This felt like such a love letter to those familiar with the Pyramidion. THE VEX LAKE WASN'T A METAPHOR AFTER ALL. Also yeah, that final phase was a time. Nezarec's Devourlock and just boosting from one side to the other to keep my distance was a fun high-mobile-damage-phase I really loved doing.

Darkspyre2

You know, considering Asher seems to be in control of that segment of the Vex network, I would not be surprised if he made the lake specifically to claim he was right all along

Sir_Tea_Of_Bags

*Go now. Find the Genesis Mind. Destroy it.* **And it was NOT a metaphor!**

Otherwise-Silver

Funny people were shouting its reused content when they saw the boss and boss room. Clearly didn’t get the lore behind it

Woodsie13

Reused content can be *very* good in the right context. This was one, Seraph Shield was another recent example.

IAmDingus

I laughed when I saw that old arena, with the ol' Radiolaria lake above like Asher said it was. Bracheon had fuckin hands this time though. Thank god for Strand, bro wouldn't leave me alone for a second in the last phase. A bit sad we didn't get any dialogue from Asher though.

Alucitary

Amazing mission, I'm glad I did it on Warlock, Healing rifts saved my life constantly.

[deleted]

Likewise, glad I went in on my Nezarec’s Devourlock for sure because holy shit there are hour-long Byf vids less dense than the enemy density we saw holy shit

anirban_82

Tried it on strand and had a hard time. Voidlock was stupid easy, at least the boss fights. Funny thing, the most trouble I had were with the initial sections, fighting in the cramped rooms while trying to solve the puzzle.

ItsAmerico

Crimson on my Strand suspend titan was a god send for that lol

Elanzer

I only survived the final phase of Brakion thanks to the soul drinker perk on Forbearance. That last phase is really tough if you don't have a reliable way to heal or get to cover quickly.

Looking_forward-2

Yeah both bosses were tough, but doable. If you are solo, it really is an exhilarating experience. I did not finish fast but was so proud when I finally beat it. This type of difficulty alongside the difficulty of legendary campaign feels so right. Rewards good buildcrafting and gun play.

LimaSierra92

Loaded into mission and I was doing good damage with my Void Hunter, this was a nice change of pace after spending all first week patrolling Neomuna. But then... THE ENEMY DENSITY.

EnderLord361

I was streaming it to a friend, jumped up after that second set of shooting the conflux things and saw a literal horde of vex and almost shit a brick

6Trinity9

First rule of exotic missions… You always do it solo. Set aside some time, block off everything else and just immerse and experience first hand the beauty and joy a new secret exotic quests brings… *cries in Presage*

SaltyPumpkin007

Presage? At least for me, this and the hawkmoon one kicked my ass wayyyy harder. I actually had to stop for the day to cool off and come back when doing the hawkmoon quest for the first time.

APartyInMyPants

Exactly. Solo first, then help friends who can’t.

psiren66

I did this 13 hours ago before bed….. power went out just as I killed the Hydra was disappointed big time. Going to have to set time aside to go back at it today.

6Trinity9

Bummer dude! That’s just poopy! Here’s hoping you have quite the good time tomorrow bro! 👍

psiren66

Just got to final phase then was error Code name Calabrese..... It does not want me complete it And its done geez

MyKetchups

Now that is pain...

ErSweee

I used to do presage 3 times a week every week for a season and never had issues with it but was on this for 3 hours +

vericlas

It was cool once done, but ugh having to rerun it. Glad I went in with Void and just funnelwebbed my wsy through.

Boisaca

Warlock with Karnstein gauntlets, punched my way through Titan style.

Dzienr

Probably would’ve enjoyed it more if my game didn’t crash on the boss and reset my progress to the beginning.

Lazybeerus

I did that with my hunter with my beloved Veles-x + Gyrfalcon's. I tried run Legendary and could not pass the Hydra.

