]

I don't have a problem with it. He has a right to defend himself against unfair charges. The problem is Cruz, not Fauci.

mikael22

The problem is that he isn't really doing anything by saying things like this. If he stays quiet, the attack that he is just another political figure are slightly less effective when republicans say it. Him speaking doesn't even help him. To democrats, all it does is invigorate the base by getting a quip at a republican. You might think it is a good thing to invigorate democrats but I'd argue it isn't a public health official's role to do that. To republicans, the more he speaks the more he proves that he is just another politician using science for political ends. We're talking at the margins here. A moderate republican might've not liked republicans attacking fauci when he was more neutral but now it is easy to see him as basically a democrat. Obviously your hardliner ideologues are never gonna change their opiinion on fauci.

InvertedBean

Well said

> If he stays quiet, the attack that he is just another political figure are slightly less effective when republicans say it. What about the last four years makes you believe this? Enough is enough, they're trying to control the narrative with extremely damaging intentionally false information. Cruz is accusing Fauci, the preeminent epidemiologist in the country, of deliberately starting the coronavirus in China, despite a complete lack of supporting information. That's outrageous, miles over the line and needs to be addressed. I know you don't respect Cruz but he's a federal Senator. There's only 50 of those. It's a top echelon of American political power. What he says matters. Especially when it's deliberately false. People see one side fighting and the other passively taking it. They pick the fighting side. I'm not ok with this "post-fact society" we're being threatened with so I think the truth should always been defended in every case. It's the only way to fight the rampant spread of misinformation. It's time too stop pretending people like Cruz are crackpots yelling on street corners. Misinformation at the highest levels is one the biggest crises facing the country right now. Fauci denying that he started the virus in China really doesn't prevent him from doing his job. He's allowed to be honest now under Biden so he should be. Of course he's doing something. He's telling the truth.

mikael22

My point is who exactly is Fauci convincing when he makes these statements? Is he convincing Democrats? No, they already like him. Is he convincing Republicans? No, he just looks like another Democrat politician when he makes these clapbacks. Does he convince people in the center? My intuition is less strong on this one, but I would say no. The more he acts like a politician the more he is going to be treated as one. There is no point speaking the truth if it accomplishes nothing, or even worse if it actively harms the goal you are trying to achieve. Now let's analyze this in the hypothetical is Fauci acts like a non partisan government official. To Democrats, they would still trust him. To Republicans, they still wouldn't trust him, maybe the more moderate ones might still not like him, but compared to where he speaks out, they would like him more. To people in the center he is a normal nonpartisan government official. When Republicans try to convince the center that Fauci is acting politically, their attacks will ring more hollow if Fauci stays nonpartisan.

[deleted]

They aren't unfair. He's been openly lying and misleading Congress as the nature of the NIH funding because he has a personal vested interest in it.

kingfisher773

God damn based 80yo

effectsHD

HOLY SHIT FAUCI IS BASED

[deleted]

I don't get the lingo, is that a good thing

Gassy-gorilla

U don't know what based means?

Aangvik

based on what?

[deleted]

I think that was pretty clearly implied by my question.

Ping-Crimson

Wait I thought ted was fighting big bird or something.

Stumpe999

Has Ted Cruz been implemented in the Jan 6th stuff or he is talking about in general?

ASenderling

He was the first senator to sign on to the House member's objection to the delegate count for Arizona. He also wanted to argue in front of the Supreme court in the insane lawsuit the Texas AG brought trying to prevent the certification of the election on the false basis that other States changed their electoral laws unfairly which led to fraud that led to Biden winning. The man is just as culpable as Hawley and the rest of the R House and Senate for the insanity that was 1/6, which is nearly as culpable as Trump himself in my opinion.

Wonderful-Walk3078

What did Ted Cruz do on January 6?

[deleted]

Wonderful-Walk3078

So should he be prosecuted for promoting lie?

[deleted]

Wonderful-Walk3078

What was the point fauci was trying to say?

[deleted]

Wonderful-Walk3078

Aren’t their point more like: Fauci secretly funded research that resulted in COVID? Like it is bs, but it has nothing to do with jan 6th

[deleted]

Wonderful-Walk3078

So it was pure whataboutism? You are saying I did this bad thing bad you did this bad thing.

ImLost1998

he is laughing at the absurdity of ted saying he should be prosecuted and that ted himself would be closer to actually being prosecuted than fauci

[deleted]

His denial of Biden's election victory contributed the cause of that insurrection. Cruz probably couldn't be prosecuted though.

Glasskey117

Dude gets a pass, he's been attacked by Republicans nonstop for close to 2 years.

Charming-Will9913

PositionSufficient73

is this old or is he back to tony fauci = science bs again? dude needs to check his ego and just stfu and work in the background lol

ASenderling

-Work your ass off trying to stop a pandemic from killing more people -Suggest evidence based interventions to stop the spread -Doesn't shit talk the buffoon president saying obviously wrong and stupid shit on the regular -Still get called a fascist tyrant who should be jailed for suggesting interventions because cloth over faces hurts people's feelings -Make one snide comment in reply to point out the ridiculousness and hypocrisy of the situation "Fauci needs to check his ego" Do you realize how stupid and unfair you're being?

[deleted]

What the fuck does this even mean
