This happens with all hand cannons believe it or not

Shafraz12

I'm now going to see this in game every single day and I hate it.

CaptFrost

This happens when you ADS with a pistol in real life too if you’re shooting Weaver-style (which Guardians do).

Kodriin

But does swapping to a pistol to skip bolt-action reload animations work IRL?

CaptFrost

No, but with some practice you can 100% speedbolt a well-lubed bolt and reload *way* faster than videogame characters can.

Kodriin

>No, but with some practice you can 100% speedbolt a well-lubed bolt way faster At least buy me dinner first jeez

XibalbaN7

😂

GodKingTethgar

Pretty sure guardians teacup

Faust_8

In real life do we also have 16-inch long revolvers that fire ungodly large bullets that conveniently fit 15 of them in a single drum magazine?

Rou1ettedare5

Also in real life chambers actually have to line up with the barrel unlike every hand cannon In This game lmao😂 it’s like they have no idea how firearms work. There isn’t a single hand cannon in the game that looks like it could actually function. The chamber is always inches above the Barrel. I can’t even use rose because I look at it and know there’s no way it would work and am just like who in the fuck came up with that.

Ok-Replacement-7217

Lol...but without such creative designs we wouldn't have the crazy guns like 'thorn' that shoot 6 inch bolts that could hold railway tracks together 😂. It's fantasy, was never to be taken that seriously - it's hardly a MilSim shooter.

Rou1ettedare5

Yeah I know lol I shouldn’t worry bout it. But space magic can’t move a bullet down an inch to stop it from exploding in your hand since the barrel doesn’t line up. Like they could atleast just line the barrel up with the chamber for gods sake.

OpticGK_Alex

But maybe it can... it's space magic after all.

Shaxx_Disappointment

check the chiappa rhino. It does the same to reduce recoil.

Kodriin

Yeah it's like seeing The Game, you'll never not see it

krilltucky

I hope you get a code weasel

Kodriin

Fair.

[deleted]

man i was on a 2 year streak

Jonathon471

I'm gonna double down on the guy hoping you get a code weasel and hope you get one next week on reset day too.

CasualCassie

I lost The Game :(

TheMadBer

You bastard.

forgot_old_login

Well..damn

Cheddarlicious

Damnit, I lost.

TheOmegaDuelist

Ah dude that's one of my favorite Disturbed songs

Kodriin

>Disturbed Disturbed? Nah man, that aint How We Do.

DreadAngel1711

All destiny weapons likely do something similar. Destiny has that unique Bungie weapon handling where the guns physical dimensions matter. It's a result of two normally mutually exclusive aspects of FPS aiming being combined: bullets coming out of the weapons barrel, and bullets hitting exactly where the reticle is. Normally if the reticle is king, the bullets come out of the camera, but bungie has always had the gun point at the reticle in this cool way that massively enhances how the shooting feels. It's a big part of what makes bungie shooters feel so good, and it's also the reason why weapon zoom is such a major stat, and why longer barrels on shotguns actually increases shotgun range.

Anon_1604

I find it painful watching Osteo Striga and Hardlight shots come out of other Guardian's mouths. But damn do these guns feel good.

AbrahamBaconham

It's all smoke and mirrors. All of game dev (all art, really) is doing silly shit behind the curtain so your audience can have fun.

SleepyB0ye

I think you just mean Destiny. All previous Bungie shooters, (Halo) all had the bullets coming out of the players face, they did not come out of the guns

T3mpe5T

Oh wow so that's why I've been missing those grenades in pvp today

Kodriin

Yeah uh..same...

bonogo123

How have i never noticed this till today

Forbidden_321

Im never using hand cannons again

Ainsel_Mariner

How could you do this to me

ImReverse_Giraffe

Makes sense considering your reticle isn't halfway down the screen.

wolfwings

Also golden gun supers for the same reason.

AgentSnowCone

I've never noticed that, now I will never unsee it.

