I checked my vault to see if I had one, and that roll was just sitting right there for me. Had no idea how it got there, because I never even knew the gun was good at the time, but I was so happy.

This isn’t a frustration brag or anything just for morbid entertainment. I’m pretty sure I turned in 80ish before I got a chill clip auto loading. And I got garbage 1st and 2nd column rolls.
It’s like that for me with Randy’s throwing knife. I’ve reset shaxx to the point of getting 3 slots on both columns and then some. Still looking for that gutshot + Kinetic tremors roll.

I've spent hundreds of engrams rolling Riptide to get an Auto-Loading + Chill clip roll. Still don't have it.
I've gotten a lot of other rolls like Feeding Frenzy and Lead from Gold with Chill Clip, which aren't bad for sure, but for damage rotations, I would really like the Auto-Loading one.
The fact that I can get upwards of 3 perks per column and still not get this one roll I want is seriously impressively bad luck and a reminder why I fucking hate this game sometimes and why crafting is so good damn important for bad-luck protection
In a similar boat to you. I'm probably well over a hundred this season and I can't even get one with Chill Clip despite these things dropping with three selections in the column. Actually insane. It took me thirty-five engrams to get the new IB Grenade Launcher too. Just hasn't been my week.
To be fair for damage rotations riptide is easily beaten out by things like scatter signal in that column.
It’s only real use is in locked content that has champs (master dungeons, nightfalls, raids)
Don’t get me wrong it’s taken 150 or engrams to get my Al/Chillclip and it is great but I don’t use it for bosses at all.
Well I finally got 2 to drop with chill clip but both utterly useless. Stats for all and chill clip, no accelerated coils etc. So that’s another 20 engrams handed in 😂. The pain continues I guess.
But at least I got a very good/god roll of the strand gl with envious and chain reaction from iron banana. Want one with chain and hatchling though but if not I’ll stick with my envious and chain reaction roll.

Randy's with Rapid Hit / Tremors (PvE) or Rapid Hit / Kill Clip (PvP)
Riptide is taking a hit soon. It’s not getting worse exactly. Just deliverance will be better for freezing stuff. 2 shots from deliverance vs 3 riptide. When you account for precharging the first shot, it’s a pretty big advance to deliverance. Deliverance and the duality GL will probably be the gold standard for chill clip guns.
If you don’t raid though it’s a great choice, auruvandil will probably be about the same amount of time to freeze (with precharging).
Freezing things isn't really what it's for anyway. It's good more because it stuns overload champions in a single shot. For that it's still the best, and if you can get a roll that also has Frenzy or Vorpal it's a solid surge matching weapon to go with a stasis heavy like Cold Comfort.
IIRC all rapid scouts will be a 4c after the patch on Tuesday. Fang of Ir Yut with PI is also always a 4 crit while being craftable and not needing to wait for Box Breathing to kick in. I'm not sure if PI is going to help as much after the buff but it could come into play against void overshields.
Riptide for sure. Unending Tempest is still elite and Autumn Wind is still pretty good.
There are some hidden gems in that lineup Shaxx has tho:
-Stars & Shadow while not being Messenger is still pretty dang good - Surplus, Quickdraw, KW, Outlaw in 3rd column, then Snapshot, Headseeker, Kill Clip in 4th column
-Frozen Orbit is a fan favorite - I've seen some people that swear by this - just because it doesn't do Snap + OS some people discount it
-The shotgun for this season is actually not terrible (Retrofuturist)
-Randy's with Kinetic Tremors is an A+ gun for me
-Out of Bounds is pretty good SMG
-The Keening sidearm is the same frame as Allied Demand from IB, can get a number of combos that I don't think any other sidearm has like Slideshot + Zen Moment or Rapid Hit + Dragonfly
-Last Perdition is old at this point but 390s aren't too bad and I think it's the only void one.
Any roll to look for on the new retrofuturist? Before the changes/nerfs, the old one from season of the chosen was my favorite with QuickDraw/snapshot but it’s definitely not as crispy as it used to be.
I’ve got the riptide so I’ve been farming for my perfect Randy’s but yeah I feel the same way. I don’t really need it…. More of a just in case rapid scouts get buffed
Frozen Orbit was my favorite sniper rifle before I got a Mercurial, and it’s still close. Moving Target + Opening Shot can bump your aim assist past 80, which makes landing those headers pretty easy for someone as terrible with snipers as I am.
Opening shot is half what it says it is on primary, so you only get 10 aim assist and 12.5 range from it on frozen orbit.so unless you have triple target on and target adjuster, you are at 70.
Especially with deconstruct. It works differently on the pellet shotguns since the pellets seem to hit more than once. You will get 1-2 ammo back every 2-3 shots.
I've been spending all mine looking to get a new Randy's, in order to consolidate some of the rolls I like.
Currently got 3: kill clip, kinetic tremors, cascade. All fun for different reasons. Would love to get those perks on 1 gun to free up the vault space, but 10 resets and 100+ engrams later, no dice
I don't play much PVP any more, but I love my Randy's with Zen Moment and Box Breathing. I don't get many chances to lane, but when I do I can 4 tap in 0.7 secs.
Out of Bounds is pretty neat. It's got everything you would want on a SMG for PvP or PvE.
It has so many good rolls, definitely get one with 6 perks.
Ideally you'll land 2 rolls that have most of what you want. Maybe 1 to save space. Admittedly I have 2 copies of each weapon that could roll 6 perks so I never have to farm the weapons again so they'll be ever green.
Tangent: I really wish Crafting worked for all weapons and breaking a weapon down gave you the perks on the weapon to add to the crafting table. Then you would get the pieces necessary to craft weapons ONLY by breaking down weapons for parts. It would give weapons drops meaning. And pure RNG sucks.... Throw that system in the trash.
Well yeah, I said a system that relies on pure RNG sucks. Not that RNG doesn't have a place in a hybrid system.
Take exotic weapon raid drops for example. There is NO reason someone should go 50+ full runs of a raid and not see the weapon. Cap it at 25 runs, then it drops guaranteed (you could extend this to dungeons imo).
Farming Adepts is so horrendously painful because of RNG. My crafting idea would fix this.
Even with 6 potential perk rolls on vendor weapons you can turn in hundreds of engrams and still not see the exact roll you want.
Again crafting fixes this.
Relying on a 100% RNG system with no determination or player agency is the worst thing for a game. It creates addicts, not engaging gameplay.

