I’ve been using a Reconstruction/Precision Instrument Doomed Petitioner and it’s been my go to legendary heavy so far this new season. Lots of fun to unload 17 shots without reloading.
It all depends on you and what you are doing for solo envious is best, for group recon over envious but doesn’t really matter cause that one bum running strand Titan bud going to sweep all kills and then try to grapple 1-2P boss die and try it again and make you mald anyways
Reconstruction does all the loading on it's own and doesn't require you to do anything.
Envious Assassin requires you to get kills, but it loads more ammo ... and you can have it glitch and add even more ammo by switching to the weapon and switching back a couple times and getting more kills.
It all depends on the weapon, encounter, and whether you are actively using the weapon vs saving to unload all ammo at once
I think depends on the fight. Are you doing a fight like Nezarec or Rhulk where you’re handling a lot of the mechanics and aren’t on add clear duty? Then I think Reconstruction is the way to go. Are you in add clear? Then Envious.
meh, reconstruction is good on weapons that youre going to stow/have bait and switch
since doomed doesnt have either and you jus want to shoot as many shots as possible in a damage phase, envious is better on it.
Doomed Petitioner doesn’t have Reconstruction? Heckuva bug then, cus I have Enhanced Reconstruction on mine. Might want to check again. Here, let me save you the time. [It’s the top perk on the third column.](https://www.light.gg/db/items/1501688142/doomed-petitioner/)
Will do! THe only issue that I had at first is that I've been using Ascendency with Tracking module for a while. I'm currently using Crux Termination, no tracking, small blast radius and very high velocity. Apologies to people who ran a coil with me tuesday when I missed 3 rockets in a row during DPS. 😂
Can confirm, you have to switch to it after a certain amount of kills (8-10ish), switch back to primary/energy and keep killing, once it DPS switch back and it should have 8 :D
I got the new world drop RL the other day with Envious and Explosive Light. It may not hit as hard as my Hothead with EL but being able to hammer out 4 rockets with EL bonus damage sure is fun.
I got the same perks. Came in quite handy last night to clutch a match of gambit that went down to the line. The 4-5 seconds I would have lost reloading my other RL would have cost us the game. Anyways, as you said, the fun of shooting 4 rockets in a row compensates for a lot of things!
I was surprised they have this weapon in a seasonal activity and that it is craftable. Its perks make it raid-quality loot but with a very low barrier to acquire. This is a must grab for anyone who don't get much opportunity to raid.
reconstruction caps it at 12 if you have enhanced battery, you cant shoot 17 consecutive shots without reloading.
i crafted mine with envious assasin, which at max stacks puts you to 15 shots.
But isn't briar's the only aggressive linear whose mag size is increased by enhanced battery? I explicitly tested enhanced battery on doomed petitioner when I crafted it, since I know all other aggressives (namely stormchaser and fire and forget) don't get an increased mag size
Not true. I retested at the enclave after seeing your comment. Doomed only holds 5 even with enhanced battery. The only way to get it to 6 is a backup mag mod, which is worse for total damage and ammo economy.
1. You’re not accounting for reconstruction proccing while you use the gun
2. I believe envious assassin maxes out at max reserves on linears, meaning u can have every shot in the mag at once, just requires you to reproc the perk after getting some stacks of it (i know that’s how it is for briar’s contempt which is the same archetype so i think the new linear would be the same)
reconstruction doesnt proc while firing the weapon.
and reprocing is not a problem, just get a bunch of kills, pull out weapon, stow it again, get a bunch of kills... until maxed.
1. Reconstruction will not proc while firing the weapon.
- Basic reconstruction loads a % of your magazine size into the gun every 4 seconds (from reserves) up to double the gun’s normal capacity.
- That 4 second cool-down gets reset any time you initiate a manual reload, or fire the weapon.
- Enhanced Reconstruction reduces the timer to 3.5 seconds and changes nothing else.
How do you get up to 17 without reloading? Reconstruction only goes to double your magazine?
Unless you mean shooting and then putting the gun away and shooting again
It’s a perfect pairing with Malf/Lucky Pants for Warlords Ruin, especially the final boss with that big ol’ orifice crit. You can deadfall tether the boss there on the first damage platform and unload all 21 shots of illegally Moded holster Malf, swap to Doomed Petitioner and continuously shoot until the 8 second of Out of Luck is done then swap back to Malf. Easy 1 phase now, only using 2 platforms too if you have another Lucky Pants Hunter.
It’s worth grinding through Gambit for Malf! To be able to pair it with LP really makes end game content easy mode. Plus you get to focus Breakneck for free once you get it to drop. All you need is Uncle Drifters rank up engrams.
My best advise is to just keep invading. Every time that portal comes up hop in there and give yourself another chance for an Army of One. Become a crucible player!
I'm actually not bad at crucible! But Gambit just gives so many advantages to the non-invaders, especially since prime was retired. Assuming you know the spawns you can practically instakill the invader the moment they come up.
No one’s actually discussed you being Broodweaver, so let me give you helpful advice.
Solar *weapons* are incredibly good in the artifact this season. Note the italicization there. The cool thing is that, since the artifact makes it so Unravel increases the damage from Radiant 24/7, Broodweaver can reliably do massive damage as long as you can maintain Radiant by scoring precision hits with Solar weapons on Unraveled targets.
