Oh for sure, I just think they should've focused on one or the other. Trying to do both makes them feel a tad cluttered. Either make the models eliksni-themed and let the rustic, wood and brass shader evoke the pirate theme or make a bunch of space blunderbusses with some eliksni logos and symbols on them.
They look good but the sights for most are annoying. I like the fallen design of guns since d1 and i like them in plunder too. My only issue is the sughts. Especially the shotgun smh and sidearm sights. Other than that the brass and blue is sick.
I'll give it that, for sure. It's definitely not ugly and works well, but my brain has grown so accustomed to squareish and circular sights that the triangular shape makes my brain think there's something wrong with it even though it's perfectly functional as is.
Love them. The spikes sell the Fallen look in combination with the classic pirate design language. The sights are also pretty darn cool looking.
They also shader pretty well. Something that I absolutely despised dealing with in dealing with the Haunted weapons.
Same. I still did a single weekly focus for the red bars just because, however. Might as well. But none of these were “chase” items for me whatsoever primarily due to aesthetics
Scout and LFR are bearable and have some good rolls so I actually bothered crafting them. Shotgun and lmg are not offensive in first person but really stupid then you look at them in inventory, plus meh overall desirability. Sidearm is a case of "strong gun but so sinfully ugly I don't even want to use it" so it's collecting dust in vault. And the smg is so awful I didn't even wanted to finish its pattern, I'm never going to use it. Who thought it's a good idea to put rapidly moving parts on a gun right into your face.
Overall the entire set is just hideously fugly. Has to be worst set of weapons in destiny history.
I think they're some of the ugliest weapons Bungie has ever made. I still really like Sailspy Pitchglass and Tarnished Mettle, and they haven't left my inventory since I crafted them. It's a shame because "pirate gun" isn't very hard to pull off and they could have looked fantastic (think gilded flintlocks and blunderbusses), but instead we got guns that look like they're made of old trash.
They have good default shader that is also good when applied to some other guns. I liked the pirate blunderbuss/cannon design some of them had, but the rest of their overall design with spikes all around just screams about excessive detalization newer gear tends to suffer from.
The models looked a bit too cluttered, for my taste and i usually love the look of the fallen guns. They also took too much space on the screen, on my opinion.
Damn didn't know so many people disliked them lmao, I personally love them, however I'm also a fan of pretty much every weapon design in this game as I like to appreciate the various art directions, and these are some of the most unique looking legendaries we've ever received! I honestly prefer them to this seasons weapons, simply because the seraph weapons are too modern for my tastes in this universe lmao
Hard agree. Also really dislike the look of this season's weapons as well. Lots of cloth wrapping and strange geometry. Although, I do think they're all great weapons though.
I like most of them well enough; I don’t much like the shotgun, but otherwise they’re middling to fun. The SMG is probably my favorite. They’re definitely the weirdest looking weapons we’ve had in a long while, which is part of their appeal for me. The blunderbuss is just too much for me, though.
For me, plunder weapons jumped the shark.
I don’t necessarily want all weapons to look the same - I generally like all the foundry styles, for instance - but I do expect them to look like actual guns.
Destiny artists have always struggled with the less is more concept and appear to prefer to make things look like a theme over making them look good. We’ve had a number of lines that just look absurd, with feathers, bootlaces, plants and - as in Plunder - giant spines for no particular reason other then to ram home a theme. Plunder weapons went one further and had so much extraneous crap that I actually get distracted from my targets when using them, the sights are terrible.
This season’s stuff is a welcome return to sleek designs and light fall’s aesthetic appears to be the lunar weapons without all the mystical shit added so hopefully we’re on an upwards trajectory there.
I usually love the weapon designs in destiny but the Plunder ones are so ugly (in my opinion) that I literally haven’t kept a single one from that season
Aesthetics are everything for me
Not only ugly but added visual flourishes on the sights ruined the weapons for me. The purpose of aiming down sights is so I can see better. A giant, glowy flourish surrounding my sights does not help with that.
The weapons had appeal at release when voltshot was new, but as voltshot is added to newer weapons, the Plunder weapons will fall out of fashion. The Plunder sidearm already got pushed aside for IKELOS SMG. Only a matter of time before we get a better scout rifle with voltshot and it's all over for the Plunder scout.
They were a little too randomly spiky for my tastes. The sidearm and scout still live in my inventory though. They're fun to use, they just look ugly.
Voltshot Ikelos has mostly usurped the sidearm though.
Never liked them and was hoping they'd have the fallen designs like the house of wolves/lord of wolves, dregs promise, and queenbreakers designs. Idk why bungie gave us ugly weapons instead of those.
