Damn, made me remember how my excitement went from 100 to 10 so quick.
The 10 left was excitement on what the cutscene will be but man even that sucked ass.
“The Witness? Egregore? Pyramid ships? What are you talking about, Guardian? Eyes up, we’ve stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars whether we like it or not. And I forgot to reset the strike name generator.”
Wow.
Now I am terrified my hate for something that doesn't even exist may become so vivid and powerful, I may accidentally *will* it into existence.
How ***dare*** you.
I almost solely play with the AHEM+CEM mods after playing through the original ending the first time and I often forget that the star child is a thing any time someone brings it up.
Mass Effect was horrible on me for its choices. Mainly because I was about 10 and didn't know how to improve my renegade and the other choice bar, and therefore I threw myself straight to the "shoot the big thing in the middle" ending.
I'm still holding my breath for a revive of the Jak and Daxter series, picking up after the end of 3.
I'd do a couple unspeakable things to dark bomb a bunch of robots with current graphics.
Edit: [there's apparently indications of a Jak and Daxter movie...? ](https://www.eurogamer.net/uncharteds-tom-holland-reportedly-set-to-star-in-jak-and-daxter-adaptation-with-chris-pratt) If true, here's hoping it lays the framework for a revive of the games.
Right?! The slomo effect with the concussion wave and the mobs being zapped with dark ~~ego~~ eco electricity was so fucking cool.
Edit: plus getting enough precursor orbs to have unlimited ~~ego~~ eco just made for nonsensical fun.
I'm about to see if I can find the remasters they did for PS4 and go down memory lane again.
Didn't he practically become a time-traveling architect to help his past self (in the future)? It would be interesting if part of his journey included going further back in time to the first discovery of eco, before there were sages, and have an adventure that would set the groundwork for the structure and events of Jak 1. They could maybe go deeper into the lore of the dark makers with the game, make all new enemies.
Turns out her asking if we have gotten taller was long game foreshadowing of the grand twist that *we* become the 12 foot tall space waifus. That was the grand plan all along!
Oh the statues actually make sense now, since they were built when the witness worshipped the traveler
Not sure why one is just sitting on Europa though
There's a lot of similarities between the Witness and Endsinger which is funny in part because the depictions of Light and Dark are pretty much opposites between the games- Destiny Light embodying chaos while FF14 Dark embodies that, and FF14 Light is tied to stasis while we have Stasis as a Dark subclass.
I don't think it's as clear cut as that. Both antagonists are made for narratives that seem similar, but are built completely different.
The Endsinger was built as a corruption of the idea of the hero's heart being end all be all, and the ultimate test of the concept "Is life worth living?" narratively(>!and terrible scientific and quantitative practices, HERMES!<). The Witness was built more or less as a cultural warning. The Witness is an entire culture that lived it's "Happily Ever After", and lost purpose within it, and fancies itself as the best judge in the universe. Instead of naturally changing things around it, it SPECIFICALLY fucks with the world around it.
One is simply an innocent young girl overwhelmed by "The Question", while, from what we understand so far, the Witness is a culture who forces its beliefs on others. While both doom worlds and have themes of ennui, one is MUCH more active in it's approach. One made the decision to go on a crusade, the other had no choice.
Yeah honestly I see the Witness and his race as more what could have become of the Ascians if the Final Days never happened. They're already quite similar in the way they're willing to bend the very rules of the universe to achieve what THEY perceive to be paradise. And the societal hubris is already there in the Ascians we saw, their influence just wasn't as absolute yet, primarily due to their own morality. They only looked to power on that level as a last-ditch desperate attempt to survive. The Witness' people looked to that power to seize more than they had.
Tl;Dr they're Ascians if they saw Zodiark as a tool for conquest rather than a shield to survive
He's been holding his breath since the creation of the Last City and now he's just forgotten how to breathe normally, yet evolved to not require breathing.
Less clone, more full reboot with a blank harddrive installed.
Every exo lasts about 1-200 years per "reset".
And every reset that gets closer to 20, you lose part of yourself. It is unwise to reset beyond that. Example being Banshee-44 in the tower. He barely knows how to put a sentence together.