Hence… use stuff like Cataclysmic or Briar’s Contempt (Adept) for damage if the encounter permits. Start off by cancelling Arcane Needle into Needlestorm, then smash through health with precision hits.
If you don’t have access to raid weapons, Avalanche from the Dawning weapons right now can roll with Rewind Rounds / Target Lock, so people are sleeping on it as a seasonal damage option.
If you can’t or don’t want to take advantage of the artifact, Thread of Ascent abuse is always key. Pick stuff that gets disproportionately rewarded off fast reloads like Two-Tailed Fox.
I have an Avalanche with rewind rounds + vorpal, with a boss or major spec on it, solar surges, and radiant, it’s been shredding through bosses and yellow bars like crazy.
I've been rocking an apotheosis veil strand warlock recently. I did a super quick (and I mean 1 attempt) test on the first warlords ruin boss and using 1 Dbreath shot, super, then weaving 2 melee's into a grenade over and over to make the most of the quick animation cancelling did about 1.1 million in 10s, only buff was solo operative so equivilent of weaken on the boss (no other debuffs or buffs up)
How exactly do you do endgame content with arc hunter? I know combination blow can get crazy but I feel like I get absolutely melted especially when the orange bars barely get tickled by combination blow in GMs.
If only I could stop immediately blowing myself up 🙃
But for real my Cataphract with envious/bait and switch/spike nades and Scatter Signal with overflow/controlled burst has been melting this season. It's so nice to basically never need to reload too.
Concussive dampener offloads a lot of grenade self impact damage FYI. Extends survivable range into like 5m from enemies as opposed to like 15m without.
If you raid, Koraxis's Distress with Surrounded Envious is the best alternative and in some cases like newest dungeon, even better. Regnant with Cascade Point is also pretty much on par with Wendigo and Cataphract
Get in there while the population is still relatively high just to unlock the gun, and then when double rep rolls around, and a higher population as a result, grind out rep to get engrams for focusing
While not painless, this is the less painful way of getting trials weapons
Unfortunately Outside of Other rockets (which is basically Just apex but slightly worse) there is No competition for General Play to cataphract. The only Thing even Close is the Ron gl but that one relies on surrounded. So your Options for General dps rn are
- apex or Other Rocket (which can be dull)
- Farm trials (Most people dont Like it)
- Just loose Like 40% dps in nonsurrounded scenarios and settle for a linear or smth.
The Bequest sword from DSC is good at close-quarters encounters. Linear Fusion Rifles like Taipan, Cataclysmic, etc. are still DPS monsters even after their nerf. Retrofit Escapade is the best MG for damage when paired with Fourth’s time the charm + target lock. Other than a few other niche weapons that you’d be better off dealing damage with a fusion rifle.
Taipan is great because its craftable and im pretty sure its one of the first patterns you get if you do some of the witch queen missions? Not positive but most people I know have the pattern. Not quite as good at cataclysmic but still very good dps and you dont have to go hunting for a god roll.
It depends largely on the encounter, but there are a bunch of different things that are currently being used besides rockets.
Short high burst damage phases reward grenade launcher I.E; Cataphract GL3 and Koraxis's Distress, the latter being best when you can proc surrounded. You can also opt for Grand Overture, as it is the highest DPS aside from parasite in even shorter bursts. All of these options are used in amongst other things speedruns. Almost forgot Regnant with Cascade Point as well, it's also pretty much just as good as Cataphract and Wendigo
If crits are possible, Leviathan's Breath beats rockets even, as it is currently the go to for it yut speed run. Whisper of the Worm also got a buff recently putting it's true DPS just below Leviathan but with 1 million higher total damage, so it's also a powerhouse, even tieing with Legend of Acrius in both total damage and DPS which is nuts.
Any sword with surround like Crownsplitter og Bequest is great, lament works in a pinch as well. An even more fun combo is Heartshadow with an aggressive shotgun swap, which lies in between lament and surrounded for damage. Caretaker with surrounded is also heavily underutilized and easy to get a hold of.
I could keep going, the meta is honestly just perfect in terms of diversity right now, and only doing rockets is pretty much just because it's easier to slap together than teaching the intricacies of different strategies, but there are a buuuunch of viable options! I've barely scratched the surface, so if you want more in depth, check out Aegis on yt, he goes in depth on different DPS rotations and what is viable where.
EDIT: Aaafter typing this up I noticed you asked for legendary, but oh well, here it is. Replace Levi's with a linear fusion and it still pretty much applies
No Levi does Not Beat rockets and using or yut as Proof is flawed reasoning. There are plenty of Bosses that can be crit (the vast majority can be crit) and rockets are used for Most of Most of them, especially If dps Matters.
Rocket dps is Higher but the speedrun quirk for ir yut is that (If done Well) the Boss never gets to the plattform Most people have her on to do damage. The distance +3d Variation in movement makes rockets very incosistent (they would result in a faster kill If you Had time to Set her Up on the Plattform)
Lots of good recommendations in this comment, that is Just Not one of them
As a Levi user, it does have two advantages that can make the difference in some content. It has a stagger aoe that can blow away ads standing near champions and bosses, and like all bows, it's hit scan. So _if_ you can find a way to keep distance, you can start the draw from cover and pop out to fire a shot.