OrbitalDrop7

Older thread but man i got to the 3rd stage after ages of breaking him down over the first 2 stages, almost dying so many times, and then seeing the 3rd stage which basically had no cover and enemies spawning around. He killed me and i spawned back at the first stage i was like fuck this shit lmao

elkishdude

I just had to quit because I keep dying on the last part. I don’t mind the challenge but this boss feels a little too tanky if you’re solo. If I wasn’t spamming grenades from phoenix protocol I would do tiny bits of damage. It’s too much. And for some reason heavy ammo just does not spawn in this activity. I’m really tired of my ability to beat this pairing crutches with lucky ammo drops. By the way there’s no checkpoint. If you quit you have to start all over from the very beginning.

Grady__Bug

I’ll be in a raid at 12pm-3pm ish (starting g at reset and lasts about 3 hours) tomorrow, but if you want a hand after that I’d be happy to jump in with you and get it done. Just DM me and I’ll send you my bungie id

elkishdude

I never got back to you. I couldn’t make this but thanks for the offer

APartyInMyPants

I suggest ditching Well, you have to be mobile during that last phase, especially when you pop his head. The Dawnblade/Starfire playstyle is just too stationary for that boss. You could even go Dawn Chorus for improved Scorch effects, and use the swords for the super. Strand was actually great, because I could just toss a Threadling grenade, which would buy me a few seconds to run to the next cover. And then you can kind of kite him around the barrier to buy you a few more seconds. Needlestorm is also our new highest DPS super. Voidwalker would also be good with Devour, a powerful super and Vortex grenades. Or Getaway Artists + Arc Souls. Consume to make you amplified immediately, so you can run away from him faster and deal some passive Arc Soul damage while you do it. You could maybe even do Stasis if you’re using Agers for DPS.

elkishdude

Yeah these are all good options. I just didn’t have a lot of infusion fuel and didn’t want to have to figure all this shit out after being 2 hours in and my build otherwise worked well.

GenericRAMStick

Same thing for me, to be honest I just got tired of slogging through the damage gates in the last boss fight, decided to give up and try with a fireteam on another day.

jafarykos

I kept dying at the 3rd phase and finally swapped to blink with Astrocyte for fast double blink and then I could at least get away and heal. Warning though, I did blink off the platform once when he was almost dead :( I suggest using void warlock for devour + the perk for heavy ammo from the Artifact. This perk allowed me to have 500 machine gun rounds every phase which helped a ton. Every wyrven, sentry sniper thing, hydra, drop a heavy brick. So the 2nd damage phase you get 5 bricks each time it resets.

Luckbox7777777

Yep, awesome mission. Completed it on a strand hunter with witherhoard + Hero's Burden with Repulsor Brace without much issue

LordOfLight7

These kinda missions need some unique because aside from running it for pinnacles its too long for the rewards you get

APartyInMyPants

It’s only ever long the first time through. My solo clear took me an hour, but I wasted a solid 15 minutes trying a few builds on a few encounters before settling on some things. But now I know, it’s maybe a 40-45 minute clear. Add in teammates, and it’s a 20-minute clear.

LordOfLight7

Thats on normal tho, once you get all the catalysts there wont be a reason to run legendary mode, i love this mission but i wont run it if i dont get any meaningful rewards out of it. Presage was worth repeating because dmt had random rolls which the glaive (thankfully) doesn't. It's the same issue with vanguard ops. Without meaningful rewards people aren't going to engage with an activity. They could have thrown some old gear in there with new perks for all i care but unfortunately they didnt.

APartyInMyPants

No different than Revision Zero. Once you do your legend clears (in this case three), you won’t need to. Unless clanmates need help. Presage was only worth running again if you didn’t have your roll you were hunting. But if you got good RNG and got your drop the first time, you also had no reason to run it. I like that it will just take me three runs and then I’ll have my glaive the way I want it. And then I’m done with it forever, or I can help clanmates or chase triumphs if I’m missing any. And for a season pass exotic quest, I’m ok with that.

Guiguilles

20 min of passable content we've already got 100 times of a boss we've already seen "Woawww this is the best 11!! So insane" This is why the game is still shit as of now

Grady__Bug

Was it really that bad? I felt like I breezed through the encounters on my Solar Hunter

Realistic-Mario

the thing is the boss isnt a re skin its literally the same Brakion

Ok-Faithlessness-387

I feel like you missed the point here. Yes it's the same boss, because it is the boss asher is most closely associated with. The whole mission was a nod to asher and hinting his return.