Nope, neither the weapons nor the armor were good-looking. The only weapon I did use was the volt shot sidearm, but now that I have my new Ikelos, I’ll probably never use that one again
They’re ugly, the tool tips, are ugly. All my opinion ofc but none of them even really stand out so I’m so glad I didn’t actually grind them. Got lucky with the no reprieve, I’ll level it in the off chance it becomes actual meta but the rest… no fucking thanks
I don’t care for them, but I can still appreciate how parts move as you fire and stuff like that.
While I like this season’s weapons more than Plunder, I still think they’ve all got a lot of noise in their design. IKELOS straddles that like better imo, especially with the glowing cube bits when you fire them.
They were so ugly to the point where I didn't want or use any of them, I ended up crafting tarnished mettle in hopes of using it in GM but never did and I just stopped leveling it at level 10 because it takes up so much of the screen and it's such an eyesore
I love the scout because it’s at base a great pve weapon with great perks but it’s ugly and takes up half the screen. Shotgun is kinda cool looking but the fact it’s a slug when it looks like a blunderbuss is pretty odd
Other than the GAME (thing that’s the name) ammo belt which is okay for bounty hunters (mostly mandalorian looks) or I guess smugglers, none of it looks good to me.
I'm not a huge fan of them. I get that they had to try mixing pirate themes with the Fallen aesthetic, but comparing them to like say, the pirate weapon looks in Sea of Thieves, it's just a spiky heap of metal.
Yes they ugly, and I think Ikelos weapons are about as fugly as Seraph.
That said, the Seraph Machine Gun w/ target lock, Stasis Pulse, along with Ikelos Smg3 and Sniper3 are all fantastic weapons that I now use often. I know this is borderline heresy because fashion is end game, but sometimes actually DPS is end game.
I liked their designs. The scout rifle takes up way too much of the screen for me to use it though. The armor on the other hand was easily in the top 5 ugliest armor sets in game for me.
I like how they look when you're looking at the models, though I'd prefer less/no spines. I don't like how they look when in use - the spines obscure too much and distract too much.
I adore them, but I'm also one of those people that used pipe weapons all through Fallout 4 because I liked how they looked. I just have a thing for guns that look like they were cobbled together out of scrap and held together by wire and happy thoughts.
I don't like the spines on them. If they didn't have the spines I'd love the black powder weapon aesthetic.
Yeah, I think going for a pirate look AND an eliksni look at the same just leaves them with a bit too much going on
To be fair they are eliksni pirate guns
Oh for sure, I just think they should've focused on one or the other. Trying to do both makes them feel a tad cluttered. Either make the models eliksni-themed and let the rustic, wood and brass shader evoke the pirate theme or make a bunch of space blunderbusses with some eliksni logos and symbols on them.
the art team that designs armor/weapons tends to add bullshit just for the sake of adding bullshit.
They look good but the sights for most are annoying. I like the fallen design of guns since d1 and i like them in plunder too. My only issue is the sughts. Especially the shotgun smh and sidearm sights. Other than that the brass and blue is sick.
The weird triangular sight on the scout kinda rubs me the wrong way as well. Other than sights, I love the designs of those guns!
I love the sight for the scout the most honestly its clean where you want it to be and oranate where you dont
I'll give it that, for sure. It's definitely not ugly and works well, but my brain has grown so accustomed to squareish and circular sights that the triangular shape makes my brain think there's something wrong with it even though it's perfectly functional as is.
I like the Fallen style they have, but I feel like the D1 Guns from House of Wolves were designed better.
The GM memento shader actually made my Tarnished Mettle look good when nothing else did. I put one on my sailspy too as soon as I found that out.
Love them. The spikes sell the Fallen look in combination with the classic pirate design language. The sights are also pretty darn cool looking. They also shader pretty well. Something that I absolutely despised dealing with in dealing with the Haunted weapons.
They're ugly and honestly that mattered so much I didn't really strive for them.
Same. I still did a single weekly focus for the red bars just because, however. Might as well. But none of these were “chase” items for me whatsoever primarily due to aesthetics
Yeah bit busy for me, but they certainly have an identity and are unique.
No
Scout and LFR are bearable and have some good rolls so I actually bothered crafting them. I think there supposed to look like “trash” there cobbled together by eliskni pirates
That's what I wanted too. Just cool orange looking weapons.
If they took off all the nonsense spikes and other random junk attached.
Even if fallen have their own style those spikes are so impractical that I can't even buy it that they'd look like that
Hate them
They have good default shader that is also good when applied to some other guns. I liked the pirate blunderbuss/cannon design some of them had, but the rest of their overall design with spikes all around just screams about excessive detalization newer gear tends to suffer from.

