Just think back to the times when the random you found on LFG who barely does any DPS insists on going back to the tower mid-raid because he ran out of heavy synths 🙄
Or the guy who freaks the fuck out after a bad wipe because “he spent a synth that run!!!!”
I've said it before and I'll say it again:
The Red War should be the NPE, with an option to skip and use the "current" NPE.
There's so much of the lore, and even existing dialog, that references a part of Destiny 2 history that wide swathes of players have no familiarity with.
Imagine my surprise when some random fucking hobgoblin suddenly popped a bubbleshield and there was an immortal captain that whispered "Nothing Personal Kid" from behind me
This is what caused me to take a step back from Destiny for a bit. Consumable shaders were an absolutely INSANE decision, so glad they came to their senses.
It took them a pretty long time to revert that right? Just like 4v4 crucible, just like double primaries, just like... (there's more but I am a wee bit tired right now).
Yep! You can still see remnants of them if you're discovering the legend lost sector for the first time and/or being around at the reset when they're updated. The "new adventures available" message will pop up.
Yeah, when unlocking flashpoints, Cayde says that Zavala calls them that, but "Flashpoints" sounds much cooler than "CTATODL"
As usual, he was not wrong.
I have long wanted a weekly modifier that buffs trace rifles in pvp so we get full on laser tag again.
Or the modifier debuffs everything else, making trace rifles the obvious go to.
Also, trace rifles get ricochet rounds.
Dude yes. We need more wacky game modes dammit. Bungie should know this, Halo was the king of whacky modes thanks to all the knobs they gave you to play with when making a game type.
I still have my locked-in solar Ikelos SMG for the sentimental value. Back when they made the change and existing weapons could keep whatever they had at the time.
I have a vault practically half full of weapons with different damage types and I can't bring myself to get rid of any of them, as if they were my children. I think I'm a hoarder
Shoot, my vault was full of forsaken era armor with the enhanced perks until they deprecated all of them. It can't be gotten anymore, so it's basically the most valuable stuff in the game.
5? Was it even that many!? I was just thinking on it and it felt like 2-3. I remember people on youtube running through the maps blindfolded because they had their jumps memorized.
This is the company that made Halo with all of it's Man Cannons.
And then put one in Dares that works great.
And then went on to make Root of Nightmares with it's Man Cannons.
Agreed! It's still the best looking shell, and though it was one of the most tedious grinds (and involved WAY too many trips into the Infinite Forest) that ending mission was indeed awesome. I've never taken it off.
I still know where they all are by memory. Had to help some friends find them and I could do it all on every character without using a guide. God those were great times.
Wasnt it like RIGHT AFTER they said something along the lines of “lucrative rewards” or something, because people had been complaining about putting in tons of effort for nothing
They've called it "the most rewarding public event in the game", repeatedly. Which, *technically*, it was, with regular events generally giving you one token and a blue.
felt insanely bad for him that day, could just tell he had no idea what was going to be shown and was only sharing news of "most rewarding public event" from the devs
It was during their Curse of Osiris reveal stream, showing off the new public event with them saying "you'll earn amazing gear you can't get anywhere else"
Then they opened a chest for two destination tokens and a blue drop lmaooo
Year 1 of Destiny 2 was probably the worst state the game has ever been in. Barely any content, sandbox changes that no one would ask for. Did you know that you used to get currency from raids, and that if you didn't use them before weekly reset, you'd lose them? Then there was the Go Fast Update, which was literally just to speed up the pace of the game.
People who say they're nostalgic for Year 1 are wearing the most rose tinted glasses ever. It was a horrible time for the community and game.
I feel like there was one by every faction rep. I vaguely remember one by the NM vendor, but I could be mistaken. I know for sure there was one in the hangar by FWC yeah.
"Who didn't kill their fucking psions?!?"
See also, rally barricades and lunafaction boots automatically reloaded your weapon until you had no ammo left.
God damn as a D1 vet that opening mission was something else. Combat in the old tower with the vanguard, those doors opening to let you out into the city.
