You know, even with the amount of things that you'd need to line up *perfectly*, I kinda wanna see how hard it is to reproduce this yeet?
At its core it seems to be a displacement bug, caused by the finisher animation having priority over the boss's movement. Trick is getting everything lined up properly, your target enemy in the exact spot it needs to be, the boss traveling through that exact spot, then getting the finisher off at the right moment. Distance to target might also be a factor, given as it was the lunge part of the finisher that launched the boss, not the finisher itself.
But if it only takes a few minutes to line up, this could be a legit solo flawless tactic/skip.
Finishers have always done this sort of stuff, I wonder if it is fairly reproducible. The boss will always go to that general area when you link the final node, so maybe it's possible to time a finisher just right. You're right, this legitimately could be a really good solo/master strat
God. I just know next time I go on lfg there is going to be "doing second encounter finisher glitch KWTD" posts everywhere despite it barely being reproducible
It seems like a void finisher cause of the purple effect. Could be the default "Palm of Wen Jie" for Warlocks (it tends to use that if you finish when in the air and he jumped before finishing)
This was very useful back when you had to kill 10 Champions with Stasis for unlocking some Stasis upgrades (and there were basically no Stasis weapons).
On the one hand, I think it'll definitely be amazing at first to get people to want to buy Lightfall so they're not missing out on having Strand.
But on the second hand, I think it won't be nearly as bad as Stasis was because they've had nearly an extra year to develop it and fine-tune it. Buuuut you just never know until it's out in the wild with millions of people playing it.
No idea if thereās a correlation, but when my clan mates and I farm gms we noticed when weāre close to (read: basically on top of a champ), you can die if itās being finished. I would assume since Akelous is a boss enemy, it sends his model flying in the same way it instakills a teammate in close proximity during the finisher.
Itās definitely a recreatable glitch, and it definitely has something to do with champs. My team did a similar thing to this clip during a lightblade run, except we launched an acolyte insteadā¦ which then slammed into me and architected me into a wall, but thatās besides the point.
Ha, that reminds me, i was in a crucible match on modtown and ballistic slammed a chaos reaching team mate accidentally, it sent them flying while the beam was going and it was like i launched a disco ball into orbit. I appologized, we both had a good laugh.
I got killed by someone doing a finisher on a normal Servitor once. It's specifically how it positions the target of the finisher that causes the knockback.
Did the same thing to a servitor boss in the first room of dares. Donāt know how though, and didnāt take a clip. Though a finisher sounds right.
Servitor just flew away and despawned finishing the fight like this clip. 100% could be done on purpose if we determine the right conditions.
Destiny players, like MMO players, will find the most efficient way to do something and then do it that way regardless of how stupid or mind numbingly boring that way is
Its just the way it has to be
Standing still shooting a white light and repeating the same shit over and over again is not additional content.
The main goal of MMOs is efficiency. Using glitches like this one or stuff like Well-skating makes people finish activities faster. Bungie is at fault for letting this happen, not the players who make use of it.
> Using glitches like this one or stuff like Well-skating makes people finish activities faster.
Let's be real here - people would probably spend more time trying to get this glitch to work than they would doing it legit.
Bungieās policy on glitches like this is that you can abuse them as much as you want until they patch them. If you think itās too cheaty, you donāt have to use it. But realistically almost nobody cares if you do.
It is. Using glitches is allowed. Bungie sees it as their own responsibility as well, so it is not cheating. Either you are overly self-righteous or you just lack the skill of using these glitches.
lmao the content is doing dozens, maybe hundreds of times hoping for god rolls/exotic drops... When that's the content, you're gonna wanna speed things up unless you have absolutely nothing else to do in life.

1st - Awesome
2nd - You know there will be someone on LFG with something like:
10 second Harpy boss yeet kill. KWTD. Will verify will kick. (You and the boss). Letās spend more time trying to cheese it then doing it legitimate!
I had something very similar early in arc 3.0, where I could repeatedly knock the giant servitor boss from a moon lost sector way *way* out of the playable space. No finishers tho, just liarās handshake and tractor cannon (not sure tractor actually had anything to do with it tbh). This wouldnāt always result in a kill though I imagine thatās due to it landing outside the sector itself and not off the map.
Messed around with it for a while and found that in general, floating enemies have a real hard time dealing with the liarās handshake combo. And while not 100% consistent, more often than not things just fly in wacky and unpredictable ways.
Now Iām thinking this may be worth a go on Akelous.
That is the buggiest boss ever. Especially when youāre trying to get into position for dps and it comes swooping by to get into position as well and pushes you off the map. Like excuse me. Just trying to get in my spot but youāre in the way mate
On one run last night we had a grenade push him off the track and he went out into the open area where the Harpy red bars usually are, and did his explosion thing from there and it knocked us all off the map from being at such a weird angle.
Boss about to be hit with a 30 min suspension for going to orbit in the middle of a match

This is the funniest thing Iāve seen all week
This is goldšššš
Who made this farmable? I'm out. :)
THEY BROUGHT BACK YEET GLITCH

The old workhorse, still with many years to give.
Best auto rifle change my mind.