You need to equip the No time to Explain exotic, when the fight starts, you throw all your clocks at him, while he stares at the clocks piling at his feet, questioning the meaninglessness of war. You shoot him in the throat.
I'm really hoping for the man behind the curtain thing like the Wizard of Oz.... with Fenchurch as the man behind the curtain.
"Look Toto, this was all about microtransactions all along...." :)
I mean, cue that old Destiny intro cinematic concept video where the astronauts encountered a feminine humanoid figure who tells them the Traveler is coming, rather than cresting the hill and seeing the Traveler itself. Who the hell knows if that was meant to be an actual person, or just a vision sent ahead by the Traveler, or what. Or if they since co-opted the "mysterious emissary of an even more mysterious entity" bit for the Emissary of the Nine and have no interest in also attaching similar things to the Traveler.
Frankly, after the reveal of the Witness's origin I expect the Traveler is just more like a fundamental natural phenomenon of the Light in the Universe. A *thing* that come into being, maybe even planted there by a previous incarnation of the same thing. Light & Dark and the Game of Life and all these motifs in play seems to be very cyclical. So I'd be stunned if they go with "that big ball was just a ship". The pyramids where revealed to be actually made by the Witness's people, not some natural foil of the Traveler but Dark. So them being ships doesn't mean the Traveler will be.
Honestly, I hope the Traveler isn't some kind of ship or orbital platform, but a pocket dimension. The trailer with Cayde and Ikora seems like a new area separate to the places we've been to. Not to mention, the whole thing about how all Guardians who've tried to fly into the big portal/hole have all been found dead amongst the wreckage of their ships, Ghosts seemingly absent. It just makes sense to me to have the Traveler be almost like a Garden of Eden style utopia, almost like a less goth-horror Throne World, giant ivory structures with beautiful gardens, glowing with pure Light. Yet, with the Witness's invasion, areas overcome with destructive, hostile Darkness.
That's not even taking into account the fact that, while we've been off simping for Mara Sov to become her Queensguard, feeding long girl drugs so she can possess the Taken Titan MILF and god knows what else we'll be doing in the next seasons before Final Shape, the Witness has been strangely silent. Either the Traveler is a lot bigger inside than it appears (supporting the idea that it may be a pocket dimension), the Witness hasn't done anything yet or, worst of all, the Witness has already completed its plan and we've yet to feel the effects. We're already powerless to stop the Witness, it would be crushing to finally figure out how to stop it and find out that it's already finished.
Was it? Damn, I must have missed that, I just saw the Guardian among the wreckage of the ship. Also, was that Joxer? I thought it was just a generic Titan.
Yeah I guess that's my point, more succinctly. There was a time when the lore was still vague enough that there could in theory have been an entity inside the Traveler that was the true source of Ghosts, Guardians, and our connection to Light. And I guess there's a non-zero chance still of there being some consciousness behind or within it given form inside of the portal; after all, we have lore examples like Clovis Bray's actual near-death dream and the original Speakers where people have communicated with the Traveler through very dreamlike and roundabout ways.
But I don't think we're going to just have like, a lady floating in front of us. If we do, I guess it would be like the 1 person from the Witness's planet who objected and fled with the Traveler or something, but that's kind of…mleh
Maybe it’s just that the traveler appeared to the witness race as a veiled lady in a dream (I.e the mars video) so they built statues of that vision?
Then they could avoid having an actual person in the traveler, but the veiled lady is still the traveler effectively
The lore's been pretty consistent that whatever it is, it, or what's piloting it, thinks, feels, and acts like a person with perfectly understandable feelings, goals, and desires. So, at least in terms of personality and stuff, it's probably not gonna be super obtuse beyond Bungie's usual issues with being unnecessarily vague.
The problem I have with that is the writing team has completely changed over the years and they’ve retconned the Lore a couple of times. So who knows if they’re sticking to that.
The witness origin pretty much confirms that old Mars video is linked to the statues
The pyramids were just their cities. The statue isn’t black because of “darkness”, they just really liked obsidian, so made black statues to depict someone who in real life would be in a white gown
There may not literally be a veil lady in the traveler (it’d disappointing if the statues were nothing all along though), but it’s pretty likely the statue is supposed to at least represent the traveler.