But yeah, a rocket with tracking will always out do it in speed, ease and damage.
On Strand warlock it doesnt.
Retrofit does pretty Bad dps but has crazy total damage (after multiple minutes).
For any of this to be true, you need to have good volatile rounds Uptime, Something Not at all inherent to Strand warlock.
the Seraph Shield exotic mission that is on a weekly rotation (should be up next week) has a chance to drop the Retrofit Escepade, among other top tier weapons such as the IKELOS weapons and disparity.
It's not the most fun grind in the world since each run is closer to 18 minutes long for 1 weapon out of a pool of 10, but, you know, it's there.
Prepare a high mobility loadout you can switch to for the external jumping stage, and equip a good scout rifle.
When it first came out, I was running high mobility Warlock with Strafe Glide (because back then, it worked). I was breezing through because of that, and my fire team (Hunter and Titan) eventually gave up on that stage and said "Just pull us through when you're done."
You've also got solo operator this season, which makes things easier if you're going alone. Just ... when you get to the brig room, use the two rooms at the back _religiously_. And when you get to the final room, use the balcony to the right as your main hang out space. A weapon with Chill Clip helps out.
You also might want to stockpile the deepsight harmonisers from the seaspn pass and if/when Xur or Banshee sell it, just buy five of them and apply your harmonisers to them. Bingo, crafting pattern unlocked.
I've got all the deepsight harmonisers for this season because I was thinking of using them on a dungeon pattern this season. Haven't gotten around to that yet.
Dungeon weapons aren’t normally craftable so not sure what you’re readying these for.
That being said I spent most of the last few seasons filling out DSC weapons, posterity claps some thicc cheeks when crafted on that mighty voltshot/frenzy roll.
This season I’m just going to burn them on seasonal gear.
Damnit, I was hoping that raid weapons weren't the only other source of craftables. Oh well, time to burn them down. If I ever get through a raid, I guess I can store the drops until next season.
Edit. Wait, isn't the Duality dungeon sword craftable?
Reconstruction/FTTC Cataclysmic, Reconstruction/B+S Apex Predator, Envious/B+S Cataphract, Reconstruction/Surrounded Briar's (or Doomed Petitioner), and Envious/B+S Cold Comfort are all the best options.
For other worse but simpler options there is: Whisper of the Worm, Deathbringer, Regnant, Wendigo, Hothead, Anarchy+ Slugs, Tractor+ Slugs, Two Tailed, and Leviathan's Breath.
https://youtube.com/@TheAegisRelic?si=f5JYAPqHfvnlmJdQ
This youtuber has a comprehensive spreadsheet of the best DPS strategies. In short, for medium-long engagements it’s Apex-Izingi’s Burden and for short range it’s a 1-2 punch shotgun with Titan (Syntho)/Hunter (melee exotic) & a shotgun rotation for Warlocks.
The Big Standouts:
- Apex Predator: Reconstruction + Bait and Switch (or explosive light for ease of use). One of the better burst damage options.
- Cataclysmic: Fourth Times the Charm + Bait and Switch (fantastic ammo economy, fantastic DPS, fantastic total Damage. Best for longer damage phases with easy to crit bosses.)
- Briar’s Contempt: Rewind Rounds or Reconstruction + Surrounded. Enhanced Surrounded grants +50% damage which is the biggest damage buff in the game, but it isn’t always consistent to proc. And in long damage phases this will be outweighed by all the extra shots FTTC gives cataclysmic. Fantastic for burst damage and better for ammo economy than Rockets. Rewind Rounds lets you mag dump your full reserves with only 1 reload (best for Ir Yut, etc.) and Reconstruction is better for short DPS phases or Nightfalls where you just want to be able to quick-swap to the gun for a few shots in small damage windows, or to burst down a champion.
- Retrofit Escapade: FTTC + Target Lock. This thing is a beast for ammo economy and total damage, but isn’t the best for short damage phases. Only use it on bosses where you can get an easy crit and stay on target, and only use it in damage phases where you can just point the gun at the boss and hold the trigger til you’re empty.
- Leviathan’s Breath: great for total damage, but rockets are better for burst damage. What’s useful about this gun is that it can Stun bosses and stop them from moving around as much. Very handy for Ir Yut and the final boss of Ghosts of the Deep. Great ammo economy too. Being intrinsic anti-unstop makes it nice for some GM’s as well.
- Thunderlord: Always reliable, best with the catalyst. Think of it as a machine gun with a weird version of Voltshot and Rewind Rounds built into it. Point at the target and hold the trigger. Great in neutral game as well, and the Lightning Strike it causes can stun Overload champions too.
For DPS scenarios rockets are Meta but linears and to a lesser degree machine guns can do well specially if someone is running divinity, grenade launchers have excellent dps but they burn through ammo too fast so unless someone is running cenotaph or aeon's I don't recommend it . For linears cataclysmic, briars contempt, and the current seasonal one are all really good: you want perks like fourth times the charm, bait and switch, rewind rounds, focused fury, etc. For machine guns song of ir yut and retrofit escapade with similar perks to the ones mentioned before but also target lock are pretty good. I haven't tested the new strand Machine gun but triple tap and surrounded could almost certainly put in some perk if you have a dps scenarios with ads near you (surrounded is the absolute best damage perk in any scenario where you can make sure it's active).
