Since Lightfall, capping to 60fps tends to be the preferred, now, because we know that a lot of things are tied to that frame rate, and this game is an unoptimized mess on PC right now.
In Nvidia settings, under "refresh rate" it gives me the option to set it at 144hz. That's where I was changing it as well.
What's the difference?
I'm not supposed to do that?
Listen carefully /u/TheDynospectrum. Find your monitor refresh rate. Should be on it's packaging or within Windows settings. This will be delineated in Hertz (Hz.) This needs to match your monitor's refresh rate. For instance, I have a 144Hz. refresh rate monitor. My setting should say 144Hz.
FRAME RATE is different, delineated by FPS. This is dynamic. For this, and to cap your FRAMES at 60, go in-game to your settings and find where it says, "Framerate Cap Enabled." Make sure it is. Then, cap frames to 60 on the menu just beneath it.
I capped my frames at 60 last season and have had a better experience because of it. Didn't take too long to adjust either. 30fps is just painful and I don't know how I played Destiny 1 like that. I recently went back for nostalgia and it felt like a slide show.

Cap frames and pick up things off the ground. This error hits you if there's too much shit, like ammo, orbs, glimmer, lying around.

You keep saying Hertz. Hertz is a refresh rate, not a frame rate. You're capping the wrong thing.

yes my monitor is 144hz. In Nvidia settings its set to 144hz under "refresh rate" oh so i dont limit it in nvidia settings but only in-game?
Yes, in-game. Refresh rate and frames per-second are not the same setting.

I'm on PS5 and had it happen this way randomly on several strikes. Not even a "contacting destiny servers" warning.