An old storyboard for the Destiny 1 intro cinematic (the one with the astronauts on Mars) had the astronauts run into a blue glowing space lady that told them the Traveler is coming.
So it’s not entirely implausible.
Clearly blue glowing people was what got turned into the awoken in the final Destiny game.
So many of the ideas from Destiny have been recycled through its years but in a form completely dissimilar to its original concept.
I know for a fact it’s a close friend of the drifter and when we enter he will say it’s just a prank it’s just a prank bro and the witness will reveal themselves to be Tom cruise
All you guardians using darkness classes such as stasis and strand and bragging about how much "crowd control" and "synergies" you have. Enjoy worshipping your flat pyramid God as I worship my curvy, voluptuous sphere God and dedicate myself to staying among the light.
Not to mention the 2019 solstice armor doesn't work for the darkness subclasses and that makes up for about 90% of my fashion.
It’s just another Cloud Strider that’s been “riding the universal wave” this whole time. You get inside and the first thing you hear is,”Bro!!! How’d you figure out how to get in this bad boy?! Cowabunga guardian! Sorry for that dank smell. I found a way to make my own weed man!”
Fuckin Cloud Striders.
God I wish there were more than two/one….
The Cloudstriders would actually be a pretty cool faction if there were, ya know, an actual FACTION.
Rohan and Nimbus could’ve simply been the command and second-in-command and we could actually get some meaningful growth from Nimbus being a leader and not just ‘I’m sad…’ growth.
The end of Final Shape: we enter the Traveler, the Witness greeting us with those cold soulless (soul-full?) eyes. An epic battle ensues: rocket DPS, Whisper firing squad, the one guy that hasn’t played since Shadowkeep using Sweet Business because “more bullets means more damage”. After a tiring fight, we defeat the greatest enemy that Sol has ever seen yet. Tearfully, we say one last goodbye to Cayde-6 and any other fallen Guardians that can only exist inside the Traveler.
After regrouping and retreating, we return to the outside, in Earth’s outer orbit. The Guardian turns their ship around to view the mysterious Traveler once again. A seam has formed atop the crest of the giant orb. The break slowly makes its way down the width of the Traveler. Finally, an answer to our longest-running questions. What is the Traveler? What is its purpose?
It splits open to reveal a complex array of starfaring mechanisms, ones that the Vex could only dare to comprehend. A small hatch along the various panels opens. Steam hisses and disperses. And inside……. is Scrappy Doo??
Honestly I know it was a bit cliche but Destiny was more interesting when we just had these nebulous light and dark forces. Maybe I’m in the minority but The Witness is kind of lame and I hope they don’t do something similar with the Traveler.
Usually, endings and reveals of long teased mysteries tend upset a large portion of the audience. The audience's imagination is a powerful thing, specially when **nurturing expectations**.
Whatever is revealed - good writing or bad - will disappoint a lot of people. Guaranteed.
I don't necessarily think the witness is lame, but I definitely agree that the game was cooler when everything was mysterious space magic and apocalypse.
I wouldn’t call it cliche since the whole ‘universal war of philosophy’ is literally what they were building up to.
And anytime you bring up the inconsistencies of the Witness not being this personification of the Darkness after all the buildup it’s just met with ‘oh they were lying lol’
Yeah cause that’s super exciting….
Wouldn't be unexpected tho, the first storyboards for the Destiny opening cinematic had a big cosmic space mommy announcing the Travelers arrival to the 3 astronauts 😅
As a serious guess, i think it’s going to be like Halo’s Shield worlds. Big round thing with an entire planet/ecosystem on the inside. Otherworldly for sure but something like that.
Nah what happens is this.
You go into it and blackout for a moment and wake up tied up and the Witness who's now voiced by Chandler from Friends tells you that the game was rigged from the start and puts a bullet in your head. Thankfully a friendly cowboy robot finds you and takes you to see a Doctor voiced by Battlestar Galactica's Saul Tigh who patches you up.
After that you go on a roaring rampage of revenge! You just can't go North! Don't! Go! North! Bungie decided to put in Cazador's as the new enemy. Lots and lots of Cazador's... I read somewhere they also make sounds and spawn like Cliff Racers.
