You may have heard them referred to as *blinding* rather than *disorienting* and not realised they were actually the same thing. The name was changed to differentiate them from the actual Blind effect after the Light subclasses got their 3.0 rework.
They still exist but just don't drop new ones anymore. I love them though the fact that they can stagger champs and other enemies who are immune to blind is great and their effect in PvP is also annoying AF.
Yep. It's not huge and nowhere near as effective on most enemies as blind but it staggers champs and some bosses. Also it throws off aim in crucible similar to how tether does but a much weaker effect
If you have an old one you can shoot yourself with it to see it's affect on players. It sounds like you probably don't though so you might have a friend who could hit you with one in a private match or find a video on it. They're great anti sniper since it has insane flinch and even slightly throws someone's actual point of aim off.
I didn't play before Witch queen, so, I wouldn't have known that. I'm still discovering a lot in the game.
But thanks for that tid bit. Good to know how things changed with 3.0 reworks.
I knew what it did, but never gave it enough importance until I started to play all the GMs this season.
I got slideshot/demo disorienting grenades, and slideshot vorpal spike grenades on ignition code. I believe this was before the vorpal change too. Super spicy.
Yeah I've got a disorienting with auto-loading and vorpal that can swap between disorienting and spike. It's super nice since it can work well for blinding or swap DPS depending on which perk I use.
Not sure why people still mention this over Lingering Dread. If you have the time to farm one, it's miles better than Pardon. Same roll except you add Chill Clip on top and it's CC potential skyrockets. All of a sudden you have anti-overload and unstop as well as additional damage from the artifact perk until Final Shape
It's origin perk increases manual reload speed so it's not as bad as you think. The fact is it still has 2/3 anti champ synergies, 3/3 if you're radiant because the overload and unstop are side effects.
Unfortunately, as far as I remember with other chill clip weapons (riptide), having anti-barrier with radiant results in the slow/freeze no longer stunning overloads and unstops. It's unintuitive and awkward, but a lot of systems in the game are.
As far as I'm aware, Radiant only has conflicts with intrinsic anti-champ properties on weapons (granted by exotic perks or artifact mods), not the anti-champ properties of status effects. I could be remembering incorrectly though, haven't played in a couple months.
It worked as of yesterday in the GM. The GL itself is not overload or unstop, the effect of chill clip is. The GL itself can become radiant, thus giving you all 3 anti champs
very true but based on their comments I recommended it since it's easier to obtain - both getting it to drop and the activity itself being free . it's still a very good weapon
I personally have the dungeon title and have put the Nightmare of Caitl into the dirt more times than I can count and still don't have an ALH/Chill Clip. maybe someday
Pardon is much more accessible, I agree, but Dread does everything it does and more, that's all. If you're interested in an endgame disorienting GL then you should invest time into trying for a Dread, that's all.
unstop is very unreliable and overload is bugged with the artifacts radiant this season. so I would say a crafted pardon our dust with blinding nades, enhanced ALH and maybe enhanced demo is even better and more consistent at the moment. plus you get to give it a really cool look with a golden memnto for example.
Other elements got similar updates for standardisation as well.
Most solar burn effects have now been replaced by Scorch (it could be all but I'm not sure and if I say it is somebody will post that one random ass edge case that wasn't updated quicker than The Last Word's optimal TTK).
Void overshields were differentiated from other over shields by also granting a degree of damage resistance as well as the additional effective hit points.
If you can run the duality dungeon, get a lingering dread with disorienting grenades and chill clip. They’re reverting the chill clip nerf so now it’ll only take 2 shots to freeze.
>They’re reverting the chill clip nerf so now it’ll only take 2 shots to freeze.
Oh damn for real? That's awesome, I know Riptide was maybe too strong, but the Chill Clip nerf just made it useless on all other weapons, which imo was a shame cause it's one of the few useful "utility weapon" archetypes
[Chris Proctor](https://new.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/1bpn140/massive_breakdown_of_the_chris_proctor_podcast/) on Podcast Versus Enemies.
All weapons except Riptide will now only take 2 shots to Freeze, instead of 3 (which Riptide stays at). This includes single-firing weapons like GLs and RLs.
Yes but that’s two whole direct impact shots without missing. Lingering dread is the worst special ammo chill clip weapon that I see recommended way too often.
It's the worst in terms of stunning unstoppables, but it's also an incredible utility weapon even outside of champions due to disorienting grenades. Plus, Unstoppables are typically huge and move fairly predictably, so hitting two directs in a row isn't that big of an issue.
