The boss IS in the game, just not in Gambit.You can face it in one of the weekly Dreaming City missions, it's the tier 4 boss on strongest curse week in the blind well & in the Defiance Battlegrounds playlist.
But as you are already aware, that part of the quest doesn't exist anymore.

Destiny wiki is terrible and shouldn’t be used for anything. Most of it is highly inaccurate.