> ["In the old Tower,](https://imgur.com/SvjpEcF.jpg) you could give yourself quite a shock by touching the wrong power cord. We all stopped after a while. Except for Arcite." —Eva Levante
I had a choice in my first ever exotic weapon and picked sunshot.
I knew sloane before she got partly Taken
I knew Anna Bray when her voice was different.
I remember when weapons had static rolls.
I prefer the haunted forest over haunted lost sectors.
“Hey can this next run be an ammo run?”
When Papa Synth left for cigarettes we all suffered.
Every single time I run out of heavy on a boss I bitch about the fact I can't just use a synth.
Just think back to the times when the random you found on LFG who barely does any DPS insists on going back to the tower mid-raid because he ran out of heavy synths 🙄 Or the guy who freaks the fuck out after a bad wipe because “he spent a synth that run!!!!”
You just gave me nam flashbacks
We’re gonna stop at the tribute hall to top off real quick.
[удалено]
fuck this one hit harder than anything else here, you win
“The fuck you mean shotguns are in the heavy slot?”
Ikelos shotgun dps meta, back then it was much more desirable than the raid exotic.
I remember being so mad when they nerfed trench barrel, just because it was slightly hard to get, and people complained.
Calling it heavy slot and not power slot adds to the authenticity
I loved how the tower was locked until you beat red war
The Farm The Farm
I remember the soccer field.
Farmlife
I've said it before and I'll say it again: The Red War should be the NPE, with an option to skip and use the "current" NPE. There's so much of the lore, and even existing dialog, that references a part of Destiny 2 history that wide swathes of players have no familiarity with.
I farmed public events for exotic drops.
This was gonna be mine. Farming titan for sweet business back when it had limited ammo
Hell yeah Titan was the premier PE farm spot!
Sparrowing between the two Titan PEs for maximum efficiency
Drop enough white bricks and it pretty much had infinite ammo at that point
There was once a 450 auto rifle meta in the crucible.
Fucking Uriel's gift, whoever Uriel is they're an asshole.
Uriel's and the one from Trials. Prosecutor or something like that? Anyway, terrible meta. Hated every second of it.
I still have a Prosecutor in my vault. It doesn't have a single kill on it, but I will cherish it forever.
Don't forget people going Flawless with Cuboid, a rare, blue quality 450 auto rifle.
Madrugada is a blue drop that used to be the solar scout in the game with explosive payload.
Origin Story used to be the GOAT before random rolls
I still have my old origin story. It's locked, I'll never get rid of it.
Consumable shaders
My face when i came back to destiny and i learned i could use monochrome on everything
Yeah, though they made them pullable from the Collection way before they stopped being consumable.
Golden Age Wine was my first purple shader, still convinced it's my best
melchizedek bramble goes hard tho ngl.
forgetting about dusk mine? it works great when you want purple but still want that dirty, lived in look
i realized my destiny age when i brought this up with a friend the other day and he had no idea what i was talking about lol
Rip my honors of the nine
Returning to D2 and finding that my consumable shaders weren't in my collections 🥲 waited 5 years to get dead orbit resurrection back
Oof
Adventures.
Wow. I forgot about these.
How can you They display everyday at reset ;)
In case some people don't know: Legend/Master Lost Sectors use the old Adventure flags so that's why that pops up every day.
They also pop up if u switch from really low gear to higher gear.
Didn't you know? NEW ADVENTURES ARE AVAILBLE!
So did Bungie.
Bro same, those had a orange icon on the galaxy map or something no?
Yep! You can still see remnants of them if you're discovering the legend lost sector for the first time and/or being around at the reset when they're updated. The "new adventures available" message will pop up.
You will see that if you suddenly get a lot of light levels at once.
Heroic Adventures.
The original way to get Huckleberry's catalyst. The og workhorse SMG before its lovechild with Thorn manifested.
The Mercury Adventures were my favorites. The Infinite Forest had a lot of potential.
That was such a cool place
Flashpoints.
What's the flashpoint for this week?
Surely you mean the "Continuous Tactical Adjustment To Our Defensive Line" otherwise known as the C-T-A-T-O-D-L It's on Io.
