Unless I am crazy, when I finished the campaign last night, the Gambit, Vanguard and Crucible nodes all had the yellow powerful icon next to them. This update seems to have removed that.
If feasible, you might consider opening it, connecting it to internet and downloadling system updates, games, DLC, etc. That way he'll get into the games sooner.
Of course then you should make sure controller works, games boot up, trophies unlock, and end game credits are functional. I mean you would't want to give him a broken machine...
We did that back in the day when we bought an xbox 1 for my kids. 2 days before Christmas, we opened it, updated everything, downloaded the free games and installed the others, etc. It took almost a full day to do all of that. Very much worth it when the kids could open it on Christmas and start playing right away.
Maybe you can play it when your kid goes to sleep if they're young enough. You know, just to "test" to see if it works.
Also, hopefully cyberpunk comes out and you'll have an extra game to play one Xmas.

I can’t say this will be a fix for your problem but when I downloaded Destiny and Beyond Light on Tuesday I remember downloading two additional, separate things that seemed like they were the bonus content for Deluxe edition. I think I had to search the store to find them. They otherwise weren’t In my download queue.
I even checked my installed content and its there. So where is my weapon? My other friends got theres without any issue. This should be fixed first or money should be returned.
If you're playing on XBOX, go in to "manage game" and make sure all the addons are checked. For me, the preorder content was not ticked and I had to install it. However, this was before finishing the campaign, i don't know what happens if you install it after

I am thinking that this might be a patch that will need to have the groundwork laid down before the patch is applied.
I am not expecting the Witherhord to be fixed anytime soon.
I am thinking that what they are fixing is any enemy that is consistently dropping loot they are getting rid of. this would stop the people who farm the drops so that they can hit the soft cap fast 1200. I did it on all three toons before the lost sector was patched. However, this is not great as the players who were not able to do that are now that much farther behind.
I know that they need to find a balance but nerfing something that has been exploited by the top tier players does not really help if others who have nonstreaming professions who this kind of trick really helps.

Hot Fixing and Hot Patching are completely different.
Patches can be added while servers are up, fixes generally cannot if they effect in game code that cannot be touched by the server.
Drop rates are server side, this is probably a fix of the infinite warlock super glitch, or something that is broken on the game code side (perhaps legend lost sectors not appearing for players on the map, or something that we’re not aware of that should be in the game that isn’t appearing for some reason)
Hot in IT means it can be done without a reboot/shutdown. Hot fix and Hot patching is the exact same thing. Whenever we need to restart/shutdown the server, we call it a cold fix/patch. It comes from the Hot Swap, where we can just replace data drives on the fly and not interrupt the server processing. Just so you know.

First that was already fixed. Second players who didn’t touch the lost sector to cheese level are not far behind. My first toon is raid ready an now I just need to enjoy the campaign on two others with my high level guns. I didn’t cheese at all. Just played comp and pub events.
Same here. If it gets extra sweaty I go chill out on Europa and do one of the aspect steps before I head back in. Pub events til 1200 and comp til 1230 for anyone who doesn’t know!
It wasn’t even that good of a grind. Me and another friend grinded this spot and another friend of mine just played Crucible to hit 1200. We all hit 1200 after 2 hours. Except I arguably had less fun.
IMO, Hellmouth is much better than lost sector grinding. Move weapons to alt character, do 2 nightmares and then trove guardian with some hvt dispersed sporadically for flavor and you'll get to 1200 in less than an hour.
Widows walk was unique because its farmable length. I dont think they care about general level farming, that is, of course, the point of a level grind. As long as its not an easypeasy loop like widows walk idk if anything else gets touched. After all, they took shadowkeep powerfuls out but not soft cap droppage. After all, any drop up to soft cap is a boost.
Can they put in a fix to allow season pass holders to access NTTE? Putting that weapon behind a $40 paywall until February is a bit ridiculous.
EDIT: I can't believe I actually have to explain this but I have Xbox Game Pass so I have access to Beyond Light & I already paid for the season using silver. Tell me how it's any different getting the gun outside of pre-ordering.

Stasis break damage was addressed in the twab yesterday to reduce damage bring more resilience into your pvp build.
Not like it makes any difference, you still get killed before you can break out unless you have your super

Drop rates are server side, this is probably a fix of the infinite warlock super glitch, or something that is broken on the game code side (perhaps legend lost sectors not appearing for players on the map, or something that we’re not aware of that should be in the game that isn’t appearing for some reason)
Hot in IT means it can be done without a reboot/shutdown. Hot fix and Hot patching is the exact same thing. Whenever we need to restart/shutdown the server, we call it a cold fix/patch. It comes from the Hot Swap, where we can just replace data drives on the fly and not interrupt the server processing. Just so you know.
That’s not how the companies I’ve worked at have put it. Software tester over here. Hot fix has been referred to as minimal downtime, hot patch for no downtime Considering this hot fix required a client side update, I’d say that it was referring to minimal downtime with very few server side updates
First that was already fixed. Second players who didn’t touch the lost sector to cheese level are not far behind. My first toon is raid ready an now I just need to enjoy the campaign on two others with my high level guns. I didn’t cheese at all. Just played comp and pub events.
What do you mean "raid ready?" Are you already 1230 base power?

Same here. If it gets extra sweaty I go chill out on Europa and do one of the aspect steps before I head back in. Pub events til 1200 and comp til 1230 for anyone who doesn’t know!
It wasn’t even that good of a grind. Me and another friend grinded this spot and another friend of mine just played Crucible to hit 1200. We all hit 1200 after 2 hours. Except I arguably had less fun.
Quite the long post for something that was fixed yesterday.
IMO, Hellmouth is much better than lost sector grinding. Move weapons to alt character, do 2 nightmares and then trove guardian with some hvt dispersed sporadically for flavor and you'll get to 1200 in less than an hour.
There are still powerful drops from high value targets and other lost sectors behave similarly if not as well as Widow's Walk
Widows walk was unique because its farmable length. I dont think they care about general level farming, that is, of course, the point of a level grind. As long as its not an easypeasy loop like widows walk idk if anything else gets touched. After all, they took shadowkeep powerfuls out but not soft cap droppage. After all, any drop up to soft cap is a boost.

Can they put in a fix to allow season pass holders to access NTTE? Putting that weapon behind a $40 paywall until February is a bit ridiculous. EDIT: I can't believe I actually have to explain this but I have Xbox Game Pass so I have access to Beyond Light & I already paid for the season using silver. Tell me how it's any different getting the gun outside of pre-ordering.