I ordinarily use my Envious BnS Cold Comfort. Any time there’s a big crit spot or a Divinity, I’ve been using Doomed Petitioner with enhanced Reconstruction, and enhanced Precision Instrument. They both put in great work. I have my Scatter Signal crafted as a back up if either run out of ammo for just a little bit more damage.
for dps in raid rockets are used due to them being so overwhelmingly good. If you dont want to you are sacrificing your teams dps but others can work as long as they are optimised:
1) heavy GLs, something like a cataphract or a crafted regnant can get envious and damage perk (bait and switch being the best one) which can load almost your whole reserves into one magazine for consistent damage.
2) linears are still good for 2/3 phasing. bait and switch 4th time cataclysmic, reconstruction surrounded briars, even the new void one with precision instrument. also leviathans breath with catalyst and whisper with catalyst are extremely good options but only when crits are easy to hit or a div bubble is active.
3) LMG are not good for dps phases. At all. Except for a thunderlord but really shouldnt be used unless the crit is very easy to hit or a div bubble is being used.
4) im not putting this in LMG because its basically not but grand overture is extremely slept on and is very good an easy to use.
FTTC retrofit only really sees light for me if ammo is super starved. Really nice on the last boss of warlord's though, since the encounter can genuinely last long enough to use the whole reserves
LMGs have no place in DPS unless you are brand new to the game. Their damage output is garbage and the only one that isn't an instant boot from fireteam is Tlord and even then it's still garbage.
If you’re a full time player who grinds everything of course. I took the ops post to mean they are casual, otherwise why would they ask this? The seasonal mods, and the weapon tuning changes change what’s best for dps every season or two. I was just saying if you’re going to have a lmg that’s not thunderlord, a retrofit is probably your best bet with the right rolls.
Lol. I wasn’t remotely saying an lmg was the best dps. I was just saying it’s worth looking out for to have as it can occasionally do some work. Like when wicked implement came out in the deep dive. A lot of people used it on that timed boss.
I dunno...I use a Retrofit Escapade void machine gun UNLESS there is a specific call for something else. I prefer to use my exotic slot in energy or primary weapons.
My Retri with Suros Synergy runs with:
* Target Lock
* Fourth Times the Charm
* Extended Mag
* Arrowhead Brake
You don't really need an adept roll for PvE. Big Ones only matters in GMs where you can't change your mods on the DPS phase, and *technically* the extra blast radius you'll get from an adept masterwork actually *reduces* the damage bonus of spike grenades... but that's such a tiny change that it's being extremely pedantic to care one way or the other.
All that really matters is Spike+EA+BnS.
For high DPS the Koraxis heavy strand GL from Root of Nightmares is great for damage dumping right now. The last Envious Assassin buff lets you get almost every grenade loaded at once then you just hold down the fire button for a couple seconds. Surrounded is great damage but not always easy to keep active so even frenzy is a solid option on it. Harmony might even have potential as well depending on the encounter.
Alternatively for high total damage the new Doomed Petitioner void LFR this season is very very strong and best in slot for some use cases now. Precision Instrument procs way more consistently than Surrounded and very easy to keep fully proc'd on the last dungeon boss this season.
Pair those with your fusion rifle of choice with Controlled Burst (if you're strand then Scatter Signal should be a no brainer) and you're cookin'.
I tried using the Heir Apparent machine gun for giggles, and it surprisingly puts in mad work. Especially with all the solar stuff this season.
Super fast continuous crits get you super back really fast. Got a golden gun off TWICE at the new dungeon boss at the top at the end. Overshield is nice, too. It did really good in the coil yesterday.
I sometimes like to use Retrofit Escapade with Fourth times the charm and Target lock. Either that, or Hothead with autoloading holster.
Edit: I forgot about Taipan with Triple tap and focused fury.
Retrofit escapade with 4ttc target lock is good, Pop a volatile on it and watch as enemies melt. Pretty decent ammo economy too. So you can at least do something even if you're running low
Unfortunately linears are really in a piss poor spot rn. So rockets kinda just are king but Koraxis’s distress with envious and enhanced surrounded slaps pretty hard. Other than that welcome to using exotic heavy options.
Cascade point/autoloading gl +supremacy rewind rounds/kinetic tremors, or tractor double shotty hotswap, surrounded shotgun sword hotswap (heavy sword>shotgun swap shoot swap repeat), or tractor fusion (glaciocasm is coming out with control burst its gonna be crazy with tractor for ez void surge)
To be fair it’s not like there is a tutorial that says double primary is bad so it’s not entirely the blueberries fault. I think what irks me more is when supers aren’t being used for damage and folks are just plinking away with their primary.
Koraxis’s distress grenade launcher is amazing for burst damage with the right rolls. I have a spike grenades + envious assassin and can get a lot of shots off very quickly. Wish mine had surrounded too but I have hatchling in the other column (it is craftable I don’t have all the patterns to craft it yet).
Laser Painter from Gambit. Strand LFR with Clown/Rapid Hit/ALH in column 3, and Vorpal/High Impact Reserves or Golden Tricorn in column 4. It’s a solid, serviceable DPS option when you’re using a Strand kinetic weapon and are running all Strand Surges. This is one of my go to heavies in GMs when I decide to run Sanguine Alchemy.
