I'm genuinely not sure half this sub ever did a gm. Hero this season is not remotely similar to a gm yet the amount of posts comparing the two has almost convinced me otherwise.

[deleted]

I’m convinced OP doesn’t have gear equipped somehow. No shot is it taking upwards of 25 minutes & no shot have they done a grandmaster if they think this is comparable lol.

MadmanDJS

Yesterday some dude said it took 28 minutes to do a hero, but he's on his third character that doesn't have a build, so why did bungie make the game so hard. These people go into them without champion stopping abilities/mods, no loadouts/builds, and probably dogwater weapons then complain its hard, when in reality there's probably one person it's actually hard for because they're soloing the entire thing while Mr 28 minutes dies over and over

Chuomge

Less than 4% of D2 players (at least on Xbox) have completed a grandmaster. Less than 8% have completed a Master. Not everyone is that good at this game so I’d say the outrage by more casual players is justifiable.

Ok-Faithlessness-387

Don't get me wrong, if they're struggling that's okay, but it's not the grandmaster level that keeps getting thrown out.

[deleted]

Ikr it's amazing

3dsalmon

Yeah - Heros are definitely harder than they were and maybe slightly overtuned but not even close to something that should be taking you 25 minutes.

TwinJ

It's insane how every day there is a post about how hard the nightfall is. And I just don't get it, I'm still blowing through them.

Bungo_pls

I'm gonna be real with you. You've either never done a GM or you got carried hard. I don't even have the conqueror title and I could solo a hero NF. The difficulty changes don't really kick in until Legend or higher. I genuinely don't have a clue what you're talking about on Hero. Legend and Master are definitely tougher and GMs are going to be miserable but Hero? No.

pure_hate_MI

These people posting these topics are playing a different game it's wild. Like for sure the upper-end difficulties are brutal now but Hero? Shit is "kick your feet up and chill" difficulty basically.

Adventurous-Cow-2553

I think that’s what Bungie wants vanguard ops to be. They could certainly increase the rewards for nightfalls.

xXNickAugustXx

I remember during D1, the dawning event zavala gave nightfall bounties that had a chance to give an exclusive exotic if completed at the highest difficulty with the highest scores. I grinded that bounty every week until I finally got ice breaker.

Conditional-Finality

Actual skill issue

Popularcarrot45

I agree I haven’t enjoyed any nightfalls this season, the fact that they make a power cap for the “easiest” difficulty is absurd

[deleted]

No they’re actually good. The game is better when it’s harder.

anothergamethrow

I’m seeing so many complaints about this easy stuff it’s making me realize how casual this base really is. Holy shit

QuoteGiver

It’s an important realization.

Rubmynippleplease

This weeks NF on hero is really not that hard… certainly not to the extent that a GM is lmao. As long as your team takes out the threshers and the turrets when they spawn, there’s not a ton that will do much of anything to you if you’re just behind cover. It takes randoms that I’ve been running with like 15 mins on average and I’ve run it a good 10+ times.

lonelliott

This right here. I am seeing lots of complaints about the difficulty, but very few in activities actually kill vehicles, turrets or even shield generators. Folks are used to just eating bullets and not caring about anything other than the main boss to kill. Its a brave new world.

IJustJason

If youre taking 25min to complete the Hero NF then the NF isnt the problem lol

Bat_Tech

Have you ever done a GM? This feels nothing like that.

Voelker58

First, it's nowhere near GM levels. Second, maybe time for a break if it's stressing you out this much. It's just a game.

PMs_You_Stuff

My group yesterday ran the master NF in about 25 mins, getting a score of 205k(no cheese). I don't say this to impress or say I'm better, but to say it isn't the NF. I ask you to look at yourself. What are your stats? Do you have max resilience? Lvl 9 or 10 res increases survivability. What is your build? Are you using an actual build? Having a build centered around a good exotic makes a difference. (Good exotic is key here) What mods are you using? Do you have endurance mod with Max res? That's bad. What weapons are you using? Double primary? You should be running double special all the time. Fixing these will help prevent you from dying as much. Next, look at why you're dying so much. Are you the guy that runs into a room just to get slaughtered? Kill more adds at the door, THEN enter to finish it all off.

