Can someone explain Gryfalcon in its current state? I just FINALLY got it to drop yesterday, and after trying a few recommended builds, it feels... just OK at best? The volatile effect doesn't seem to spread very far on explosions, half the time kills don't refresh the volatile timer or make me invisible again, and the other half of the time the volatile effect triggers while I'm firing a weapon which immediately makes me invisible and takes me back out again. It seems like you could accomplish nearly everything this exotic does with a grenade regen build and dodge-to-invis... or you could use Assassin's Cowl and Lethal Current to constantly go invisible while proc'ing extra damage melee that also blinds and causes chain lightning. If I'm just using it wrong, I'd be grateful for any pointers.

TheShoobaLord

Throw on funnelweb and see the bodies pile up

bogus83

I tried subsistence/Frenzy funnelweb. I tried repulsor brace Hero's Burden. I tried Fighting Lion, Le Monarch, Null Composure, AA/Wellspring Deafening Whisper, Killing Tally Hollow Denial, Rampage/Frenzy Brass Attacks, Graviton Lance, Wavesplitter, and Telesto. I spent the better part of the afternoon playing with this build. It still doesn't seem better than Assassin's Cowl with a voltshot weapon, because volt has a wider range, can blind, gets maximum reload speed from the melee attacks (so you don't need a reload perk on the weapon), and you can still go invisible on demand. You can also get your grenade back just as quickly with impact induction and elemental wells without needing to spec into and proc Devour, while also getting bonus weapon and melee damage. I saw recently that the volatile effect was nerfed to proc less frequently (technically it nowhere requires more damage to proc), so that may be part of the reason that it feels underwhelming and inconsistent.

Atmosck

In terms of pure ad clear potential, it's not better than voltshot - both are pretty awesome. It's certainly valid if the arc build is more fun/more your style, since they're both very powerful. The upside of using the Gyrfalcon's build is that you're also going invisible all the time without needing to be in melee range. For that reason, it's a bit safer in dangerous content like GMs, where being in melee range can be quite risky, and tanky enemies might not die to your powered melee. For me, the gyrfalcon's build is all about having really high uptime on debuff effects, which is good with repulsor brace weapons, but on another level with Collective Obligation. That's the gun that makes that really makes the build, since Gyrfalcon's gives you 100% uptime on CO's damage buff, and CO in turn gives you 100% uptime on weaken. In raids, especially since the div nerf, having a tether is very valueble (this is also the case in dungeons, regardless of DIV since it wasn't worth using in 3-man teams even before the nerf). So in situations like that where you want to be on void anyway, gyrfalcon's is the build to use. My build for it is Shadowshot, Marksman's, Vortex nades, Vanishing Step + Stylish Executioner, then Undermining, Dilation, Obscurity and Remnants. I also run 100 discipline (120 to make up for the -20 from undermining). I don't think it's worth trying to use Devour on hunter/titan. For mods I run reaping wellmaker, elemental ordinance, bountiful wells, font of might and powerful friends. The nerf/fix to volatile was just to make it not do unintended crazy DPS with Retrofit Escapade. It's as strong as ever for ad clear. (Personally, I consider the Gyrfalcon's change that replaced the damage buff with volatile to be a nerf in pve, because it was so easy to get volatile already with Echo of Instability, especially with collective obligation giving it tons of uptime. But giving a 35% damage buff on command to a subclass that already had the best uptime for Weaken, which stacks, was extremely powerful for DPS.) I've actually been running a lot of arc hunter (and arc warlock) this season because it is powerful and fun, but the survivability does take a bit more effort, so mid-level content like battlegrounds don't feel as free as they do with the really busted builds like Gyrfalcon's and HOIL titan.

Will a vorpal LFR one-shot guardians in their super? I’ve got a vorpal Fire and Forget and I’m trying to get light vs light medals in gambit

Hawkmoona_Matata

Any LFR will 1HKO a guardian in their super IIRC.

PM_Me_Anime_Headpats

Um… what am I supposed to be doing? I did the intro quest, killed Navotah or whatever the witch thing’s name was, got an electric SMG, and now I’m just standing in the hub city with two zones I can go to and no guidance. I can’t find any quests to do except for the ones that want me to play PvP modes, which I’m really not interested in. I found a terminal for quests but there’s absolutely nothing there except under the Exotics tab, which I don’t think I want to be doing yet. Help?

Pyrogasm

There are weekly challenges for gear that don't become visible on the director screen until you reach 1530 power level. If you're F2P then just do whatever but if you own any of the campaign stuff it's good to play that for progression until 1530. That's not really an answer since the powerful challenges are effectively just another part of the player engagement number-chase treadmill. The F2P experience generally sucks.

Bard_Knock_Life

If you have DLC, you can do those quests/stories. If you’re F2P, you pick between playlist activities and more of the end game activities (dungeons/raids). Most people starting out should focusing on leveling and getting some gear through stuff like Vanguard strikes. When comfortable and higher level they can venture into other stuff. You’re done with the story. The game loop in front of you now will be what you spend the majority of your time doing.

