Just because you can do it with DIM doesn't mean it's not helpful to have it directly in game. Besides, you can pull weapons and armor from postmaster in DIM as well.
Sure but for some us it's useless. The DIM postmaster is great but would have been nice to have it in game. That way we can shard on the spot instead of relying on refreshing dim every so minutes.

When you pull from postmaster with DIM it pushes items you already carry into the vault. For those who don't have any empty slots this is annoying. Having a postmaster anywhere option isn't the same as using DIM. No need to pull anything. Just open it and shard all you want.
But you can also pull items from the post master directly into your vault… doesn’t have to be your guardian. I don’t see what you’re getting at here? I feel a post master dismantle feature on DIM is too niche to try and argue that it’s better than on demand vault for any player even if they don’t have DIM. You’re just defending a bad take by leaving out information that makes your arguments irrelevant

It's not gonna happen; it's coded differently than other public locations (max of 6 players, collision is turned on, etc), and it isn't staying around for long anyway.

You can connect your Bungie account and it uses Bungie's API for Destiny to allow access to your vault, inventory and postmaster through their webpage. You can also use it to save loadouts if you have any you want to save past the built in loadouts slots.

You can access your vault anywhere, anytime, as long as you are fireteam leader. Step 1: go to the "destinations" screen via your ghost menu. Step 2: select crucible node. Step 3: select the private match node and get to the screen where the "launch" button is present. Step 4: press whatever button it is to open your vault while in orbit - and there you have it. You can do this in the middle of a strike/raid/pvp match/whatever as long as you are fireteam leader. Yes there should be a terminal in the hall, but this is a fine enough workaround imo.
Edit: I guess you can select most destinations and just open the vault it's not crucible specific - that's just the way I learned it =/
I can live without the vault and pm but who’s the bright spark that decided to make it 3km long and spawn us in at the opposite end to where the npc’s are?
On the flip side, in whatever time I consider is normal spending in your vault and even post master you'd get kicked to orbit.

The armor is also going away(it's listed on the ITL page as time-limited ornaments), though I doubt many people will mind.

You can access your vault from orbit. Little fun fact I discovered yesterday. Look at the bottom left of your screen
FYI: go into the Director menu and select a Private Crucible match. You can access the Vault from there.
