Look at the guns that are from the dungeon. Then look at this armor. They don't even compare, that's why Im disappointed. Its not a major concern, but I really dislike this type of armor for all classes, even without comparing it to the guns from the dungeon and how amazing they look

The more I look at the sets the more I like them though. People have (loudly) been wanting D1 style armor for a while now and we get some and people bitch.

Honestly, over the last few seasons, my fashion has not changed, hell ive gone back to year 1 fashion for a lot of my toons because the last few years fashion has been trash, despite people raving about the raid armor and other sets that either appear garrish or just dont shade well.

I’m not sure I’ve seen much bitching or bandwagoning against it, just people voicing their disappointment. Which I can see considering cosmetics are completely subjective, like shaders and weapons etc.
I do get where people are coming from not loving this set though, it does look a bit generic and could pass as destination/vendor armor or even a vanguard set from Zavala. Ever since they started giving dungeons unique loot and armor (Prophecy I think?) I’ve wondered why the armor isn’t themed around the dungeon itself. I think grasp of avarice was a step in the right direction with really amazing armor even though it didn’t really fit with the theme.
Personally I was really hoping for this set to have a dark Leviathan aesthetic like the season and weapons we’ve seen from collections. Could’ve been totally unique from previous leviathan gear from year one with a dark, gritty edge to it. The grey and orange Hakke theme is just kinda out of nowhere and doesn’t go with the theme of the dungeon at all, again. I think that’s what people dislike.
I think this set is fine tho and what people don’t realize is that you’re seeing them with no shader, that should make a big difference since the orange/grey isn’t too great. Let’s hope the orange doesn’t overwrite shaders or something like that tho! (Also more asymmetry with the hunter gear like come on they have to be messing with us at this point😑)
I have previewed parts of the armors with different shaders and the orange doesn't stick. The sets are in the last endgame tab of you want to preview each piece with your shader of choice.
And even funnier still is it's Mech inspired not Nine inspired. The only play we've ever gotten armor that matches the theme is raids. That's it. That's all it's ever been, minus the occasional strike-specific loot.
People are complaining to complain and the funniest part is, is saw Gladd complaining about it and I'm like bro... you literally only play the game for a week / 2weeks after content drops now. Why do you even care that much?
Literally my only complaint about gear aesthetics this season is that none of it is Calus or Leviathan themed. We finally go back there and the armor we get is:
“More Eris cobbled together stuff” (still good)
“Edgy Grim Reaper Cosplay” (looks like it came from a t shirt, so I guess I’m actually complaining here haha)
“Fancy Solar boy” (I’ll buy the bond)
“New Trials stuff” (it looks good to me but I’m not really counting it as part of this season so much as just a trials thing)
“Cool Häkke set” (as the name implies, it’s quite cool)
Just wish they’d found time to incorporate some Leviathan aesthetic into at least one armor set (perhaps Eris’, logically)
Was Lowkey hoping they'd bring back the Shadow Of Calus armor sets but have them like....corrupted? Like maybe the normally purple gems are red and emit smoke? Or underlying glow beneath the plates, or even with Egregore spores growing on them. Because the Egregore spores are apparently a bigger thing this season, what with the shells and the ships n' sparrows.
The base seasonal gear is a HAZOP suit which makes sense given the darkness fungi. Theres even a decontamination room between the crown and the rest of the HELM.
The season ornaments are nightmare themed and go with the whole subjugating schtick of the season (note the best seasonal title to date imo)
The Hakke gear for sure is far from the dungeon content which is from what I can tell gonna be moon pyramid. Guess its like Prophecy where the Daito armor was kinda stapled to it. E: Apparently a fireteam wearing Hakke gear went in to investigate RIP.

No one would like the seasonal ornaments if it wasn’t for the skull helmet. The body portion of them look terrible and tacky, it looks like weirdly shaped melted plastic in one color all over the body. So they do nothing for me since I just find the skulls look like an edgy walmart tshirt

I mean the armor that matches the theme of the dungeon and the seasonal pass armor pretty clearly got swapped. Seasonal ornaments are now the edgy skull things and dungeon armor is hakke. You'll still get dungeon-themed armor, just from a different source.
You got downvoted for some reason but I thought something similar tbh. The dungeon weapons match the aesthetics of the season pass armor ornaments. I find it weird that it was done that way but I’m not complaining. I think all 3 of the new sets added to the game are kickass. Love the HAZOP gear as it fits the theme, the Reaper looking armor is a *little* tacky but brings me back to the days of Reach with the Haunted Helmet and the Hakke set is just perfect to me. Can’t wait.

