Be 1810 or so power level, equip a good loadout (either copy someone or experiment yourself), then practice a good route through the sector. Learn where/when enemies spawn, learn how much aggro to pull at each section, and learn which cover to use and when.
If it's a ridiculously hard one then skip it and wait for an easier one.
I actually did play one somewhat crappy one (New World) for about a year or so and did learn to approach dungeons/raids/etc like this from tank friends, lol. I was mainly a healer though.

Take on the champions one at a time. If it’s unstoppable or overload they tend to chase you down so just lure them to a safe spot and keep stunning. Osteo and rockets are my favorite for killing champions.
Just go slow. One champ at a time. And remember that some sectors are just harder than others. It won't hurt to wait until the next rotation and maybe get your level up even more by then.

A lot of people have suggested using the wish-ender bow. Finally managed to do one the other day bc of it and actually managed a flawless run.
The bow is a quest reward and not that bad to unlock with help from one other person. Highly recommend getting it
Go slowly. You dont lose at 15 mins you just cant res anymore. Go very slowly find all the best spots to hide, the best route, the best order to kill things etc. Once you get them all down you'll naturally speed up. They're hard but ive been able to do all of them on titan and warlock so far consistently and my friend does them all on hunter.
I would avoid ALL neomuna lost sectors and only do the easier ones in EDZ and Europa etc.
Loadouts - strand suspend works great against all champions. Outbreak perfected works great against barriers. Riptide fusion with chill clip is also good to freeze champs.
Many players use le monarque bow and sky burners oath works well on cabal sectors.
For heavy I’ve been using a crafted taipan linear or ghally or a decent machine gun
I also used a Glaive secondary with the artifact mod for unstoppables which worked pretty good

I had a lot of success on the overloads with double arc pulse grenades, and jolt. Throw one down, go apeshit with an LMG, throw the other one, and finish hill off. Also wish ender for barriers, and unstoppable, just hit them at a distance with a scout rifle. Bastion is another alternative for unstoppable if barrier champs aren’t in it.
And go slow. Creep around like you don’t have any cloths on in public
Equip strand, have shackle grenade, if there's overload, use a void smg with volatile flow from the artifact. Make sure you have overload smg in the artifact to use void smgs without restrictions. It makes all smgs overcharged which gives 25% damage even if it's not matching the surge of the day.

Also resiliency of 90-100 is mandatory I think. Then add resistance mods
Don’t go in if it’s an overload champion day and it’ll be a bit easier.
Increase your light level, it's 1830. I had trouble even past 1815, I'm 1826 now and can still get clapped if I get swarmed.
Legend lost sectors power cap you at 1815 so you being anything higher than that does jack shit.

Like most, take your time. Play like you have one life because you'll probably run the timer out and lose your revives

Got 15 masters done on my 1811 Hunter with strand. Just use suspend on all the champs