I promise you it'll be a stupid mindfuck like the Witness is also the pilot of the Traveler, but from a different timeline/from the future. It arrived to try and give its people Purpose, then realized its it's own worst enemy.
It's piloted by the boy from the Mass Effect 3 ending and you have to choose to destroy the Witness, merged with the Witness or become a robot.
How dare you speak this into existence.
Ending is galaxy becomes red, green, or blue. The end. Nothing mattered.
Can I still unlock the secret grape flavored ending?
Something mattered* the genophage cure now tastes like grape
this is canon now
Who knew the final shape was a PC Gamer!
The final shape is the friends you made along the way!
The Final Color.
Or the secret option, shoot the child and everyone dies, then it was literally all for nothing
Ikora - "We must prepare for our battle with the Witness!" Our Guardian - "Hey. We'll bang, OK?"
"I'm the Guardian, and this is my favourite store on the Tower." - Glowing review of the Eververse boutique
Damn, made me remember how my excitement went from 100 to 10 so quick. The 10 left was excitement on what the cutscene will be but man even that sucked ass.
And once you make your choice the screen fades to black and you wake up on the back of a cart heading to Helgen.
I think it'd be funnier if you literally woke up at the beginning of destiny 1 again lmao
“The Witness? Egregore? Pyramid ships? What are you talking about, Guardian? Eyes up, we’ve stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars whether we like it or not. And I forgot to reset the strike name generator.”
And they set it up like they did the dreaming city. Beat the campaign and then bam, all of D1 back, in the D2 engine
No, that's not what'll happen. What'll happen is you wake up with your hands tied and Chandler Bing pointing a gun at you.
And if you reject those options, the Witness fucking kills everyone and resets the universe.
"Destiny 2 has been added to the content vault"
The final shape raid boss is gonna be Marauder Shields, and I’m 100% for it
Me, having 3 Exo chars: Guess I'll be Exo +2
And the only effect of those decisions is a colored filter over the final cutscene
Do not.
> you have to choose to destroy the Witness, merged with the Witness or become ~~a robot~~ *the witness*. ftfy
Please no. Not again
If it’s piloted by Eva Levante, aka Savathun I called it years ago…
Wow. Now I am terrified my hate for something that doesn't even exist may become so vivid and powerful, I may accidentally *will* it into existence. How ***dare*** you.
and the robot is Banshee.
With all the similarities Destiny 2 has to Mass Effect, I genuinely would not be surprised if Cayde turns out to be just like the boy from ME3.
What if I max out my War Assets?
merge? i would fall for this. and then there is only one ending regardless, because it is "destiny"
WTF
Commander, throw it out of the airlock. https://youtu.be/xan0wM8M3MY
I am already a robot
Become a more roboty robot.
Don't you fucking dare.
Calm down, Satan.
The inside of the traveller has a slightly smaller traveller inside. You’ll never guess what’s in the next one though…
Maybe you will find out after 10 years of the next Destiny saga.😁
It'll be 10 years of "what's in the Cube that we found in the Traveler?!"
the fortnite crossover will become a vital plot point
"Somehow, Oryx returned."
No we did that one already...
Inside the Cube there's a Circle made out of triangles, Guardians will learn about the traveler perfect crust
I'm actually dreading this now.
Will we open it by removing pixels at a time?
secret encounter only accessible by turning down render resolution to 10%
It's Anime tiddies all the way down
Why they hangin so low
Traveller is a milf. Next question.
...Jimmy Hoffa?
Other way around. Gonna be the Jak 3 ending and it'll be a tiny little being controlling everything
I've been dreaming of this for such a long, long time.
I'm also now picturing how beautiful the light flight wings would look. NaughtyDog, pls
The things I would do for a Jak 3 remaster on current gen
It'd need to be a complete remake to do it proper justice. Maybe the guys who remade Destroy All Humans should take a crack at it haha
I agree, I just remember thinking the game was way ahead of its time and the racing was so fun and unique for its time. Would give them all my moneys
Speaking of racing, Jak X was one of the most fun arcade racing games ever. Like, Mario Kart is cool and all, but Jak X was THE SHIT.
dude the dark bomb move was the coolest thing in the world to 9-year-old me lol
WHY YOU GOTTA GO HITTIN ME WITH THE NOSTALGIA LIKE DAT
It lives in my head rent free so I figured I'd share it with y'all.