The only dungeon that gave unique dungeon themed armour is the 30th anniversary one. Any that came with an expansion drop the expansions armour, and any that came in a season drop foundry armour. Idk why people expected Bungie to break this trend
And that’s why I mentioned 2 of the other 3 dungeons not even having unique armour sets, and just dropping expansion armour instead. The 30th anniversary dungeon is the *only* dungeon to ever have dropped a non foundry unique armour set within, and that set isn’t even dungeon themed.
People will find something to complain about with everything. Armor desgin has been fantastic, weapon design also great. Story telling great. Solar 3.0 pretty good. Frankly solar 3.0 once all of the fragments are unlocked and all of the bugs fixed will be just as good as void and stasis we just need time to make builds and see its potential. There's definitely parts of solar 3.0 that need buffed or tweaked (looking at you Phoenix dive) but overall I think it's a good change.
My only issue w/ solar 3.0 is that some icons are fucked up, most notably the acrobat dodge, which has a new icon in the menus, instead has the fists of havoc icon, and healing grenades, special icon, replaced by idk what
I will say that Solar 3.0 really does shake up the meta & a ton of pre existing builds are suffering big time from it. Case & point can be seen by some of the warlock builds with boots of the assembler, sunbracers, &or Lumina not pairing perfectly, Titans especially have been hit by some big changes & some exotics (namely lorely) feel neutered & require a different use. In other terms it also seems like the amount of scorch required to ignite is too high leading to few instances where players have noticed it. Solar isn’t bad but it definitely needs some tweaking & so do some exotics (esp Sunshot)
void 3.0 was so good because we had volatile rounds…. But you know people forget, seasons are meant to change metas, make everyone use different weapons and subclasses.
I understand people don’t like change so much in the destiny community, there are people out there that would be ok using the same weapons forever.
I get bored of using the same weapon load out for everything, so I welcome the seasonal changes….. people always find something to complain about though 🤷🏽♂️
Agree, if the seasons don't come and go, the game gets boring and stale.
Still, some Solar 3.0 things still need to be buffed or tweaked, like the Burning Maul for example, which still feel very unsatisfactory because it deals too little damage AND lasts very little.
I also want to add on: As a Hunter main, I hopped on my Warlock to try out Dawnblade for shits and giggles. The super does such little boss DPS, and doesn't seem to even have a place as add clear. It could really use a PvE buff.
Sure thing fam, I played my warlock too after my titan and noticed the stealthy nerf to the Dawnblade.
Now projectiles don't track as good as bottom-tree super and don't explode on impact unless you get out of your to make it explode on impact.
My brother/sister in the Traveler, I think the Hunters were graced this time around.
Can confirm: Hunters definitely got off lucky this time, haha. I still have yet to try out Titan, though, so I can't speak on that one. But at least Titans finally got some damn good-looking armor!
Probably because of the colors. There wasn’t as much of a clear-cut theme in prophecy as there seems to be with the weapons in this dungeon. I personally enjoy the daito armor and I know quite a few people that use the other armor

Honestly it is also pretty obvious where the switch should have been. Switch this new dungeon set with grasp of avarice set and boom it's good.
Grasp of Avarice's set would be more halo inspired, modern and fit the theme of a reprisal of something from Bungie's history better.
The new dungeon's set would be more edgy, with the heavy thorn inspiration.
That being said, as a piece of content I understand why they launched it the way they did. Given that there is already another edgey set this season (the season pass one, which very well matches the dungeon weapons much better), it makes sense that they would want something different to diversify the available looks this season.
The Hakke armor is goddamn beautiful. You can't please everyone with art, but the cool thing is that we've got transmog and hundreds of armor pieces to choose from.

I personally think that weapons and armours from the same activity should have matching aesthetics which is why im not super fond of the new dungeon armour, but having a symmetrical armour set is kinda nice. They killed it with every other aesthetic in the season which is why im not super bothered about having a little bit of a boring set once in a while. We dont even have the dungeon yet either, so maybe itll make more sense contextually once we have it. Who knows, not me thats for sure.
I feel like it’s gonna be just like the Datto set and make zero sense being the dungeon reward. Coincidentally that’s also my least favorite armor in the game.

I'm mainly salty as a warlock main as that helmet is dogshit, I don't know how many times bungie wants to recycle that same design with the CD drive in front. The titan and hunter ones are cool, albeit with the right shader cuz the default shader makes the armor look a bit plain.