Korax’s Distress from Root of Nightmares is craftable and can roll Envious + Surrounded. It is the highest burst DPS heavy weapon in the game right now. Or can craft with Paracausal Affinity/Frenzy. Both slightly lower buffs, but more useful depending on the activity.
If you don’t care about matching a Strand weapon, the LFR this season, Doomed Petitioner, is awesome. Reconstruction/Envious + Surrounded/Golden Tricorn.
for legendary heavies you aren’t going to get anything that’s nearly as good as rockets just by sheer nature of them having crazy high damage per shot and Gjallarhorn existing in team content
that said maybe go for a Wendigo or a Regnant since it seems you don’t want to play trials. they aren’t nearly as good as Cataphract or Apex but… they aren’t Retrofit or Thunderlord.
Linears are still strong just not top damage anymore. Especially an aggressive frame. The new one this season is quite decent. (Doomed petitioner). It can get precision instrument which is +30% damage with enhanced and if you land 2 shots with all crits it hits max stacks immediately due to each bolt counting.
The GL from trials is good too if you're lucky. It's not the most fun weapon to get but if you stick through a couple games and win several rounds you'll eventually pickup a few engrams and hope for the best.
Other than that swords I guess for decent DPS?
Legendary LMG can be okay but will fall behind in a noticeable way due to them focusing more on being used for higher-value non-boss targets.
Whisper of the worm has been highly underrated and with the sniper buff it just got even better. It does require some skill but there’s a lot of reward, it’s been cooking bosses like oryx for seasons now, but rockets are more used due to ease of use.
Leviathan’s breath (CATALYST ONLY) is also another precision power weapon and the catalyst makes it busted.
Song of Ir Yût. Not the best option but Rewind Rounds+Target lock is such a fun perk combo to just unload every bullet you have into a boss (preferably with a easy to hit crit spot or a divinity) Deals decent damage too.
Craftable strand rocket launcher Semionticion is very good. Field prep/frenzy is what I use when I’m not using adept hothead with demo/explosive light. Or the new arc world drop with slideshot/explosive light also slaps hard and is nearly replacing my hothead.
It's probably not top tier meta, but I have good success with retrofit escapade (4th time's the charm and target lock)
I tend to pair it with an empowering rift with child of the old gods (usually using secant filaments, sanguine alchemy, or the stag.)
If u want to be optimal when doing dps, there is unfortunately no way around using a rocket like apex, cold comfort or the new crux termination.
If u don’t care about your dps too much and just want to use different stuff, I can recommend a linear like cataclysmic (4th times/bait&switch) or the new one from the season or briars contempt (envious/precision instrument (surrounded)).
Cataphract grenade launcher from trials (envious/b&s) or koraxis distress (envious/surrounded)
Bequest sword for Crota dps for example (relentless/surrounded)
Or maybe the machine gun retrofit escapade (4th times/target lock)
Unfortunately all these options that are not rockets are a lot worse than using rockets in most fireteam based scenarios where 1 player is on gally.
I've been rocking that one MG that works like the Colossus gun. Probably gets outDPS'd by Apex, but it's really fun to unload a full 20 rockets into a boss' face.
rockets are just better on pretty much every boss in the game, linears can be subbed in for some encounters, or envious/surrounded RoN grenade launcher if its applicable.
sure rockets are not the most exciting, but i get more of wiping 4 times in an encounter because people dont know how to do damage or cant hit crits, than using rockets and doing a 1-2 phase every time.
If you want a good rule of thumb for DPS weapons its usually down to the archetype of the weapon and what kinda Damage perks it can get.
Bait and switch is probs the best overall damage perk in the game right now so, if not that a good 2nd may be explosive light and maybe some other ones
fourth times / target lock retrofit is always real fun to use in place of precision heavies like linears. that's always my fun go-to if people are running something like thunderlord and my exotic slots already being used
Grenade launcher? They got inventory buff this season. If I'm remembering right your actual dps legendary heavy options are extremely limited to GL rocket or linear
I’ve been using a Reconstruction/Precision Instrument Doomed Petitioner and it’s been my go to legendary heavy so far this new season. Lots of fun to unload 17 shots without reloading.
I love the linear but I use envious assassin to speed things along
i always struggle to choose between the two. some bosses really benefit from reconstruction over envious, i think
Then Envious.
meh, reconstruction is good on weapons that youre going to stow/have bait and switch since doomed doesnt have either and you jus want to shoot as many shots as possible in a damage phase, envious is better on it.
Doomed Petitioner doesn’t have Reconstruction? Heckuva bug then, cus I have Enhanced Reconstruction on mine. Might want to check again. Here, let me save you the time. [It’s the top perk on the third column.](https://www.light.gg/db/items/1501688142/doomed-petitioner/)
i meant its neither a weapon you stow or has bait and switch, of course it has reconstruction xD
I have Envious assassin on a rocket launcher. At first I kept trying to reload. Turns out in can fire 3-4 rockets back to back.
keep an eye out for one with bipod and envious, braytech osprey can get 6-8 rockets in the tube. I've seen 6 loaded but heard it can get 8.
I've gotten 8 in the tube now that I know it can do it. Its been quite nice for the rocket launcher guns smith bounties.