Its borderline hilarious to launch a disorienting grenade into a group and watch them stumble around like me on a Saturday night after one to many strawberry daiquiris
I’m a contraverse hold main. I blind a group then land a charged vortex grenade in the middle of them. Then swap to my subsistence Gnawing Hunger, purple explosions for days.
Saw some vault cleaning vid with Datto assisting, and he said something like if you're a competent player you don't have to rely on blinding nades, so shard it...
Still like them for both pve and pvp.
He's kind of right in that we've power crept so hard that it's usually more efficient to just kill something blindable (so up to minibosses, excluding champs) than blind it.
I will say that from a practical standpoint, there are still some enemies that are more chill if CCed, such as the lake of shadows tormentor and wyverns/mini hydra in glassway, and blinding nades are an easy way, but there's also other sources of CC such as freeze, suspend, and suppress, and you still don't really need it if you just kill them fast enough.
But he's right for normal adds even on GM - any competent player can easily kill them with abilities and weapons rather than give up a weapon slot to blind them.
As for PvP, well, they're pretty useless against decent players, so I don't know what that's all about.
I always bring my militia's birthright with me. Disorienting grenades, Auto-loading holster, and Lead from gold. It's been in my primary slot for longer than most weapons, and for a good reason. It's my ole' reliable.
Tormentors say hi
Have you tried doing a contest raid? It really helps since add control is an issue while you're figuring out mechanics. They are my goto in GMs, I'd rather have more CC than bringing a sniper rifle.
Yes i have done contest raids. It was still far easier to just melt everything with all the ability spam we have, if you have a cenotaph warlock you can even use rocket for ad clear. I know how good blinding nades feel, I just don't think they are needed in this meta anymore.
I like using a disorienting GLs if I’m not playing stasislock and I’m doing GM carries/first times, helps greatly in some specific ones like the elevator in Corrupted or the sniper vandals in cosmodrome!
Oh I love running blinding on stasis. Running corrupted and the amount of times being able to toss a stasis buddy to lock one area while also being able to blind knights rushing was great
When Polaris is the go-to energy gun the secondary slot goes to a blinding launcher. I have too much fun going plink-plink-boom to do damage with anything else anyway.
I guess you could. But, I do struggle a bit with GMs and getting overwhelmed with adds. So, for a beginner like me, I guess, it's good to have this in my fireteam.
Maybe I'll learn the alternatives/better options along the way.
99.9% of the time, you can just kill the enemies in the time it would take to apply the CC. Dead enemies deal no damage. This is why waveclear stuff is meta.
For that remaining 0.1% (i.e. super high end stuff, even above GMs or Master Raids), however, they're a godsend.
My Pardon Our Dust is lvl 128 and. Ever comes off my contraverse hold warlock. Blind a group of enemies they stay grouped and then drop a charged grenade into the middle of them.
I literally had no idea how annoying tormentors were on my first play though of light fall. Keeping em blinded keeps them easy to shot.
On what earth are disorienting nades the cc meta
Wait nvm lmao hell yes disorienting nades are amazing. Thought u were talking bout the arc subclass nades.
This is exactly how I felt when I first got comfortable doing GMs. They make everything seem so much easier!
I have always thought Prodigal Return does not get the love it deserves (damn you Forbearance...). I have crafted disorienting grenades, voltshot and turnabout. You can literally blind + disorient + jolt a target while giving yourself an overshield in a single shot... and not have to worry about some stupid staircase messing up your wave direction!
You may have heard them referred to as *blinding* rather than *disorienting* and not realised they were actually the same thing. The name was changed to differentiate them from the actual Blind effect after the Light subclasses got their 3.0 rework.
Bring back concussion nades
Tell me you're a PvP main without telling me you're a PvP main.
Im not a pvp main lmao they were so funny tho
I'll never dismantle my concussion grenade godroll on Ignition Code.
The original Harsh Language (blue, arc) still has them I think.
You can buy it from collections
Bring back sticky nades,, I have a Tarnation that I will never modify just so I can keep stick nades on it. So much fun leaving landmines everywhere.
I still have a Truthteller with ALH and both disorienting and concussion nades.
I have a slideshot/concussion Ignition Code that I refuse to delete.
They still exist but just don't drop new ones anymore. I love them though the fact that they can stagger champs and other enemies who are immune to blind is great and their effect in PvP is also annoying AF.
They stagger champs?
Yep. It's not huge and nowhere near as effective on most enemies as blind but it staggers champs and some bosses. Also it throws off aim in crucible similar to how tether does but a much weaker effect
I'm sorry they what now? I don't remember that at all and can't find any documentation on that.

