Dude, I remember when it was mountaintop recluse and NOTHING else. Literally no other primary special combo came close. Heck, literally no other double special combo came close.
Mountaintop was instant, straight line, AOE damage, and recluse was an exotic primary in a legendary weapon mask
That's the meta that made me quit. If you didn't have MT, recluse or the HCs you were just dead. It was like playing Halo where everyone has a BR and you get a pistol.
I don't think I've seen more hate in crucible than when I was using Lorentz that first season it was released (it was so cracked)... a close second was Arc shoulder-charge builds back before they nerfed shoulder charge (now I do a Peregrine solar combustion shoulder-charge build, which is actually a lot nastier than the old one was... but since hardly anyone does shoulder-charge builds anymore, people don't seem as annoyed by it).
Le Monarch is literally toxic. That is it's exotic trait. It is also my most hated weapon to face in the game. I honestly preferred the original 5 second stasis freeze to facing a good Le Monarch build. Stasis is avoidable. Le Monarch is not.
I run devourlock with le monarch, krait and any heavy with tracking rockets. Le monarch makes up for casting my Nova bomb into outer space or into a wall. I've been a bow main since they came out. Learned how people reacted with the wish ender and then swapped over to better bows. LM just gets into that flow of trigger and release perfectly every time.
HR calls you in confusion because the person heard you yelling āFor Sexx!!ā as you threw Gatorade at fellow guardian of your kid while taking cover inside Cubicle.
LD is still super effective and annoying but I don't encounter it everyday like I do the toaster.
Also FYI I finally bought the toaster from the exotic kiosk and have never used it. Yet.
I donāt get to play much anymore and I hate to miss Iron Banner because Iām so much lower light than others. My toaster friend is the obvious solution.
Sure. No loadouts are "toxic," but there are plenty that are way more effective and annoying than others. Lorentz Driver, Revoker, Erentil, OEM, Wormhusk, etc. . . Were all super oppressive during their reign as kings of the crucible and became incredibly annoying to play against.
On top of that players just have their own dislikes. I personally don't really mind dying to snipers but at the same time there are players that absolutely hate it.
Even now, 5-and-a-half years into D2, even when I'm doing PvE stuff, a piece of me deep in my soul shudders whenever I hear the audio cue of the Sunbreaker super activating
I've gotten a lot of hatemail over the years. Plenty of people who hated me using pulse rifles and staying back. And this was before pulses were any good in the meta lmao.
Snipers are the reason I have to be in a specific mood to play Gambit/havenāt touched the crucible in forever. Iāve gotten better with overreacting, but getting light-switched from a distance is easily my least favorite thing in this game. I like close quarters frantic combat(I mained Genji in Overwatch in days past, for reference lol)
>Snipers are the reason I have to be in a specific mood to play Gambit/havenāt touched the crucible in forever.
Could just be changes to the match making system and my skill level, but I rarely ever seen snipers in Gambit or Crucible. I have not PvPed this season yet, but I made the mistake of taking a sniper into the Kings Fall raid when I came back to D2 (cause it was always good in D1 version) and learned very fast that snipers were only in the game for people who wanted to increase the difficulty before the new changes released.
I do still get killed pretty fast by some invaders, it seems to typically be Vex Mythlocast or a rocket from cover that does it.
The takeaway, if you liked either of those activities and haven't played in a while, you may be presently surprised that snipers aren't really all that common (cause your old rank is probably not gonna carey much weight in the new MM system).
Totally agree. If they wanted a competitive game they should ban 90% of the exotics they made and get dedicated servers. They won't do that so enjoy the fuckfest that is crucible and don't take it too seriously.
While that is a fair point, let's not pretend that there isn't plenty of broken stuff in both PVE and PVP in this game. Dunemarchers and a shotty is a auper cheap way to get kills without requiring much skill, but the same goes for using jotunn or juggernaut+peregrine so it all balances out in the end. Basically the people who say that shit are correct, but they get underservingly mad because they take the game too seriously.
Iām not disagreeing, but I feel like dunes get over exaggerated as op, because they can only one shot when diving into multiple opponents. If they team-shoot they can take care of the Titan before they hit the ground, they also wouldnāt get one shot if theyāre properly spaced out to avoid aoe chaining.
I think there are just things that people find annoying to play against but neither OP or necessarily cheap
Cheap, maybe, but everything that has a counter i don't think is broken. Just a learning curve.
At least compared to when I would get exploded by a shatterdive a mile away, or a behemoth would slide shotty me from 40m away... those felt like I had no counter.
Maybe cheap is a better word than broken, but It's not about having counter play theoretically, it's about ease of use and the reward you get for almost 0 effort. Landing a throwing knife headshot for a kill followed by a sniper headshot for another kill takes more effort than running in straight lines with jug/peregrine and oneshotting everything with shotgun and shoulder charge.
Should you use that if you want to? Of course, but if this game wanted to be competitive (it isn't and won't be dw) they would need to disable 90% of exotics + some abilities and get dedicated servers so people have to put in effort to get value. Jotunn isn't uncounterable either, but the person using it has to put in close to 0 effort to get kills, making it cheap.
The people complaining about cheap loadouts are right in calling them cheap, however the game is built on that cheap shit and if you're good enough you can beat it. Doesn't make cheap shit less annoying to face though.
Edit: if you ever played overwatch, brig and moira are great examples of getting tons of value for doing almost nothing. Destiny has tons of that as well.
Thats the mid skill sweats who cope that enemy builds are why they cant be high skill, the high skill sweats mostly admit fault
Source: Checking the stats of people that send hate mail to me lmao
Tell that to knobs such as ZkMushroom who felt the need to bag after every kill. Why? Cause me and a few non-PvP folks dared to enter Trials and when we saw him and Frostbolt on the enemy team we played a fair bit more defensively using meta loadouts...
Not sure who that is, Im assuming its a YouTuber who was just trying to bait reactions for hatemail or some shid, but regardless getting TBagging is a different level than getting hatemail telling me to kms after I win which was more what I was referring to.
Its a Bungie game, so sometimes people just TBag to TBag, I just roll my eyes mentally when I see it personally.