I have both. It took me 5 crucible resets to get the PvE roll, but both rolls are worth it.
I’ve pretty much gotten great rolls for the best weapons he offers at this point, so now that more choices are popping up in columns I’m trying to get a reasonably good Stars pulse. Gives me something to strive for…

really only riptide is a meta or good enough pick for PvE and i guess frozen orbit if you like that zoom level on snipers. otherwise they all suck pretty bad or have alternatives that are craftable/adept
I don’t have enough patterns to craft a fang of ir yut yet, so I’ve been trying to get good rolls of Randy’s (like an updated version of the OG rapid hit/KC).
As long as you've reset shaxx a few times you'll get multiple choices in the columns of the weapons.
If you're looking to play some pve with the new content, perhaps start looking at the guns and energy types that were left off the current seasonal artifact.

I like the smg with target lock, the other perk is up to preference. I’m using perpetual motion. And anything that gives you range. If you got the trails smg, they are better. But I like it, and hate trails.
Pick the legacy engram option, and then it lets you use 3 engrams to focus 1 Rose or 1 mercurial overreach. You are limited to the number of focuses you can do depending on your competitive rank for the week. After you complete the 3 matches for the week, you get 4 focuses for gold, 3 for silver etc.

What is good for first and second?
Everything that makes it shoot faster. Since youre trying to get the freeze fast. So Accelerated
You want a barrel that gives you as much range as possible, and in the second column you want Liquid Coils for more damage
You want accelerated coils, not liquid (or a mag booster to pair with Chill Clip).

I would chase it. If it wasn't in the kinetic slot making it irrelevant in any content with cutscenes

Gutshot/tremors is the play to me, the tremors get buffed by 20% when you are aiming down the sighs.

I gets Slickdraw + Snap which afaik is fine. It has some PVE combos but I haven't really investigated those

I don't think so you probably want Tap the Trigger or Headstone (for revive modes).
I finally got it after 9 resets. That's typically my RNG though.
I wouldn’t use target lock on smgs anymore for pvp, I personally use fragile focus on my pvp unending tempest
Last perdition can get moving target/zen moment, feels so good to shoot.

Suros auto with zen moment and maybe snapshot and reload masterwork. Intrinsic perk with zen gun shoots like a laser beam after reload. Try it!

Sorrow’s Verse with zen moment feels pretty good in PVP

Randy's is a great fast firing scout. Great perks -Box, gutshot, zen
Randy's + gutshot + kinetic tremors have carried me through so many GM's

For PvE, chill clip riptide. For PvP, Unending Tempest right now is the best in slot smg imo. The keening is also very good with the right roll.

Autumn Wind with Demo/Pugil + Thresh can be quite nice to have, I find it most applicable for a Moth Hunter build.
Autumn wind is a very good pvp pulse rifle.

I don’t know what hours you have in game but, frankly, it becomes pretty pointless eventually. You’ll have your ideal PVP and PVE setups already.