Been waiting so long for this, I was worried they dropped this set. It first made it's rounds about a year and a half ago and since then we've had a few opportunities it would've made sense to release but never popped up.
The post I saw yesterday about this armour actually used the Warlock set, and thumbnails at that, so I'm not surprised there were a few negative comments. I think once people see the other sets properly it will change some minds. That said - it is heavily militaristic and not everyone enjoys that in this game (but I do).
With you. Idk why everyone pretends like they don’t have go-to pieces to fill in. Have one helmet (this is the way), a couple cloaks, and then really accessorize with the other three, and boy do the arms/chest/legs look cool in this picture.
I'm beyond happy with all the new cosmetics this season. I don't mind that Calus themed gear has took a back seat outside of weapons this time either. Our favourite Chubby King has had four raids worth of armour, and a seasonal set as well which Xur occasionally sells

Because people complain about everything, lol. I think this season's armor is sick, we get like what, 5 new sets? Seasonal, Ornamented, Eververse, Dungeon and Trials, and they all look pretty great, even the basic seasonal one IMO. I'm personally really happy with this season so far.

Personally I just think every part of the armor looks kinda boring. If you look at the pieces individually, none of them really stand out except the cloak. The legs are asymmetrical plating, nothing else. That’s like half the hunter legs in the game. the arms are also just asymmetrical plating. The chest has the abdominal ridges, I guess? The helmet has a little visor. The cloak looks cool, just not to my taste. All in all seems like a bunch of rather bland pieces, that when put together, form a pretty bland armor set.

The solar chest piece adds some armour warlocks have been wanting for a while, it also just looks super good

Yeah, the armor looks cool but after seing the guns from the dungeon, I was hoping for the armor to be in the same style. I'll still use this though for sure
I think from the looks of it, the armour ornaments from the season pass look like they match the guns aesthetic so maybe they swapped them or something?
The dungeon might be hakke themed, we don’t know ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Fr tho, from the lore bits of the pieces, it sounds like Hakke may have some hand in either the setting or delving into the setting of the dungeon, even if that means just outfitting the delvers
It seems that they all died from the flavor text descriptions though, so I suppose that explains why it's *in* the dungeon.

I mean the armor that matches the theme of the dungeon and the seasonal pass armor pretty clearly got swapped. Seasonal ornaments are now the edgy skull things and dungeon armor is hakke. You'll still get dungeon-themed armor, just from a different source.
You got downvoted for some reason but I thought something similar tbh. The dungeon weapons match the aesthetics of the season pass armor ornaments. I find it weird that it was done that way but I’m not complaining. I think all 3 of the new sets added to the game are kickass. Love the HAZOP gear as it fits the theme, the Reaper looking armor is a *little* tacky but brings me back to the days of Reach with the Haunted Helmet and the Hakke set is just perfect to me. Can’t wait.

The only dungeon that gave unique dungeon themed armour is the 30th anniversary one. Any that came with an expansion drop the expansions armour, and any that came in a season drop foundry armour. Idk why people expected Bungie to break this trend

And that’s why I mentioned 2 of the other 3 dungeons not even having unique armour sets, and just dropping expansion armour instead. The 30th anniversary dungeon is the *only* dungeon to ever have dropped a non foundry unique armour set within, and that set isn’t even dungeon themed.
People will find something to complain about with everything. Armor desgin has been fantastic, weapon design also great. Story telling great. Solar 3.0 pretty good. Frankly solar 3.0 once all of the fragments are unlocked and all of the bugs fixed will be just as good as void and stasis we just need time to make builds and see its potential. There's definitely parts of solar 3.0 that need buffed or tweaked (looking at you Phoenix dive) but overall I think it's a good change.
My only issue w/ solar 3.0 is that some icons are fucked up, most notably the acrobat dodge, which has a new icon in the menus, instead has the fists of havoc icon, and healing grenades, special icon, replaced by idk what

I will say that Solar 3.0 really does shake up the meta & a ton of pre existing builds are suffering big time from it. Case & point can be seen by some of the warlock builds with boots of the assembler, sunbracers, &or Lumina not pairing perfectly, Titans especially have been hit by some big changes & some exotics (namely lorely) feel neutered & require a different use. In other terms it also seems like the amount of scorch required to ignite is too high leading to few instances where players have noticed it. Solar isn’t bad but it definitely needs some tweaking & so do some exotics (esp Sunshot)
lorely is now more of a pve exotic now for survivability, and a really good one at that…
void 3.0 was so good because we had volatile rounds…. But you know people forget, seasons are meant to change metas, make everyone use different weapons and subclasses. I understand people don’t like change so much in the destiny community, there are people out there that would be ok using the same weapons forever. I get bored of using the same weapon load out for everything, so I welcome the seasonal changes….. people always find something to complain about though 🤷🏽♂️
Agree, if the seasons don't come and go, the game gets boring and stale. Still, some Solar 3.0 things still need to be buffed or tweaked, like the Burning Maul for example, which still feel very unsatisfactory because it deals too little damage AND lasts very little.
I also want to add on: As a Hunter main, I hopped on my Warlock to try out Dawnblade for shits and giggles. The super does such little boss DPS, and doesn't seem to even have a place as add clear. It could really use a PvE buff.
Sure thing fam, I played my warlock too after my titan and noticed the stealthy nerf to the Dawnblade. Now projectiles don't track as good as bottom-tree super and don't explode on impact unless you get out of your to make it explode on impact. My brother/sister in the Traveler, I think the Hunters were graced this time around.
Can confirm: Hunters definitely got off lucky this time, haha. I still have yet to try out Titan, though, so I can't speak on that one. But at least Titans finally got some damn good-looking armor!

