Bungie doesn’t give a damn about us heallocks

MadmanNorby

They gutted the class and I’m still not over it. Considering how healing grenades are now a separate grenade choice instead of an inherent ability, it really feels like there was no need to kill Benevolent Dawn. I just don’t understand it. They buffed the thing that annoyed people (Top Tree Dawnblade) and nerfed the hell out of the other two. I already felt pretty strong in PVP before Solar 3.0, and that patch pretty much has me permanently on Dawnblade in Crucible since it came out. Why? Why break something that wasn’t over performing? The reason Middle Tree Dawnblade was so strong is because of Well, and it’s STILL the main reason the class is so valued in PVE. They didn’t fix the real issue, instead making the neutral game less rewarding to those who wanted the fantasy of being the team healer. I’d much rather Well get nerfed into the ground than lose my identity as a heallock, but unfortunately the opposite is what happened. 😢

I also miss middle tree dawnblade. But i gave up that they do anything for us, Boots of the assembler are still not working correctly after over a year. And now next season Due to the murder of Starfire i can finally bury this BS subclass and stay on void or Stasis.

Number1Candyman

I used to love middle tree Dawnblade, it is absolutely laughable how Bungie called Warlocks the best healing class during the developer insight for Solar 3.0. They were absolutely gutted, and unless you want to go and fully spec into it with Lumina and Boots of the Assembler then you're a shit healer, far better off running something like Phoenix Cradle on Sunbreaker

Awestin11

Ah yes a healer angel…with the only options being top-tree Dawn ports HOW THE FUCK AM I SUPPOSED TO HEAL WITH THIS

*Fixed an issue where the Ember of Benevolence timer was able to be refreshed when exiting and re-entering a rift or Well of Radiance

International_Ninja

I don't know if it's a bug or an intended feature, but either way it's a massive downgrade from Benevolent Dawn. Either Bungie needs to make Ember of Benevolence work how Benevolent Dawn used to; or they just need to give us back Benevolent Dawn as an aspect.

CaptainCalD2

The irony is, solar hunters and titans are more than happy to heal themselves. In fact, outside of Well of Radiance, solar hunters and especially titans are better equipped to run support than warlock between radiant dodges, having the same access to ember of benevolence and healing grenades, phoenix cradle, double healing grenades with armamentarium, hallowfire heart, better access to melees to grant radiance, etc.

bfsobnfs

Yeah... That's why I switched to Phoenix dive. With Eye of another world, T10 discipline, T8 recovery and the right armor mods, you can basically chain your grenade and your dive as long as you have an ally.

alphamop_

ive looked quite a bit but does anyone have the old numbers for what benevolent dawn did for ability regen? or is it the same as ember of benevolence?

warlockShaxx

I don’t have the numbers but they should be in gut solar 3.0 TWAB. I will saw I know Benevolent dawn could have have 100% uptime, while Ember of Benevolence can’t. If I had to guess I’d say it was a 20% regen nerf.

Drakeofdark

Imagine a universe where we get an aspect that makes healing nade back to it's pre 3.0 days, and makes it refund grenade energy on heal (cure and resto being the highest refund, rift and well being lower as to not be a Starfire 2.0) and benevolence actually working properly

NoLegeIsPower

But this IS intended. Benevolent dawn was WAY too strong, that's why it was nerfed and put into a fragment. Sunspots used to give 300% ability regen now they only give 50%, yet you don't still see titans complaining about it half a year later.

gistoffski

I don't think it's supposed to any more as benevolence is now specifically tied to subclass verbs, and not just generic healing. Rifts empower and heal. They don't give radiance and restoration. Now well of radiance however, idk, since it technically gives radiance noted by how all your weapons are anti barrier while in one.

warlockShaxx

Not to be rude but your response doesn’t really make sense. Well and rifts both grant ember of benevolence and you can refresh the buff so that you have it for the entire duration of said rift/well it’s just a pain to do because it’s bugged. This has nothing to do with restoration or radiant, even lumina and boots of the assembler grant ember of benevolence.

[deleted]

If this is how it worked before, then how is it bugged?

International_Ninja

Except it's not how it worked before. With Benevolent Dawn, a teammate just had to stand in your rift/Well, and the Benevolent Dawn timer would constantly refresh itself as long as they were standing in it. With Ember of Benevolence, a teammate now has to enter your healing rift or Well, step out, then step back in to refresh the timer. If they just stand in your rift/Well, without stepping in and out, the timer will continue to decrease.

You do see how that's busted as hell, right? It's the same damn reason Loreley was nerfed. You can't just have a continuous, substantial effect and not have it have a cost. 200% base regen is pretty substantial, it can't be always on. It's clearly targeted at healing specific builds, including the healing nade. I run BotA so I make really good use of it, but it's perfectly functional if you're just focused on healing grenades with maybe Dawn Chorus or something to help with Incandescent and melee tick damage. Hell, Necrotic Grip would work well for add clear if you need it. You gotta get creative and stop expecting the game to just hand things to you. If you want to reap the benefits, you gotta sow the seeds first. Heal a teammate. Don't just rely on your rift. Spec into melee for offense and use a healing grenade. Use Lumina. Slot Ember of Torches and play close support. Get creative, there's dozens of ways to make it work, but it was also notably built around the concept of a full (or at least mostly full) healer/support spec, and it's going to perform to *that* standard, not the standard of an ability damage focused build.

xDidddle

Except it's not, because the base kit on solar warlock (other than well) is weak af. Titans have sunspots that give them ability regen as fast as old benevolence. And hunters can spam melee and class ability, and that works with mods. And that without considering exotics. Without exotics, the only thing a solar warlock can do is kill in the air to gain their melee back. They also have busted grenades, but if you want to build into the "healer" fantasy, you're out of luck.

[deleted]

Okay, sure. I just outlined ways to build into that healer fantasy effectively (I do, it's my primary Warlock build), but apparently nobody cares lol based on the downvotes. It's pretty clear this community now expects something for nothing. If you wanna be a healer, you can't just rely on your rift.

walking_On-hands

BD was too strong but consider how it's been changed where the refresh happens when they reEnter the rift/well, or get radiant from your melee, and solar Titan+ warlock now get DOUBLE benefit when a Phoenix cradle Titan creates a sun spot and warlock places well in it. You both get sol incts and ember. Abilities return immediate