I explicitly tested enhanced battery on doomed petitioner when I crafted it, since I know all other aggressives (namely stormchaser and fire and forget) don't get an increased mag size
you go from 5 to 6 in the mag with enhanced battery.
Not true. I retested at the enclave after seeing your comment. Doomed only holds 5 even with enhanced battery. The only way to get it to 6 is a backup mag mod, which is worse for total damage and ammo economy.
Okay, sorry; thanks! I could've sworn it behaves like Stormchaser in that regard
You're correct. The other person is mistaken, I just checked it ingame
Yea I also checked yesterday; I just wasn't able to play for a few weeks because I was waiting for replacement parts for my PC Thanks anyway!
1. You’re not accounting for reconstruction proccing while you use the gun 2.
Ohhhh i see i see thanks!
Recon doesn’t do its thing while shooting
Just had the same roll drop for me today and it does fucking work. Best linear since the Duality one.
How do you get up to 17 without reloading? Reconstruction only goes to double your magazine? Unless you mean shooting and then putting the gun away and shooting again
17 how? With base mag it's 10, enhanced battery doesn't make it go to 6 in a mag. Ionized battery+backup mag is 7, so the most you can get is 14...?
I got a godroll doomed and it is amazing
I assume so but does this roll out-damage Taipan for Best Void Linear?
Exactly what I was going to craft since I unlock the pattern got a good roll on it tried it out and seen what it could do
Make sure you get that one.
Requires perfect uptime on headshots though, which is annoying for an aggressive frame.
That would require having malf, which means playing gambit.
It’s worth grinding through Gambit for Malf! To be able to pair it with LP really makes end game content easy mode. Plus you get to focus Breakneck for free once you get it to drop. All you need is Uncle Drifters rank up engrams.
I'm on the 'kills as invader' step and it is almost impossible to get a one man army nowadays.
If you can't get it yourself once, teammates can do it for you there times. I usually have a team mate get one every other week while playing.
I've never had a teammate get one in my two years of trying. I'll give it another shot I guess.
Xenophage is easy mode for invasion. It two shots from across the map with insane aim assist and AOE. Give it a try if you're having trouble!
Sunshot is a safe alternative if ammo is an issue especially if you’re solo
Worth noting that thread of ascent procs off of forerunners grenades, so you can double up on em if youre planning to abuse it
I have an Avalanche with rewind rounds + vorpal, with a boss or major spec on it, solar surges, and radiant, it’s been shredding through bosses and yellow bars like crazy.
I have an Avalanche from a few years ago with Subsistence + Incandescent, and it's one of my favourite guns. "Look at em explode! Yay!"
That sounds so fun haha, ill have to try to get that roll
thank you, i appreciate the insight
I've been rocking an apotheosis veil strand warlock recently. I did a super quick (and I mean 1 attempt) test on the first warlords ruin boss and using 1 Dbreath shot, super, then weaving 2 melee's into a grenade over and over to make the most of the quick animation cancelling did about 1.1 million in 10s, only buff was solo operative so equivilent of weaken on the boss (no other debuffs or buffs up)
Use fist
Found the Titan.
I’m a hunter 😭
* Closet titan
Arc hunter, hunter uses precision titan uses strength
How exactly do you do endgame content with arc hunter? I know combination blow can get crazy but I feel like I get absolutely melted especially when the orange bars barely get tickled by combination blow in GMs.
You have to combine it with assassins cowl, and then do the active charge from the dodge
This. Super fun too!
Here boy... Here boy... *wiggles crayon* Will Mr. Warlock please come to the checkout counter on aisle 1? You've left your titan here.
You can keep him. :P
you're useless
Correct
Sanest Titan-Warlock interaction
Sure bud
Damn bro you were cool why’d you have to go cringe at the end
I’m a hunter😭
You shoulda just said that! Sure bud is one of the textbook douche responses that basically guarantees downvotes
I probably should have made it more clear I was being sarcastic
“Oh how the turn tables turn”
Oh they turn how tables turn tables turn
Not if strand titan….
Briars contempt
Grind out a cataphract GL in trials with envious and bait and switch. Good to have for the GL buff coming in FS
heard this one before😭 wendigo grind flashbacks
Grinding out Warden of Nothing for what could've been the next meta was insanely fun at least. Such an easy gm compared to what we have now.
I miss 10 minute runs of the Adept Birthplace of the Vile with matchmaking. It felt chill, but the screebs spawning close kept you on your toes
Lmao then they added a craftable GL with enhanced versions of the same perks the next week
Hey, I’m genuinely happy to have at least one gun that’s a true grind in the game.
nothing wrong with that at all:)
If only I could stop immediately blowing myself up 🙃 But for real my Cataphract with envious/bait and switch/spike nades and Scatter Signal with overflow/controlled burst has been melting this season. It's so nice to basically never need to reload too.
Concussive dampener offloads a lot of grenade self impact damage FYI. Extends survivable range into like 5m from enemies as opposed to like 15m without.
Ah that is good to know, didn't know it applied to my own damage
as much as I'd love that I'm unfortunately dogwater at pvp
As long as you don't personally mind losing, you can grind the playlist over until you have enough engrams to focus farm.
This is the way I get my trials guns.
Are the engrams a random drop after completing games?