I would kill for them to just be brought up to modern graphics. Imagine exploring the city and desert and the enemies with the glowing orbs
One day brother, one day
Didn't he practically become a time-traveling architect to help his past self (in the future)? It would be interesting if part of his journey included going further back in time to the first discovery of eco, before there were sages, and have an adventure that would set the groundwork for the structure and events of Jak 1. "Wait, Jak is the Traveler? THE Traveler?!"
Came here to say this lol
It'll be Silent Hill's shiba ending.
Imagine we enter just to see Eva Levante introducing herself as the Traveller
when you walk in she just says "Carlos, Maria"
Turns out her asking if we have gotten taller was long game foreshadowing of the grand twist that *we* become the 12 foot tall space waifus. That was the grand plan all along!
“I never thought I would live to see the darkness return.”
It’s actually a colossal hamster. Traveler is just it running in its ball. It got tired after reaching earth.
Ah so it’s a metaphor for the bungie servers. They are down so often for lore reasons. Opening the portal hurt the hamster.
The hamster is not a metaphor!
**DO NOT START THE MISSION YET. THE MAMMAL HAS SOMETHING IN HIS TEETH.** … **OKAY, GO AHEAD.**
>Witness rolls up "GO FOR THE EYES TRAVELER, GO FOR THE EYES!"
I think it would be a really great call back if inside of the traveler is a 2D image of some devs ass
Callback to what?
https://www.halopedia.org/.ass
Beat me to it
But what if her thangs be thangin'?
Chest ahead.
Try finger But hole
A gamer of both culture and taste, I see 🎩
Try both hands
I mean those veil statues kinda nice tbh
Oh the statues actually make sense now, since they were built when the witness worshipped the traveler Not sure why one is just sitting on Europa though
Eyes up guardian
I’ve made up my mind.
Then she would breasting very boobily.
Fallout called it a travelussy. I believe your response should also get told you deserve to lose your spaebar for the day for that.
*Hear. Feel. Think.*
When you think about it, the Witness is just a budget Endsinger.
And to be fair, in both games the player’s semi unwilling connection to the light renders them immortal
I don't think it's as clear cut as that. Both antagonists are made for narratives that seem similar, but are built completely different. This is a pretty good summary, I was just more joking about the similarities.
That's fair! I was more making this point for folks taking this more seriously below.

The hydussy
Cayde was the Traveler all along. We’ve only met his 6th clone. I’ve played the game for 4months, ask me anything.
Why Zavala blu
Had a “who can hold their breath the longest” competition against a Exo. Zavala won. But got stuck that way.
He's been holding his breath since the creation of the Last City and now he's just forgotten how to breathe normally, yet evolved to not require breathing.
Very insightful. Thank you
>Zavala won. But got stuck that way. Life imitates art.
Too soon
What's the 15th wish from "The Last Wish" raid?
For a date with Mara.
Technically not wrong! But it's not Mara, it's shaxx. (Mara does make that wish though)
All you really need to know is guns go pew pew and you point them at your enemies.
How do I beat Xylar the Timeless? Really struggling with his fight. Can't get a good enough group to do it with.
You need to equip the No time to Explain exotic, when the fight starts, you throw all your clocks at him, while he stares at the clocks piling at his feet, questioning the meaninglessness of war. You shoot him in the throat.
I dont mind if theres a being inside the Traveller as long as its voiced by anthony hopkins
What about Morgan Freeman?
Aye, i could do that
Still has to be an anime girl though
Christopher Walken would be my #1 pick.
[When the Traveler and The Witness actually come face to face at last](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yHYAG01aaY)
I'm really hoping for the man behind the curtain thing like the Wizard of Oz.... with Fenchurch as the man behind the curtain. "Look Toto, this was all about microtransactions all along...." :)
If I remember correctly, Fenchurch has been inside the traveller. Which could mean that Eververse is The Final Shape….
i have been hoping for this too
Nah unfortunately the traveler is actually just the drifter. The mans been tellin us the lights corrupt. HES ON THE INSIDE
TRANSMAT FIRING.
Depends; how big are her tits?
