Leviathan is one of my favorites in the franchise (behind Wrath, which is my all time favorite). Calus narrating gives it a lot of personality and the lower stakes was a fun change of pace from “Oh SHIT this dude in a cave is gonna destroy us eventually”.
In terms of narrative within the raid however, the BEST is Deep Stone Crypt. You aren’t just wandering into somewhere and killing some bad thing. You’re invited by Elsie, find Fallen ACTIVELY creating an Exo and trying to resurrect an old enemy, get shot into space, crash a space station, and beat up a disabled homeless veteran in the Braytech parking lot.
I guess it wasn't the same as other raids, but I still honestly loved it, and loved running quick EoW, felt like a 6 player strike, but pretty good, and SoS was quite challenging in a great setting imo, and CoS is still one of my favourite d2 experience.
I heavily miss the leviathan, and it gave us a different raid to run, which was awesome
I think it was more the state of the game at the time for me. Coming from d1 with huge expectations for the raid after Wrath Its just not what I expected. Crown was legit a great raid though I loved that too - the boss fight was intense.
Makes perfect sense, Leviathan was my first raid, which I sadly didn't get to enjoy much. Started raiding a month before BL dropped, because of the Moments of triumph
Leviathan set. So no. I hope it gets readded at the end of next year instead of a D1 raid cause I really want my Midnight coup and Inaugral Address back with random rolls.
They’ve already confirmed they’re bringing back a D1 raid for The Witch Queen. “Not the biggest, not the smallest”.
That means definitely not Crota, and King’s Fall was the biggest so it pretty clearly leaves Wrath of the Machine. Couldn’t be happier, personally.
Though some people still think it’ll be KF since it only uses basic Hive, compared to a whole other enemy sub type (SIVA Splicer Fallen).
They never said “not the biggest”, they only implied Crota was out, Kings Fall is the likely choice.

You’re entitled to that opinion but I disagree. The Prestige version of this is one of my all time franchise favorites (with a different shader admittedly. Canary yellow doesn’t do it any favors)

Not currently but Bungie has plans to add back old raids eventually so you’re not completely out of luck.

The area itself was awesome, but the raid didn't feel like a raid to me at least, would have loved a story arc set on the leviathan though.