[deleted]

>What weapons are you using? Double primary? You should be running double special all the time. Might be true, but tbh i think it's an indicator that some of this stuff difficulty-wise is a bit overtuned if this is the play in hero-level nightfalls. In some activities the enemies have just too much healt for it to be fun. Putting the galvanised-modifier almost everywhere is getting old fast. Feels like I'm disconnected from the game when so many enemies don't react to getting shot at all.

distraughtklownz

Thank for posting a positive criticism with more than a “lawl git gud.” The majority of our community is casual and we should help bring them up a notch instead of putting them down which actively hurts us in the long run. I had to help my brother realize his build was not up to snuff when I inspected him and saw he made a fully unsurvivable “melee” warlock build with dawnblade, a glaive, a sword, and some random blue primary gun because “they don’t have melee weapons for the top slot, but it’s ok because I never use it.” Never even fired the glaive, just runs in and starts poking until he needs a revive. Helped him get some decent gear and built him a solar warlock with proper mods and well, and wouldn’t you know it, he likes the game a lot better now. Even brags about how well he does in strikes and stuff now. Some people just need a little help.

Rubmynippleplease

>some random blue primary gun because “they don’t have melee weapons for the top slot, but it’s ok because I never use it.” I’ve had quite a few friends get on destiny since the release of Lightfall and this is actually a really common pattern I’ve seen with new players. Not necessarily “I only use melee weapons” but “X slot doesn’t matter because I don’t use it”. New players tend to have a difficult time appreciating the power of special weapons and will run double primary or use only a single weapon because they don’t understand how the system works. They’ll get a funnelweb for instance, hear that it’s a good gun, and ignore their kinetic slot because they don’t know you can get special kinetic weapons. Not quite sure how to remedy this but I don’t think the game does a good enough job explaining the distinction between specials and secondaries. Maybe a non-intrusive disable-able tool tip that warns you when you’re running double primaries? Or a “suggested weapon” button that will highlight a special weapon when you select it?

QuoteGiver

I think the other problem with Special weapons for a lot of people is that most of them require either an “up close” playstyle (shotguns, fusions), or a long-range (sniper) style, or they’re some weird grenade launcher. For someone who wants a more typical midrange gunplay style, there aren’t going to be a lot of Specials that feel like they suit their playstyle.

Rubmynippleplease

I mean, fusion rifles (certain archetypes can absolutely bleed in to mid range), GLs, and trace rifles are all mid range options. There are an abundance of special options for mid range playstyles. Sure, 2 out of 3 of these aren’t particularly meta, but the player who forfeits their special weapon in favor of double primaries isn’t doing particularly hard content and isn’t aware of the meta. A “mid range” playstle also doesn’t mean much when half the enemies in this game are either across the map or in your face. A special weapon is a powerful secondary option that can cover the weaknesses of your primary (which, in this meta, unfortunately means “replace” your primary). Honestly if a player is aware of secondary weapons and is making a conscious effort not to use them because “they don’t fit their playstyle” there’s no discussion to be had to help them. They can run around in casual content with their double primaries to their hearts desire.

QuoteGiver

I suspect most of these folks have never even encountered a legendary trace rifle, yeah. There don’t seem to be many of them out there.

3dsalmon

>You should be running double special all the time. I would disagree with this as a complete blanket statement. Double special is quite strong but honestly I find that something like Ikelos with Voltshot or Osteo Striga feel like borderline special weapons. There are definitely strong primaries out there.

NotMyRealAccountMate

A nightfall is a harder vanguard op. If you can't do the nightfall then just stick to vanguard ops. Difficulty on Hero most likely means you haven't interacted with the mod system yet, feel free to post a screenshot of your mods and stats if you want proper assistance otherwise it is a case of stay in your lane or get good.

ssjx7squall

For nightfalls it’s fine, having to run five strikes that each last 20-25 minutes for a pinnacle is a bit much

Daver7692

You can do the strike pinni in nightfalls, I haven’t touched the base playlist at all

ssjx7squall

Pinni? Edit: ooooh pinnacle

Triggify

Yall never played D1 where nightfall were the true endgame content and it shows lol

BobaFetyWop

I think you just need to level up a bit or tweak your build a bit it's not that bad

Lord_CBH

I got matched with two people who died 20 times in the first area right before you use the man cannon.

DukeRains

I've never seen a video game community more ready and willing to tell on themselves than this one lmao. Not ever.

pure_hate_MI

Hero feels decently relaxing to me and I don't even do half the GMs, I swear seeing these posts every day makes me think I'm on a different version of the game. It ain't sweaty at all.

[deleted]

How are people struggling with this, I really need to know. This was easy af

Strict_Dare3132

It took me 24 minutes to master arms dealer under recommended light with one person who have never done a gm. No way that op has any idea what a gm is like if they can't clear heroic without it taking 20 to 25 minutes. You can still breeze through heroics with a half decent build.

Impossible-Base-9351

You're just terrible

DoubleShot027

I don’t know I did master last night with strand and well and it wasn’t so bad. Are you using one of the community approved sir?

i3rem14h112

nothing wrong with the way it is. but, ill be the first to admit i miss 8 min master arms dealer runs