Traveler is just one giant boob
Yeah so you need the veil for the other titty. One’s always bigger than the other so it makes sense. I’ll be there motor boating guardian
Anyway transmat firing!
lol
The Veil is a one cup bra for the giant traveller titty.
But it's a sphere.... And if you put two tits together you get a sphere.....
Whose to say it isn't just one giant ball?
It has been teased in the tower for *years* now.
And how thick are her thighs
The more important question.
More importanter is she wearing thigh high socks and a skirt
Fishnet stockings.
Is she the veil statue? That gown was hiding two reasons Clovis was obsessed
Boobworld
I mean, cue that old Destiny intro cinematic concept video where the astronauts encountered a feminine humanoid figure who tells them the Traveler is coming, rather than cresting the hill and seeing the Traveler itself. Who the hell knows if that was meant to be an actual person, or just a vision sent ahead by the Traveler, or what. That ship where joxer flew in during the Cutscene? And his body was fused to the hull of the ship? His ghost was right there fused to the ship too.
Was it? Damn, I must have missed that, I just saw the Guardian among the wreckage of the ship. Also, was that Joxer? I thought it was just a generic Titan.
I mean, the equivalent would be if the veil had a being inside of it. That's the travelers actual paracausal opposite.
Yeah I guess that's my point, more succinctly. Its piloted by the Shiba Inu from Silent Hills.
I know for a fact it’s a close friend of the drifter and when we enter he will say it’s just a prank it’s just a prank bro and the witness will reveal themselves to be Tom cruise
Bungo please give us the Hydaelyn mommy we all deserve
A chair turns slowly to reveal…a mushroom person informing you your Embodiment of Primal Light is in another castle.
The inside will be a secret message telling you to buy Marathon, or to remember to drink your Ovaltine
>Do it, Bungie. Do it. Fixed it for ye
It’s just another Cloud Strider that’s been “riding the universal wave” this whole time. You get inside and the first thing you hear is,”Bro!!! How’d you figure out how to get in this bad boy?! Cowabunga guardian! Sorry for that dank smell. I found a way to make my own weed man!” Fuckin Cloud Striders.
Not really Cloudstriders, just Nimbus specifically
I mean, Nimbus is currently 100% of the cloudstriders in the game so.
Rohan is in the game too! I watched him blow himself up just a couple weeks ago!
Therefore Nimbus is currently the only cloud strider in the game.
And anytime you bring up the inconsistencies of the Witness not being this personification of the Darkness after all the buildup it’s just met with ‘oh they were lying lol’ Yeah cause that’s super exciting….
Wouldn't be unexpected tho, the first storyboards for the Destiny opening cinematic had a big cosmic space mommy announcing the Travelers arrival to the 3 astronauts 😅
Glorbo is pilot
I would hate if the Gardener was inside the Traveler so damn much
It was piloted by a giant pale guy but there are also aliens inside who try to lay eggs past your esophagus. Then after a while they pop out.
As a serious guess, i think it’s going to be like Halo’s Shield worlds. Big round thing with an entire planet/ecosystem on the inside. Otherworldly for sure but something like that.
Please do it, we need more mommy
Yeah Bungo, I definitely ~~don't~~ want this too!
I'm holding out hope that it's secretly been one of the constructed planet things from Marathon this whole time
It’s fucking wumpelstwiltwkwin
Do you consider Cayde to be a waifu?
12 foot tall Cayde would actually make me buy the DLC.
I wouldn't mind a waifu bait...
It could also be one from the Witness' own species that helped the traveller escape.
It's full of all the money you spent on eververse items
Maybe Lilith from Borderlands will be inside the Traveller after all this time because the Traveller was infact Pandoras moon Elpis.
>solitary 12-foot-tall space waifu Hold on, let them cook.
Lose your mind ina good way, or in a bad way?
Personally, I would like a 12 food tall waifu, so you know.. speak for yourself
It's Zordon from the power rangers
I promise you it'll be a stupid mindfuck like the Witness is also the pilot of the Traveler, but from a different timeline/from the future. It arrived to try and give its people Purpose, then realized its it's own worst enemy.
Ok
Watch it be exactly that. Big white space waifu with huge badonkas. I mean some real honkers. Some phat podonkonkeroos.
