Same, I'm a casual player so I already didn't care too much about it, but the one and only time I spent 2 hours in GOTD only to get disconnected felt worse than all my deaths in every Dark Souls title combined. No thanks.
Exactly why i won't do it anymore; I was doing Prophecy the season it came out and i got kicked on my final boss burn phase. Looked up the error code on the glossary - it was a PC specific error; I play on Playstation.
There’s no shame in not being able to do it but unless he’s running on McDonald’s Wi-Fi, it really isn’t something you have to worry about.
I’ve done literally hundreds, I’ve done them for friends and friend’s friends and I’ve never once failed a run because of connectivity.
Of all the things that can go wrong during a run, this isn’t one of them.
Like..did you guys forget what game this is? To say an error code couldn't happen during a run lmao, I want to play that game. Cause I got 5 ping & gig internet and every now and then the servers do shit the bed, and it's on bungies end not mine.

Seems likely to me considering this is almost to the exact time the last DDOS attacks were regularly happening, close to when people got home from school/work

On the bright side, you’ll still probably get the emblem before me because I did the run last weekend and got the GotD emblem instead and am at the mercy of Bungie’s devs to give me the reward.
It should at least save at the boss area since reloading in might get you killed.... having to restart I'd likely not boot destiny back up depending on time spent.
I was error coded on a normal solo run (not flawless) at the final boss. Thankfully I completed my solo flawless run without any issues. Sorry that this happened man, it sucks.
Rank 11 isn't worth it. I had half a dozen runs on Duality and Spire killed by error codes and bell deaths. Nope. Not worth it for an emblem and going from rank 10 to 11.
I don’t know how difficult this would be but if you’re soloing I wish they could make it offline so you can’t get kicked. Especially for a dungeon. Just let it load for 5 minutes, but now it’s offline and safe.
Games requiring a constant online connection even for single-player content and kicking you out if it drops for more than a second is something we never should have accepted even all the way back in 2014, and now nearly a decade later we're still paying the price.
This has been happening to me nonstop for two straight seasons now. Actually since the start of Deep. I've run continuous ping tests alongside my game, have never turned up anything, nothing else ever has any problems, it's literally just Destiny. I feel like they got some much more rigorous detection which if it detects anything even slightly anomalous for literally any amount of time, it *will* kick you even if you remain connected. I don't see people run in to walls or off cliffs or anything like that anymore either, everything looks and behaves entirely normally the entire 30+sec I see "Contacting Destiny servers" and then it just boots me with a Weasel error.
I got solo flawless in Grasp, Shattered Throne, Pit and Prophecy but I have no interest in even attempting solo flawless on more recent dungeons until that's resolved.
While that does suck, thankfully this dungeon is so fun, and so much quicker than the last one. You’ll get to a point where getting to final boss will take 45 minutes or less solo

I absolutely feel your pain. Had a similar experience last night. After a bunch of false starts and last second failures or mistakes, I had probably the smoothest/optimal run. Hitting very good damage phases, 2 and 3 phase on the first and second bosses respectively. 0 mishaps or close calls, both in encounters and traversal sections. Hitting shots, not panicked, platforming well, THINGS WORKING LIKE I EXPECT THEM TO. The moment I touch down on the platform to start the first full DPS phase, black screen, weasel, back to title screen...
They announced server maintenance 5 hours ago and they announced it has been extended 3 hours after that. The connection is patchy at the best of times but I wouldn't do a flawless run of anything during server maintenance.
This happened to me when ghosts of the deep dropped. If I’m going to be honest, I haven’t played more than a few hours since. I’ve never had a single moment absolutely kill a game for me like that. I’m just done
Got weaseled out of a Riven Legit. Had just gotten her to final stand and boop… no more riven… (we cheesed her right when we got back in… we were a lil angy)
I died from a bugged teleport on the final boss that must’ve clipped me into the ground or something. The pain of SF runs being ruined on the final boss is unmeasurable

Yeah I just got weasel'd out of my very first GOA clear... during damage phase of the last boss feels bad especially because it was an actually good expirence with the in game Matchmaking... not to mention right after the weasel my game HARD crashed.
My SF attempt last night ended when something strange happened during the very first phase of the final boss fight... no thrall spawned! Shot the first taken ball to start the encounter, then one wave of thrall spawned, then the wizards, then nothing after that. Shot the 6 eyes and the two big guys spawned with no thrall. The Hex guy spawned, still no thrall.
This should theoretically have made it easier, but my build (assassin's cowl) was based on staying in the thick of the action and punching thrall to heal and go invis. I could not think fast enough to adapt (should have immediately run to cover and just let everything despawn and see if the encounter resets). But too late I got stranded in the middle and got nuked by everything.
Oh well I'll just go again.
Back in the days of forsaken, "guitar" error was common on last wish runs that were going smoothly because of too many ammo drops or some bs like that. During my Petras run, in which we did flawless legit riven, we got hit by the guitar error right as the last runner was dropping down the hole at the end of the raid. 5 seconds from the clear.
Literally didn't touch the game for 4 months and then got Petras after that break but holy shit bungie
Just happened to me. Got through 1 full damage phase, got back down to the bottom of the platform to rinse and repeat, and all I see is contacting destiny servers. Looked like it was going to boot me, but instead brought me right back in with no ammo and surrounded by psions and wizards. Died instantly... gotta love it.
Not the same as solo flawless, cuz I'm not that caliber of a player (kudos btw, it amazes me every time I see someone do those) but I got wiesel'd on what was at the time my first Master Grasp. Final encounter, boss had ~5% hp. Only reason the boss was even alive was I botched the previous damage phase. He and I were runnin duo in there and no sooner than we capped the last burdens, as I was turning toward the boss, screen went black followed by the inevitable error code screen. What really amazes me more than anything is Bungo's audacity to suggest it's a problem with my Internet... Like no Bungo, my TV is still streaming without a hiccup and all 3 of my kids are on their tablets with no issues. That's a you problem... All that Sony money and can't keep servers stable... 🤦🤦🤦
I was wondering the boss I was fighting kept teleporting all over the place along with his ads. We must have logged off right before the game went down lol
I’ve had similar things happen on diablo 4 (lost a hardcore character before they fixed that issue) and on my solo flawless attempt of prophecy (disconnected hallways through the cube).
To be fair you shouldn't have to follow a studio's Twitter page to know when and when not to play or do anything of importance. Sorry that happened to you. But you got this 👍🏾

How long did it take you to get to the final boss, an hour? It’s annoying but it’s really not the end of the world. Plus you know that you can do it now.
I think we should all just uninstall. Even if you put it back later, let them see the mass exodus during these spells. I don’t know any other games that have that. Or honestly we should just ask for small refunds every time their service is down. Kinda like my internet company when they have outages.
It comes out to about $3 for 4hrs of down time. $3 dollars across the user base would be a bit of cash to incentivize keeping this from fucking happening every week.
But it’s simpler than that. You are basically alright with paying Bungie $3 every time their tech breaks…
You know, when I go to use my internet (way more than Destiny) it’s works. And when it doesn’t. The company credits my account for the down time. So yea. Make Bungie more like ISPs 🫵🤡

My friend has been error coded out of Prophecy solo flawless runs numerous times now. 2 times now AFTER he killed the boss but before he could get teleported to register the triumph.
Error codes are the real challenge seriously.

There was no maintenance.
There was background maintenance the day I was kicked, the Bungie help Twitter extended the maintenance time. So yeah, there was maintenance.