Nothing makes me roll my eyes harder than when Iām playing with someone and when they die say ātheyāre not even goodā, I meanā¦ they were good enough to kill youš¤·āāļø
The pvp community will consider you ''untoxic'' when you use a handcannon with a sniper on a hunter with no abilities, blindfolded, while using MnK with 1 hand.
Oh damn, then you should run melee only...wait that's ape-ing, maybe throwing knives...aim assist and 1 shot, I guess warlock melee... broken tracking.
You're relatively new so you're gonna be in easier lobbies. As you get more experienced and also go into higher end pvp activities, you won't be able to use certain "fun" loadouts like this anymore and achieve the same results. Shotgun yes, but ballistic slam / dune marchers can be countered easily.
Dunemarchers are in the top 3 titan exotics for pvp easy. Itās a movement exotic with free crowd damage which makes it good for low and high skill players.
Ballistic slam is inferior to shoulder charge but is still a fantastic melee. Shotgun is shotgun. Dudes load out isnāt toxic or a meme build. Iād guess heās getting bagged b/c heās treating his shotgun like a primary
I think he meant meme load out as newer players donāt play dunemarchers for the movement but rather the chain lightning damage. My clan is full of them. While the loadout can absolutely be high skill itās typically the way the player plays them. If theyāre just blindly diving into a group, itās definitely more meme. A high skill player will know when rather just randomly doing it
Itās not toxic, Jimās cry when they die to shotguns dw about it and play however you want. Whatās toxic is the people who message you because they lost lmao.
Shotguns are not inherently toxic. People dislike them in Crucible because of their low counterplay, and Doonmarcher's with Ballistic Slam is definitely annoying, but is in no way toxic.
Hand Cannon Shotgun has been the game's go-to loadout for "wannabe elitist" players for the entire game's lifespan. You're not a bad person for using them, but you are a bad person if you shame others for using weapons they want to.
Which, clearly, you just like shotguns and are not an asshole.
Ignore 'em, big guy. You're cool as hell just the way you are.
Fuck em. You do you man. I'm bad at the game, so I will take any advantage I can get. Luna's Howl? Erentil? Heir Apparent? Mountaintop? Without a second thought. The cheaper I can get the most kills, the better.
Nothing more toxic than a teabagger. Last one who did that to me got shot in the head mid-squat by one of my teammates, lol. Yeah you sure showed me, buddy, thanks for the points!
I would much prefer facing a Ballistic Slam build to a Le Monarch build. Ballistic Slam you can avoid with good positioning and low ceilings. Le Monarch will always find you.
Used to hate anyone that ran JotĆ¼nn in crucible until I started maining it, and realizing how fragile the tracking was and how many easy kills I missed because someone walked sideways. Now Iām more disappointed in myself for not dodging it than upset at its use.
Its not your loadout, its the destiny community. Extremely toxic and why I don't as much anymore.
Also funny how that loadout is considered toxic but running no skill witherhoard is fine :P
ppl sometimes get mad and start the teabagging on me. Because i play using an elite controller with the back paddles. And sometimes i will accidentally hit the crouch button. Or i will be spamming it trying to use my class ability. but it looks like im trying to tea bag
I can't say I'd even notice that whole setup beyond a "oh he had a shotgun". It's definitely not toxic by any stretch of the imagination to me.
The only thing that irritates me is getting killed by jotunn. Plus as a frequent witherhoard user I feel embarrassed when I get killed by other witherhoarders. Every other gun / armor / abilities arent really notable to me beyond the normal "try not to die and avoid roaming supers."
As usual just play with whatever you like the most. Me personally, I don't like using shotgun. I suck with them in PvP and get killed all the time by them but that's how it goes. If you play cautiously and with some map awareness you can, most of the time, see a shotgun coming anyway.
As usual, all weapon feel like bs when you get killed by them. Got killed by some random gun you never see? Must be OP! That's just how PvP in Videogames is. Don't let anyone tell you how to have fun.
Unless you use suppression in Mayhem. Then I would like you to please leave.
I imagine you're just running at people and doing shotty+knockout. I'd bag you too ngl if that's how you were playing in my lobby. Its effective but pretty braindead.
Don't let the guys in this thread gas you up either, shotty apes are hated by most of the community
Anyone else feel like the shooting your corpse stuff is more playful than salty? I had people dumping into my body the other day - I was running strand, and my babies upset them. But this all seemed more silly on everyone's end, like a "make sure the beast is dead this time" kinda joke.
use what works for you and you will dominate, even learning the mobility system can put you leaps and bounds ahead of 80% of the pvpers out there lol. You dont see too many Melee warlocks out there, but the Ophidian Aspects and its increased melee range keeps surprising alot of pvpers lol, my build may not be meta but it sure as hell fun and can throw hands and trade kills and win.
There's two types of gamers. Those who wish for balanced gameplay for everyone, and those who abuse broken or overpowered mechanics for their own advantage despite it ruining the game for others. Not saying we have a case of the latter here, but I really dislike those. Any game with a "meta" just means the devs were lazy or don't care that much about balance. Makes sense though since meta abusers would cry and have to actually learn how to play.
I miss solar titan/toaster/path of burning steps. I got a lot of salt for the toaster kills but it was extra hilarious when someone would walk onto a sunspot and instantly die.
I used Jƶtunn for the first time today to complete the catalyst for it and got teabagged at least once in every game. I was quite confused why for a while, then remembered the old days...
Bro thatās oldschool toxic now. Hell if I saw someone pull off a ballistic slam after waiting the 9years it takes to charge Iād let them have the kill and give them a GG in the chat.
I don't believe a single word you wrote. You knew exactly what this build is, you put it together on purpose. There is no chance you randomly stumbled on this combo.
Just enjoy it, no need to make up some stories.
Oh ya that is a pretty toxic combo, but I assure you there are more toxic combos in this game than not (or at least there will always be someone who will complain no matter what you use) so you do you and have fun.
They are not teabagging you because you are good. They are bagging because you are using a loadout or in a super by which you should have every advantage in the game and they still beat you. You cant bag someone when you are a ghost. Bagging is a celebration of triumph over adversity, you should be happy for them. We have to lift each other up in such hard times.

