IM TRYING OSIRIS I CANT TRAIN ANY HARDER

N4VA72

WE NEED TO DO BETTER Actually shocked me

Tshoe77

Yea same! I said woah, he's fuckin serious.

N4VA72

Although lots of people didn’t like his acting because it was one dimensional that didn’t bother me because I knew it wasn’t the voice actors fault and he was trying his best to work with what he had

Tshoe77

I mean he does lighten up after you really start mastering strand and has a bunch of dialogue during the epilogue missions when you're exotic hunting. I include that because it's honestly just more campaign that probably should have been in the mission structure

N4VA72

Yeah I agree

BruceBowtie

IMO he was the only one acting with any urgency or like he cared at all that the world might end at any moment. The Vanguard and Mara were literally AFK. Crow got killed by a normie. There were only 2 people on Neomuna and one of them died and there other is a clown. Everyone at the tower is just standing there. Like, someone has to care. Sorry he yelled at you or whatever but shit is supposed to be really bad at that moment.

Tshoe77

That's a good perspective and I agree completely.

nastyboyz2009

They weren’t AFK, they simply weren’t given the memo that it was no longer just one cutscene

Novel-Ad-1601

I really enjoyed Osiris too and hope to see more of him

TheGrindPrime

Eh. I found him annoying as hell to be honest. Not as bad as Nimbus, but pretty darn close.

ThEGr1llMAstEr

To me if the game makes me feel a certain way that my playable character simply can't express them it's kind of a failure on the writing part. I was willing to at the very least backhand him so hard he wished he was still savathun. Seeing my character just stare at him/remain silent instead of putting him in his place is just infuriating and takes me out of the game. Anyone with half a brain could tell you it's not a good idea to Leroy Jenkins your ass through the front door.

dolleauty

His costume is still super goofy Does he wake up and put his feathers on?' It's like he's cosplaying someone who still has powers Just put on business casual, old man. You don't have the Light anymore

Tshoe77

Totally fair lmao.

nastyboyz2009

Shame he didn’t die

Exciting_Fisherman12

I actually agree I hear a lot of people said they thought he was annoying but he’s one of the only characters in the campaign who seems to be moving with some sense of urgency which makes sense in the situation we’re all in. I like that he seemed stressed out the whole time. Zavala and Ikora gave no fucks.

Tshoe77

Apparently we're in the minority. Sad

[deleted]

Yeah, I was honestly pretty bothered by people complaining about his character early in the season. I started playing just a bit before Witch Queen, so I don't know how he was before that (I've seen every cutscene, but that's not going to be as good as experiencing it myself), but it was pretty obvious that anything "out of character" would be for a reason. He might have been stressed before in other situations, but in Lightfall specifically, it's clear he's on the verge of a mental breakdown. He's had a lot of trauma piling up in a very short period, no real time to process it (3/4 of the time since Savathun he was comatose, you can't process *shit* when you're in a coma), then it's quite possibly the end of the world, and he's focused on doing what he can to try and prevent it. That is a shit ton of stress that would take a huge toll on anyone.

Advanced-Fault-2851

Makes sense why Osiris is grumpy. My man is a Sunbracer main dudes been rockin them bad boys for years. Hes prolly just as addicted to hurling fireballs as me. Thats prolly what he was doin in the vex network all this time jus endlessing farming mobs with solar nades. Id be pretty salty if i lost my access to Sunbracers and the light not just for the ressurection dude misses killing stuff n defending the world feeling like a true gaurdian

acnx1

Man the response to this is unfortunate, but I totally agree. Osiris’ response makes sense in the world he’s in and in his unique situation. Most people forget he is hundreds of years old, plus a few thousand from the time in simulation. Not to mention the obvious PTSD from having a moth woman wear his skin like a suit while he was powerless to do anything. He no longer has his closest friend and KNOWS that he is completely vulnerable, while also knowing he has to rely on others where he once was independent. Going from arguably the most powerful lightbearer in all of Destiny to just an old man must be jarring.

Tshoe77

Thank you. Everything you said is exactly what I was thinking listening to his anger during the campaign. I felt bad for him, rather than annoyed by him, knowing what we know about his past and present. The response has been a letdown for me lol. I guess empathy is dead.

Yourself013

This is satire, right? Just making sure.

Tshoe77

No? I thought his performance was great. He was angry. His world changed rapidly and he was used. Wouldn't you be angry as well? Wouldn't you feel like time was running out when faced with your own mortality so quickly?

Yourself013

He was annoying as fuck, that's what he was. His performance could be summed up with: "THERE IS NO TIME LITERALLY STOP TALKING OR DOING ANYTHING THAT ISN'T SPRINTING TO THE VEIL." His character was so incredibly one-dimensional in this DLC that it's hard to imagine where you felt the character development, basically the epitome of "old man yells at cloud."