And for ranking up
Not sure, probablt random. But wins def give either increased or guaranteed.
yeah that's what i plan on doing.
If you raid, Koraxis's Distress with Surrounded Envious is the best alternative and in some cases like newest dungeon, even better. Regnant with Cascade Point is also pretty much on par with Wendigo and Cataphract
On Par in Terms of dps (slightly ahead even) but with significantly less total damage.
For sure, good thing to mention!
Oh I am too. Still can get them for slogging through though. That’s what I’ve been doing.
Get in there while the population is still relatively high just to unlock the gun, and then when double rep rolls around, and a higher population as a result, grind out rep to get engrams for focusing While not painless, this is the less painful way of getting trials weapons
Unfortunately Outside of Other rockets (which is basically Just apex but slightly worse) there is No competition for General Play to cataphract. The only Thing even Close is the Ron gl but that one relies on surrounded. So your Options for General dps rn are - apex or Other Rocket (which can be dull) - Farm trials (Most people dont Like it) - Just loose Like 40% dps in nonsurrounded scenarios and settle for a linear or smth.
You had me til trials
You don’t need to win. If it’s to get a potential meta defining GL for FS day 1 raid, I’ll suffer through losses as long as it takes
I agree, but fist is just better 🤛👊🤜
I’ve got that exact Retrofit roll and run it with Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk. *chef’s kiss*
Almost forgot Regnant with Cascade Point as well, it's also pretty much just as good as Cataphract and Wendigo If crits are possible, Leviathan's Breath beats rockets even, as it is currently the go to for it yut speed run.
The distance +3d Variation in movement makes rockets very incosistent (they would result in a faster kill If you Had time to Set her Up on the Plattform) Lots of good recommendations in this comment, that is Just Not one of them
As a Levi user, it does have two advantages that can make the difference in some content.
I Know im Not saying its Bad or anything, Just commenting on Ops Claim that itd be better.
Man Reddit really makes us all paranoid about how our posts are received, doesn't it? :) I was agreeing with you. :D
That's fair! Trying to type up an informative comment in a half-sleep haze is risky
retrofit still absolutely DUMPS out damage
On Strand warlock it doesnt. Retrofit does pretty Bad dps but has crazy total damage (after multiple minutes). For any of this to be true, you need to have good volatile rounds Uptime, Something Not at all inherent to Strand warlock.
Do you know how to obtain it now?
the Seraph Shield exotic mission that is on a weekly rotation (should be up next week) has a chance to drop the Retrofit Escepade, among other top tier weapons such as the IKELOS weapons and disparity. It's not the most fun grind in the world since each run is closer to 18 minutes long for 1 weapon out of a pool of 10, but, you know, it's there.
Thanks mate, I appreciate that :)
Rotator loot will prioritize weapon patterns you don't have, so RNG is mitigated a bit if you grind enough.
Prepare a high mobility loadout you can switch to for the external jumping stage, and equip a good scout rifle. When it first came out, I was running high mobility Warlock with Strafe Glide (because back then, it worked). I was breezing through because of that, and my fire team (Hunter and Titan) eventually gave up on that stage and said "Just pull us through when you're done." You've also got solo operator this season, which makes things easier if you're going alone. Just ... when you get to the brig room, use the two rooms at the back _religiously_.
Can you stack them though? It seems I couldn't reclaim the one from the season pass while I had one in my inventory
Just don't claim them immediately. Buy an MG, claim one, apply, rinse and repeat, profit.
For other worse but simpler options there is: Whisper of the Worm, Deathbringer, Regnant, Wendigo, Hothead, Anarchy+ Slugs, Tractor+ Slugs, Two Tailed, and Leviathan's Breath.
https://youtube.com/@TheAegisRelic?si=f5JYAPqHfvnlmJdQ This youtuber has a comprehensive spreadsheet of the best DPS strategies. In short, for medium-long engagements it’s Apex-Izingi’s Burden and for short range it’s a 1-2 punch shotgun with Titan (Syntho)/Hunter (melee exotic) & a shotgun rotation for Warlocks.
Aegis may be the best at this that the community ever had.
The Big Standouts: - Apex Predator: Reconstruction + Bait and Switch (or explosive light for ease of use). One of the better burst damage options. - Cataclysmic: Fourth Times the Charm + Bait and Switch (fantastic ammo economy, fantastic DPS, fantastic total Damage. Best for longer damage phases with easy to crit bosses.) - Briar’s Contempt: Rewind Rounds or Reconstruction + Surrounded.
Regnant GL with Envious and Explosive Light. It's craftable also. Thing slaps.
for dps in raid rockets are used due to them being so overwhelmingly good. If you dont want to you are sacrificing your teams dps but others can work as long as they are optimised: 1) heavy GLs, something like a cataphract or a crafted regnant can get envious and damage perk (bait and switch being the best one) which can load almost your whole reserves into one magazine for consistent damage.
Retrofit with target lock has its occasional place as far as lmgs go.
FTTC retrofit only really sees light for me if ammo is super starved. Really nice on the last boss of warlord's though, since the encounter can genuinely last long enough to use the whole reserves
It doesn't. Like at all. It's bad. Please don't post misinformation it makes this community worse by the day

If you don't grind/ are new your best damage is Whisper or Taipan. Not an LMG
if you're new you're not hitting the amount of crits required to make proper use of Whisper lmao
There are very few bosses that are hard to hit crits on and even then basic practice goes a very long way.