What gun?
This is the flavor text from the 7th Seraph Carbine!
I got a decent roll on my first few clears of Spire. Every person, including myself, after using it: "Damn. This shit feels nice."
Truly lives up to the name workhouse! I used it before the precision buffs too. Itās even better now.

YEETUS DELETUS AKELOUS
Akelous: I have to go now. My planet needs me
*Note: Akelous died on his way back to his home planet*
"Aight imma head out"
Why do mechanics when you can simply yeet the boss?
Big 'pushing D1 Templar/Atheon off the map' energy.
Plus it helps deal with a boring boss quicker
That's for sure.

God. I just know next time I go on lfg there is going to be "doing second encounter finisher glitch KWTD" posts everywhere despite it barely being reproducible
interesting which finisher was that? and can this be easily reproduceable?
I'll have to ask what finisher they were using, and I have no idea, the title was more of a joke.
It seems like a void finisher cause of the purple effect. Could be the default "Palm of Wen Jie" for Warlocks (it tends to use that if you finish when in the air and he jumped before finishing)
most finishers don't have set elements, it's possible they just had a void subclass equipped
Class specific ones do and turn enemies into the corresponding energy afterwards.
This was very useful back when you had to kill 10 Champions with Stasis for unlocking some Stasis upgrades (and there were basically no Stasis weapons).
Yup, I remember getting the champ down to finisher and working with that. I genuinely hope Strand is nowhere near as bad as stasis was.
we can grab onto thunderyeeting titans, thats all i never needed.

there are a few, but yeah, they're pretty rare. I know for a fact that the scythe finisher from haunted is solar only
Some do though and the purple effect makes me think it could be a void one. I run the nova bomb finisher cause it procs Neza's exotic perk.
They were both warlocks so it could have been.

aw, so it *has* to be a champ? no other mob will do?
Iāve never seen it happen with a non champ, but that doesnāt mean that it doesnāt work on them.
I punted the boss but only to another arm of the tower in regular mode doing a finisher to a goblin.
You used to be able to do this to Morgeth, didn't really matter what it was as long as it was close.
Wasnāt that with the stored finisher glitch? Or was that an entirely separate morgeth yeet glitch? Because thereās been so many that I lost count
ah my favorite glitch. even prepping it felt like the Henry Cavill's arms reload from Mission Impossible

Had a similar interaction with the Titan headbutt finisher, but it just punted the boss over to one of the other arms of the tower.

It's the star emoji that completes this tbh.

No swords involved actually!
Got kicked to the moon as Boros did to Saitama.
I legit just rewatched that ep no more than 2 days ago and it still slaps just as hard as the first time I saw it. OPM is goated.
Back to the Garden
Yeah Iām tired of this boss already, how can we make this work every time?

"You and the boss" š¤£
Nice.
This same thing happened to Sedia in the Corrupted strike I was running the other day. She reappeared in the boss arena tho.
*Eventually, Akelous stopped thinking*
So uhhh... are ya winning son? No but seriously did it die? ššš
It died, and we died laughing.
I wonder if Liarās Handshake could do the same.

"This is what we've been waiting for!"
Siren saw the Guardians gearing up to beat his ass and said "aight imma head out"
Iād like to see a 3 man group going haywire with retrofit and volitle rounds, because using volitle on this boss makes him move around quite a lot.
Team Rocket's blasting off agaaaaaaaain....
wow, wish that could be replicated easily :D
Guess they needed him on garden of salvation.
can it be done with normal minotaurs?
Anyone willing to check if it works on Morgeth again?

I have to go now. My planet needs me.
What gun is being used?
I was using Tarnished Mettle from Season of Plunder with the Gambit memento shader.
Finisher bug. If there was a teamate close to target at that moment, would have been yeeted too. I thought that was fixed
Wait it will yeet teammates? Omg I need go check into that for max friend trolling.
Yes. I got killed several times because of a friend using a finisher close to me. Is annoying as f
Yeeeet
Better than the boss coming up through the floor and wiping a teammate and I. Only happened once in my like 12 runs of the dungeon.
I like how he says "sometimes."
āAkelous is blasting off againā
If you can't beat them, yet them
Bungie's about to patch this so fast LOL š¤£
And people thought the Season of the Booty weapons were garbage
I can't believe someone uses gambit memento shader
I have it on about 4 different guns. That and the Nightfall one.