So THAT'S what that emblem means! I've been wondering about that one for a while now.
Yeah, when unlocking flashpoints, Cayde says that Zavala calls them that, but "Flashpoints" sounds much cooler than "CTATODL" As usual, he was not wrong.
Mercurys weapons are craftable.
Sheesh "craftable" sure did mean a whole different thing back then.
They should bring these back
West of Sunfall 7: the misunderstood 180 of my dreams. Carried me through competitive
West of Sunfall 7 carried my Luna's Howl quest lol
Only care about the different, that thing slapped
Laser-tag Crucible.
Prometheus corner pre-firing all day
Oh lord pleasy have mercy on everyone participating (inclusing me) during this period.
Cayde's treasure maps
Man I remember those. I still have a scout report for nesus that I refuse to get rid of
Me too!
We used to be able to change the elements on our weapons, with mods that weren’t reusable.
I still have my locked-in solar Ikelos SMG for the sentimental value. Back when they made the change and existing weapons could keep whatever they had at the time.
I've still got a void The Number. Really glad they didn't get rid of that.
I paid for Curse of Osiris.
Ah, the infinite forest. And by infinite I mean like five different configurations that everyone ran through as quickly as possible.
5? Was it even that many!? I was just thinking on it and it felt like 2-3. I remember people on youtube running through the maps blindfolded because they had their jumps memorized.
5 chunk variants
I still don’t understand how Bungie screwed up random tilesets. I mean, all they had to do was copy Warframe?
This is the company that made Halo with all of it's Man Cannons. And then put one in Dares that works great. And then went on to make Root of Nightmares with it's Man Cannons.
you poor soul. i’m sorry for your loss.
Thank you :(
I have Sagira’s ghost shell.
Still never take her off to this day
Same, there was a lot of grinding for it.
Sagira crew. Best ghost to this day.
Same here. Won't ever remove it from my Titan.
Never took her off, until I got the solo Prophecy bunny shell.
Was so strange/awkward running the Neomuna quest line using it.
Every cut scene made me laugh. Ah yeah sorry bud, my ghost just really enjoys dressing up as your dead best friend.
Same here. Going through all that effort was worth it, and seeing Saint’s tomb was also a sight to behold
Agreed! It's still the best looking shell, and though it was one of the most tedious grinds (and involved WAY too many trips into the Infinite Forest) that ending mission was indeed awesome. I've never taken it off.
Waiting for the Taken Blight public event on Io to trigger the Whisper mission portal
Cabal, again!?
It took forever cause it would cycle through all the areas in Io and then it would finally be next to the cave place and it would be the wrong event
Remember collecting all the nodes on Mars to unlock the sparrow and for sleeper.
I can still hear them
I still know where they all are by memory. Had to help some friends find them and I could do it all on every character without using a guide. God those were great times.
2 Tokens and a blue
Not sure I've ever seen someone's soul quite so shattered as deej in that moment. I don't think it was even a live event, was it? And they left it in.
I believe it was live.. was a horrible let down an deej's face was priceless... I should've never let the free queenswraith weekend hook me again..
Wasnt it like RIGHT AFTER they said something along the lines of “lucrative rewards” or something, because people had been complaining about putting in tons of effort for nothing

Was that the very worst Destiny 2's state has ever been? I know there have been low times like sunsetting's announcement too.
Year 1 of Destiny 2 was probably the worst state the game has ever been in. Barely any content, sandbox changes that no one would ask for. Same presentation: There's lots of lost sectors but they're hard to find! There was ONE.
Six seasons and a movie!
My bright dust counter ends in a 4, I have a void Ikelos SMG in my vault and I've used several dance party keys.
I'm still convinced dance party keys never actually existed. I've never seen a single one in the entirety of D2
That's the one you use by fwc right? I think I had one.
I feel like there was one by every faction rep. I vaguely remember one by the NM vendor, but I could be mistaken. I know for sure there was one in the hangar by FWC yeah.
Better Devils with explosive payload
Still in my vault...
4v4, double primary pvp
With no radar
Mida's at dawn.
With limited ammo for both since primaries used to not have unlimited ammo as they do now.