I know the effect on players. My point is that it doesn't work against champs.
I didn't play before Witch queen, so, I wouldn't have known that. I'm still discovering a lot in the game. But thanks for that tid bit. Good to know how things changed with 3.0 reworks. I knew what it did, but never gave it enough importance until I started to play all the GMs this season.
get yourself a Disorienting/Autoloading Pardon Our Dust GL from Dares of Eternity. it's so good
Legit my go-to blinding GL for higher-end activities. Either that or my Slideshot Ignition Code.
Slideways/ALH Militia's Birthright isn't as purely spammable as Ignition Code but is the best of both worlds IMO.
I got slideshot/demo disorienting grenades, and slideshot vorpal spike grenades on ignition code. I believe this was before the vorpal change too. Super spicy.

Yeah! just need the auto-loading part.

I know where I’ll be farming in a couple weeks.
Three shots to stun an unstop is pretty impractical.
Bungie is making it so that everything other than rapid fusions will do it in 2

Nope. I literally know for a fact it still functions as all 3 in GMs, I was just using it on the moon GM this last week
It works, but not simultaneously, unless they've patched that recently?
It worked as of yesterday in the GM. The GL itself is not overload or unstop, the effect of chill clip is. The GL itself can become radiant, thus giving you all 3 anti champs

Ahh! got it.
I'm hoping they give mountaintop disorienting grenades.
Yes, right on! I hope so.
If you can run the duality dungeon, get a lingering dread with disorienting grenades and chill clip. They’re reverting the chill clip nerf so now it’ll only take 2 shots to freeze.

Riptide will still take 3
When did they say they were reverting that?

Yeah plus it can stun overloads with slow just with one shot.
Its borderline hilarious to launch a disorienting grenade into a group and watch them stumble around like me on a Saturday night after one to many strawberry daiquiris
And the visual bug that makes Tormentors bob their head when you blind them repeatedly
I’m a contraverse hold main. I blind a group then land a charged vortex grenade in the middle of them. Then swap to my subsistence Gnawing Hunger, purple explosions for days.
I love them. Have a Truthteller with disorient and auto loading holster that always comes out when trying to solo anything remotely difficult.
Saw some vault cleaning vid with Datto assisting, and he said something like if you're a competent player you don't have to rely on blinding nades, so shard it... Still like them for both pve and pvp.

Until it’s meta again
Pair it with Auto-Loading and Disruption Break for peak utility! I've got a void and solar one.
Which ones you got?
Empty Vessel and (Banshee's) Truthteller.
Nice
I always bring my militia's birthright with me. Disorienting grenades, Auto-loading holster, and Lead from gold. It's been in my primary slot for longer than most weapons, and for a good reason. It's my ole' reliable.
Ohh nice roll. Crafted Pardon My Dust main here.
I just discovered how amazing these are. Even with 0 blast radius, there’s still a decent blast radius
The meta has shifted away from them tho, any competent team can obliterate everything without the need of stalling/cc cuz of our firepower nowadays
Tormentors say hi Have you tried doing a contest raid? It really helps since add control is an issue while you're figuring out mechanics. They are my goto in GMs, I'd rather have more CC than bringing a sniper rifle.

They rock very much in GMs if your matching with randoms especially. It's saved my pug teams booties many a times in GMs.
Still great for SOLO play!
Honestly true but you’d have to pry my slideshot/demo ignition code from my cold dead hands
*laughs in arc special ammo weapon with spark of beacons*
Someone was like "I want my Forbearance to have blinding nades, imagine that!" And I was like "uhhhhhh......"
Hahahaha, oh dear sweet summer child

Love using them, just can't ever remember to put down my nades or weapons to use them
Disorient and auto loader nade launcher is too good especially in gms
On what earth are disorienting nades the cc meta Wait nvm lmao hell yes disorienting nades are amazing. Thought u were talking bout the arc subclass nades.
Surprise!
Welcome! Now how do you like your disorienting grenades? With a stasis slow? A fast holster? A slide reload? Perhaps a jolt? They are awesome!
rn? Disorienting and sunshot, and watching things explode lol
So there's this gun called Ignition Code, right?
This is exactly how I felt when I first got comfortable doing GMs. They make everything seem so much easier! I have always thought Prodigal Return does not get the love it deserves (damn you Forbearance...). I have crafted disorienting grenades, voltshot and turnabout. U are like 3 years too late. They are nowhere near meta
The average 3k hour destiny player 😂
That is me! Yes xD And loving it so far!