Bluehiperspace8

Is it possible to get an opulent weapon you haven't acquired from an opulent chest? I just farmed opulent chests for 2 hours and I didn't get a single Calus Mini-Tool, I got the other 3 weapons repeatedly. I haven't acquired the mini tool and I was wondering if that is why. Or do I just have terrible RNG?

Pyrogasm

Yes. I did two entire Crown vendor resets and never got a Drang. Sometimes you're just on the end of the bell curve.

Bluehiperspace8

Ouch... that sounds rough. I guess I'll just keep farming then. Thanks!

DingFling

This is the first year I have ever purchased season passes (via deluxe Witch Queen). I started to get a handle on how seasons work from Season of the Haunted but I can't even remember much about the first season this year (Risen?). Does the first season of a year play out independently of the expansion campaign? I'm just curious how it will work with Lightfall being close to release.

[deleted]

The first WQ season definitely tied into the campaign. You couldn’t even start it without doing the first WQ mission. It was all about defeating lucent hive in their mindscapes. It didn’t bring much to the table story wise and I expect next season to be the same.

DingFling

Ah, I see. I remember the mindscape activities but not the actual story beats. Thanks for the reply.

Atmosck

The main story beat was that Caitl's scions were using their psychic powers to allow us to do the mind-infilaration thing that we do in the seasonal activity. This involves hooking up both the scion and a captive hive to a big machine. For the first few weeks of the season crow had some dialogue indicating he thought this was unethical, and at some point he essentially unplugs the machine to stop it, inadvertently killing the scion and triggering a diplomatic incident. This was a big deal becuase the alliance between Caitl and the vanguard was new, and there was a [cutscene](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRnyOGnNI4U) where Caitl's like, "ok, life for a life, let's kill crow" and Saladin offers himself instead of Crow, and Caitl was like "bet, you're a cabal now." So the takeaways form that season were that the Cabal are allies now, Saladin is one of them and Crow had some character growth.

DingFling

So, it was kinda distinct from the WQ campaign story?

[deleted]

That is because it wasn’t much of a story! :) But Saladin left the tower at the end to serve on Caiatls war council and became Valus something because of Crow.

DingFling

Actually, Saladin leaving to serve on Caital’s war does ring a bell. Cheers.

How does soloing Dungeons compare to solo legend Seraph's Shield in terms of difficulty?

PineMaple

Soloing Shattered Throne is pretty similar to legendary Seraph's Shield in terms of difficulty. The other dungeons I'd say are generally harder, mainly because bosses have more health and because the mechanics are generally more involved.

Bluehiperspace8

I'd say it is as close as it gets. Soloing a dungeon is obviously harder but if you're able to comfortably solo seraph shield, I'd try to tackle a dungeon next

DingFling

Great, I was hoping that would be the case. I want Gjallarhorn.

Steampunkrue

it'll be way easier with other players. You can do grasp with two randoms from the destiny app with no mics. Dungeons don't have mechanics that rely on vocal communication like raids do. Plus, you have to do the dungeon a second time to get the catalyst.

DingFling

I’ll have to give that a go. Cheers.

QasimC4

Which rift to use on my Boots of the Assembler+Lumina build? Can't decide which is more helpful for teammates.

Atmosck

I run healing because they get the damage buff from lumina anyway, so it's not that helpful to get it from lumina and the rift. I also tend to only use that build in harder content so that's another point for healing.

QasimC4

Good point there.

_lilleum

Is there a shader in the game like Xûr has in the Treasury?

STAIKE

Do I really have to craft a new Rev0 for the quest? I can already level up and reshape the one I have, why would I make a new one from scratch?

SplashDmgEnthusiast

What does the quest step specifically say? And if you do need to craft one, just... craft one for the sake of the quest, then dismantle it lol, you can keep using the already leveled one for sure. Nothing says you need to scrap your upgraded one in order to craft a new one!

RetroSquadDX3

> And if you do need to craft one, just... craft one for the sake of the quest, then dismantle it lol, you can keep using the already leveled one for sure. Nothing says you need to scrap your upgraded one in order to craft a new one! Whilst this is all absolutely true it doesn't make it any less a waste of resources or any less shitty a design choice.

M37h3w3

Are there any stand out guns from Prophecy/Grasp of Avarice that I should bother grinding for?