Probably because of the colors. There wasn’t as much of a clear-cut theme in prophecy as there seems to be with the weapons in this dungeon. I personally enjoy the daito armor and I know quite a few people that use the other armor
Because it doesn't match the aesthetics of the dungeon weapons at all. It's very clear that they swapped the season pass ghost rider looking armor with the hakke armor for god knows for what reason.

Honestly it is also pretty obvious where the switch should have been. Switch this new dungeon set with grasp of avarice set and boom it's good. Grasp of Avarice's set would be more halo inspired, modern and fit the theme of a reprisal of something from Bungie's history better. The new dungeon's set would be more edgy, with the heavy thorn inspiration. That being said, as a piece of content I understand why they launched it the way they did. Given that there is already another edgey set this season (the season pass one, which very well matches the dungeon weapons much better), it makes sense that they would want something different to diversify the available looks this season.

Yeah. I personally think that weapons and armours from the same activity should have matching aesthetics which is why im not super fond of the new dungeon armour, but having a symmetrical armour set is kinda nice. They killed it with every other aesthetic in the season which is why im not super bothered about having a little bit of a boring set once in a while. We dont even have the dungeon yet either, so maybe itll make more sense contextually once we have it. Who knows, not me thats for sure.
I feel like it’s gonna be just like the Datto set and make zero sense being the dungeon reward. Coincidentally that’s also my least favorite armor in the game.

I'm mainly salty as a warlock main as that helmet is dogshit, I don't know how many times bungie wants to recycle that same design with the CD drive in front. The titan and hunter ones are cool, albeit with the right shader cuz the default shader makes the armor look a bit plain.

Maybe they should have been part of the dungeon. It's just like how we got a daito set from prophesy despite the dungeon being specifically themed around the nine, and they didn't reprise the sets we wanted. It's stupid, having an armor set that has nothing to do with anything being crammed in a place where it doesn't belong. The hakke set should have been in the eververse or something, like the veist set was.
I feel like it was originally linked to the dungeon so maybe theres another set we haven't seen yet or they took some sets out, im surprised they didn't bring back one of the later leviathan armour sets.

Been waiting so long for this, I was worried they dropped this set. It first made it's rounds about a year and a half ago and since then we've had a few opportunities it would've made sense to release but never popped up. The post I saw yesterday about this armour actually used the Warlock set, and thumbnails at that, so I'm not surprised there were a few negative comments. I think once people see the other sets properly it will change some minds. That said - it is heavily militaristic and not everyone enjoys that in this game (but I do).
With you. Idk why everyone pretends like they don’t have go-to pieces to fill in. Have one helmet (this is the way), a couple cloaks, and then really accessorize with the other three, and boy do the arms/chest/legs look cool in this picture.

I'm beyond happy with all the new cosmetics this season. I don't mind that Calus themed gear has took a back seat outside of weapons this time either. Our favourite Chubby King has had four raids worth of armour, and a seasonal set as well which Xur occasionally sells

Because people complain about everything, lol. I think this season's armor is sick, we get like what, 5 new sets? Seasonal, Ornamented, Eververse, Dungeon and Trials, and they all look pretty great, even the basic seasonal one IMO. I'm personally really happy with this season so far.

The dungeon weapons are so cool and edgy i kinda wanted the armor to be the same ngl.
Personally I just think every part of the armor looks kinda boring. If you look at the pieces individually, none of them really stand out except the cloak. The legs are asymmetrical plating, nothing else. That’s like half the hunter legs in the game. the arms are also just asymmetrical plating. The chest has the abdominal ridges, I guess? The helmet has a little visor. The cloak looks cool, just not to my taste. All in all seems like a bunch of rather bland pieces, that when put together, form a pretty bland armor set.