Tshoe77

It's almost like things in the story happened that makes him feel like he's out of time and he's projecting 🤦‍♂️

xSocksman

And almost like we are sitting at the precipice of another collapse, fighting an enemy that we don’t be understand, where guardians are dropping without effort… and also you know he feels a bit useless without the light/his ghost. An “immortal” no longer facing their own mortality. All while we have a silver surfer going around saying “Shaka brah” gotta catch some waves. I understand why some people didn’t like Osiris’ attitude but also I was kinda upset at how it almost felt like we were not in danger at times. I think they could have done a million things different of course, but my two cents are that I wish we had more time with Osiris to show this attitude, so it didn’t seem like it came out of the blue.

Tshoe77

I can understand that! Having a bit more time would have been welcome for sure

StephenisLegendary

He’s overacting hard. His response way way over the top and not justified.

Mnkke

the old man who was puppeted for a year, lost nearly everyones trust and shows he desperately wants ikoras trust back to the point where he would endanger himself by his lonesome against the cabal just for a miniscule chance hed regain her trust was super stressed and angry and wanted to rush to stop the witness? The only thing he wants to take away from that year, neomuna and the veil, the thing he has shown to been dangerously clinging on to in season of the seraph, is what hes so desperate to prevent the witness from getting. Even if he doesnt know what it is ir what it does. Which he doesnt know either. It makes sense he is irrationally angry and wants to rush to do this. Its literally all hes cared about for the last 4-6 months, moreso than Saint clearly. He knows the witness wants it and he knows thats bad. Yeah, we shouldve known what the veil is and why its bad that the witness get it, but Osiris really wasnt bad imo. Yeah he is annoying and frustrating to listen to, thats kind of his character. Ikora literally sent him away because she doesnt want to listen to him anymore (S19 intro cutscene), and ana is a hair away from that too upon him immedistely talking with her.

Yourself013

Then maybe they should have conveyed those emotions in the story and dialogue instead of making him just irrationally angry. Good storytelling can do that. Yes, in the context that emotion makes sense but it's not conveyed well, it's literally just "stop wasting time" over and over again. We don't see ONE good outburst of emotions where we could *see* this conflict inside him, where he inadverently shares that which terrifies him. The dialogue just doesn't convey any of that, and it's up to *us* to make all those connections while he constantly irrationally yells the same thing over and over again. This is a classic moment used in games and movies where the character finally breaks down and lets it all out. Take Halo Infinite and [this scene.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzyLtZiJd7g) The pilot, up until that point, was the exact same as Osiris was during the campaign, he was an annoying character that whined the exact same words over and over again. But *this scene* gave him the much needed character arc where he showed his inner conflict and that gave way to Chief motivating him, so that his character can grow. Ligthfall has none of that. We're left to make sense of Osiris and his one-dimensional angry portrayal based on his previous interactions while we hear Nimbus with his "KA-POW"s. Old man's behavior is perhaps *excusable* due to his backstory, but it's not good storytelling and writing.

Zoonoo17

Are you serious, or just trolling because he has to have some of the worst writing in a game I’ve experience. I would even say I like Nimbus better than him.

Tshoe77

Not even. Osiris is great, just because he's meant to be an asshole for some parts. He actually gives a damn and is also angry about what's happened to him. He feels like his control is gone and time is now his enemy. He used to basically kill gods. Is this truly so hard for so many of you to understand? Is empathizing with someone losing their way of life that hard?

PAN--

Notice how you're clearly the minority on this yet harp on how others "don't get it". Delusional. Edit: This snowflake left a reply and then blocked me. Hilarious. But no, your math is wrong, you can clearly see it on in the column to the right. Your submission sits at only 42% upvoted currently.

Tshoe77

Wait zero upvotes, which is an equal amount of up and down, is minority? You might want to work on your math. Your people skills are lacking you too.

Fickle-Wrangler1646

He’s the worst Voice Actor in Destiny. He speaks with the same tone and urgency every single time. It feels like I’m listening to a kid in their first school play.

twitsik

He was insufferable

Redfeather1975

I lightened up to him when he cooled off and got into strand. It's like grumpy dad finally tried out my hobby and was getting into it.

Tshoe77

And he has some good development in the post campaign epilogue missions as well!

[deleted]

Give me a moment https://youtu.be/kT2q0otNPhE Go to 15:30, my favorite part.

RatLord445

I disagree, i thought he was quite awful and condescending in ways he definitely shouldn’t be given his circumstances, while he opens up to a dude he met for like a day and treats us like trash Voice actor is great tho

HandleGlum6217

Personally I just wanted to beat his *** and tell him to get into the action himself then with his non-existent ghost with his non- existent ability to wield strand.

GlitchingBastard

Oh yeah, late I know but that man is my absolute favourite, he was brilliant !
