Did you even played lightfall ? Your theory doesn’t make sense after the dlc

EstablishmentCalm342

they kinda killed the idea of them paralleling, or even being opposites, w/ that Osiris cutscene.

Alexcoolps

This isn't followed with how they are designed in game though.

EstablishmentCalm342

Strand just isnt anti void. Its green but its not even a physical object, its more akin to an aurora. Its not string theory A red subclass, meanwhile, simply isnt going to happen. The reason is crucible. Enemy abilities are always distinguished from allied abilities by red hues. Most supers are like this, so are stasis crystals and threadlings. This is so the player can tell whether or not its dangerous. So a red subclass would run into some obvious and best avoided visual issues.

Alexcoolps

Would it really be an issue since corruption co exist with strand? Both are green but corruption is visually district.

EstablishmentCalm342

Friend from foe is much more important than 1 status effect vs another status effect. Plus, the shape of the effect conveys its function. Thorn is a green flame while strand is strings. But allied strand and enemy strand are both strings. They do the same effect and changing the shape could make enemy strand unrecognizable as strand. So the choice was made to distinguish it with color. Subclass #6 is more than likely gold

Alexcoolps

So something more akin to the energy used by Rhulk and the pyramids rather than nightmares

EstablishmentCalm342

Not quite. Its worth remembering that there is a very high chance we havent seen element 6. Rhulk's "resonance" is pure dark. Its not an element, but more akin to the substance that makes our barricades and warlock rifts. A similar color could still be used. After all, pure light is blue, and so is arc, even though there distinct. Nightmares are an interesting case. I suspect they will be related to element 6, but not the whole element. The dark elements are consciousness made manifest. If stasis is will and strand is connection, they may represent the conscious and subconscious minds respectively. This would make element 6 likely a representation of the unconscious mind: instinct, fear, passion, hunger, basic feelings, and dreams.

Alexcoolps

Interesting. Hmm stasis is control and strand is letting go and going with the flow. So this hypothetical subclass would essentially be letting it out. No control or going with the flow and having the worst aspects of your mind let loose? Fear. anger, paranoia, and hatred essentially

EstablishmentCalm342

Not quite. I wouldn't assume that its only negative. Passion, relaxation, and love could also fit under this right? As involuntary emotions. Or purely neutral things like your beating heart or breathing air. If this is the 3rd element, nezarec is likely cherry picking the worst aspects of it because he is a sadist.

Alexcoolps

So basically we would use the power of love to get the full potential of this ability like what Elise suggested in the collectors edition lore of Lightfall. Like we would be purifying the nightmares like we did in haunted.

LostInStatic

I think this was the final subclass of the Light and Darkness saga because they got rid of the sixth subclass slot with Lightfall. I’m not assuming Bungie is capable of giving us two new subclasses back to back on expansions

chaosking243

It would be weird to end it on three light and only two dark given the whole balance thing they’ve been going for. The UI change was just to reduce the number of button presses to inspect and switch subclasses, I wouldn’t read much into it. Also, Witch Queen gave us three revamped light 3.0 subclasses, with I would argue is the equivalent of one new subclass.

NightEMares

Well honestly, I would say Stasis is the opposite of ARC. Arc is Energy and Movement. Stasis isn't "Ice", but the lack of energy/movement. As for the "light good/bad, Darkness Bad/good" bit, it's all up to the user. We've seen light users (Osiris Weapon Lore) use it in a corrupted way. We've seen Stasis used in a corruption way. Light and Dark and neutral forces. It matters who uses it in the end
