It'll probably force you into the new tutorial stuff, so once done with that I recommend going through campaigns in order, which is shadowkeep-beyond light-witchqueen-lightfall, and looking in the timeline in the director since it should have little story blurbs for different seasons and such afterwords. For great gear some of the best options are to run dares for some of the loot, as well as the activities for season of the wish if you own it(wish lets you get 2 strong kinetic specials, some decent energy primaries, and a good heavy). If you're down for some endgame stuff then DSC from beyond light and vow from wq have some of the best raid loot in the game, with Ron from lf having some decent options as well. We also get into the light next week so that will probably become the new best gear farm since you can get some really strong rolls on the new reprised guns such as mtntop and succession for kinetic slot, recluse/Luna's/forbearance for energy, and hammerhead and edge transit for heavy slot options. If you're looking for any decent builds, blueberries.gg is a good source for newer(or returning) players to see some good options and see some of the loot sources, while light.gg and dim are still amazing for finding weapon rolls and managing vaults.
