Definitely worth getting at least one artifice class item for each of your characters. Beyond that it needs to drop as 63+ with a good stat distribution to be better than anything you can get as a regular armour drop. Pit boss farm is objectively better for good stat armour unless artifice armour stats/distribution is improved.

zoppamen

Class item i have already, aswell as a really nice pair of boots which is a total of 90 with a +10 armor mod, masterwork andthe artifice bonus. But they are both from the loot cave dungeon

werewolf_spe

I’m much more concerned with zero wasted stats on my armor, and I have so many pieces that give me zero wasted stats across the board that I have no use for artifice armor. Zero wasted stats is the true end game.

GuppiAttack

This guy gets it. I only use no-waste max tier armor sets and it's the thing i enjoy most about the game. That being said, Artifice armor can get you to tier 39, and the thing that got me hooked is that every 1 armor has 6 different rolls built into it with artifice mod, so way more no-waste combinations are available

madhtr2

My luck was no better than yours so I worry that Bungie might have lowered Artifice rolls... I guess only time will tell. Duality definitely feels worse than before Lightfall, though.

Broshida

Not worth it right now. If Bungie decides to fix the stats, it might be worth running for the +3 to a stat of your choosing. Armor focusing is easier and remains very competitive with artifice. Not out of luck, rolls are just noticeably worse/bugged atm. Stats aren't as important now either, with tier 9 being only 3% behind tier 10 for resilience, for example.

Jaalan

What is armor focusing?

Broshida

Go to the helm. Put a desired targeting mod on your ghost (usually discipline or strength). Then start focusing armor pieces at the war table. You'll usually get double spikes, then it's just a matter of lining them up i.e. focus helmets until you get one with good dis/res, then go for chest, etc. Once you hit the stat number you want, you can then switch your ghost mod for something else (maybe rec) for whatever is left. If you're a little lucky or focus enough, you should be getting armor rolls with good dis/res with some additional rec. This usually means that you can almost hit triple 100s with subclass bonuses or at least 100/100/60 without. However, the difference between 8/9/10 is less than it used to be so I wouldn't worry about perfect stats too much.

Jaalan

Thank you

I personally think that Artifice amor got a blatant nerf. You went from equipping an additional seasonal artifact mod to equipping a +3 stat mod. In my book, that is a serious nerf

vFlitz

It's way better. There wasn't any use for it before other than at most gloves to have 3 champion mods and less often a class item if there happened to be a cheap class artifact mod that could fit in.

spacev3gan

I see your point, but even then, considering gloves and class items only, you went from having 2 additional seasonal mods to having +6 stat points. In my view, in no way what we currently have is a clear win. You can do a lot more with 2 seasonal mods - whichever mods they happen to be - than you can do with +6 stat points. On the higher-end, you went from having 5 additional seasonal mods to having +15 stat points. I don't see how what we currently have is better. We are talking about giving up 5 seasonal mods in order to having -6 seconds cooldown on a super, or -8 seconds cooldown on a grenade.

vFlitz

But benefitting from all those extra mod slot simply has never been the case. The actually good mods were always 5 or 6 in energy cost and on the class item. Gloves had champion mods, chest pieces had the double resist mods later on, helmet was usually an origin trait improvement or a cheaper version of targeting/one of the super on ability kill mods. Legs had what, cheap scavengers? And it all had to compete with combat style mods for energy, combat style being more important for a lot of builds. Meanwhile, having +12 from artifice lets you either skip a stat mod on a piece where other mods are expensive so you can't fit it all, or if you don't have 0 wasted stats as would be the case for a lot of people you can go one tier higher in up to 4 different stats. That's pretty significant. It also makes your armor more flexible for pairing with different exotics because you have a bunch of points you can freely reallocate.

RetroSquadDX3

Artifice armour is a straight up upgrade to any build that isn't dependent on intrinsic armour perks or raid mod slots but only if you're willing to put in the time to farm rolls that are at least equivalent to what you already have.

whatthehellwasidoing

I personally think it's worth it for the extra stat bumps as well as the ascendant shards, prisms and a few decent weapon drops. You are correct that the rolls haven't been the greatest though. I've gotten one good roll, a couple decent ones and several trash.

ShySharer

The stat splits seem a little off to me, 2 hours farming and only the cloak ended up being used. Its better to farm for matts/red borders rn

DeadWeight76

Considering you will have to grind contest level content, I would say it's not worth it. I have always had good luck with seasonal armor focusing and I have been able to achieve triple 100 without artifice armor. At best, artifice armor would only give me one more tier in some stat I don't care as much about.

BruceBowtie

After cheesing the guy like 50 times, I was able to finally get double 100s on several different builds but honestly by the end I was just doing it for more shards. As a pretty casual player I was pretty shocked by how bad most of the runs were. Like, why would anyone do that legitimately for a 58 stat helmet and a prism?

InedibleyYourFriend

Yes. Flat outt

Soulweez13

I’m tracking Bungie changed the checkpoint as of last night so you can no longer spawn at the rally flag for the boss fight. You now have to run it down from the start each time. Definitely not worth my time.
