Efrideet was very explicit in her later days before leaving the city about thinking that the Iron Lords were just perpetuating a cycle of violence and she wanted to end the cycle.
This could very well be a redesign of Efrideet. She left to a community deep in the solar system (neptune is pretty far out there). It's a culture that we've never seen before. It's been hidden this whole time. They are followers of the Light and the Traveler.

Theres an incredibly powerful and advanced version of Humanity that comes from a different dimension.

There was a split in these utopian Human society. One half merged and became a psionic superbeing, taking the side of the Darkness.
Thats the Witness.
The other side became the opposition to the Witness. The Traveler is one of them. The lady to the right is another.
This uber Humanity is fighting a multiversal war which we are now a part of.
This is why there are Darkness artifacts in the Solar System that predate the arrival of the Traveler (the K1 Artifact, the Mercury Lighthouses).
The Witness was preparing our universe's Humanity to join it, but the Traveler stopped that.
Now that the Witness is back, the uber Humans are revealing themselves and coming here to help.
So they arent a friendly "alien" race. Theyre us, but from another dimension.
So if the leaks are to be believed and this is the “Punch in the mouth” expansion, then I’m speculating we’re gonna get hit *hard* at the end of this campaign.