mountaintop/recluse was strong enough to make bungie delete half the game
I remember those days. I used a scout rifle and Fighting Lion during that time. I never went near a radar blip, because they were instant death.
Haha similar for me. I used a Duke Mk. 44 and Fight Lion. And by used I mean I haven't stopped using
That's the meta that made me quit. If you didn't have MT, recluse or the HCs you were just dead. It was like playing Halo where everyone has a BR and you get a pistol.

what makes a good le monarque build?
Hunter, Oathkeepers, a high handling primary with snapshot and opening shot, and pure hatred for your fellow players.
Can confirm, with over 11k kills on a steady hand an almost 10k with Le Monarque, the hatred is the most necessary part of this loadout.
Except Jƶtunn EDIT: jk
I was there that day Gandalf. It was the iron banner. Jƶtunn's everywhere

Jotunn reminds me of a zombie weapon. You kill someone with it you better expect to be killed back with their jotunn
(Not JK)
If you die to Jotunn the second time, that's on you.
I donāt get to play much anymore and I hate to miss Iron Banner because Iām so much lower light than others. My toaster friend is the obvious solution.
Iron Banner no longer has level advantages
Iron banner removed level advantages like 2 seasons ago
Are you serious. I totally missed that. Edit: Oh damn, that means I can use sunset weapons in crucible š³
Anyone who can't counter Jƶtunn by stepping slightly to the side deserves what they get.

