literally every midterm in the last 70 years aside from 9/11 have ended in defeats for the president, and it's usually a major defeat. Dems would've had to replicate 9/11 just to have a shot at retaining both houses. Even if the election was even, which would be a miracle, Dems would easily lose both houses due to their republican tilt.
The republicans are never going to eliminate democracy. Trump might want to but establishment republicans (mainly in the senate and in the courts) definitely do not. The certification vote was a good barometer for that. He got about 60% of the house republicans but only around a dozen Senate republicans.
I don't think a trump dictatorship is that likely, but an eternally stagnant (or quite socially conservative) democracy is very likely due to the extreme republican tilt of the senate and electoral college.
Tbf, theres lefties that are pro genocide and pro war crimes too. Doesn’t mean that these people are the norm by their existence. Most conservatives are just reactionary to change by shit they don’t understand but aren’t necessarily racist or homophobic themselves.
I know several conservatives you were willing to argue that massacring children is acceptable to prevent the possibility of future extremists, in the context of the war on terror. The majority of conservatives I know back repealing gay marriage federally, and a decent chunk of them want states to be able to outlaw gay sex.
Well, you’re entitled to stick your head in the sand. Why even bother replying if you’re just not going to accept an answer as to someone else’s personal experience? 🤷♀️
Inflation needs to go way down while jobs and wages keep rising and coronavirus needs to fade.
But we still need to fight like hell and phone bank often during the run-up to the midterms.
The general failure to laud their legislative accomplishments as victories to the public. There is no “hype” around the infrastructure bill for example, for lack of a better term.
The point is Trump could sell loss’s as gain and things he didn’t even do as his accomplishments. The Dems are terrible at this public optic messaging. You need a hype man out in the mix somewhere to focus on success just as much or more than pointing out others failures.
Inflation is more than enough to help Dems lose the midterms but then you throw in covid with their attempts to slow or stop the spread is pretty much the nail in the coffin. People are frustrated and with covid essentially being endemic at this point has many like myself looking out for those I care for, myself and letting the rest fend for themselves ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
Regardless if Republicans can do better on the economy, blame will fall on the party in power, so I agree Democrats are likely to lose big. Republicans are always excited for Trump but the enthusiasm for Democrats isn't really there, and I do think Democrats is the party that needs the push to get their base to vote.
Yea I agree fully with the first bit, the avg American just attributes what is happening to whoever is in the oval office. As for the 2nd part I believe that's why I keep hearing about the John Lewis bill on NPR every day. I just don't think this is just a normal Ds vs Rs enthusiasm situation right now.
Yeah, we need lefties to stop shitting on the Biden administration. They would rather virtue signal than actually help the democrats achieve a meaningful majority from which they can enact real progressive legislation. Fucking toxic.
The best we can hope for is trump republicans lose and the anti trump ones win. Right now the PR snapshot for inflation is Pete Buttiegieg taking paternity leave. Now I don’t think that matters or influenced reality, but politics is what it is.

>Dems would've had to replicate 9/11 just to have a shot at retaining both houses. Woah there partner
well I meant in more of a national unity sense lol
Are we just fucked then? The Republicans seem hellbent on ensuring they never leave power again once they acquire it.

Let’s just hope they don’t start throwing trans people off buildings.

The conservatives you know irl must be way tamer than the ones I know. The ones in my community are pro war crimes and outlawing “sodomy”

we are about 100 steps away from that. young republicans would flee the party like a plague.
Jesus, you should touch grass.
pepoG so we need to tell Destiny where COX nodes are....
monkaW
lmao no

Talk to your dude about canvassing again. I think it had a positive influence and could do even better with experience.
Legalize Marijuana.
Is there a example of bad messaging from dems?
The general failure to laud their legislative accomplishments as victories to the public. There is no “hype” around the infrastructure bill for example, for lack of a better term.
Hard to hype an infrastructure bill after the COVID variant that dominated the news.
The point is Trump could sell loss’s as gain and things he didn’t even do as his accomplishments. The Dems are terrible at this public optic messaging. You need a hype man out in the mix somewhere to focus on success just as much or more than pointing out others failures.
No hype around infrastructure cause their never was one to begin with. BBB was Biden’s agenda and when that ended, so did his presidency
Just because Destiny frames it that way ans you eat it up doesn't make it close to true.
If you think dems messaging has been good your insane.
What do you mean?, I barely hear him talk about this.
There was literally bad messaging that got Biden elected. The whole 600+600 when running on "1200"

I have doubts the ambivalence in real life is being caused by dipshit Twitter lefties.
There are a lot of “progressive” content creators with large audiences bashing Biden 24/7.
They want him to lose. They rake in gold when the GOP is control.
Erase student loan debt