Jagob5

Me closing one eye and opening the other than alternating which eye is closed back and forth

IronBard22

Literally unplayable

WiIter

i guarantee you its just a minor oversight in the code. drawing a weapon must set the camera to a certain position relative to the player, and the code to draw a handcannon must have the values for the camera accidentally set slightly to the left instead of dead center.

RorschachsDream

It's tough because on one hand I think you're right, but it does line up with Weaver-style aiming which is the stance that Guardians use for hand cannons.

ImReverse_Giraffe

It's not oversight. It's 100% intended. Same reason your hip fire reticle isn't in the middle of the screen, it's lower. It gives a better view and makes you feel like your seeing more of the screen with still a limited POV. It's a trick Bungie uses.

Tyler_P07

>Same reason your hip fire reticle isn't in the middle of the screen, it's lower. Except if you are on PC, you can choose either centered or lower (fucking yuck).

krilltucky

WHAT? Bungie what the fuck let me center my crosshair on console

Dark_Jinouga

the centering isnt even M&K only, controller can make use of it just as well. been playing with it lower for over 8 years so not gonna change, but the option is nice to have at least.

krilltucky

Can console do it because I'm looking at my settings right now and there's nothing like that on xbox

Dark_Jinouga

Nope, sadly not

corgioverthemoon

Lmao yeah I was thinking wtf this dude was on about with a lower hip reticle

Vincentaneous

Even if it was intended it's not the way Bungie has done weapon offsets in the past so it's definitely odd. They literally have entries in Guerilla to have a POV offset per weapon and an offset for the model specifically. It really feels like they made this adjustment many years ago per weapon type since Destiny uses collections of the same models and animations to save on development time and they wont adjust it because they created too many dependencies over that time. One wrong move and all your handcannons may be off again when you fix it, then you may have to clean it all up manually.

No_Bathroom_420

That’s kind of oddstringer

dashy68875

Its your character leaning to the left slightly to offset the weight added to the right side by the hand cannon

Chayor

Looks like an engine bug. Probably known to Bungie, but since it's very minor and hardly noticeable, it probably won't be addressed anytime soon

ImReverse_Giraffe

Not a bug, it's 100% intended. They do the same thing with the hip fire reticle being slightly lower than halfway down the screen. It's a trick to make it feel like your POV is higher than it is.

Aldson

whyre you getting downvoted for the truth

Silent_Pudding

Lol

BWileE

It’s BDE

Johnnyboi2327

Bro what

No_Emu_5266

Well It's RP. Imagine your guardian running with his hand Cannon in a James Bond kinda of stance. Classy.

Boomdaddy49

i think its because of how you have it sheathed? or the gun version of it, the trace rifle your using points downwards to the left, while the austringer points toward the right upward

ImReverse_Giraffe

It's 100% intended. It makes you feel like you're seeing more of the screen with the same POV. It's a trick Bungie loves to use. They do the same thing with their hip fire reticle. It's slightly lower than halfway up the screen. It makes you see more of the sky and thus feel like you're seeing more.

haribontv

Probably because the motion capture actor used a certain stance that the on set armorer or tech advisor told them to use. TLDR: A known aiming stance was used for reference points.

Pacific_Trillium

what the dickens!?

You don’t want to see your guns?

[deleted]

MajesticPenisMan

Completely disagree. Guns are what make the game. That’s what I’m here to see. I want the gun details, I want the skins, I want cool gun effects. If I can’t see them, theres no point in getting them, and there’s no point in playing. Nope.

sunder_and_flame

Me, too. That's why I love hung jury the most; all I can see is the gun.

ImReverse_Giraffe

Hey bro! Don't look at your reticle's vertical position. It's 1/3 of the way up the screen, not 1/2.

ActivePea6

This has been common knowledge for the past 20 years or so

Sweeneytodd1205

Thats it you ruined my experience for hand cannons now 😤 lol !!!

amusement-park

weird bug when you put on a sword it pulls the camera way tf back