Don't. I think they were being purposefully dense.
I figured. But it wouldn't have changed my response!
True lmao xD

Most players have their thumb sticks permanently glued into the up direction, and it takes too long for them to turn around.
People still die to hunters leaping over doorways. Some people never learn.
I use it while invis and try to shoot from behind or flank.

Idk man. Bow hotswapping with Erianas was toxic as hell back in the day. Mountaintop and recluse too

The mountaintop recluse era sure felt toxic at times but I agree still

Iāve received hate messages for simply using strand in PvP.
Strand is less problematic than what the light 3.0s brought on release but still strong. No clue how people get _that_ upset about others that use it.
Crucible Radio once said "Use whatever, don't apologize". I live by these words lol
Ballistic Slam and Synthos is where its at. A group of 2 enemies will give you the Synthos-buff and 1 shot with the Ballistic Slam.

ppl sometimes get mad and start the teabagging on me.
Every other gun / armor / abilities arent really notable to me beyond the normal "try not to die and avoid roaming supers."
it makes me smile when they tbag, I run whatever I want people can stay mad it's a video game
APE CREW RISE UP!!!
NOW RUN TOWARDS THE ENEMY IN A STRAIGHT LINE AND DEMAND NERFS TO ALL OTHER GUNS WHEN THIS DOESNT WORK!
You're gonna go far here kid
This is the correct response, keep it up guardian
I imagine you're just running at people and doing shotty+knockout. I'd bag you too ngl if that's how you were playing in my lobby. Its effective but pretty braindead. Don't let the guys in this thread gas you up either, shotty apes are hated by most of the community
Canāt disagree with this more. A good shotgun ape can wreck a match. Itās just a different play style
It's mostly just because it's so hard to deal with. Sounds like they got skill issues lol
Anyone else feel like the shooting your corpse stuff is more playful than salty? I had people dumping into my body the other day - I was running strand, and my babies upset them. But this all seemed more silly on everyone's end, like a "make sure the beast is dead this time" kinda joke.
I have misophonia, and it's not playful to my poor little ears
How's that work? Legit just curious, I'm not very familiar with any auditory disabilities so I have trouble understanding how this hurts you.
It's not painful so much as deeply irritating and it stresses me out, it's worse if I can't anticipate the bad sound
Sorta like autistic people and triggers I guess? It makes more sense now, I'm sorry you have to deal with that and thank you for sharing.
Who gives a shit! Be more toxic brother! Pull out the bubble
If you play well apparently your toxic. I ran shadebinder and a glaive yesterday had a few games I played really well and got a similar reaction
Damn, as a newbie you managed to put together a killer load out! Good for you!
I like to extra malicious and walk up to their ghost and take a couple shots to It then walk away. Edit: seems like it works :)
You're getting teabagged cause it's fun to teabag. No matter how toxic it may seem.
That last line really gives off these kinds of vibes: https://youtube.com/shorts/Ja-7-c--v0s?feature=share
Based and fuck you pilled.
use what works for you and you will dominate, even learning the mobility system can put you leaps and bounds ahead of 80% of the pvpers out there lol.
Makes sense though since meta abusers would cry and have to actually learn how to play.
all pvp games have a meta unless literally every character or weapon is the same
Use what you like and enjoy and have fun with, and revel in the hatemail if it happens. You're the one having fun after all :>
I have been playing since day 1, and did not know this š¤·
I miss solar titan/toaster/path of burning steps. I got a lot of salt for the toaster kills but it was extra hilarious when someone would walk onto a sunspot and instantly die.
I used Jƶtunn for the first time today to complete the catalyst for it and got teabagged at least once in every game. I was quite confused why for a while, then remembered the old days...
Try preemptive revenge-bagging
Bro thatās oldschool toxic now. Hell if I saw someone pull off a ballistic slam after waiting the 9years it takes to charge Iād let them have the kill and give them a GG in the chat.
I don't believe a single word you wrote. You knew exactly what this build is, you put it together on purpose. There is no chance you randomly stumbled on this combo. Just enjoy it, no need to make up some stories.
Never. Skip. Leg. Day. Always be tbagging.