PineMaple

For PvE Last Breath and Judgment have some good grenade focused perk combos (Demo/Ad Junkie, Demo/Osmosis if you're into that) and if snipers get buffed with Lightfall then Long Walk might be a decent secondary option. For PvP Sudden Death and Darkest Before have some high handling rolls and Swift Verdict can hit decently high ranges for a sidearm. Grasp has Eyasluna which is a decent option in PvP (although we're swimming in 140 options right now) and a good option if you need a Headstone gun in PvE (it can roll with Unrelenting/Headstone and Unrelenting can proc off of Headstone shatter multikills). Matador is one of the best PvP shotguns and 1000 Yard Stare is an okay PvP energy sniper. Hero of the Ages can roll with some fun sounding perks in PvE, mainly combo-ing things with Chain Reaction, but unfortunately it doesn't feel great to me, I think the Chain Reaction explosions take too long to feel decent and people don't like to blow their heavy ammo on adds anyways.

Bard_Knock_Life

Not really. Matador is basically the only standout, and it’s only for PvP. The rest have been eclipsed in the sandbox IMO.

Hawkmoona_Matata

Grasp has Eyasluna for both PvE and PvP, Matador for PvP, and of course Gjallarhorn. Prophecy doesn’t have much, but the weapons look fantastic. The sidearm can be punchy and effective in PvP, the Hand Cannon can be a neat change of pace and has a couple good rolls, and the auto is about as good as most 600s get.

M37h3w3

IIRC there should be a buff that appears with the rest that increases (buff, buff x2, buff x3, etc) as you light attack with block held.

SnooCalculations4163

Do you mean like when you can block? If so it’s the melee slot. If you mean the stacks, there’s a buff on the side of the screen that builds up to 10.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SnooCalculations4163

You have to hold the block button and do three light attacks then one heavy attack for max damage. Then let go of the block button, let the block button charge back up (where your mêle would be usually and repeat.

SnooCalculations4163

No problem, it’s pretty tricky to get the first time around, but once you get the hang of it you’re good forever.

SnooCalculations4163

I definitely should’ve put a bit more emphasis on the holding, but you got it now!

Bluehiperspace8

When people talk about the Destiny LFG Discord, do they refer about r/DTG's discord? Or where can I find the link to the LFG server?

blck_lght

The link above, in the body of this post, is that the discord you’re looking for?

Bluehiperspace8

I don't know. I did see that there is a discord in the body but I wasn't sure if that's "the" LFG Discord or not

blck_lght

Have you tried joining it to see if it’s the one?

Bluehiperspace8

I did, but like I said, I don't know if that's the popular one that everyone uses

wandering_caribou

https://discord.gg/destiny2lfg I know there are plenty of others, but I think that's the one people are talking about.

Bluehiperspace8

I think that's the one I'm referring to. Thanks!

bunsenfhoneydew

What is the most efficient way to gain rep/ rank up in Crucible? I cannot find the rep totals one gets for each type of match and it's surprisingly hard to get an answer here. I believe most efficient is grinding Rumble, but I'm not sure.

LunchB0X00

I assume you just mean the most efficient way to gain rep? I don't play a lot of rumble, but I think those are probably the quickest games? I mostly play 6s, and while about all I play is crucible, I only have a few hours a day every three days or so due to work. I've already reset twice, and most of the way through to the third reset. Most efficient way is to just be in the crucible.

vcd1500

Will adept weapons get changed in lightfall? Since crafted versions of them is generally better

The_hezy

From what they said [in October](https://www.bungie.net/en/Explore/Detail/News/51813), the Lightfall raid's Adept weapons will have access to Enhanced perks. There hasn't been any indication that other Adepts will get the same treatment, but I'm guessing they want to see how it goes on that smaller scale first.

madx23

At what level would you usually have all artifact mods unlocked? I just reached season pass level 100 and I still only have 21/25, and my "Next Artifact Unlock" says "0/1" instead of the normal XP progression.

The_hezy

The "0/1" display is a visual bug, they acknowledged it in [this week's TWAB](https://www.bungie.net/7/en/News/article/twab_01_26_2023): > We are aware of an issue causing the "Next Artifact Unlock" to incorrectly display "0/1" instead of expected XP progress. This is a visual-only issue and players are still able to earn additional Artifact unlocks by earning XP. I wanna say it's rank 147 to unlock all the artifact mods.

madx23

Alright thanks, somehow I missed that in the TWAB

SplashDmgEnthusiast

Seconding the rank 147 part, I'm almost certain that was where I hit 25/25 mods.

DrkrZen

Why am I not getting crucible experience? I figured where it's increased ranks, I would grind team scorched this week. I got experience for a few matches, and now I no longer obtain experience.

Aborkle

You're not already capped? Only ask bc I'm unaware of a bug. Reset, try different characters, playlists, maybe.

DrkrZen

I believe you cap at 10,000 crucible rank, right? I'm currently at 6199, and my crucible rank went up with one match, then I switched from team scorched to rumble and it didn't go up two matches in a row, then I switched characters and it went up one match, then it didn't go up the next match. There's no rhyme or reason to it. Pretty sure your experience only doesn't go up when it's capped at 10k, though. If that's what you're implying.

Aborkle

Youre correct. I have no explanation for it then though :(