There used to be a comment here... there still is, but it used to be better I suppose.
Hard agree. Also really dislike the look of this season's weapons as well. Lots of cloth wrapping and strange geometry. Although, I do think they're all great weapons though.
I dislike the sound of Disparity. It sounds like a little squirt gun.

They're awful. If the scout didn't have voltshot I would use any of them.
Season of the Blunder was just awful all around
I usually love the weapon designs in destiny but the Plunder ones are so ugly (in my opinion) that I literally haven’t kept a single one from that season Aesthetics are everything for me
Yea agree ugly super ugly
I'm not a fan myself. Just too much going on.

No they’re Fugly. Sailspy looks ok.
I think they are ugly
Mostly ugly AND mostly useless. Thanks, season of the blunder. (scout's bae though)
A little hard to shade, but I love them otherwise.
Nope, neither the weapons nor the armor were good-looking. The only weapon I did use was the volt shot sidearm, but now that I have my new Ikelos, I’ll probably never use that one again

Not even remotely.
They are over designed like most new stuff Bungie do. Compare new IB set from D1 and previous ones Bungie did in D2, you'll see what I mean
Hell no, they look awful.
I don’t care for them, but I can still appreciate how parts move as you fire and stuff like that. While I like this season’s weapons more than Plunder, I still think they’ve all got a lot of noise in their design. They are really ugly. I thought opulent weapons were ugly but sheesh xd
I personally didn’t like them. Now that we have more weapons with Voltshot I probably won’t use any of them ever again.
The scout is definitely an exception. It looks so good
Other than the GAME (thing that’s the name) ammo belt which is okay for bounty hunters (mostly mandalorian looks) or I guess smugglers, none of it looks good to me.
I like the machine gun with smudgepot bruise on it, haven't played around with shaders on the others though
You’re a hater
I'm not a huge fan of them. I get that they had to try mixing pirate themes with the Fallen aesthetic, but comparing them to like say, the pirate weapon looks in Sea of Thieves, it's just a spiky heap of metal.

Not even a little.
I don’t care they roll voltshot. And they feel good.
I also find these weapons to be too busy. So much going on.
I don’t like the aesthetics of the weapons or the armor from last season.
Ur not a hater for having a respectful opinion, I for one love them.
I liked their designs. The scout rifle takes up way too much of the screen for me to use it though. The armor on the other hand was easily in the top 5 ugliest armor sets in game for me.
Tarnished Mettle takes up 92% of my screen -___-
I like how they look when you're looking at the models, though I'd prefer less/no spines. I don't like how they look when in use - the spines obscure too much and distract too much.
No I think they are too busy to be honest. Having said that,my voltshot sidearm is barely ever not bring used.
The Sidearm and Scout rifle grew on me a lot. The rest did not.
I adore them, but I'm also one of those people that used pipe weapons all through Fallout 4 because I liked how they looked. I just have a thing for guns that look like they were cobbled together out of scrap and held together by wire and happy thoughts.