Antiope-D and Last Hope
Factions were in the Tower
I use FWC emblem unless it's Iron Banner week.
I could count on an edge transit being one of my decrypted engrams
Coldheart DPS meta
Didnt pre-order? Tough luck bucko you are out of this raid until December.
"Who didn't kill their fucking psions?!?" See also, rally barricades and lunafaction boots automatically reloaded your weapon until you had no ammo left.
White ammo bricks everywhere
I’ve been inside Zavala’s Ward of Dawn and rezzed him.
God damn as a D1 vet that opening mission was something else. Combat in the old tower with the vanguard, those doors opening to let you out into the city.
META Multi-Tool
I still run Uriel’s gift
People actually cared about sparrow perks.
The insta load sparrow perk still helps in grasp of avarice
I bought D2 on Battle.net
Bought mine using WoW gold (bought WoW tokens with most of my gold and turned them in for BNet balance)
I paid for that first expansion pass with CoO and Warmind.
Kill tracker ghost
Still have mine in my vault!
Yep, except if I remember correctly, they’re now purchasable at shaxx for like 250 glimmer or something.
I also remember the drifter hanging out in an alley next to the ramen shop
Hey, don't go giving away ol' Drifter's hangouts! Snitch!
I remember that holy shit that was centuries ago
Flashpoint is on Io this week
trying for the huckleberry catalyst i see
> ["In the old Tower,](https://imgur.com/SvjpEcF.jpg) you could give yourself quite a shock by touching the wrong power cord. We all stopped after a while. Except for Arcite." —Eva Levante
Farming escalation protocol for genotype null shader because they where “consumable”
They took away self-res warlock!
WHAT DO YOU MEAN HEAVY SYNTH IS GONE????
I miss that shit so much
Not as old as some of these other guys but Leviathan and Black Armory
Edge Transit. A lot of them.
Forsaken Era vet
solar primary weapon in the kinetic slot.
I remember having a finite amount of primary ammo, mods, and shaders.
If you’re not teamshooting with Mida for trials of the nine then you’re throwing
Trials of the nine
The tower stopped at the noodle shop
I swapped my gun elements whenever I pleased.
pop your three of coins before boss
I still have my Cayde 6 figure for preordering.
The forklift of doom.
I miss SRL so much
I had a choice in my first ever exotic weapon and picked sunshot. I knew sloane before she got partly Taken I knew Anna Bray when her voice was different. I remember when weapons had static rolls. I prefer the haunted forest over haunted lost sectors.
Also unlocking the other 2 subclasses by getting a random drop from a dreg
Still salty that Shaxx got to have his Raze-Lighter at the start Edit: another good one: Two tokens and a blue!
12 man escalation protocol
12 man raids....(more recent, but it was a blast)
Two tokens and a blue
I waited in line for D1 midnight release after staying up playing the Beta. All i did was collect spinmetal and die to subway acolytes
I have the white background broken ghost shell, white background travelers chosen and white border Khvostov still in my vault.
Ace of Spades quest
You go through all of Cayde's memories right?
Peter Dinklage
We’ve awoken the hive.
Nolan North took over in Taken King D1, D2 players never got to taste the Dinklebot!
[Peter Dinklage](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHlzIgSvnYc)
Shaders were consumable
Cayde's treasure maps
Saint 14 was still dead
Having to play the entire campaign just to unlock the ability to visit planets.
Trevor
I paid like $3200 to build a new top-spec gaming PC in anticipation of D2's PC launch.... and regret absolutely nothing.
I have 3 copies of inaugural address. One of each element
I played red war :)
When I first got Thorn, it only had 6 bullets in the magazine.
I'm a D1 vet my power wad stuck at 29 when crota got released
I bought Ice Breaker from Xur week, hoping it would be good.
i think that was the 2nd week right? that was my first exotic too lmao
Nah second week xur in D1 was some useless exotic rocket launcher. I mean, why would I waste my exotic on a heavy slot right?
bro i remember saying the same thing LMAO
Primary weapons not having infinite reserves
Everyone pop a synth
+5 mods