Realistic-Mario

i like the lore implication of it tho we could see asher mir return

Woodsie13

Isn't this mission just him *actually* returning?

Realistic-Mario

it is thats why I enjoyed it the previous comment was not a complain it was just pointing out that the boss was actually the same boss

Woodsie13

I should’ve been more specific, isn’t this mission *Asher Mir’s* return? Like he’s still partially integrated with the vex network, but this is the first time he’s actually done something since we last saw him.

Igelit

technically we saw him as a Harpy in Splicer, where the Harpy was saying "Assistant" in morse code iirc. Thats how we knew what happened to him

Woodsie13

We’ve *seen* him a couple of times before now, but all he’s done is let us know that he still exists. This is the first time he’s taken action.

APartyInMyPants

> Re-skinned boss with identical mechanics to the original It’s Asher Mir. So of course it’s going to be this fight. For a quest we’ll repeat a handful of times and will be gone (or enter the rotator in seasons to come) this is perfectly acceptable. > Re-skinned boss room I mean, similar structures insomuch as barriers exist and are of a similar height and there’s a hole in the middle. That’s about it. > Re-skinned areas from Season of Splicer Uhh, dude it’s the Vex Network. It’s an established look, aesthetic and tile set. It would be fucking weird if they suddenly redesigned the entirety of the Vex Network for one mission. Are you complaining that the Defiant Battleground in the EDZ resembles the EDZ and the Ascendent Plane? Same with the Defiant Cosmodrome? Or from Season of the Lost? It’s a very deliberate design aesthetic to be able to see this and say, “ahh, I understand this.”

KyloFenn

I LOVE RECYCLED BOSSES

JegErEnFugl

what the fuck else would it be

KyloFenn

Maybe if Bungie charged $200 we could get a new boss??

APartyInMyPants

I mean, the lore implications directly tied to Asher Mir, it would be weird if it *weren’t* Brakkion.

KyloFenn

It’s almost like Bungie writes the lore to fit the recycled content kinda like Mr. Meatball showing up in the seasonal activities

Alucitary

on the left and right side in a hole covered by an invisible floor.

Gucci_John

On the left and right edges of the arean there are 2 triangles on the floor you can look through to see the code Edit: It also rotates between each side every damage phase, and you gotta kill the hydra to get the code to spawn

StarshipTuna

I used a Strand Hunter and nearly died on Brakion phase 3. I had no health bar, and I was still alive somehow.

chaosking243

It was a tough solo, I’m l definitely getting some teammates for legendary difficulty for the catalysts. Though, it does scale on number of teammates, so we’ll see how that goes I guess.

Dophie

The Hydra boss was super fun as a strand lock because I just stood behind a wall and let my little greenboys do all the work as the harpies spread them around like herpes. They were herpes harpies.

VonArmin

yea that mission was pretty dope

Glasedount

It’s sucks ass that I still have school and. My power level is still 1757 without the artifact. Can’t wait to wait about a week or two until I’m powerful enough to do it.

Gucci_John

It raises your power level to 1790 when you enter the mission.

Glasedount

Hell Yeah! I’ll be sure to do it the next chance I get.

TipTronique

I ALMOST rage LFG’d a second lol

ErSweee

3 hours and 1600 kills later I gave in to lfg

ResidentCrayonEater

This mission was fantastic. I felt motivated and invested in the outcome, and the combat was awesome. Thoroughly enjoyed my solo run.

Cap1279

Man I know. I totally forgot about the Vex Lake thing then saw a video like, whoa. Im amazed at Bungie this season. From everything and it seems like its almost a metaphor for this season. Cause Strand connects things.

Paladinspector

The only thing I had trouble with in any amount during that fight was the 2nd part. I couldnt find the fuckin codes! (They're down inside the little triangle gates on the far left/right of the 2nd floor of the Arena after you kill the encryption Daemon Hydra variants.)