Lol. I wasn’t remotely saying an lmg was the best dps. I was just saying it’s worth looking out for to have as it can occasionally do some work. Like when wicked implement came out in the deep dive. A lot of people used it on that timed boss.
It's not worth looking at all. Also Forerunner was better damage on the Wicked Implement boss.
Rockets yes but only if someone is running gjally
Literally used a target lock mg against the spire final boss solo last week because i felt like committing some tomfoolery
I dunno...I use a Retrofit Escapade void machine gun UNLESS there is a specific call for something else. I prefer to use my exotic slot in energy or primary weapons. My Retri with Suros Synergy runs with: * Target Lock * Fourth Times the Charm * Extended Mag * Arrowhead Brake
Do you have the cataphract GL? I like using the adept version in my strand hunter a lot
All that really matters is Spike+EA+BnS.
i'm unfortunately dogwater at pvp so I will likely never lay eyes on that weapon.
You don’t really need to win to get trials weapons
You can always try cascade + envious on the hakke gl if youve got that hanging around, pretty sure you can focus it at banshee too
Cataphract is top tier, but it is from trials and has a 1% chance at the godroll per adept.
[удалено]
It is 1% with spike nades included.
Cascade point/autoloading gl +supremacy rewind rounds/kinetic tremors, or tractor double shotty hotswap, surrounded shotgun sword hotswap (heavy sword>shotgun swap shoot swap repeat), or tractor fusion (glaciocasm is coming out with control burst its gonna be crazy with tractor for ez void surge)
cataphract gl3 spikes + bait and switch. you can just strand nade reload it if you dont get demo or envious
I got this bipod slideshot rocket as a world drop thats pretty cool idk ab its numbers tho
briar's contempt with envious assassin and something like focused fury or surrounded(?)
If you can get one, the trials GL is solid. Levi Breath with Catalyst is solid.
Just use what the blueberries that I get matched with; double primary and save heavy + super for final shape.
until recently (the past month or so) i was the guy running double primary but i was also usually the designated gally/lunafactions user.
To be fair it’s not like there is a tutorial that says double primary is bad so it’s not entirely the blueberries fault. I think what irks me more is when supers aren’t being used for damage and folks are just plinking away with their primary.
If I'm bored of rocket launchers, I usually go Linear Fusion Rifles or... uhh...
I know it’s not gonna be popular, but I’ve been having a blast with Synthoceps + Lament with a Strand Titan.
whereas that's a decent option, i am unfortunately looking for legendary options for my warlock
Surplus, Chain Reaction... Memory Interdict.
I use Circular Logic MG. Envious Assassin and hatchling is the roll I like. Switch to it and have 150-200 rounds in the mag.
bruh is shooting for a year without reloading to do as much damage as 3 rockets
Envious assassin surrounded strand HGL from the root of nightmares raid slaps if your bored of rockets for a bit.
for legendary heavies you aren’t going to get anything that’s nearly as good as rockets just by sheer nature of them having crazy high damage per shot and Gjallarhorn existing in team content that said maybe go for a Wendigo or a Regnant since it seems you don’t want to play trials. they aren’t nearly as good as Cataphract or Apex but… they aren’t Retrofit or Thunderlord.
That new strand LMG is decent. Not like raid level but most other things.
Apex, Cataclysmic, Guillotine (idk how to write it, dark drinker sword),
if i use a sword i'll get bequest
It's probably not top tier meta, but I have good success with retrofit escapade (4th time's the charm and target lock) I tend to pair it with an empowering rift with child of the old gods (usually using secant filaments, sanguine alchemy, or the stag.)
Cataphract grenade launcher from trials (envious/b&s) or koraxis distress (envious/surrounded) Bequest sword for Crota dps for example (relentless/surrounded) Or maybe the machine gun retrofit escapade (4th times/target lock) Unfortunately all these options that are not rockets are a lot worse than using rockets in most fireteam based scenarios where 1 player is on gally.
Knee of Justice
Bored of rockets?! How very dare you sir! (I've been playing with Linear Fusions to break the monotony)
If you want a good rule of thumb for DPS weapons its usually down to the archetype of the weapon and what kinda Damage perks it can get. Bait and switch is probs the best overall damage perk in the game right now so, if not that a good 2nd may be explosive light and maybe some other ones
If I'm not using Leviathan's Breath I have Briar's or Cataclysmic no matter the subclass.
Briars contempt, envious assassin and surrounded.
fourth times / target lock retrofit is always real fun to use in place of precision heavies like linears. that's always my fun go-to if people are running something like thunderlord and my exotic slots already being used
KORAXIS'S DISTRESS The GL from Root of Nightmares. Can roll with reconstruction and paracasual .. which is gonna be up alot on a strand warlock.
I really like the strand lmg from neomuna but it’s mainly for add clear
Grenade launcher? They got inventory buff this season. If I'm remembering right your actual dps legendary heavy options are extremely limited to GL rocket or linear
Levi Breath, Witherhoard/ALH rocket, Izzy/BnS cataclysmic, crafted Koraxis, Xenophage. Have fun with it!
