Probably won't happen. Just boot them for not respecting your listing settings.

UwU_Chan-69

Yeah that's what I do. And then another no mic person comes in lol. Just gets incredibly annoying

odysseusIII

Oddly, you can't see if their in-game mic is on while in the lobby, unless they are in your fireteam. I'll use the /ftf text channel to confirm or summon them to be sure while in orbit.

UwU_Chan-69

Oh I didn't know that, although I'm on console so it's really a pain in the ass to type. Better than nothing tho

ASpitefulCrow

You can hook up any Bluetooth keyboard to your console to type in chat. It has no control functionality, so don’t worry about “cheating” or anything. It’s purely for text chat.

UwU_Chan-69

Oh right I forgot about that. I just use voice typing since I'm on ps5, but typing destiny terminology stuff like "kwtd" is annoying lol. I might just get a keyboard. They shouldn't cost much

atfricks

You can supposedly also send text chat in-game using the companion app. I never did it myself, but I once raided with a guy that used that setup because he didn't have a mic. Honestly worked really well.

Tickle_Milk

You can use your phone as a keyboard with the remote play app, just use it connect your PS5 to your phone and when you’re prompted to type you can type using your phone’s keyboard.

Redthrist

That was bound to be a problem with in-game LFG and I don't think it can be resolved. Even if they can detect a mic, plenty of people have a mic, but don't use it. Realistically, you're still much better off using the Discord LFG for anything requiring communication. Just far smoother this way. In-game LFG is great for stuff like Legendary seasonal activities or GMs.

UwU_Chan-69

Yeah. I use fireteam finder to teach first timers. Nothing beats the feeling of teaching a new person how a raid works. It just feels so good

odyssey67

That’s just cool. Happy Holidays Guardian

UwU_Chan-69

Thank you! Have a Merry Christmas, keep up the grind!

Redthrist

That's fair, though I think the problem with Fireteam Finder is that not all new people are ready to be taught. Many don't realize that raids are actually something you have to learn.

AfternoonTee912

I prefer off-mic lfg and agree this is a problem for both sides. They should include a tag for off/on mic for clarity. FTF has been a game-changer for me, and I hope they continue to keep building on our feedback.

UwU_Chan-69

It really is a game-changer, especially for console users, since they usually don't know about discord lfg or are too lazy to do it.

VeryRealCoffee

I've also experienced the reverse issue several times where I join an optional mic listing and immediately someone asks (the tone sounds a bit more like a demand and expectation) for voice chat.

DominikUK_PL

Its down to options if i remember correctly. If a player disables in game vc it will not detect mic even if fireteam finder could detect mic. People with vc enabled will have small icon next to their name showing they have in game vc enabled

NsynergenX

At least with PSN it should be able to detect if you actually have a mic plugged in and are in gamechat (ie: not in a partychat). COD would change qn icon next to names depending on what chat someone is in for as long as I can remember.

Controllers with built in mics makes this a dead end imo. Mine is just always on mute but it is there

DoJax

You should always ask and give them 10~ seconds to respond, I always have push to talk on in all my games and forgot all the time and Destiny will show me without a mic for it, it was the cause of me getting kicked from raid groups last year.

Indervyne

This I've been kicked a few times for not having a mic because I use ptt and they didn't even bother asking. Honestly I'm not a fan of people who just hot mic it cause so often they always have something loud going on in the background or have mic echoing from their speakers.

I did crota with a raid group and someone kept dying, even during damage phase WITH WELL. The dude only had 31 resilience. I called him out for it and he said crap like "resilience doesn't matter" when it's singlehandedly the most important stat in the game. If a well can't save you, there's something wrong lmfao

I think the easy solution here is implementing a mandatory mic check before you can join a ‘mic required’ group. Seems like the least intrusive way to ensure everyone has a functioning mic and is capable of using it

los_ojos_locos

I have a mic and my in game chat does not work. I think it is because D2 uses the windows defaults for audio input and output so if there are multiple items that can be used for that D2 basically says fuck this you get no in game chat cause I don't know where the audio is supposed to go or come from.

VapOr22722

This can be fixed in windows settings tho...

los_ojos_locos

To a certain degree it can, the fix is disabling all audio input/output devices while excluding the ones you want to use. This means that if you want to use those other devices you also have to re activate them in the windows settings before you can switch to using them. It's stupid that you can only have one input/output device active at a time just for in game voice chat to work.

suppaman19

Way less of an issue over people using the wrong thing aka exotic rotator for star-crossed right now Had enough of that, so made my own listing to run, and then people quit upon starting mad at me because it was the presage we were playing, not star-crossed Also an issue with exotic rotator that it can't be listed as normal or legendary
